most ancient saints before Guru Nanak Dev ji covered their heads and had uncut hair. the maryada we've been given as Sikhs is just one way of many to become one with God. people nowadays are obsessed with outward things and dont realise that prem, paath and simran are the most important things - the physical aspects follow naturally, and are only mandatory if you want to become amrit dhari. Sikhs dont have a dominion over God - what makes you think that he was in a different saroop to the modern Khalsa that he wouldnt become on with God. outward appearance will always be secondary to whats inside of you. Sikhi was revealed by Guru Nanak Dev Ji - it has always been here - Bhagat Ravidas Ji's Bani is in Guru Granth Sahib and as such he is one of our Gurus.
