  11. Baba Harbans Singh Domeli Wale Baba Harbans Singh Domeli Wale were born on 20 September 1921 in the village of Haripur in district Sangrur in Punjab India. They were one of four sons of Mela Singh and Kirpa Kaur. The family was devoutly religious and Baba Jee were brought up as a Sikh from their birth. At only four years of age Baba Jee were inflicted with a severe form of polio which resulted in the paralysis of both of their legs. They were crippled and not able to walk for the rest of their life. Their movement was restricted to putting their weight on their arms and crawling on their knees on which they put padding when moving. Only a couple of years later Babe Jee suffered another tragedy with the unexpected passing away of their mother. Further misfortune was to strike their family soon after with their father losing the sight of their eyes. The tragic experiences suffered at such a young age led Baba Jee to a spiritual yearning. The Guru-Roop Panj Pyaare awaken or reveal the Naam within the seeker that leads to the beginning of the Spiritual Journey of Gurmat: Historical Background of Amrit Sanchar Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, on the occasion of Baisakhi of 1699 A.D., chose "Panj Piaras" who rose at the call of Guru Sahib to offer their heads, and created "Khalsa Panth". At this historical occasion of great importance Guru Sahib prepared "Amrit" (Khandey Di Pahul) by reciting five "Banis" namely, Japji Sahib, Jaap Sahib, Sudha Swaye, Chaupai Sahib and Anand Sahib and baptized those chosen five Sikhs with it. Amrit is compulsory After that Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji took "Amrit" from "Panj Piaras". From that day, to take "Amrit" (Khandey Di Pahul) from "Panj Piaras" was made compulsory by Guru Sahib for coming into the fold of "Khalsa". In this connection Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji has clearly given directives in one of the "Rehatnamas" (Manual for code of conduct) " Pratham rehat eh jaan khandey ki pahul chhake" Rules (Rehats) and Prohibitions (Kurehats) a) Rehats 1.Five Kakaar : To keep five "Kakaars" ( Kesh, Kangha, Kachh, Kara and Kirpan) was made compulsory after taking "Amrit". 2. Five Banis : To recite five Banis daily( Japji Sahib, Jaap Sahib, Sudha Sawaye, Chaupai Sahib and Anand Sahib) in the morning and in the evening So Dar Rehras and at night Kirtan Sohila. 3.Only Guru Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji : After taking Amrit, Guru of a Sikh is only Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. 4.No Discrimination of Caste : To treat all human being as equal. There should be no discrimination of caste or creed. b) Prohibitions (Kurehats) 1.Cutting Hair : Cutting hair is strictly forbidden in Sikhism. From your head down to your toes, no hair is to be plucked, cut, burnt or pically/surgically removed. 2.Intoxication : Consumption of alcohol, drugs, tobacco and other intoxicants is not allowed. Intoxicants are strictly forbidden for a Sikh. 3.Adultery : In Sikhism, the husband and wife must be physically faithful to one another. And for women all other men are just like fathers and brothers. 4.Meat : Sikhs are strictly prohibited from eating meat. for more info http://www.guruharra...it-sanchar.html Feedback:
