  1. Fateh Ji Just spoke to the hotel - a lady answered who was completely unaware of the wedding issue as I explained to her. Got passed down to another lady who said its up to the couple and they can't do anything about it. Just sent emails via the links suggested. Hopefully sangat ji if we try to get in more emails and more callers we might be able to save of Guru. Rab Rakha Baljivan Singh
  2. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Its really strange how the five vikaars (thieves) shows themselves in different forms. Like Maskeen Singh Ji said the other day on Alpha you think you've conquered one and the others set in and so forth. Something I find really difficult is controlling ego. A few days ago whilst listening to katha (gurbani discourse) at the gurdwara the kathakaar was talking about the loving relationship between a gursikh and his Guru. He gave a few examples and went on to say about the virtues of a gursikh, how he serves with total devotion through sewa and simran, forever remains humble and stays in hukam. And he ended it by saying there are only rare gursikhs as such who adpot and practise this way of living. During the whole time my ego was getting a big boost when I know I'm nowhere near to such a way of life. The ego inside me kept saying yep thats me, sewa - another tick and so forth. I went out the darbaar feeling my ego had been just fed big time. Even sometimes when entering the darbaar I can hear myself saying - look everyone its me! I'm here now! (this is happening way too often) Anyone else get the same and how do you control it? I hope this has made some sense and forgive me for any mistakes
  3. Fateh Ji Update Bhai Sahib doing kirtan at Havelock Road Southall gurdwara from 17:30 - 18:30 till saturday 20th may 06
  4. WJKK WJKF Sangat Ji Just to let you know that Bhai Sahib Bhai Taarbalbir Singh Ji's Raagi Jatha (Hazoori Raagi Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar) are here in the UK. They are doing Asa Di Vaar kirtan at Park Avenue Gurdwara, Southall from 5-6:30am this week and kirtan from 1:15 - 2:00pm at Havelock Raod Gurdwara, Southall.
  5. Guru Fateh Ji Spoke to a lady called Kerry who said the client is in talks with the Granth Ji at the local Gurdwara to have the ceremony taken place there. She said she was aware of SGGS JI Maharaj not being allowed to be taken into places where meat, alochol or other intoxicants are to be served. Told her that even a parting by means of drawing a curtain is not an alternative. The guys's who's wedding it is has got his phone switched off. They're trying to contact him. Guru bhalla kare
  6. Fateh Ji Just spoke to Katherine who confirmed to me the wedding ceremony at the hotel is off however the reception will still take place there. The ceremony has been moved to Chigwell. She said she was aware of the issue regarding dis-respect to Guru Granth Sahib Ji and is replying back to all emails to let all concerned know.
  7. most likely you're right. How to believe them I don't know. the more emails and phones that keeping going in will maybe give us a better answer. Rab Rakha
  8. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Just called up the hotel and spoke to a guy who said the wedding has now been cancelled.
  9. Fateh Sangat Ji I wanted to know whether you can help further my understanding of the folllowing tukk (line) that appears during the full Anand Sahib. AYsw siqguru jy imlY iqs no isru saupIAY ivchu Awpu jwie ] If you meet such a True Guru, offer your head to Him; your selfishness and conceit will be eradicated from within. According to the understanding that Guru Ji has given me I think its trying to say that we must offer our head in the form of giving up our own mat and taking up gurmat. This could be in the form of: 1. Taking Amrit 2. Living According to the Hukam But is there anything more in terms of offering our head? What else is Guru Ji trying to tell us to do here? Hope you can help me out. Bhul chuk maaf
  10. Anyone know which guru stated the concept of first bhangat and then sangat? thnx very much
  11. Fateh ji 14th April Vaisakhi day at Park Avenue Gurdwara, Southall (upstairs hall) round about 10am onwards (need to confirm that) kakkars available at time as well May guru ji bless you with the gift and make welcome you to the khalsa family :TH:
  12. Such hillarious suggestions  (especially the one about from mum's pakore!) I used to use hot water to soften it first, tie it up and then where a thaathi (small cloth around the face) to press it against the face. I soon learned not too after having breathing problems coz of it wearing it too long and it would still fall! And would takes ages. Not anymore! The best is to let it freely flow in the air (like chardikala singhs with amazing long beards - waheguru)
  13. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Its so saddening that there is so much inequality in terms of gender that still shines through in the Sikh Panth today - honestly. Why the marginalisation of women so much? Our history is filled with so many great sikh women figures who fought even braver than their Singh counterparts. Sikhi is a religion of equality as clearly stamped by Guru Nanak Dev Ji. How can we even begin to call ourselves Sikh when we haven't even understood the most basic rule. How can we even do sewa when we exclude our sisters? As Guru Ji says in Asa di Vaar: Awpu gvwie syvw kry qw ikCu pwey mwnu ] aap guvaae saevaa kurae thaa kish paaeae maan But if he eliminates his self-conceit and then performs service, he shall be honored. so ikau mMdw AwKIAY ijqu jMmih rwjwn ] so kio mundhaa aakheeai jith junmehi raajaan So why call her bad? From her, kings are born. Women not being allowed to do kirtan in darbar sahib, serving as the panj pyare during Amirt Sanchaar, carrying of Guru Granth Sahib Ji to name just a few. May Guru Ji do kirpa and remove this veil from us for the chardikala of the Khalsa Panth Bhul chuk maaf for any mistakes
