  1. 1. Which Rehat maryada are you looking at? 2. Don't see the "inequality" in a singh walking ahead of his wife-to-be during anand karaj, if they have been doing that ever since Guru ram das ji maharaj completed Laavan. So yes, can hardly see the inequality!
  2. WJKK WJKF, thought it would be beautiful if we all could ANONYMOUSLY share the banis we have added to nitnem or how much abhyaas we have, to inspire and be inspired! Feel free to keep identity gupt
  3. WJKK WJKF, Now before this discussion begins, spare us all with "you aren't perfect so stop talking", "they might be better off on the inside" wale bachans, because yes, they might be better than us on the inside and we are not perfect. But as a panth, we should have the right to make sure that people are not misunderstanding sikhi and defining it their way, instead of that defined by Guru ji. there are quite a few women, who tie dastars and are amritdhari, beautiful but then some of them constantly reject the maryada. Now, I have been taught that a true Sikh never neglects the maryada and a true Sikh aims to follow the most of it. These women wear make up, shorts and low-neck shirts, dancing and singing songs, swearing. While feminism has a great role to play in the whole "make up and clothing" choices, they often blame some Singhs for exposing their body, which I am against, simply because both parties are luring the other into "lust" (read it from a post, makes sense) i read a few posts from kaurlife and they wish to achieve women equality by wearing fewer clothes because singhs do it, participate in the panj pyare and walking beside their husband during anand karaj. Ignoring that as a panth we are all in it together, we shall help each other instead of trying our best to let the other spiritually down. It is hard to have them listen to us, so... Opinions ?
  4. 1. Because Amritdhari Singhs are going for non-amritdhari Women, ignoring and rejecting those with facial hair/unibrows. - so the whole idea of body hair kicks in. 2. Somehow we do not have enough of Women parchariks to get to the girls. 3. Parents lack education and fail to let their children walk on the path of sikh at an early age, choosing to equip them with worldly criteria of beauty and success. 4. Women who do tie dastars have put up an image that they are the same as all other women, except with certain eating and drinking restrictions. So women don't see the point of having to get amrit.
  5. There are a few writers/poets/poetess on the internet, including harman kaur, fiverriverflow, jusmun. (Instagram mainly)
  6. With all due respect to the veers above, was just wondering what do you do if you are a woman, who has taken amrit already. Brahamgyanis of taksal and dals (giani sher singh ji) do not seem to be upset when they see a woman with dastar and shastars (not trying to sound like a feminist) and they preach "amrit shako" to men and women alike.
  7. WJKK WJKF, The number of "Professors"/"Teachers" is increasing, the gurdwaras, especially in Asia, are filled with such parchariks/granthis. They often claim to follow the maryada of Sri Akal Thakat Sahib, which was never approved by the panth and till date, approval is pending. The problem is, they hold "gurmat" classes, do "katha" and constantly touch on controversial topics. Their views, when compared to puratan sampardhas like Damdami Taksal, Budha Dal, Bidhi Chand Dal, are quite different. They do not believe in Simran, Amrit vela, puratan maryada of JOT, Jaal, they twist bani to meet their propaganda and ignore the existence of Sant Mahapurkhs. They also do preach reading and understanding bani ON ONE'S OWN and they have no practical experience of bani and bana. They do not do katha on gurbani, except the very literal meanings and somehow I believe it is stupidity to not be able to explain bani to others and continuous "benti" to sangat to read on their own, when in-depth katha is done by mahapurkhs/gianis from dals and taksal. They shame Taksal and Dals fore being influenced by the politics when indeed majority of the students are taught the puratan maryada, santhya and history. They do have great following, and the question is why? Is it because 21st century "Sikhs" they are too smart? Or are they looking for things that meet the worldly logic only? others?
