  1. I can't comment on that, Bhenji. There are some stories about some stuff added during the British Raj etc.
  2. Dear Bhenji I did a bit of a loose translation for a friend a couple of weeks ago. P.S. guys, anyone's welcome to correct me if I have misinterpreted anything. Jin ke kaarne Panth kio parkaash. I believe Guru ji is referring to Sri Akaal Purakh ji and saying that due to whom this Panth was started Oat takaawan javeinge singh unaan ke pas. Singhs will go to Him for seeking refuge. Darip mulak ki jaan ke khaveinge aap.(don't understand the word Darip) tabi krop hohe parmatma jhagra chale Harmandir mein aan. Parmaatma will then get 'angry' and there will be a battle in Harmandar Saheb. Begane bahot mareinge singh Guru ki shaan. Lots of the 'others' (begaane) will die but Guru's Singh will be in 'shaan' (pride?)---in a positive way. Tabi ek khalsa pragat howe Kila banavei Harimandar ko aan. Then a 'Khalsa' will rise and will make Harmandar Saheb a fort. (supposedly Sant Bhindranwale). Raaj chalsi randi ka faujaan charei Harmandar mein. The rule at that time will be of a widow (supposedly Indira Gandhi) and soldiers will attack Harmandar Saheb. Khur bhije ghore ka harmandir mein aan. The foot of a horse will be wet when it would enter Harmandar Saheb (with all the bloodshed). dat jaega khalsa ghor bipat ke baad. After a very hard time the Khalsa will get focused. khuar hoe sab milenge singh bipat main aan. Desperate Singhs in very hard times will come together. tabe Majha Malwa Duaba dukhi hove sabh graam. At that time, the areas of Majha, Duaba and Malwa will be very desperate (dukhi) Khand Khanda chare tab Amritsar Palteshwar ke dhaam. (indicates of an attack on Amritsar...but I don't quite understand the words fully) Tabi Singh fauj chare ataari mein aan. At that time will the Singh Fauj will reach Ataari. Amritsar pahunchkar itna khoon bahaave. They will shed so much blood in Amritsar... Ghore ka tang khoon mein bhij jaave. That a horse's leg will be wet in blood. Tab jalandhar ludhpur ko lut kare seher ambala loot. They will loot the cities of Jalandhar, Ambala and Ludhiana. dhaaee lakh khalsa hove shaheed sattar lakh hindu mar jaave. 200,000 of the Khalsa will be shaheed and 700,000 Hindus will die. tabi roos cheen hind mein char aave. Then Russia and China will attack Hindustan. ghor yudh mach kar sattar crore se staaraan crorre bach jaave. In a fierce battle, the population will be down from 700 million to 170 million. dilli takhat pe beh jaave guru ki fauj. Guru Ki Fauj will sit on the throne of Delhi. tabe sabe amrit paan karein. Then everyone will partake Amrit. tabe chalein jo panth ke jam ka baan na paave. Then the Panth will start 'that won't get the arrows of the jamdoot' (not very sure about the one in apostrophe) nanga bhukha mangta koi na jave langar sabe khave. There will be no one without clothes, food, no beggars...Everyone will get Langar. tabi kaljug main satjug hosi aan. That is when there will be satjug in Kaljug.
  3. Dear Bhenji/Bhaji, Please refer to the second post in this thread: http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/70276-keertan-notations/?p=568612 The images explain about notes and keys. Please do watch the video linked from you tube as well. It's a very simple explanation about how the note-scale can be changed according to how high or low you'd wish to sing. Please also refer to the post directly above your's where I've tried to explain what the notation is all about. Do not hesitate to ask me if you need help with anything in particular regarding the notations. I'll try my best to help
  4. Dear Dasamsarblohgranth ji, using the full-editor, there is a 'attach files' section below the box where you post your reply. (I hope I haven't made it more confusing!)
  5. Good God! You ARE a bhaji!!! What's with your display picture and new name? (isn't it a teeny bit girlish?) :mellow2:
  6. Adding more lucky numbers... I think your next user name should be 'Prabh-swami'. (Satt Satt Satt Prabh Swami) :D
  7. Han "Oh gal-baat kar rahe han." They're talking. Present tense (with plural subjects) "Oh gal-baat kar rahe han." He is talking. Present tense (with the singular subject being shown respect) Hai "Oh gal-baat kar reha hai." He is talking. Present tense (with a singular subject without the extra respect shown) San "Oh gal-baat kar rahe san." They were talking. Past tense (with plural subjects) "Oh gal-baat kar rahe san." He was talking. Past tense (with the singular subject being shown respect)
  8. Dear Bhenji, All of us (the sikhs you mention) are sikhs; as in we're all learners on a spiritual path. Due to human nature, we're bound to have different views and perspectives. Hence, the differences. To be fairly honest, the Kesri Lehar protests around the world that were held to stop Bhai Rajoana Ji's hanging was a little view of how our unity despite differences is. Wasn't that amazing? Bhenji, don't worry The Khalsa panth has been initiated by the orders of the Akaal Purakh Almighty Himself! He'll take care of all of us
  9. And what is it with people dowloading and sharing other people's pictures and putting them up as their own? My wedding pics have been shared and put up without my permission. I'm just glad people liked and etc. I would've have been SO devastated if I would've been subject to such judgements like these bibian are!
