  1. For more than 50 years, the Central Govt has made Panjab give away more than 50 percent of its river water, for free, to the non riparian states of Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi. And it has costed Panjab more than 20 lakh crore rupees (£200 billion pounds). Today only 20 per cent of Panjab's water needs are being met by its own river water. In this film, Pritam Singh Kumedan, an expert and advisor to the Panjab Govt on riparian water issues, reveals, in an interview with UNITED SIKHS, how Panjab can stop giving away this water for free. Will the politicians, who Panjab is voting for on 4th Feb 2017, ensure that Panjab does not give away its water to non-riparian states anymore?

    Respect?

Do u guys think that shaheeds and their families get enuf respect? I mean, surprisingly even some Sikhs call the karkus terrorists. The words pierce my ears like arrows and pain my heart. After all their kurbanis people have no better words than "terrorist". Must b something to do with the highly biased hindu media at the time. I had one in my extended family (my happiness knew no bounds when I found out). what do u guys think?

  4. Why exactly did the Hindu government choose to use him to be wrongfully accused of crimes on 30 different instances when there were so many great GurSikhs all over against the Akal Takht beadbi in 1984?
  5. i have yet to see this video where the slogan "KHOON KA BADLA KHOON" was shouted does this video exist? it was broadcast on doordarshan channel on tv in 1984.

