  1. You can't escape the fact that baba Ajit Singh was from mata sundari and the other 3 sahibzadey were from mata jito Ji
  2. Exactly! And there's a reason why Rastafarians keep kesh too ... And don't forget the stash! Lol
  3. Narakdharis are the clowns who started this crap by opening fire on akj singhs on vesakhi 1978. Things escalated from there, eventually leading up to bluestar. They are officially known as nirankaris and they love to call us 'orthodox', a label which only seals the khalsa's authority as original.
  4. Bro auzer? Are you a Pakistani Sikh? Just curious with the term 'we' tagged with 'pakistan'
  5. Yeah, that avatar was a giveaway lol
  6. Oh damn... That's sad... The hell the family must be going through... The offender should be chastised
  7. Sikh regiment paratroopers( compulsory amritdharis ) wear helmets during parachute jumps. Cos at that altitude and speed , the dastar will just unravel in the first few seconds. I too had to wear a helmet over my keski when I did rappelling during heliborne ops. It was for safety reasons... The keski could unravel and get stuck in the heli's rotor blades and cause damage
  8. A friend of mine who kept his rehit during national service used to tape up his kacchera closer to the inner thigh area, simulation an underwear, so his thighs wouldn't get abrasions when going for long runs or marches. He also got a gatra custom made to fit the kirpan just below his chest, something like those gun holsters mobsters wear under their suits. And he kept his kirpan 5-6 inches for safety reasons, and got it chromed so it could stay rust free after sea swims. The kara was usually the thin type which you can pull up your forearm and keep it there as a precaution not to injure others while playing sports or during close combat classes. And he survived the army with this, I guess sports shouldn't be a problem :-)
  9. So basically it's referring to manmat songs, which in a way it's true... Romantic songs induce lust, gangsta ones induce krodh, etc... But you gave the impression in your first post that all music should not be heard, and I think a lot of us mistook gurbani keertan and dharmik songs for that too... Thanks for clearing up :-)
  10. It depends if you're the type of person who gets influenced easily or you're someone who can hold Their own admist hostility. If you're from the first category, I'll wait till university starts , and see if I can still maintain my rehit for a few Months... If you can, then with maharaj kirpa it shouldn't be a problem. For me, I had amritvela for 5 months, and once I got drafted into the army, everything went down the drain, because of my mental weakness and peer pressure
  11. Thanks bro, I wouldn't have made it if not for maharaj's daya.my next challenge will be in July when I go back for 2 weeks of reservist training with the very people whom I comitted bujjer kurehits, hopefully maharaj will make me strong enough to maintain my rehit even during that phase.
  12. To add on, pesh from akj is strictly a personal preference, not offending anyone, I have full respect for all panthic jathebandis. Also, sis, I've started keeping 4 kakkars already, and will don the kirpaan with maharaj kirpa this vaisakhi. After which , I will wait for maharaj to tell me when I'm ready to pesh myself :-) Think hard, really hard, don't jump into it :-)
  13. Sis, you could take my case as reference. I was keshdhari all along and cut my hair when I was 15. When I was 20, I read about sant Ji and 84, and got inspired to take Amrit, but my feelings were really Josh and nothing else. I took Amrit from a taksali jatha. About 2 months later I went for a Sikhi camp, and was heavily influenced by different people. It started with eating eggs, then fish, then meat. Amritvela stopped. Nitnem stopped. Soon after I was drafted into national service. I removed all my kakkars so I could fit in, and picked up smoking, and weekend vice activities with my platoon mates. After basic training I was transferred to section leader school, where I had better company, I stopped smoking because the officer commanding of my company knew my father. I picked up sukhmani sahib, reciting it regularly. After 5 weeks, I was given my final posting, to Guards ( an elite infantry unit with heliborne ops) as a sniper. There were 15 of us in the platoon, mostly smokers. My path stopped and I picked up smoking again. During the next course of 15 months, I tried amritvela a few times but whenever it came to jungle/field training for weeks end, I'll give in to smoking to ease the fatigue. The usual platoon drinking sessions in the mess continued. A year left to completion I was married to a girl who was totally inclined to hinduism despite being a Sikh, which until today is a hindrance to me going for pesh. After my 2 years of national service, I started work In my family business. This time I fell into the trap of tantriks, saadhs and babas hoping to improve my financial luck in the stock markets. In three years, I lost all my 60k investment, which happened around 2 months ago. That was what opened my eyes and I came running back to gurudev's feet. Ever since he has blessed me with vegetarianism, amritvela and an amazing nitnem of 11 banis. I'm now like a newborn child, opening his eyes to the truth and with maharaj kirpa I can Take baby steps to being a gursikh again, hopefully gaining enough strength to go pesh for all 4 bujjar kurehits. And I hope to be blessed with pesh from akj. :-)
