  1. Being born in the West or living in the West does not make you a Westerner. A cat doesn't become a dog if its born inside a kennel. Worrying about which country or race you belong to is a waste of energy. All the nations of the world are empty lines on a map - the Kingdom of Akaal Purakh is endless and timeless, it transcends all these manmat divisions of humanity into this race or that. It is the only qaum worth belonging to.
  2. Politicians are only as good as the people they represent. If our politicians are uncharistmatic and lacking in imagination it is because the people who elect them, apnaay, are exactly the same. Trouble with our lot is that we suffer from what I call a Bhindranwale complex, where we're constantly sitting on our haunches waiting for someone like Sant Ji to turn up and do all our fighting for us. However men like this do not come along but a few times every generation, so we make do with charlatans and fools leading us instead. Rather than waiting for another Bhindranwale, it would be better if each and every Sikh focused on becoming a Bhindranwale themselves. I have no doubt that we would also start to see a general improvement in the character of Sikh politicians if we pursued this goal.
  3. Because the Koran and the Bible are just books brother. Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is not a book, but our living Guru, far too precious to be handed out to just anyone - especially given the current rampancy of beadbi against Gurbani. There is no telling how these people would use them. Your concern is a just one though. Parchaar amongst non-Gurmukhi speaking peoples is undoubtedly made more difficult by the fact that we can't thoughtlessly circulate our scriptures as dawa men and evangelists do with theirs. The solution is to preach Sikhi by word of mouth. Don't have to become a parchaarak, just tell your friends and loved ones about it.
  4. Don't know what it could be. Punjabis account for a large chunk of the population here, so it only follows that they would also account for a similar proportion of crimes such as murder. If there is any organized crime, then they are keeping themselves anonymous very well. My dad and I were sitting in the park as he was drinking some beers, and we were approached by a security guard who asked him to stop. He did, and we got talking. The bloke informed us that Southall is now officially one of the worst places in London for knife crime and for drugs. Drunk apnaay are supposed to be responsible for many of these incidents.
  5. Genie is right. Puraatan Singhs who chose to make their homes outside the Punjab and were confronted with the immediate problem of a lack of Sikh women, would usually marry local girls and in doing so bring them into the Sikh fold. This happened en masse with the Dakhni/Hazoori Sikhs of Maharashtra, and the Patna Sikhs of Bihar. The phenomenon is repeating itself today. Plenty of young Punjabi Sikh mundaay in the UK are marrying girls from Eastern Europe. What's more they actually take these women to the Gurdwara with them, along with any kids they have [occasionally you even see one with a little joora or patka]. I've never observed the same thing happening with a Sikh girl marrying outside the faith. If she isn't basically an atheist already, she converts to the religion of her new husband and raises her kids in the same tradition. These Sikh girls also tend not to target men from traditional, conservative and family-minded cultures like the Polish and E. Europeans, but blacks and Western Europeans whose values are very different from our own.
  6. Good stuff, but I think you guys are confusing causes with effects. I do not believe male effeminacy is being consciously fomented by the Western capitalist machine, rather it's being exploited by it. The metrosexual man represents several new consumer markets [male grooming, men's health], and since the overriding objective of Western capitalist society is the expansion of the market, of course they're not gonna try to reform his girly ways. If men today are less manly than they use to be, it's because their parents raised them to be like this. That's the real culprit here, the generation of so-called baby boomers. Those post-war lower class men and women who worked hard to become the nouveau riche middle class which today comprises most of the British population, who decided that they would never let their kids endure the same sorts of hardships which they had to. As a result, these people took it upon themselves to do everything for their kids, were obsessed with health and safety, obsessed with personal appearance [natural since they were insecure about their recently acquired social status], and personally escorted their kids everywhere because they suddenly decided there was a paedophile behind every tree. Sangat Ji this basically the mathematical equation for producing total pu55ies. When most British kids were raised in this manner how could they be anything but spoiled, narcissistic and cowardly? This sort of mentality was further nourished by Margaret Thatcher and her poisonous ideology of individualism, which persists to this day, and which most British kids are suckled on. Solidarity with other English people or the threat of their identity being destroyed mean nothing to them anymore, because it's not happening within their own four walls.
  7. That's actually a thing? I thought that sort of stuff only happened in comedy routines. She doesn't sound gay though, just very confused. Unlike homosexuality this modern idea of gender-fluidity is an example of the intrusion of a culture, in this case Liberal ultra-PC culture, into sexuality. Very few people saw gender as distinct from sex before the 20th century, because they knew that it wasn't. A man can certainly believe that he is a woman, but believing something doesn't make it so, it doesn't change the fact that he has and always will have XY chromosomes. It is also a harmful idea - the last thing confused and insecure adolescents unhappy with their identities and obsessed with picking out 'labels' to apply to themselves need, is more confusion and more labels.
  8. This is the first I'm hearing of mass Islamic immigration to the United states. If it's true then I say GOOD. About time these American hypocrites shouldered the burden of Islamic immigration caused by their messy illegal wars. If the world was a just place they would be forced to take some of our Ahmeds too. There are countries in Western Europe with Muslim populations of almost 10%, significant numbers with significant political clout, in large part due to American meddling in the Near East. And these Yanks are crying and p1ssing their pants about Muslims in America who make up just 1% of their population and command virtually no political influence? Very little sympathy for them, they have this coming.