  14. fateh jee thanks all for nice comments and stay in chardikala :
  15. WJKK WJKF Penjhi This sounds a lot like me! I have gone thru similar spirals and still do over so many things. I don't know whether how easy it is for you to get saadh sangat at the gurdwara but do try to get this if you can. You'll feel happy sitting near your Guru. :TH: I was listening to gurbani vichaar once and the person delivering the discourse said the most common thing we all do is feed ourselves negative thoughts all the time which are the cause of our feeling down in life. Just think about everything that guru ji has blessed you with and perhaps about those who may not have what you do. I know it is easier said that done but we all need to try. Do ardaas infront of guru sahib and ask for advice and guidance so that guru ji may put you on the right track again. Guru ji is always prepared to listen to our happiness and pains and is your best friend. Try to take part in sewa, simran and sangat or listen to or recite a bani. I hope these shabads help: iqn hI suixAw duKu suKu myrw qau ibiD nIkI KtwnI ]1] thin hee suniaa dhukh sukh maeraa tho bidh neekee khuttaanee He listens to my pains and pleasures, and then my condition improves. ||1|| rUpu AnrUpu moro kCu n bIcwirE pRym gihE moih hir rMg BIn ]1] roop anuroop moro kush n beechaariou praem gehiou mohi har rung bheen The Lord has not considered my beauty or ugliness; instead, He has held me with love. 16. Sorry forgot to add: After being inspired by so many of you gursikhs, I've started my very own blog which I hope will be inspiring to others. www.baljivansinghkhalsa.blogspot.com I don't know if the link works
  17. Just wanted to share a short poem that daas wrote last year. It was well before Guru ji blessed me with Amrit. At the time of writing I suppose I was kinda lost, not into Sikhi at all and what I saw around me just inspired me. LIFE Life is but just another game We all look different yet are the same No matter who we are or what we say We all came from the same place The pace of modern life has become so fast Not like it was in the past Everyone was far more loving and kind Today it has become so hard to find Everyone is rushing around feeling stressed With no time to stop and take rest How long will this carry on Until everyone on this earth has gone? We all want a better standard of living But forget to appreciate what we have been given We are all blinded by the prospect of wealth And often end up neglecting our own health One day we all must go When that day is no one knows Only God knows how long we shall stay So lets live in harmony with each other until that day By Baljivan Singh Khalsa
  18. SORRY ERROR (ACCIDENTLY POSTED WITHOUT COMPLETION) will mean no one is different anymore. Waheguru
  19. Waheguru! Waheguru! Waheguru! Waheguru! What on earth is going on this person's mind who has come with such a vision? Driving God out? when it is God who is sustaining the world and all its creatures. Surely this will be the end of the world. In such a day and age it is religion that provides people with peace with the world burning on fire. Religious groups have added to the development and progression of Britain, driving it out and conforming to British culture

  22. WJKK WJKF Sikh mecca gears up for celebrations CNN-IBN Updated 2012 hrs IST (+GMT 5:30), 03.02.06 Email Print Mumbai: The Sachkhand Gurdwara in Maharashtra is gearing up for its 300th anniversary. Built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the gurdwara holds as much significance for Sikhs as Amritsar's Golden temple. Nanded's Sachkhand gurdwara holds special significance for the Sikh community as this is the place where Guru Gobind Singh first put forth the Guru ki gaddi or the Granth Sahib as the holy book of worship. The akhandpaaths (religious scriptures) have echoed in its corridors for over three centuries now and devotees with a special wish offer their prayers via the granthis (priests). Bedecked in gold, this shrine holds a special place in every Sikh heart. While one just can't miss the langar or community meals served in tradition, it's the Hindu rituals of aarti, ghanti and chandan tikaa practised for centuries, that remains yet another draw for devotees. "It's a different feeling to see aarti, tikaa and ghanti at a gurdwara. It's just like we are at a temple," Samita Sethi, a devotee, says. For believers like Maninder Singh, who's made this trip all the way from California after 22 years, it's the traditional essence of Sikhism that he hopes to take back home. "I'm making a documentary for those staying outside India and can't take this pilgrimage," Singh says. The city is already in revamp mode to live up to the centuries-long prominence of the Gurdwara. About 25 lakh Sikhs from all over the world are expected to throng the shrine in 2008 and this dome still maintains its position as a sanctuary for the Sikh community.
