  1. Another interesting thing i heard was how many GurSikhs found multiple meanings to that ikonkaar. They all correlated to the same thing, i.e 1 god but I deeply believe that we over simplify this one crucial phrase in Gurmat.
  2. Except we don't deal with similarities. There are words in Gurbani that sound starkly similar but mean the polar Opposite. We don't pronounce it OMKAR. We pronounce it ONKAR. By saying their Similar that doesn't mean their the same. "Uuraa" in "Ik Oankaar" is left open on top to represent Akaal Purakh (timeless being) and hence should be pronounced with an open sound "Oankaar" not the likes of "Om Kaarr". This is the correct Pronunciation taught by the Damdami Taksal which was started by Guru Gobind Singh Ji as a means to teach Sikhs proper Santhiya and pronunciation of the words. Omkar and Oankar are different words (though words hardly does justification) and as such linking them together is highly wrong. That is why I mentioned the need of Santhiya.
  3. Cool, now go and Read the one we currently follow. Most of the Rehitmaryadas which were created after the departure of the 10th Guru were flawed. Even the ones that were created during the time of the Guru Sahib were constantly changing. The RehetMaryadas are a code of conduct. If any of it contradicts Gurbani then we're to ignore it altogether Sorry but what lol. The Sikh oath is to uphold Justice and good will. I just proved that with a verse from Gurbani. Get it through your head. My lies? lmao. Are you now saying our Gurbani is filled with lies because they don't match you're expectations? I hate to break it to you but the RehitMaryadas were all written by GurSikhs and not the Guru Sahibs, So once again. Find it in Gurbani this supposed oath of Sikhs. Arguably the only one any Sikh will accept is the one that we follow as of Today. The Akal Takhat's one. Most of the RehitMaryada were very contradictory so it was then in the 1930s that Sikh Scholars,Jathedhars and the Akal Takhat got together and forged a proper one. Taking into account all others. Please learn our History if you want to discuss this with us. The bold is rejected by all Sikhs. God's light is infused in everyone. I'm glad you asked all that. Because time and time again Gurbani points out the Vedas are false. They contain KERNELS of truth in there. SAME with Islam. There is overlap IN EVERY religion. The concept of Yuga are also a massive debating point as they don't only speak of time periods but also speak of actual states of minds for some Sikhs. False again. The first word wasn't Om in Sikhism. Do you know why Sikhs laugh at Hindu traditions? Because the rituals that were follow were deemed mundane and pointless by our Guru Sahibs. If you bother reading Japji Sahib and not just listening to whatever some random person will tell you, you'll see WHY Sikhs reject Hinduism. this is where Sikh Santhiya might help you a little. Most Layman Sikhs mispronounce it completely. False again. We don't think their incarnations of God in the same sense as Avatars. We believe they have god's light within them and they carry God's message. They asserted time and time again they weren't god. The Vedas were deemed useless by the Sikh Gurus. As I just pointed out by the quote from Guru Gobind Singh Ji. lol what? Time and time again it was pointed out that Hinduism in general was a flawed ideology. It encompasses many beliefs and practices Polygamy. Regardless of how you speak it is flawed if it allows such practices to happen. If you want to play that game then let's go for it. Go to a Muslim site and tell them Islam also comes Hinduism. Do the same to any Christian Site. I would love to see how that goes down. I don't get why you feel the need to only focus on the similarities. If you didn't notice, Islam and Sikhism also have similarities. The Big Bang coincidentally is also arguably mentioned in the Quran. So please. Before calling anyone a thief please learn that similar Ideas and concepts are a common trend in all Religions. So the Sikh Guru were Jackasses? Did you know that they also reference the bible,Quran and other Scriptures in there too. They were also well versed in the Quran and (going by the mention of Adam and the bible I believe) of the Bible. You just dug your own grave. You just said and admitted they were well taught in many religious scriptures. BUT in Gurbani they are ALL rejected and told time and time again their imperfect and completely ignore them. Implying that either A) the Guru Sahibs didn't consider the Vedas as the true, flawless means to attain enlightenment B) You are now making up statements without looking at the proper Gurbani. So allow me to make this Crystal Clear. Find me Gurbani Quotes, that's right from our Scriptures. Which tell us we're born to Protect Hindus. lol, Go on. Look at our scriptures. Ignore the RehetMaryadas which are constantly changing. Go to the Source which is our Gurbani.
