  1. Many thanks for your answer. I have done research already and found the differences as people see them from the outside, I should have clarified I wanted to ask how Sikhs THEMSELVES see the difference, from inside the community. So I apologise for my miscommunication.
  2. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Wheguru Ji Ki Fateh Sangat, I have a request for your help. For school I do an assignment on Sikhism and its influence on modern India. There us obviously a difference between Sikhs and other indians; the religion, customs and culture. But India is a very diverse country so I wonder what do Sikhs themselves think sets them apart and what is it that establish Sikhism as unique among a country filled with unique cultures, religions and customs? The difference between Sikhs and Hindus is clear, the difference between punjab and gujarati, maharashtra, Tamil etc. is clear. But what makes Sikhs truly unique among them? Many thanks for all your knowledge and help!
  3. I've failed due to a combination of stress, concentration issues, video games and physical tirement.
  4. Wjjk wjkf, I'm still in high-school, due to circumstances I've failed this year and I'll have to redo it. I've known I was going to fail since about two weeks ago when I discussed it with my teachers. That was just before a big exam period, that couldn't save my grade no matter what, my parents however thought it could. Yesterday everyone from my class got called got called to hear whether they passed or failed the year, but since I allready knew, there came no call for me. When my parents inquired I said I received an email instead of a call. Now they want to see that mail. I've lied to them, and that is very wrong and I will never do it again, I feel like <banned word filter activated> for doing it. I'm going to come clean now and try to fix the situation I created with my lies. The part where the problem comes is the fact that the closest Gurdwara is 2 hours away(by car, but since I can't drive it will take me more time to reach by bike), I can't go to Gurdwara for Pesh. What do I do now?
  5. I've read that the guy who did this atrocious act was not a muslim. He ate bacon, drank alcohol, never went to mosque and didn't observe ramadan. I've read that he didn't do it for extremist reasons, he just wanted to commit suicide but he wanted to be remembered so he decided to do something big and unique.
  6. Sikhi should be a choice, not something forced upon you If they want to become Sikhs, they can do it on their own, if they do not want to become Sikhs and stay with their cureent faith, let them be.
  7. Sikhis is a journey. It is a long path, it is not the easiest path one can walk. Sometimes, somewhere down the path, you get tired and give in to sin, that happens to everyone, whichever path they walk(be it Sikhi, Chritianity, Islam, etc.). There is only one thing you can do, and that is ask Waheguru for forgiveness en pray that He may give you the strengt to refrain from sin the next time. You can't expect from yourself to win every battle from kaam at this stage in your journey. At the beginning of the journey kaam will win every battle, but the further you get down the path, the more battles you will win from kaam, but only at the end of the path will you be able to win every battle. So when kaam knocks you down, you just need to get back up on your feet, pray for forgiveness and carry on down the path. You managed to stay clear from kaam for 1 month, next time you try that might be 2 months, then 3 months, and one day you will be able to keep it up for the rest of your life. Believe in yourself, and believe that Waheguru will forgive your demerits if you do good deeds. Other than the Gurus, have there ever been people completely free from sin? Have a little faith in yourself, you will get there one day.
  8. Our sins come when we do not think of God, or when we turn away from God. Our good accomplishments are given by God when we do think of Him and when we are with him.
  9. Nobody died, public is only interested in it if someone dies, sadly.
  10. VJKK VJKF I have an question about dead animals. In my biology class, next friday, we will study the anatomy of a squid, which we will do by cutting a dead one open. These squids have been caught accidently while fishing by profesional fishers who give every unneeded animal caught in their nets to schools for study. In short: is it okay to study animals by cutting a dead one open?(when the animal was not killed to study it) Many thanks
  11. It is never correct to kill. Isn't there a way to make it harder for rats to enter your house?
  12. Thank you for your answers. I've checked out the sites you suggested, and found them to be really helpful. As for translating the Guru Granth Sahib Ji into Dutch, I am going to wait a couple of years until I am fluent in Punjabi so that I will be able to translate directly from Punjabi into Dutch. Many thanks or helping me out!
