  1. SSA to all, My name is Kamaldeep Singh, a Music student studying in leeds. For a while I have wanted to record a purely dharmik dhadi jatha, being busy with my own projects I haven't had the time. But over summer next year i will have the time to record. Im looking for young people to submit a short audio or video clip of themselves just "jamming" or if possible either a rendition of "waar Baba Deep Singh Ji" or "Waar Banda Singh Bahadur". The EP will be aimed at the young Sikh community. I am looking to record 5 tracks to be released free of charge promoting Sikhi and dharmik geet. (all studio, travel and food costs will be covered by me) The project will be recorded in a professional studio in leeds/birmingham. Please let me know if you are interested, PM me if possible. Send your clips to sardar-dholi@hotmail.co.uk Thanks for Your time Rab Rakh
  2. OI Chiteya. How've you been?

  3. Kiddah Little Veer There are loads of ways of tying your dhari up. I generally leave mine kulla, unless im gigging or going to a wedding. Ill try and explain one of the more common and quicker ways of tying up your dhari as best i can. Ah and if you do it this way, make sure you wash your dhari atleast once a day, otherwise it'll start itching. Firstly brush down the sides of your dhari. Spray hairspray/gel on the sides (Just on the sides yet). brush down each side while using a hairdryer on the sides, this will keep your sides in place. Ten what your going to need is some cloth (similar to mal mal) about 5inches wide and 24inches long. now what to do is ...you know what bruv...this bit is a <admin-profanity filter activated> ...ill make a vid when i get a chance today and post it up somewhere for you. Ill message you my email address bruv. PEACE!

  6. what every happened to sikhi being about "universal unity"....rather than an us and them thing.
  7. I wouldn't wear a dhumala cus it dont look neat.I have to much pride to wear a messy looking pagh, Patiala Shai and African Pagh for me. You lots are well narrow minded though, saying stuff like a dhummala is the only way to tie a pagh. All I know is....I look DAMN good in a Pagh...especially a Turle-alli Pagh <<<<<<<Damn Fine...
  8. hear hear! also the malkit singh/daler mehndi turban makes one want to twist the left hand in the motion of changing a light bulb whilst lifting the right leg in an up and down motion! i think you two have just proved my point...and i dont starch my pagh, no one i know does. i think thats a bit stereotypical. And a patiala shai pagh is worn by most of the sikh community. and ye ur right...a dhummalla dont suit me...i just dont like the look of it.
  9. ....Ustad Vilayay Khan says in mirpuri "Je Akal Gaaney Da Raag Nai, Oh Gaaney Nai Allah Mangna"
  10. Do You Jugde People By Their Pagh/Dastaar? I've found that quite a few Singhs/Kaurs instantly judge someone by the style of pagh they wear.Personally I highly respect anyone that ties a pagh as it shows their pride in sikhi and confidence to stand out in a crowd. Well I moved to Leeds for Uni 6 weeks ago, and a few days ago I was walking round Corn Exchange and there was a Mr Singh on a stall selling kirpane, Kare etc. I saw him and i get well happy when i see another Mr Singh. I think i should state that he was wearing a dhumalla (to me i dont really care what style pagh someone wears) and i was wearing an african style pagh. So, I walked up to him and was gonna have a lovely chat with him. He looked up at me and looked backed down. So i said to him "satsriakaal Paaji" to him. He looked up and said, "Theirs nothing for you here". I was well taken a back with that comment, and he refused to sell me this sarbloh Karra that he had for sale there, and he wouldnt tell me why he wouldnt sell it to me. I dont know why but i got the feeling it was because of the style pagh i tied. So the next day i tied a Patiala Shai Pagh, and approached him again, he didnt recognise me but again refused to sell me a Maala. I then on the same day tied a dhumalla and went back, and he greeted me with a huge smile and we got into a long converstation, he sold me the karra. And then i told him that i was the other two singhs, he was shocked, he looked ashamed and again wouldn't explain why he wouldn't sell it to me. Take what you want from this and interperet it how you want. But i see it as people in our community jugde people on their pagh rather than their actions. Its happened to me countless number of times. Peace n Love

  20. Bro...heer ranjha is a persian based story....a little history for you guys...jatts, tarkhans and Huddals, all came from persia as one group and settled in punjab where they adopted the hindu/muslim faiths BUT kept a lot of the persian identity...such as the pagh (turban), the stories....and ever noticed how the punjabi talwar looks almost identical in size weight and shape to the persian shamshir...even use similar hilt designs. fact is bout 80-90% of punjabis have persian background, heer ranjha is a persian story.
  21. well then you mus'nt be punjabi. what r u then? besides Sikh. cause thats the obvious answer. what diffreence is there between some muslims from punjab..who say they are not punjabi and a sikh who claims the same then?? what language do u speak?? where do ur parents hail from? Straght Talker....lol i was hoping that this wouldnt go off topic, but it has...still no one knows what Jatt Jeona Morh was? Whats all this about punjabi being a kanjar culture? if you dont understand it and dont have it in your soul, then dont cus it.Ignorant narrow minded people on here.
  22. Thanks bro, But still, what religion was he...was he 100% sikh? I know that many sikhs pay respects to devi and shiv but was he sikh then?
  23. I grew up with stories like Jagga Jatt, Mirza Saibha, Heer Ranjha etc and i know the background of all of them through my baba repeatedly telling me them. I thought the same about Jatt Jeona Morh. Basically I always thought Jatt Jeona Morh was from a Sikhi family, but then i put on my second favourite, Surinder Shinda - Jeona Morh (by the way my favourite is Putt Jattan De), anyway i was thinking of the story after Jeona killed Dogar Jatt he goes to some mandir before Jeona gets killed...so im really confused about what religion Jatt Jeona Morh is. Anyone know the answer? cus its really bugging me, i even asked some of the greatest poets and lyricists (Teja Singh Tej, Jandu Lithranwala,Dev Thrikeywala etc) if they knew and they can't 100% confirm. ....HELP!!
  24. Yo who is kala afghana?...never herd of him/her/it before