  7. This caught my attention, comment posted by somebody on Facebook on one of the pages: " Facts of 1984 First day - 31st October 1984 9:20 am: Indira Gandhi is shot by Sardar Beant Singh ji and Sardar Satwant Singh ji at her residence, No. 1 Safdarjung Road, for the Attack on Sri Darbar sahib June 1984. She is then rushed to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). 10:50 am: Indira Gandhi dies. 11:00 am: All India Radio listeners learn that the two security guards who shot Indira Gandhi were Sikhs. 4:00 pm: Rajiv Gandhi returns from West Bengal and reaches AIIMS. Stray incidents of attacks in and around that area. Rajiv Gandhi has already by this time spoken to some high ranking congress officials and politicians. 5:30 pm: The motorcade of President Zail Singh, who is returning from a foreign visit, is stoned as it approaches AIIMS. EVENING of 31st October 1984 URGENT meetings are taking place at a high ranking congress leaders residences in Delhi. One of those meetings was at 24 Akbar Road, New Delhi attended by members of Parliament and senior members of the Congress party including Jagdish Tytler, Sajjan Kumar, Kamal Nath, Dharam Das Shastri, Vasant Sathe, HKL Bhagat, Lalit Makhen, Arjun Das amongst others What is being discussed? The planning of a genocide! How to bring in tyres, kerosene oil, iron rods, and have enough transport to mobilise paid hooligans, rapists, murderers from one point to another...how the police are not to intervene, how state media will be used to show inflammatory speeches and scenes. Congress MP's are ordered to make pacts with known 'criminal gangs' in their area's to eliminate Sikh men, rape their women and loot their belongings. A memo is sent out to ALL Delhi police stations ordering the immediate 'stand down' of ALL Sikh police officers till further notice AND for all Sikh police officers equipped with fire arms to return their fire arms to the local police station as of immediate effect. 1000's of photocopies of Voters list are being printed, containing ADDRESSES of Sikh houses and businesses in and around Delhi. Organised and well equipped gangs of ruffians set out in different directions from AIIMS. The violence, including violence towards Sikhs and destruction of Sikh properties, spreads. Rajiv Gandhi is sworn in as the Prime Minister. Senior advocate and BJP leader Ram Jethmalani, meets Home Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao and urges him to take immediate steps to protect Sikhs from further attacks. Delhi's Lt. Governor, P.G. Gavai and Police Commissioner, S.C. Tandon, visits some of the affected areas. Late evening, Delhi transport corporation buses are making their way out of Delhi to surrounding states to pick up paid hooligans/mobs. NIGHT of 31st October 1984 Meetings are still taking place AND now truck loads of Iron rods and tyres are coming into Delhi from surrounding states. Trains and tankers full of kerosene oil are also making their way to OLD Delhi. Jails around Delhi housing the most ruthless criminals are now being emptied of ALL those criminals including murderers and rapists, on the grounds that they can go FREE if they kill Sikh men and rape Sikh women, they are also told they will be paid for every Sikh that is killed and for every Sikh woman that is raped. Second day - 1st November 1984 Congress party MP Sajjan Kumar and Trade Union leader Lalit Maken handed out 100 rupee notes and bottles of liquor to assailants. On the morning of 1st November, Sajjan Kumar was seen holding rallies in, at least, the following Delhi neighborhoods; in Palam Colony from 6:30 AM to 7:00 AM, in Kiran Gardens from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM, and in Sultanpuri from around 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM. In Kiran Gardens at 8:00 AM, Sajjan Kumar was seen distributing iron rods from a parked truck to a group of 120 people and instructing them to "attack Sikhs, kill them, and loot and burn their properties" The FIRST killing of a Sikh occurs in east Delhi. Armed mobs with guns lead the way. 9:00 am: Armed mobs take over the streets of Delhi and launch a massacre. Among the first targets are Gurdwaras. Sikhs seen in cars, public transport, including buses and trains are being dragged out...Sikh men are being beaten with rods and tyres are being placed around their necks...doused with kerosene oil..they are being set a light! Before they are being burnt they are pinned down and their hair and beards are being forcibly cut off. 120 Sikhs working at the Bokaro Steel Plant Jharkhand thrown alive into burning furnaces. In Agartala, Tripura 40 Sikh families who took refuge in a police station to save their lives were burnt alive in the police station. In Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh 12 Sikhs were hanged from the ceiling at the railway platform. Sikh women are being gang raped, beaten...stripped naked they sit next to the burning bodies of their husbands, bothers, sons. 40-50 Sikh girls are kidnapped and taken to a Chilla village where they are raped for 7 days!! Sikh belongings are being looted, their homes and business set alight. The police refuse to help or intervene. In some cases, the Police actually assist the mobs by disarming Sikhs so they could attack them. The worst affected areas are low income colonies like Trilokpuri, Shahdara, geeta colony,Mongolpuri, Sultanpuri and Palam Colony. 100's of Gurdwara are being burnt, Shiri Guru Granth Sahib ji de saroop are being set alight...Waheguru. This scene is being replicated in others parts of India. The state media show looped video clips of Amitabh Bachchan raising slogans like "Khoon ka badla khoon" (blood for blood) and "Khoon ke chintey sikhon ke ghar tak pahunchni chahiye" (Splashes of blood should reach the doorsteps of Sikhs). Third day -2nd November 1984 A repeat of 1st November. And A curfew is announced throughout Delhi, but is not enforced. The Army deployed throughout Delhi too but ineffective because the police did not co-operate with soldiers (who are not allowed to open fire without the consent of senior police officers and executive magistrates). The killings, rapes and looting continue. Fourth day -3rd November 1984 Massacre continues. By late evening, the national Army and local police units work together to subdue the violence. After law enforcement intervention, violence is comparatively mild and sporadic. In Delhi the dead bodies of the victims were taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi and Civil Hospital Mortuary Tis hazari, Delhi. It is now believed that 30,000 plus Sikhs Perished throughout India during these 4 days of State Sponsored Massacre. 100's of Sikh women listed missing / unaccounted for. 100's of young children missing / unaccounted for. We NOW ask you to please help raise awareness of this massacre, so the remaining culprits that are STILL alive are brought to account Never forget 1984 Must read Its too long but true pls pls read at once pls......"
  8. Today in Sikh History: 2nd November 1984 Curfew was in force throughout Delhi but only on paper. The Army was also deployed throughout Delhi but nowhere was it effective because the police did not co-operate with the soldiers who were not empowered to open fire without the consent of senior police officers or executive magistrates. Meanwhile, mobs continued to rampage with the same ferocity with mass killing, rapes and torture. There was stench of death surrounding Delhi, yet no one was accountable. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10153105534302791&substory_index=0&id=240716567790

