  2. post evidence here again....
  3. Its your test. It happens. Ghar tina ke jaye ke paer tina ke chum. (correct me if I am wrong) Rough translation is that do not return blows with blows when somebody insults/beats you. Go to their house and kiss their feet. The toughest test of all... Good luck in passing it.
  4. The top line from Punjabi is missing the translation of which says [The Singhs would] consume MARIJUANA, OPIUM, ALCOHOL and KEBAB's to their hearts delight. Would you kindly please provide that?
  5. This story is a real life study done by scientists and the like. They had to hide the findings for years. Our Gurus however have provided us with the correct guidance right from the start. (If only we could develop that strong trust) http://www.apparentlyapparel.com/news/the-truth-about-hair-covered-up-since-the-vietnam-war
  6. It is not only in Sikhism that hair is required to be long. God gave Samson in the Bible too the hukam to grow his hair. When he cut his hair his strength left him. When I was at school, people ( mostly Christians used to ask me about my long hair) I used to refer to them the Samson story and they completely agreed with me. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samson This was when I was just ten years. How else would they understand because I did not fully understand either. I knew the story of the shote sahibzadhe but people undertand best if you take examples from their own religion. Samson's is a story which teachers used to tell us on the sort of relugar basis.
  7. My brother had the same problem. I told him to do sukhmani sahib. He said he does not know it. I told him just listen to it - download it and listen. He did it and he got married with a Gursikhni who does simran and is very happy now. Ask the Guru to guide you. Registering in certain Guradwaras helps I think where they have a sort of fast meet and greet service for all interested parties. That is where my brother met his wife. It was just a one in a thousand match as they say that it is hard for people to actually end up finding anyone.
  8. Rāg gūjrī mėhlā 5. Kāhe re man cẖiṯvahi uḏam jā āhar har jī▫o pari▫ā. Sail pathar mėh janṯ upā▫e ṯā kā rijak āgai kar ḏẖari▫ā. ||1|| ਰਾਗ ਗੁਜਰੀ, ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਤੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਹੈ ਮਨ! ਤਰੱਦਦਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦ ਕਿ ਮਾਣਨੀਯ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਆਪ ਤੇਰੇ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਗਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ? ਚਿਟਾਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜੀਵ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਪਜੀਵਕਾ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂਹਰੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਮਨ ਤੂੰ ਉਦਮੁ ਕ੍ਯੋਂ ਚਿਤਵਨ ਕਰਤਾ ਹੈਂ ਜਬ ਸਭ ਕੇ (ਆਹਰਿ) ਉੱਦਮ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਫਿਕਰ ਮੇਂ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਆਪ ਪੜ ਰਹਾ ਹੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਪਰ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਂਤੁ (ਸੈਲ) ਖੁਸਕ ਪੱਥਰ ਵਾ (ਸੈਲ) ਪਰਬਤੋਂ ਕੇ ਪਥਰੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਕਰੇ ਹੈਂ ਤਿਨਕਾ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਹਰੀ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਹੀ ਬਨਾਇ ਰਖਾ ਹੈ॥੧॥ According to this explanation in punjabi sael refers to the rocks of the mountains. We would think that there is no nourishment there. However Waheguru has provided nourishment for the beings that will be born there even before they are born.
  9. When we have been given the Mool mantar by Guru Nank Dev Ji - we refuse to believe. Mool mantar dha path gives the person who recites it everything that they may desire for. However when someone writes a book and says do this and that you will get what you want - we run for it. (how selfish) Juga jugantar khayi kaye - we have been eating and eating in all the past ages. Ḏeḏā ḏe laiḏe thak pāhi. The Giver continues giving but the recipients grow weary of receiving. Jugā juganṯar kẖāhī kẖāhi. All the ages through the partakers partake of His provision. Hukmī hukam cẖalā▫e rāhu. The Commander, by His command, makes man walk on His path. Nānak vigsai veparvāhu. ||3|| O Nanak! the carefree Master makes merry. The mool mantar has been created to give us what we need most. Soul food. Gurbani for our souls. Let us also do the mool mantar and reap the full benefits of naam. The wealth which if we get we can spend how we want. We can carry it across with us as well. (can't get that line, but will post it soon) It wiill help us in this life and in the next as well. Let us wisen up and turn to our saviour. He is waiting for us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ga0-TexpTs