  10. Available for public viewing...I knew these photos are from Facebook!!!!! (*!*&$"*£&$#* Hypocrites) And I still don't understand the major 'flaw' that you're getting so worked up upon! I am SO glad that I'm not a bibi with a dumalla in India who is subject to judgement from every kind of rishtedaar, outsider and every so-called sikh they come across. I find it so disgusting! Stop targeting people man! Look into your own self!
  11. If I get a cut with a knife, it hurts. Just because I don't see the pain, does not mean that there isn't any.
  12. Bhaji, Under every number there is a keynote below which is a word of the line that's to be sung. The numbers are the beats of the taal for the shabad. The keynote below the number means that that 'sur' is to be played in that beat. The word of the lined below the keynote is to be sung when that beat and 'sur' are being played. Teen-taal has 16 beats. Therefore the above notations have the numbers/beats from 1-16. Had it been 'Dadra' the numbers/beats would've been 1-6 and so on. I hope I haven't made it even more confusing. Please do let me know if you don't understand anything in particular. I'll be happy to explain
  13. Bhaji, I think if one doesn't believe in God, they wouldn't believe in a soul's existence either. Without a belief in one's soul's existence, one continues to believe that they are the body they're in....
  14. Hanji bhaji, If you read Sri Ameer Bhandaar, (which is a teeka of SGGS ji by Bhai Mani Singh ji taksaal, Satto Gali) they've explained that Gurbani can be used as not only a mantar (Basic e.g. Mool-mantar, Gur-mantar, Beej-mantar etc)...but Jantar and Tantar (tantra) as well! And they've explained a few bits about Gurbani's Jantra usage as well. Very Interesting! Also, I think you've confused the 'mantar' to only being related to Hinduism. I might be wrong though....
  15. Well that's your point of view. I explained a Sikh's point of view to you. For a Sikh, Gurbani is not merely words but the ultimate truth. Ik Oangkaar is not merely words. It is the statement of truth given by our Guru that there is only one God. Now, the question is whether you're a sikh or not. Or whether you're an atheist or from some other religion wanting to know the about the existence of God according to Sikhs. Please, do make it a bit clear so we could try and discuss about your question from your point of view.
  16. One can do paath of the salok from Sukhmani Saheb to overcome the five thieves: Salok Kaam Krodh Ar Lobh Moh Binas Jaae Ahanmev ll Naanak Prabh Sarnaagti Kar Prasaad Gurdev ll There have been some hard times in life when certain people have caused me a lot of trouble. Obviously, after I was repeatedly hurt, the love and respect was replaced by hatred and anger. Every time I thought about those people, the memories of hurt and anguish came rushing to my mind. This continued even after I had broken any ties with them. After a while I noticed that I'm allowing these memories to take control over me because they control my mind and thus the emotions. Anger and hatred gave me nothing but headaches. Now I know what to do about it. When I feel anything negative about someone, I do not let any thoughts about them (or any situation related to them) come into my mind. I simply BLOCK THE THOUGHTS. I continue to do this until I can not only think, but also talk about them without any feeling of contempt or hatred in my mind. The above method described in bold, works well for me. BUT I'm not very sure about when I meet the person face to face...coz I'm still actively blocking any thoughts about them....So I'm never sure about what I'm feeling at that moment.....
  17. A Sikh's point of view is through the Guru's words, i.e. Gurbani. Entire Gurbani starts with IK OANGKAAR. A basic translation of 'Ik Oangkaar': There is but One God. That's the proof.
  18. I'd really like to know YOUR personal opinion about it. Why is there a need to post a bibi's photo (needless to say, without her permission ofcourse!) and ask the public whether 'it' is okay or not? Which part are you asking about? Bhenji's dumalla? the dhol? the public? or the bigger picture that's been cropped off where there is possibly gatka being played? Also, you should have specified it in your first post that you need an Amritdhari-only input. After some of the members of this site's community have already answered you decide to throw in some rules. I think it's very insulting! Extremely immature! Finally, I'll give my views after we've seen your's. "Come on, don't be meesna," Editted: This is not the first time I've seen this bibi's picture. There's loads of hers circulating on Facebook where even monay guys have commented that they shouldn't be wearing dumalla with jeans etc. Height of hypocrisy, this is!
  19. :chairspin: hahha....couldn't stop laughing...LOL!
  20. What is a 'flap'? Could you share an image of the style you'd like to tie?
