  1. I think this is due to film equipment being available for much cheaper these days. You're right. To say that they are not all religious movies is besides the point. The point is people are listening to Punjabi instead of Hindi, etc. Later on, they can get religious, but they have to know the language first.
  2. General rule that most Singhs will tell you: 1) If just a gutka sahib, you have to have showered that day. 2) If sitting in tabia of Guru ji, and you did #2, you need to have showered again. Also, I think you're fooling yourself if with your line that if you're like a child you don't need to shower. I think you might want to flatter yourself that you're like a child, but face it, none of us is. All of us are filled to the brim with envy, hatred, anger, etc. and then we fool ourselves that were are just naive children.
  3. OK, sure. Sure. But a painting painted by a mere man is not "true" (satya). It's a mere representation of something in his mind. And have you ever found it interesting that a painter of a certain school will paint all his paintings in a certain way? That's because that's all he knows how to paint. And as far as certain accouterments or embellishments (such as earrings), that's just what a certain painter supposes that men of a certain era must have worn (not that he would have any personal knowledge--it's a mere supposition).
  4. Think of it this way: They have a mission and the mission is to tell young Sikhs about their faith. Does that make sense?
  5. Well, you know what? The field of spirituality is not like, say chemistry. In chemistry, if your chemical equations work, it doesn't matter that you're an arrogant p#@#. Not so in spirituality. The entire point is to gain humility. If you don't have it, there's not point in listening to you.
  6. No kidding. The top Google search results for "smart casual women" is: https://www.thetrendspotter.net/smart-casual-dress-code-for-women/ Look through that page and try to tell me that men wear everything that women wear.
  7. I admit that some men are wearing somewhat tighter pants than before, but it's still not the skin tight jeans that (many) women wear. Also, in a page that comes up on search, where is there a picture of men wearing sleeveless shirts or crop tops? https://www.primermagazine.com/2018/learn/what-is-smart-casual
  8. But we can't hide our historical granths These granths are not Gurbani, bro. You realize that, don't you? They're just written by humans. What do you think, they descended from heaven?
  9. This, bro. The funny thing is if you tell non-Punjabis about making your souls pure via self-control and spirituality, they become extremely interested. Apne? They'll think you're sheltered and know nothing of the world.
  10. What? Even in Western culture, men do not "show off" their bodies (other than maybe bodybuilder competitions). There's simply nothing showing in what men wear to work. It is "just females". And at Sikh weddings and such, if women are wearing tight clothes and crop tops, are men also? No. You know that full well. They wear dress shirts and pants or suits. What's showing? What are you on about?
  11. So your plan for the Sikh panth is have it imitate mainstream UK society where around half of marriages end in divorce, and they are not even replacing their own population?
  12. Excellent analysis, bro. Right on the dot. Basically, Punjabis have an inferiority complex. They believe that they are lower than the typical Westerner, therefore they denigrate all things Sikh, including the Sikh roop. Nowadays, it's become typical for Sikh females to have to distinction from the form of Western females. As such, they think they are high-value in the eyes of Western men. Therefore they devalue Sikh men. Totally true that they are thrown for a loop when they see a non-Punjabi woman even so much as talking with a Sikh man (not that I'm encouraging dating).
  13. Basically, it should be clear that dating is not allowed in Sikhism. Once you accept that, then it's fine to "socialize" (i.e., talk with people).
  14. What are you even talking about? Men might wear V-necks at the gym or such, but certainly not to the office. You seriously want to claim men wear V-necks to the office? Men wear tight trousers to show of their whatevers? When have you ever seen that? On the other hand, it's extremely common to wear deep neck blouses, half-sleeve, sleeveless, tube top, crop top, mini-skirts, etc. When have you ever seen a mean wearing a sleeveless shirt or a crop top to work?
  15. Are you saying that Sikhs are allowed to eat meat other than jhatka? There's no general permission for meat, only in the context of dharam yudh or preparation for that. I do agree with you that there's no reason for Sikhs to throw up upon seeing blood. But, also, if you don't have a reason (dharam yudh) to kill an animal, you should not.

    Mushrooms

Yeah, no kidding. The problem is not that the "friend' suddenly gave him "magic mushrooms". The problem is that he hangs out with people who think it's a good idea to interfere with your mental functioning with chemicals.
  17. A round of applause for this gentleman. You say it like you're proud of it. Yeah, and if you sell pens, maybe a butcher shop will buy a pen, and it's basically like butchering the animal yourself. So, if that's your logic, then you might as well just start eating meat. Since you think that anything on a chain that might be sold to a meat eater is morally the same as eating meat yourself. So, it's "already killed" so it's no problem? Well, what's wrong with eating it, too, then? Spoken like a manmukh, not an Amritdhari. Are you sure you love Guru Sahib, or just money?
  18. I don't know if you're trying to say meat loads are OK or not OK. It seems to me you're justifying meat loads because you're afraid someone will denigrate jhatka. No one is talking about jhatka. The meat loads in normal trucks are most certainly not jhatka. In some cases they are halal, but always non-jhatka. There's no reason to defend such meat loads.
  19. It's OK to listen to Nitnem because otherwise if you were doing Nitnem in the Gurdwara and the Giani is reading off Nitnem, the rest of the Sangat is listening to the paath. No one would say the Sangat is failing in its duty to do Nitnem. Of course, you should pay attention to the paath. Also, you should read paath so you learn it before you start to just listen to it.
  20. Don't be obtuse, man. The words of the programming language are maybe a dozen, two dozen, something like that. You can learn those by rote. What they are doing is not changing the words of the programming language, although there's no reason you couldn't do that. Microsoft did for its Office programming language. What they are talking about is this: You don't think that French people, when they are discussing programming, speak in French? Even though the words used in their programs are the original English terms. E.g., a language I just googled (Go): From Wiki: func (addr ipv4addr) ZeroBroadcast() bool { return addr == 0xFFFFFFFF That would remain the same, but you'd talk about it in Punjabi. Get it?

    Washing hair

I don't know what you're saying by "break off". Do you mean fall off, as in disattach from the root? Comb you hair before you wash it. Most of the hair that would fall off will fall off before you wash it. Put the fallen off hair in a container and burn the hair later in a respectful manner (like fireplace, maybe). Then wash your hair.
  22. What are you trying to say? That we Sikhs can eat food labeled "Halal" just because we're guessing that they probably didn't have time to prary the Muslim prayer on the meat?
  23. To the OP, don't listen this "Gursikh". Who are you to say straight up won't hurt his rehat? Let me ask you a question: would carrying a heroin load "not affect his rehat"? If so, why? Also, please tell us whether selling heroin to people would "hurt his rehat" or not.
  24. Yours seems to be the only balanced answer here. It's one thing to say carrying a meat load is mazboori, as you have. It's quite another, like some other posters said, that there's no problem whatsoever carrying a meat load.
