  1. vjkk vjkf gurvinderpal singh! where have you beennnn! lol... keertan at my place on sunday ... bettersee you there :)

  2. well i know i may be alil bit late, replying to this topic, but if it helps eh, i'll be honest i only read the first 2 pages on the reply.and i didn' read the stuff in between... ok so i'll just picked up where heera veer ji left off.. so honestly i'd ahve to say , if you are curious, go, but be prepared, for alot of panga and also alot of pple giving ya stare and such.... and also be prepared to throw out all your smoked fill clothing,a nd also be prepared to do full 30 MIN kesh ishnaan hmmm.. b/c honestly the only way you are going to find out whether or not it for you, is if you go.. i'll tell you afunny story, going to a club , is when i got a major ephinany, back 5 years ago i was a freshman at uni, mona and kinda thinkin of sikhi i dind't shave the whole summer and kinda had like a decent dhaari coming in.... but then like at uni i didn't have any friends or sangat at all. then the school's SASA or Indian Student Associ. threw there "india" club night so i thought hey i'm brown lemme check it. then before going i decided to shave and get baby smooth skin. so then i went to the club, in hope of getting my kaam on , and dance with someone... so anyways at the end of hte night, what did i get out of it, nothing, no dancing, and not even a numba... twas sad. so anyways i got back to my dorm room then i took of my smoked filled clothes, went to bed woke up did jap ji...then after paath i looked in the mirror and i was liek dang i shaved.. what for? i didn't even get a girls number or i wasnt' even able to dance with anyone.. simply pathetic.. then i got that ephinany from GUru Ji,and guru ji pretty much said, "cut the BS and start keeping your kesh...." started keeping my kesh but.. and well next tiem i went to the club and i started realizign that i didn't belong there. it was really odd and weird place for me, i just didn't fit in.... it wasn't me so my thing for you sitargirl ji, is just go there and if you don't like it then don't go....
  3. wjkkwjkf i was wondering if anyone knew exactly where i could pick up a loh or sarbh loh mala thanks
  4. i was wondering if someone could explain to me the history behind the Hazooriya, i know its used in seva, and too keep one's hands sacha... but would someone be able to tell me hte whole history thanks.
  5. well anti-gurmat hehe that can come from alot of other things.... pretty much the sangat ya know... i'm pretty sure plates don't matter, but rather it has to do with the fact if the sangaats' priority is of guru ji or of their mitars
  6. this past sunday June 04, 2006, marked the 22nd anniversary of the of the Martyrdom of the <a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Blue_Star>Akal Takhat… </a> and well when I arrived to sangaat at gurdwara, I was late…. Then after hukamnaama and bhog, the secretary does announcements.. strangely there was no announcement of Operation Bluestar, I didn’t make any mention of it to the secretary b/c I thought for sure it probably happened earlier in sangaat…. WRONG Instead I open my e-mail 8am Monday morning and I get this <em><h5>Dear Fellow Sikhs, Twenty years ago yesterday, Sri Durbar Sahib complex was attacked by the Indian Armed Forces and this lead to the destruction of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib. No one mentioned a word about this in the Gurdwara Sahib yesterday and I am equally guilty of this. <b>Just a reminder so that we may never forget this.</b> It is probably alright to forgive but our future generations must be told of what happened.</h5></em> I couldn’t believe it not a single person in sangaat remembered… its so odd b/c usually every other Sunday someone on the board rants about the politics in sikhi… they usually make announcements after Hukamnaama , but before <a href=http://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php?title=Kara_Parshad>Degh</a>.. and that rant usually last for 20 mins… the one I distinctly remember the most is well on the day of Vaisakhi, the secretary gave his speech about “Brahmanism and the khalsa”, he sounded really confused by it, and the bhai sahib did a very sweet katha, on the importance of taking amrit, sadly it was in Punjabi… but the secretary made some highlights in English, but they were mainly forgotten inlieu of the his rants about the “laws of manu”. Seriously one calls themselves the Sikh of the Guru, but how can you forget about the Martyrdom of the Akal Takhat, The Royal Throne of Waheguru? I’m reminded by a quote Siri Sahib Ji said about the 1976 Nirankari Incident… <center><h5><em>"It is a most unfortunate day in the history of the Khalsa. We have our Ministry; we have our Government; we have our Sikh majority. And people have been killed in a most merciless manner. Now things will be covered up. Truth will be totally covered. And this is a very unusual situation which we have to stand. That is why we have sent three representatives to India from here. But there is nothing to investigate. It is a simple fact to find out, and every heart knows what they are doing to us in America, what they are doing to us in Canada, what they tried to do to us in England; and wherever they are, these patits are going to attack us. They may look like Sikhs of the Guru, but their heart is not for the Guru. You can call them anything; they are chips of the same block. Their dedication is not towards the Guru, their dedication is to their personal glorification and personal earthly power." </h5></em> - <b>Siri Singh Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogiji</b></center> Why can’t we ever get real leaders in Sikhi… I’m also reminded about the words of Bhai Santbir Singh Ji and Siri Sahib… those that can reflect the Shabd Guru, just as the moon reflects the light of the Sun, they are the true leaders of sikhi…. But how come now a days we only have people in power who only reflect their own EGO…. They only want to lead the gurdwara so that they can have something here when they die… don’t these “real” leaders realize that they are hurting us the youth… because we the youth are fed up…. For an Example of what Siri Sahib is saying feel free to check this out... the attachment
  7. so quick question i was wondering like say if there are to GurSIkhs, who plan to get engaged and you konw do ardaas and such.. but the question is that is the Singh supposed to buy the Kaur an engagement band? Are wedding bands and engament band allowed in sikhi, i've heard some say NO others say yea... and if yea are they rings supposed to have ALOT OF BLING? just wondering... thanks
  8. ok so like you wanna know why we sikhs can't keep locks.. in the Dasam Granth, Guru Gobind Singh JI's maharajs' own writings, Guru Ji writes that his own Sikhs Shall Not keep locks, they shall keep their hair clean. Ok so i'm takin a class on Hinduism at my Uni. and the prof states "The only reason why Rastafarians grow dreads is not b/c of religion but because of the Hindu Sadhus that came to carribean, through the slave route...." and do you want the Kundalini reasoning/logical reasoning... so the reason why we comb hair is b/c the hair is the extentsion of our nerve endings that run along our head and scalp... by keeping our hair combed and neat and clean and tied up in a juura allows for opt. transfering of.......... oks o like this is getting really complicated... also best reason is that if when Guru Ji was in Human Form (Guru Nanak Dev Ji - Guru Gobind Singh Ji) if they thought that it'd be better for their sikhs to have locks they would have kept it... if keeping dreads improved your sikhi they would have kept it heh... and the reason why we use a Wooden Kangaa to comb our kesh is b/c as stated earlier our kesh is an extention of our nerves thus by rubbing a piece of wood across our scalps, de-static-fies the accumulation of static electricity. also running a wooden comb across your scalp, reduces your need for sleep, it really awakens you =) try it...