  4. No offense but you're looking at the period AFTER the departure of the 10th Guru. If you bother learning your history and actually read the proper Sikh Scriptures you would know how utterly wrong you are. Sikhs don't "shave" as it falls under the Category of Kesh. The only Oath in play the one all Sikhs take when Partaking in Amrit, that they give themselves to the Guru and God. Not to Hindus lmao. 2 Hindus told me that their religion allows them to kill whoever they want? does that mean I should believe them? lmao extreme example but you get my point. If you actually look at History you'll note that many religions have done all sorts of things History dictates something else. It can be tampered with. But the teachings of the religion CAN'T. So unless you can find a quote from the Dasam Granth, Guru Granth Sahib Ji which explicitly states that Sikhs are the protectors of Hindus, your points are worth next than nothing. Since we're on the topic, Let's look at the Dasam Granth and wreck all the arguements you have made with one single Quote. This is from Bachtar Natak which was written by Guru Gobind Singh Ji as his autobiography. Here Hinduism is being pointed as being Flawed. To the point that Guru Sahib states those who turned their backs on the Vedas were true followers of the lord. and once again from the same passage. THAT is the true Purpose of Sikhism. THAT is the Oath that all Sikhs are told to Enshrine. To PROTECT people from Evil actions, Do you know that Sikhs also protected Muslims during the Mughal empires might. Innocent Muslims who were harmed asked help and the Sikhs provided that. I guess by you're logic We're the protectors of Islam too. Do you know there are Sikhs that go out of their way to help Christians. Look we're the protectors or Christianity now. It's called having humanity and compassion and protecting the weak. Not Protecting Hindus. Frankly Guru Gobind Singh Ji was extremely outspoken about Hinduism in general. All the Sikh Guru Sahib were. It would help if you actually read the Scriptures rather than spewing nonsense someone told you. How do you function in Society? Do you do this when you're going into school/college/university to sit a test. Do you sit down, ask your friends or do you consult your textbooks? Sikhism was around well before Hindus needed Protection. At-least to the point they were afraid of their own faith. Sorry but had it been the other way around and Muslims were being Oppressed Sikhs would have done the same thing and protected their rights. Government protects all rights to practice one's own religion without conviction. That doesn't mean the Government is suddenly "Pro"- religion. It just means they used their common sense and applied Rationality to a situation. Guru Gobind Singh Ji and various other Guru Sahib's made it clear that Hinduism is flawed. Gurbani constantly mentions how imperfect their gods are. I find it hilarious someone would suggest that Sikhs are there to protect the Hindus. LOL. Just because someone stands up for someone else doesn't mean their a part of that other person's problem. it just means they use their rationality and actual good moral compass to do something about it. Sikhism was founded by Guru Nanak and do you want to know the first thing he said after his commune with God? THERE IS NO HINDU AND NO MUSLIM. Does that not clear it all? It isn't just that. Kesh also represents someone giving up their duality and embracing the will of god. By letting their hair grow and not shaving/grooming it. It's one of the first steps in giving up Duality as it's a Physical part of your body that defines you as you.

    2 Questions..?

The English literal translation of gurbani (not the interpretation but the pronunciations) is a really good asset and a big thanks to the kind sikhs who spent their time going through Gurbani and doing such a feat. But I recommend to any Sikhs who are reading Gurbani to at-least try and learn the Gurmukhi too. Even the most accurate Gurbani translations can be flawed, but Gurbani in Gurmukhi is perfect and un-tampered.
  6. My friend take my advice on this. Do not confine Gurbani to certain attributes. Certain Gurbani does mention divine protection, and it shalll invoke it for you. But at the same time do not disregard the other pure words of our Lord for them. All Gurbani can give you protection, help, guidance. Rise at Amritvela. Sit down, open your Gotka and read Japji Sahib. But don't just read it, if you struggle to understand the complex Gurmukhi then have the translations with you. Ponder on what is being said, with your total concentration think of Gurbani, what is being said and try and connect to god. Do not do Gurbani just to change you're luck. Do it to change you're life. Gurbani is so powerful our Karam, our Destiny is constantly changing on the pleasure of our Lord. Accept this as not misfortune but a blessing from Waheguru. He has helped you find him once again. Here in your misery an despair you turned to Gurbani. Now take advantage of it and even after you're luck turns (and I assure you it will turn if you do as much Patt as I can) keep doing you're patt. Don't use it as a temporary relief. Use it as a life requires water. Live it.
