  1. I totally agree with you on the diet perspective but I think age matters too. In out great grandparents' times it was very common to get married at an early age, so that could be one factor too!
  2. The word marriage is fast loosing its meaning today. With men and women getting engulfed completely into their careers and fast lifestyle, getting married at an early age is seen more as a curse in one’s life. Almost everyone wishes to stay single, enjoy their independence, achieve their career goals, work and earn high pay-cheques, while very few decide to get married and begin a family. But, not taking the decision to getting married at the right age has its own cons. Late marriage leads to late pregnancy and its wide range of side-effects. Age is a very important criterion for women, especially for conception. Delayed age greatly affects the fertility of a woman, reducing the possibility of conception. Today, a huge number of couples are fighting infertility due to their age. The number of childless couples is increasing every day. According to a survey, in mid 1990s, only 13 percent of all married couples aging between 35 and 45 had no kids. But today, the number has increased to almost 40 percent which is quite shocking. - sorted out few points from reading
  3. Having gone through a similar situation, I would say that there is no support from the community at all. If anything, people will make you feel worse. My best support were the online discussion forums where I could talk to others in the same situation, and of course having faith in Waheguruji helps the most. Wishing you good luck with your IVF cycle!
  4. Great point about the raw greens. I actually never knew that. Such are the little helpful things you come to know when you get advice from others! in the first trimester everything is so messed up with the body that it is hard to decide what is good and what is bad for you. It is always helpful to do a little research and get advice from those who have similar experience.
  5. When you follow a strict meat-free and egg-free diet, you get many questions as to how do you meet your protein and iron needs during pregnancy. I would like to share a resource that explains what we might seem to be missing in our diet and how to compensate for it. http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/veganpregnancy.php please share more resources that you think are helpful!
  6. Good topic. I have heard it is beneficial to do jaap of the shabad "satgur saache dia bhej" while trying, and during pregnancy "sir mastak rakhia parbrahm" More input is needed from gursikh members!
  7. wjkk wjkf Thanks to the mods for creating this forum for young sikh couples for there journey to parenthood. I hope to see healthy discussions in this forum by those of us that are trying to conceive, pregnancy questions and new parenthood experiences and questions. Please feel free to post any questions you may have, and also share good health related articles here. I have been assigned the seva to run this sub-forum, as I have recently gone through these experiences myself. I hope we all can benefit from sharing our experiences. wjkk wjkf
  8. Veerji, whatever you can do for a fellow gursikh... We don't know when we will need sangat's help, so anything and everything you can do to help is acceptable in Maharj's charan. Let's not bring minor and insignificant differences in our beliefs and opinions into this, and lets all do benti to Maharaj rogee kaa prabh kha(n)ddahu rog || God eradicates the disease from the diseased person. This thread is for Moolmantar Jaap, anything extra is acceptable, but you are not required to post it here. Please feel free to do any other baani paath you feel right.
  9. ✿✿✿✿ 4788 ✿✿✿✿ Sangat Ji, Bibi Jagjeet Kaur Ji from Sacramento is suffering from a rare form of cancer, The doctors have said that only divine intervention can save her from this fast spreading disease. It is a request to please do as many mool mantar jaaps as possible for her chardikala and please do ardas for her deh-arogta (recovery from disease) Please post the number of mool mantar jaaps done for her on this thread so that a collective ardas can be done on sangat's behalf. For those who are not familiar with this chardikala singhnee, here is her story from her own pen:
  10. A Sikh is required to be optimistic and ready to face and address the problems; He should be courageous and ready to sacrifice for righteous cause. Passiveness, gloominess, despair and depression has no place in Sikh life. A Sikh always looks for the bright side, whether win or lose by how he interprets and reacts to everything that happens. He welcomes every day as it comes, and give it all he has got. He puts anger, sadness and regret behind. He always offers a helping hand and a comforting ear to all those in distress. A Sikh always remains in Charhdi Kala at all the times and under all the circumstances by submitting to the Will of God (Bhana). He prays for peace, prosperity and well-being of human race irrespective of caste color and creed. Under all the circumstances, while in Charhdi Kala, a Sikh must surrender before Will of God (Bhana Manana) and spread fragrance of blooming flowers of Sikh philosophy in this pretty, charming and beautiful world. taken from gurmat.info
  11. Follow Bundha's advice. Use an antiseptic ointment to prevent infection, and i would suggest to put a ball of cotton to cushion the ear while it heals. Also, to prevent this from happening again, use softer keski material if possible.
  12. Sangat jee, I need keertan files for this shabad, sung by as many different people/ different tunes as possible. Please help! gobi(n)dh ham aisae aparaadhhee || O Lord of the Universe, I am such a sinner! jin prabh jeeo pi(n)dd thhaa dheeaa this kee bhaao bhagath nehee saadhhee ||1|| rehaao || God gave me body and soul, but I have not practiced loving devotional worship to Him. ||1||Pause||
  13. I hope that YPS will offer full public apology in a day if not in hours. YPS is considered to be one of the top schools in Punjab and i am sure that they don't want a bad image. Such things are very common in Punjab, and they are even worse if compared to what happens to us in states or in other countries. Most cases go unreported, and in many cases the kids/parents don't want to get into the trouble of reporting the cases, call it ignorance, cowardly attitude or plain laziness. Principal should be fired and no sikh owned/run institution/government should give him any job for holding such beliefs. The main problem in Punjab is that there are not enough amritdhari sikhs. There is an imbalance ratio between amritdhari and non-amritdhari sikhs in punjab.. probably more than 95% of sikhs in punjab non-amritdhari.