    1984 Dissertation Help

I’ve been told to think of an area of interest for my dissertation in university. I would like to do it on 1984 Operation Blue Star because it’s close to my heart but I do not know what avenue to take on it and cannot think of possible questions. Some other students from university have stated it would be difficult to do because of the lack of academic research connected to it. Any suggestions or ideas?
  12. So the UK makes a deal with the Saudis to vote for each other so they can both secure places on the UN Human Rights Commissions. Even though Saudi hasone of the worst human rights records in the world, human rights take a back seat when trade deals and western interests are up for grabs. Is anyone surprised ? Then you wonder why the enquiry into British involvement in the 1984 Harmandar Sahib attack was 'white washed " and shut down... http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015/sep/29/uk-and-saudi-arabia-in-secret-deal-over-human-rights-council-place

  15. ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂਜੀਕਾਖਾਲਸਾ॥ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂਜੀਕੀਫਤਿਹ॥ UK MP John McDonnell says Sikh Genocide of 1984 was similar to the Jewish Genocide in Germany by Adolf Hilter London: On the eve of the premier of upcoming movie ‘Patta Patta Singhan da Vairi’ on April 12, UK MP John McDonnell said that the Sikhs were subjected to genocide in 1984 by the Indian state just like the Nazi regime of Hitler subjected Jews to genocide. Talking about the Sikh Genocide of November 1984, MP John McDonnell said that this was sequel of the genocide of the Jews in Germany by Adolf Hitler. File photo - MP John McDonnell While appreciating lyricist turned singer cum actor Raj Kakra, MP John McDonnell said that ‘Patta Patta Singhan Da Vairi’ movie portrays the tragedy of Punjab. The ‘Daily Ajit’ reveals that the story of the movie revolves around a Sikh youth, whose father becomes a victim and is shot by the Indian Army during the armed attack by Indian State on Darbar Sahib, Amritsar in June 1984. It also demonstrates the tales of atrocities committed by Punjab Police on civilian population of Punjab during the last two decades of 20th century. The movie also elaborates the state conspiracy in rampant drugs abuse in Punjab. It is notable that ‘Patta Patta Singhan Da Vairi’ movie was initially denied clearance by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) but it was later cleared by Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT). The movie is set to hit screens worldwide on April 17.

  17. ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫਤਿਹ New Gandhi statue unveiled in London's Parliament Square The British prime minister, David Cameron, and India’s finance minister, Arun Jaitley, were joined on Saturday by Gandhi’s grandson, the former governor of West Bengal, Shri Gopalkrishna Gandhi, and Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan for the inauguration ceremony. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/mar/14/new-gandhi-statue-unveiled-in-londons-parliament-square During Sikh New Year's day, David Cameron participated in insulting Sikhs by hosting Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan, who is alleged to have incited racial hatred and genocide against Sikhs, for the inauguration ceremony. A leading German historian said Mahatma Gandhi was "one of the greatest friends of Nazi Germany" because the Indian activist and the Third Reich shared a shared a common enemy in Britain. Gandhi's quote on the Children Of Israel "the Jews should have offered themselves to the butcher's knife. They should have thrown themselves into the sea from cliffs." Gandhi insisted on referring to Sikhs as "hindus" and said "I read your Granth Sahib. But I do not do so to please you. Nor shall I seek your permission to do so. But the Guru has not said anywhere that you must grow your beards, carry kirpans (swords) and so on". Gandhi attacked Gurmukhi. In a letter to a friend, Amrit Kaur, he wrote, "I wish you would persuade enlightened Sikhs to take the Devnagri script in the place of the Gurmukhi". The UK government aided India in planning Sikh genocide during 1984.