  7. I had a similar line of thinking about inter-faith anand karaj. I was all for it. I had a really long discussion with a more wise sikh and after we went over the Lavan I agreed I was wrong. The problem is these people don't look towards Gurbani for the answers, they look at the basic facts of our religion. They argue that equality means anyone can marry in a Gurudwara but in actuality Equality doesn't mean we should allow all manners of things to take place that we would disapprove. Think of Sikhism as a country, run by the Lord. We're given clear instructions (forget the Rehet Maryada which can change but look at the Lavanz which are unchangeable) their clearly referencing 2 people who accept Guru Sahib as their guide. A Non-Sikh wouldn't do that. A muslim can't accept that as it would be blasphemy and the same for Christians. Our rules apply to Sikhs, That doesn't mean that we don't see muslims who marry within their own faith as husband and wife. That doesn't mean We consider 2 christians who are married as being "not married". We preserve the sanctity of marriage. For all Faiths, but that doesn't mean we'll let other people defile ours by not even bothering to read our Gurbani and basically lying to Guru Sahib during the Pirehe.
  8. LOL omg Simran that may have made me laugh for a good few minutes. Also if you want people to learn about Sikhism the perfect venue is a Gurudwara for several major reasons. One there will be visual depictions of our History which can be explained in detail with aids, you'd be in the literal centre of Sikh learning in terms of the average Sikh Community and people can (rather having to eat meat which many sikhs oppose though this is all an iffy) Langar which is an integral part of society. You could sit there and discuss how it started, how Guru Amar Das Ji made the Emperor of India sit with commoners and dine there and so on. No self respecting Muslim would provide Pork at a venue where you're going to be discussing their Quran and similar rules would be followed by Jewish People, Christians etc. Why are you going out of your way to cater for the Western Folk. Why should you have to assimilate :c No Self Respecting Sikh would go to places such as these. What are you going to get done in terms of learning about your Religion in a Greek Restaurant. It's so westernized and "whitified" , you're better off sitting in a Langar Hall and having a peaceful discussion. You're more inclined to absorb the History of our Faith rather than Greek culture which is awash with Whiteness! For anyone who didn't get this, this post is meant to be a poorly written satirical form. Poorly written as I don't know if I succeeded or not. Also if anyone's wondering, Greek Food is pretty nice.
  9. It brings a smile to my face imagining someone such as Baba Ranjit Singh Ji Dhandhiriawale (if that's how you spell it) using Twitter.
  10. May I interject and ask if you're the person organizing this all? Are you either Hardeep or the Jeet.S person?
  11. It's just as flawed as Western Culture, in-fact in certain areas it is far more flawed. You don't need to be a sociology professor to see even that. lol have you heard their songs? most of them are romanticizing the concept of forbidden love, partying etc. How is that less damaging than some western genres? Many sikhs? you used the word many. Do you have a statistic? what? xD. Even the ignorant masses who know little about Sikhism have a certain love for it. No I don't think it's wrong as certain shows can prove educational and even beneficial to one's intellect. Not all shows are documentary based, there are great shows that are works of fiction but at the same time are based in real life eras. Laws, the social status and all these issues are presented there while also providing people with a source of entertainment. If you're that worried about them affecting people then don't watch them. You're under the delusion that everyone is a mindless sheep that will copy everything they see on T.V. When did I say that? Do you enjoy making up little statements? This all predates back to the time when the first immigrants they choose this method of merge with the British masses as they felt it was the best way for them to get along with the natives. As a result they taught their kids these similar and very unorthodox methods. However THEIR kids have actually broken out of this web. They are ADOPTING Sikhi Sarop, they are taking part in Sikhi and they ARE proud to be Sikhs. You don't need to look further than you're own local Gurudwara to see how this is benefiting Society. A Majority of Christians don't follow the 10 commandments. They fornicate, curse and this is a daily occurrence. There are muslims who don't follow their own rules, they eat pork and don't bother doing Nimaaz BUT they still consider themselves Muslims. The same is happening to Sikhism. BUT unlike those faiths ours is actually going through a renaissance in the west where people ARE becoming more aware of their religion. Rather than a downward spiral as you're painting it, its actually the opposite. These occurrences are slowly dwindling. Western Culture also encompasses protection of the rights of all people, the freedom to practice your own religion and provides better social benefits to its people than other countries. Say India. To answer your question the westernization that took place 30-40 years ago by the less aware fore-fathers IS now being combated and is proving fruitful in many cases. And Indian/Punjabi culture isn't detrimental? Rather than only demonizing the west maybe you should go take a walk in the Punjab you seem to enjoy speaking highly off. Sikhism there is a dire state, Gurudwara are run by corrupt officials, the caste System is now being re-implemented, Sikhs there are going into drugs, Guru Granth Sahib's Biadhbi is becoming more and more common and Pakhandi Baba are running rampant and preaching anti-gurmat messages. No-where did I say that. Learn to read before making baseless statements. Do you know why so many girls/guys are actually being driven away from Sikhism? it isn't the English names or the identity. It's actually Punjabi Culture, they detest it as they see it as backwards and intolerant. People have warped Sikhism and linked it to Punjabism and as a result they end up rejecting it. Until someone actually helps these people make a distinction between Sikhism and Punjabi culture these misconceptions will arise. People like you who are so hopelessly in love with Punjab and Punjabism are the prime cause of all this. It's pretty apparent from anyone here you're not annoyed Sikhism is dying, you're irked that no one likes Punjabi anymore lmao. Hence why you paint we should eat "punjabi" food rather than "sunday roast" (not a clue what this is) lmao and preach against people taking part in Football. Which ironically encourages people to get off their backsides and enjoy the outdoors.