  9. honestly yea i think he's making excuses... i told him "You know what if you die tomorrow, then when you get to the gates of Sach Khand, what will you tell the chhota Sahibzadia? Oh i had really bad dandruff?" THen he said " Yea but their father was Guru Gobind Singh Ji." Then i just rolled my eyes and left.... yea i think its just excuses, may be this will be awake up fall for him, but yeah i mean i really don't think theres a need to make up a tally on how SIkhi is alot better than Hinduism...b/c its not about who's better its about Following to your Sat Guru, not having doubt in guru ji, if he has doubts, then only way to get rid of them is through Gurbani, and especially through Jap Ji sahib di paath. but other than that i have no clue.... ' thank you again Veer JI and BHen Ji on the thoughts.. and replies
  10. ok so where do i begin... about two weeks ago in Sangaat, The Gyani JI's wife told me about, one of my friends who decided to cut his kesh, and she told me to talk to him about it, and try to prevent him... Now well i just got back from talkin' to him, and i really don't know what i can do to convince him to keep his kesh. it seems as if his parent's didn't really instill alot of sikhi in to him,and i tried explaining to him why its important to keep our kesh... his logic is rahter odd, but i guess he uses that logic to justify his need to cut and shave off his kesh. one reason he told me was that "No other religion requires their followers to keep long hair and pray" then second logic to him was that " He views sikhism and hinduism as the same thing, in which the goal is to become a better human being...." Then when i asked him about islam being the same "Hes liek umm nah.." this poor singh, well he was raised in India, thus i guess he was brain washed... i dunno its really odd i'd say alot of "sikhs" or former sikhs or family members of mine, from india, have this really odd view of sikhi... its like Sikhi but really watered down with Hinduism... so my question is how can i convince my friend to keep his kesh.. he tells me that he is "Spiritual but not religious...." what ever the heck that means.... but he doesn't do naam simran.. so i guess he woulnd't be able to reep the full benefit of Kesh... But now i'm at the point thinking , if he doesn't wanna keep it, not need to tell him... sikhi is about quality not quanity... any thoughts?
  11. i dunno vwt hmwrI KrI aufIxI ] vaatt humaaree khuree ouddeenee The path upon which I must walk is very depressing. KMinAhu iqKI bhuqu ipeIxI ] khunniahu thikhee buhuth pieenee It is sharper than a two-edged sword, and very narrow. ausu aUpir hY mwrgu myrw ] ous oopar hai maarug maeraa That is where my path lies. syK PrIdw pMQu sm@wir svyrw ]4]1] saekh fureedhaa punth sumuaar suvaeraa O Shaykh Fareed, think of that path early on. ||4||1|| Thisis hwat i feel rite now.. wiht Sikhi in the sense like at my school i really wanna bring sikhi back to my school liek shar with the other sikh students the coolenss of doin' paath and such and doing keertan experiencin' Raas. but they dont care... its like i look at the sikhs around me, and they dont care.... and they have wrong info abou t sikhi and they dont' care that they have the wrong information.. they still wanna live in ignorance.. thats the sadest part.. they say oh they are too busy, but they have time for bhangra club/ Indian clubs but nonfor sikhi... i guess this would be my "rant"..... post I really i wish i was in a samagam sangaat.... thats antoher thing i'm having such a hard tiem wakin up at amrit vela and id otn know what to do.. i set my alarm and yet i still wkae up 3 hours later... its soo frustrating i don tknwo what to doo ahh ahhhh sorry guys and gals
  12. whoaa i never knew heera.... whooaa but yeah Sangaat is a very powerful thing... it weird when i'm away from sangaat i find it harder to do "Sikhi" things or to be more punctual with Guru JI... Sangaat can either Make or break a person from SIkhi.... Sangaat is so powerful that if Gurmukh is around manmukhs.. that Gurmukh will fall in and turn in to a manmukh.. and vice-a-versea yeah i guess i never truely realized how powerful sangaat really is! then i still got a long way to go... oh nO i'm rambling