  19. On the 27th of jan, the bbc asian network invited amitabh bachchan for an interview/show whatever it was. Some time in december early jan, the public could book tickets to be a part of the audience. Did anyone from here go? Bachchan has some serious allegations against him as well as a court case pending in New York regarding his role in the 84 genocide. Namely, inciting genocide on door darshan with slogons of "khoon ka badla khoon". As far as im aware, 4/5 years back sajjan kumar was refused entry into the UK because of his alleged involvement in the genocide. So why is this case any different? Is it because we made a big deal of it back then, contacted our mps etc and therefore the gov under pressure refused him entry? Should we be doing something about this? Complaining to the bbc/ gov/ whoever? I've sent a complaint to the bbc, pretty straight forward simple enough to do. Follow: https://ssl.bbc.co.uk/complaints/forms/?reset=#anchor What are your thoughts?
  20. ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫਤਿਹ BREAKING NEWS: New National Archive Information Shows How The British Government Betrayed Sikhs Today National Archives released files from 1985 and 1986, including papers from the Prime Minister’s Office and the Cabinet Office. We have found new documents which expose UK PM Margaret Thatcher's active position against Sikhs. UK Cabinet meetings show a hostile Sikh policy with no sympathy towards the many thousands massacred in Sikh Genocide. The Cabinet papers reveal the 1985 government's obsession with trade in India at the expense of free expression by UK Sikhs. The 1984-85 disclosures show the British Prime Minister's (and Cabinet's) active collusion with the Indian Government against Sikhs who were already in mourning over the Sikh Genocide of June and November 1984. See the documents at: http://www.discoversikhism.com/sikh_news/1984_sikh_genocide.html