  12. Correct! You can go up in Harmandir Sahib, to prevent people standing standing about Guru Sahib there are even other Guru Granth Sahib Ji being read right above each other I believe. I can't confirm this but I definitely saw something like that the last time I was there. The children are looking over at the edge which is nowhere near Where Maharaj holds court. I'd like to add that if anyone does Visit Harmandhir Sahib they should go upstairs if they can, the view is not only breath-taking but so peaceful and pure.
  13. Something to brag about at the next family dinner I presume. Most of the ones I met walk around more like peacocks with their feathers open than actual sevadars. If you want to see who the real sevadars are just go and visit a Gurudwara whenever there isn't a program, or look inside the Kitchens, serving areas. The Sevadars who work hard there are more in line with the actual point of Seva. I understand that there is administrative tasks and other chores needed in running a Guru Ghar but most people seem confined to just meetings, bragging and walking around with some sort of authority over everyone else.
  14. How do you know she has no life? lmao. Are you a Brahmgyani that knows all that happens? I doubt that. What's there to debate? you're attacking me over an anime without actually exploring why it's up. People feel the need to jump in whenever they feel like that. That's the point of a forum. Let me remind you what a "forum" is. It's an open discussion, i.e not confined to certain individuals. what makes you better than anyone else? what on earth allows you to determine who is significant and who is not? Guru Nanak Preached equality and here we have you calling someone else insignificant. I worry if you're attention span is restricted to just 1 person. I manage to communicate/discuss with multiple people no problem. As do far more knowledgeable and flexible sikhs than I. The only person acting like a child here is you. You insult everyone, act with an air of superiority and you try and fail miserably to demean others.
  15. Just gonna quote this. Those words are so...no words to describe how profound they are.
  16. lmao. That. Siropa are meant to honor people, to acknowledge what they did for the Panth. At-least that's what I thought. Nowadays people will give it anyone just for showing up. This "Ma" is clearly a fraud, rather than giving her a Siropa Takhat Sri Hazur sahib should have done a lecture on not following for Pakhandi Baba etc with her present. The Irony would make it all that more memorable.
  17. Kizaru is hardly the "angriest person" around. Considering the fact the fact he exhibits any other emotion except anger. The scene is question is Kizaru trying to stop Zephyr stealing the Dyna Stones which are weapons of Mass destruction. Zephyr intended to use them to destroy and then kill loads of innocent people. You should actually look at our History, considering it is also extremely violent on first glance. Rather than attacking something maybe learn a little before. I agree. It's a gif. Why would people pay attention to my signature? the whole point of the signature is to differentiate me from everyone else. To identify me. Why on Earth would they pay more attention to what's on my signature than to what's being said in a thread? Ironic you would say that when all you do is preach hatred.
  18. OP stated he wants to be a better Sikh. harsharan Bhaji is right, anger isn't the answer.
  19. Well California did from what I heard. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1984_anti-Sikh_riots#California_State_Assembly_Finds_Government_of_India_Responsible_for_Genocide_of_Sikhs
  20. Script? lmao. If you feel you lack the maturity to comprehend something like that, its fine with me. Please do bring them out. It might help if you got off the net and actually coloured in your Donald Trump pictures. Let me reclarify. You said "his good name" a good name does not equal having an immense amount of wealth. One can be extremely wealthy but at the same time be a horrible individual. If making a billion constitutesa worthy candidate then I guess by your logic every billionaire can run for president and would be an amazing one. Watch out guyz, mark zuckerberg gonna be the next runner. The fact that you're trying to overlook the fact he did that is pretty hilarious. If he can't handle something on a lower political stage like that, how do you expect him to handle things in office? how do you expect him to deal with the massive amount of criticism he will receive. I'm glad you phrased it that way because that's exactly what Trump did. The Senator called him a Jackass so Trump insulted him back and then took it a step further. I wonder how he would react if someone leaked his personal details. He would blow up. Bear in mind this is the same guy who said he would date his daughter if she wasn't related to him lmao. Then again he is your hero. let me clarify. You said "speaking your mind" cool let's go from there. IF someone has an incredibly racist remark he should just say it, IF someone decides to speak ill of Sikhs he should just say it. Because who cares about thinking and then speaking lmao. Just say whatever comes into your mind and be done with it. Apologizes in advance but you sound like one of those apologist who seem to enjoy letting people live in the delusion that actions don't have consequences. Don't worry, you'll grow up and grow out of it.