  11. Dear Sadh Sangat Ji, I just realised that I was using apps - Gurbani Nirvaan and Gurbani Ujagar which use English translation from Dr Sant singh Khalsa. There is a particular line which was with the wrong meaning. However there are other lines which have not been translated correctly. Please kindly inform all your relatives and friends. Refer to this thread. http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/77736-is-this-translation-correct-please-explain-whywhy-not/ and also Suṇ galā ākās kī kītā ā▫ī rīs. 1. Hearing of the etheric realms, even worms long to come back home. Suṇ galā ākās kī kītā ā▫ī rīs. 2. By hearing celestial things even worms (the vile) wish to emulate. The No 1 states that worms wish to come home whereas Gurbani clearly states the word riis.... which means to copy. This means that the first meaning is wrong. We need to sort this out as this is a major problem of us and our youth getting the wrong meanings of Gurbani. The wrong translations have been used and distributed far and wide with the use of apps. These need to be corrected. Only God knows how many other wrong translations of the bani have been done. Please be alert and inform as many people as possible especially the people who make those apps.

  13. Wilhelm Wilder (Will) is a talented actor stuck on a New York City children's TV show where he portrays Bad Luck Bunny, a hapless green rabbit. Feeling a failure, he bears his fate with touching self-irony, but grows sulky and petulant when he thinks that his wife, daughter and all his friends have forgotten his 40th birthday. In the confusion following a road accident, all the world believes he is dead. Instead of rectifying the situation, he decides to fulfill a fantasy and attend his own funeral. Here he will learn what everyone really thinks of him. With the aid of his best friend Rad, an Indian restaurant-owner, Will becomes Vijay Singh, a handsome and gentlemanly Sikh, complete with turban and beard. On this memorable occasion and in the days that follow, Vijay is surprised to learn some embarrassing truths about Will. And on top of it, his newly-widowed, beautiful wife Julia takes an unseemly, romantic interest in this elegant, sexy stranger. Will confronts a unique problem: everyone likes Vijay, and most of all, he likes Vijay, more than he ever liked himself. - Written by Sam Garbaski This is what the film is all about...They have used Vijay to represent someone who is impersonating another person..
  14. I saw the trailer but I did not see the title of the book. It looks like a book with very thin pages. It does not look like the Sri Guru Granth Sahib. However I am not sure. If it is then it is wrong and the scene should be removed.
  15. After encountering a second line which had a problem in translation, I have now discovered where the problem lies and how to correct it. When we go to Sri Granth, please change the option on the top right hand side corner to Bhai Manmohan singh. The English translations done by Dr Sant Singh Khalsa are not correct. Please let us read the correct meanings of Gurbani and quote the correct meanings in English as well.
  16. Please notice the difference in meanings in the English translation. These are done by Bhai Manmohan Singh. The ones quoted above have been by Dr Sant Singh Khalsa. When we go to Sri Granth please change the options listed above on the right hand side to Bhai Manmohan Singh. Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa's meanings are changing the true meaning of Gurbani.

With each tongue lakhs over lakhs times, I would repeat the Name of the world's Lord. Ėṯ rāhi paṯ pavṛī▫ā cẖaṛī▫ai ho▫e ikīs. In this way of the Bridegroom, there are ladders, by ascending whose steps, I would become one with Him. Suṇ galā ākās kī kītā ā▫ī rīs. By hearing celestial things even worms (the vile) wish to emulate. Nānak naḏrī pā▫ī▫ai kūṛī kūrhai ṯẖīs. ||32|| O Nanak! 18. I think the world viewed muslims with a totally different eye until the 9 11 attacks and many others which followed. It is not only the sikhs who want to be far away from them but others like Goans, and other jataa have started to develop a hate for them. It is their evil intentions and activities which start these feelings in other people. Today my son has an invitation to go to his friend Ali's house, but I don't feel like sending him at all. If I had not heard about their grooming activities I may have been more comfortable. However there are some muslims who believe in Guru Nanak Dev Ji with much more devotion than us. There was a muslim lady who came into the Guradwara and offered a prayer and she instantly got what she asked for. This lady used to come to the Guradwara and offer a big size rumala for the Guru Granth Sahib Ji once every week without any fail. We used to admire their shardha. There is nothing wrong with helping poor muslims as it is painful seeing people travelling a long distance for worship. How often do our Sikhs travel that far devotionally to a Guradwara regularly, if they don't have one nearby. Maybe they have a lesson to teach to us after all - about devotion.

  22. The English translation is wrong as the one in punjabi below clearly states that God has created life in the stones and rocks and is nourishing it. the word 'meh' from the line sail mathar meh means inside.... inside the rocks and stones. The meaning that he used rocks and stones to create beings is completely wrong and needs to be corrected.