  22. Indian Government Makes Committee to Analyze 1984 Sikh Victim Cases NEW DELHI, India (December 24, 2014)—On Tuesday the Indian government constituted a committee to look into various grievances of the 1984 Sikh pogrom victims. The statement said, “The ministry of home affairs has been receiving a large number of complaints from various individuals in the matter of 1984 ‘riots.’ The team will look into their grievances.” The committee consists of retired Supreme Court judge Justice G.P. Mathur as the chairman, and J.P. Aggarwal as joint secretary in the ministry as a member secretary. The statement also read that the committee would look over the usage of payment of enhanced indemnity of 5 lakh rupees for every person killed during the 1984 massacres as approved by the cabinet on December 10, 2014. The committee will also look further into the need for the Constitution of Special Investigation Team (SIT) for also investigating the 1984 massacre cases and submit their reports within three months. 23. ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫਤਿਹ November 1984 Massacres of Sikhs: Leading British MP Slams ‘Genocide Denial’ and calls for UN Intervention A powerful statement from a leading UK parliamentarian has given a major boost to efforts aimed at securing an international tribunal to punish those guilty of the genocide of Sikhs in India in November 1984. Fabian Hamilton MP is a highly respected figure at Westminster and is seen as an expert on foreign affairs. His comments recall how the Sikhs, during the Second World War helped to liberate the Jews from their Holocaust, saying it is now right that the world “put an end to genocide denial in the context of what happened to the Sikhs in India in November 1984”. Releasing the statement of Mr. Fabian Hamilton MP UK Parliament in the press conference, S. Karnail Singh Peermohammad President of All India Sikh Students Federation welcomed the statement from Mr. Hamilton by saying this will give real impetus to efforts to bring the killers to justice. AISSF President also appreciated the work done by U.K Based Sikh campaigner S. Ranjit Singh Srai and S. Amrik Singh Sahota in bringing the Sikh Genocide injustice on International level. He said the victims’ families would see this intervention as a significant contribution to their struggle and that the entire Sikh nation would deeply appreciate Fabian Hamilton’s principled comments. Recent weeks have seen Sikhs across the world, on the 30th anniversary of the bloodshed, demand international action to punish the guilty following three shameful decades of refusal by Indian authorities to take any meaningful steps. Citing the ‘Punjab Bandh’ of 1st November 2014, led by the All India Sikh Students Federation and victim’s families, the statement reflects disappointment that the new Indian Government has failed to distance itself from the failures of the past by coming forward with proposals to address the “grotesque injustice”. Fabian Hamilton, Member of Parliament for Leeds North East (United Kingdom) Mr. Hamilton, who serves as chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group for British Sikhs, has expressed horror at the impunity given to the perpetrators of the “abominable crimes” which led to the deaths of thousands of Sikhs whilst “the security forces, government and judiciary watched as mute spectators”. The statement castigates those that still refer to the pogroms as “riots” and concludes that the motivation behind that may well be that Indian politicians fear the implications of India being found in breach of their obligations under the Genocide Convention 1948. India is a signatory to that key international treaty and, under its terms, has undertaken to take effective action to both prevent genocide and to punish those responsible for it. India has “clearly breached” those legal obligations and instead shielded the perpetrators, “many of whom have since enjoyed high office”. The senior MP calls on the UK Government, as a member of the UN Security Council, to initiate steps at the UN in order to deliver an impartial judicial investigation which “is now perhaps the only realistic hope that justice can be achieved”. He notes the recent condemnation by both Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch of the impunity which has cast “a dark shadow of shame over India’s standing in the international community”. Interestingly he invites the new Indian Prime Minister to agree to an international judicial probe. This follows a recent ‘open letter’ to Narendra Modi from Karnail Singh Peermohammad, President of the All India Sikh Student Federation, which also called for the BJP leader to substantiate his claim of bringing “ache din” with his premiership by accepting Sikh demands for a UN criminal tribunal. AISSF’s President said that the Sikh nation is determined to ensure the guilty are held accountable for the heinous crimes of November 1984 and that he sincerely hopes that other world leaders would now step forward to back international action. Peer Mohammad announced that this campaign will be taken forward in Jalandhur in Punjab on 10 December when an event, marking World Human Rights Day, will once again call for the genocide perpetrators to face an international criminal tribunal. The candle light march will commence at Gurdwara Nanak Mission Chowk at 5pm and finish at Gurdwara Model Town at 6pm. He called on those who believe in justice and the rule of law to participate in the event and, once again, remind the villains that they will be pursued until justice is served.
  24. Thirty years have passed since the pogroms of Sikhs in India. During the first week of November 1984, police, politicians, and government leaders organized and implemented pogroms against Sikhs throughout the country. This news footage takes us to refugee camps where survivors display raw wounds, search for missing loved ones, and share accounts of the killings. The reporter discusses how Sikhs themselves had to arrange for food provisions, and were living in squalor, bathing in gutters, and lacking medical care at the camps. “We are homeless. We are family-less. And moreover, above all, no safety. We can’t imagine how we’ll survive ourselves in this India,” recounts one survivor to reporter Ken Rees. Ken Rees continues: “Mothers, whose children had been killed, wept as they spoke. This was the story of just one 6-year old boy we met in the camp.” A translator told Rees, “Petrol was sprinkled on him and set on fire.” “He was set on fire?” repeated Rees, “Why?” The translator answered: “Because he is the son of a Sardar Ji [a Sikh man].” The news host and news reporter both speak to the Indian government’s attempts to restrict news access, by shutting down satellite communications or prohibiting reporters from entering the refugee camps or Trilokpuri, one of the worst sites of the massacres. Thirty years later, none of the architects of these killings has been held accountable for these gross human rights violations. The Indian government continues to deny survivors their rights to truth, justice, and reparations. On this anniversary, inform yourself by watching this video and reading Ensaaf’s report from 2004, Twenty Years of Impunityhttp://www.ensaaf.org/publications/reports/20years/. This report analyzes thousands of pages of previously unavailable affidavits, government records ,and arguments submitted to the 1985 Misra Commission, established to examine the massacres. The report reveals the systematic and organized manner in which state institutions perpetrated mass murder in November 1984 and later justified the violence in inquiry proceedings. http://sikhsiyasat.net/2014/11/07/rare-footage-and-survivor-interviews-recorded-just-few-days-after-november-1984-sikh-genocide/