  21. You clearly have no idea how a post-pregnant mother has/deals with certain issues. It's a valid excuse lol she asked for it, didn't receive it so she was left with no choice but to do it during the deposition. I wonder if you talk to your own mother like that lmao. Yes because Money=Good name. Those poor simpletons who try to do good in the world but haven't a penny to their name. What a bunch of evil, vicious people. The fact that you can't see he's at fault is only further proving you see the sun shining out of Trump's <banned word filter activated>. But you're right. Next time a foreign Diplomat will insult Trump he should just release their public details to the press. As any mature person would do. You're right. If someone's mind suddenly has a racist thought they should gather the press and say it. Speaking your mind ladies and gentlemen lmao. How lmao? The fact that you think politeness and maturity is a bad thing in a leader is a massively stupid thing for anyone to say. Were our Guru Sahib's bad leaders then? they spoke politely and with the utmost maturity to anyone, even their opponents. I think not. Rather than measuring people on their wealth actually try and measure it based on their intelligence, maturity, rationality and reaction to stress. The fact you want to defend Trump's actions show you're nothing more than the type of person who is happy letting someone get away with literally anything. Trump could murder someone and you would blame the victim. Trump could insult Sikhs worldwide and you'd literally just blame them and consider Trump infallible. Grow up, no one in this world is perfect. Especially not someone like Trump who considers Wealth the most important thing in the world.
  22. A deposition isn't the same as a court battle lmao. She asked for a medical break, she even said she had expected to receive one but trump and the lawyers insisted on an earlier lunch. She wanted to do the pumping then, the receipts from the deposition ordering lunch confirm that. His good name? lmao. Alright. He also gave out a senator's private number to the press and told them to give it a call and the number went through lol. And this time before you comment this was during a press conference, so it's hardly "propaganda". YOu don't even need to look further than his own twitter feed, he happily disses anyone who disagrees with him. If you think that's the format for a good leader then go for it lmao. Only on twitter? Yeah you should see some of his speeches as well. He's childish and immature, not to mention his ego is bigger than the size of texas. Yes that's definetely leadership material. tell you what by your logic every billionaire is fit to lead. I never said I had a name among current leaders lmao. Their ideals any good leader should encompass. Maturity, rationality and a link to the common people. Trump loves bringing up the fact he's a success story. He also enjoys getting into petty squabbles and takes no time in spitting back fire. All the examples you aforementioned were by people who have a slightest bit of maturity. Had that been trump he would have made it escalate further with more insults. If you feel the need to back Trump then go for it. He seems like an egotistical manchild that will whine and complain if he doesn't get his toy.
  23. Are you for reals? What would you have had her do? sit here and let her leak out during the deposition? She pulled out the pump after they refused to give her the break. What on earth did you expect her to do. If you needed the toilet and couldn't hold it in what would you do? That was the legal fees for the law suit as she lost. How is this not trivial? can you actually compare this to let's say a meeting regarding international affairs for the future of a country? This incident would have hardly bankrupted him as the lawsuit certainly not. However it would paint the entire country in a bad light. How would the Chinese feels if he passed a remark about them? or even any other country? the whole point of being a world leader is taking the fire but keeping your cool along side actually have the proper tools to handle and defuse any incident that may occur. on such shallow means? I already asserted beforehand that was the only incident I was aware of. I'm probably the prime example of the ignorant masses. Every little thing makes a difference and if he can't keep his cool in the light of something like this how on earth does it make him leadership material? Are you now asserting that we should say what we want in the face of another world leader. Let us assume these rumors are 100% accurate. Would you be happy if your leader went and did something like that to a foreign diplomat. Sure it wouldn't declare war but would likely make things a tad sour between countries. Anyways I'm gonna stop replying here. You clearly know a tad more than me but I'm far from brainwashed. I'm reading up on various materials including parts from his own website I believe and I'll probably make a valid evaluation on him then. A good leader in my opinion is someone who knows their stuff, is willing to take difficult decisions but at the same time remain calm and keep his temper at all times.