  9. They should tell them the truth and categorically refuse to be married off in this way. The only alternative is to ruin their own life and the life of whichever unfortunate Singh or Singhni they entrap in this web of lies. If their parents reject them over this thing which is totally out of their hands, it is the parent's fault, and not the son's or daughter's. I'd encourage these Sikhs to pursue their own happiness and obtain a civil partnership if have any aspirations in that direction.
  10. Then how do you account for all the gay people in resolutely homophobic cultures and societies, like the Islamic ones? Islamic culture certainly doesn't encourage or incentivise homosexuality. Singh if being gay was the product of belonging to a certain culture, then all members [or a considerable number] of this culture would be gay - just like all Chinese people eat with chopsticks, because this is one of their cultural traits. As there is no civilisation which is predominantly or homogenously gay, I don't see how culture be responsible for making people into homosexuals.
  11. Yes. Basically you're entitled to a siropa if you somehow succeed in maintaining a body temperature of roughly 36°C. I've also heard it said that very very rarely, they actually give someone a siropa for performing seva for the panth - seva such as kirtan, katha, parchaar, or not being hit by a van for 16 years like the boy in the story. However, I cannot be sure that this isn't in fact a myth. You should see a folklorist.
  12. This has a lot to do with certain self-hating or sycophantic brown Sikhs constantly slathering them with praise about how they are the truest Sikhs [as opposed to Punjabis] and how the future of Sikhi lies with them in the West. Add to the mix all the liberal Sikhs hell-bent on making Sikhi more accommodating/progressive, as well as the perverted Singhs who are OBSESSED by white Singhnis [not the women's fault naturally] and you have a very considerable fan club. It's no wonder 3HO think they're the bee's knees. Very disappointed by Jagraj Singh's equivocation in this video. With his growing influence he is increasingly beginning to resemble a politician, and like a politician, is tiptoeing around issues to remain in people's good graces.
  13. " That is exactly what happened.. As for how he managed to go unaware of all the blood and screaming, the most logical conclusion is that he accidentally had his wipers on, and was listening to the latest Bob Dylan album, Shadows in the Night, at full volume." - Western Liberal Islamic Apologist
  14. This is all very important seva of the Sikh Qaum. But it goes back to my point veerji - since plenty of other Sikh groups and jathas are doing this exact same stuff, why single out the Nihang Singhs as deserving of some special position? I'd also ask why you believe Panth khalsa does not love or listen to its Nihang Singhs? Theirs is easily one of the most popular and influential jathas in the Sikh world - look at all the naujaawan who idolize and emulate them. Personally speaking I also have a lot of pyaar for the Nihang Singhs because of their dedication in safeguarding our itihaasic practices from scheming reformists.
  15. What exactly were they expecting? That the moment we left the EU, all the brown people would start slowly dematerializing like the ghost army from Lord of the Rings?
  16. So do many AKJs, Nanaksars and Taksalis. And more importantly so do many Sikhs who have no need whatsoever to affiliate themselves with any jatha or samparda. The Nihang Singhs are not special in this regard Singh Ji. The puraatan Khalsa held the Akali Nihangs in such high regard because they were the acknowledged protectors of the Sikh faith. This is no longer true. If Sikhs today do not feel the same way as their ancestors did, it is because the Nihang Singhs are not really relevant to their lives anymore. They aren't capable of protecting us and unfortunately, many seem unwilling to protect us [as with the majority of the Budha Dal of Baba Santa Singh in the 80's]. Their main duty these days seems to be the preservation of puraatan traditions, a role for which they should be respected, but not one which entitles them to our deference or obedience.
  17. They're not mutually exclusive Kaur Ji, we can have both. I wish it could just be 'quality over quantity' and that everyone else would be content to leave us alone. But our qaum is in danger from much larger faith groups with menacing designs on our faith and we need numbers if we're gonna withstand them. Once in the early 1700s Sikhi was all about quality as opposed to quantity. As a result it was very nearly wiped out by it's much larger enemies. It was only when quantity began to matter, and you had people joining the Sikh faith for all sorts of flimsy reasons [land-grabbing, plunder, independence and personal freedom] that the Sikh panth became strong again. This is the reason you and I are here today as Sikhs, talking about 'quality vs quantity', because quantity took precedence.
  18. The Indian sense of humour really is stuck in some kind of 1940's time warp. That sort of vulgar slapstick would never be received this way at a Christian wedding.
  19. Banda Singh Bahadur had no kingdom as he wasn't a king. The anti-Sikh notion of a monarchy wouldn't infect/spoil the Sikhs until much later. Baba Ji minted his own coins but the proto-state he created was not really a proper nation, something which is coherent and functioning. It's life was too short for it to establish its authority in any real way , and it lacked an actual government to preside over laws, justice or politics, mainly because Banda Singh Bahadur was constantly on the move, never remaining long enough in one place to establish a new order. Once he liberated a settlement he would proclaim a governor then quickly move on to take the battle elsewhere. Let's be realistic, this is not what a nation looks like, this was a rebellion and Baba Ji was a rebel leader, not a king or ruler. When we acknowledge this it becomes much easier to answer your question and comprehend how he was forced to live in the jungles - this is something you might expect of rebels. The dominion of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was a tract of land which existed outside the authority of the Mughal Empire, and in a protracted state of guerilla conflict. It laid the foundation for the later Sikh kingdoms, but it can't be called one itself.
  20. Agreed, so much land taken or ruined up by a crop Punjabis hardly even eat themselves.
