  2. Any Wolverhampton guys know more on this story? From what i know this magistrate guy was doing this a LOT to people. What Balbir Singh Mann has done has really put Sikhs in a negative light. I understand what he done was lawfully and morally right though.
  3. Oh tuhaadi! Did anyone hear of this? JP locked up in fraud case Balbir Singh SandhuA disgraced Wolverhampton magistrate who offered to make a court case against a businessman “disappear” for £45,000 was today jailed for 18 months. Balbir Singh Sandhu, who had presided over cases in the city for six years, claimed the victim was facing an investigation into the alleged employment of illegal immigrants. Sandhu, aged 62, of Merridale Road, Wolverhampton, told friend Balbir Singh Mann he could face a huge fine and even go to prison, Birmingham Crown Court heard today. But sources told the Express & Star today there was no such investigation. Mr Mann is a partner in Crown Polishing & Plating Services in Derry Street, Wolverhampton, which this afternoon declined to comment. Mr Amjad Nawaz, prosecuting, said Sandhu told Mr Mann he had access to where official files were kept. “He effectively said that he could make it disappear if he would pay him and his associates £45,000,” he said. The pair met at Waitrose in Penn last February with an associate of Sandhu, named as Colin Jones. But Mr Mann began recording phone conversations and eventually told police, who swooped on Sandhu as he arrived for another meeting in his Mercedes. In his car they found a document which said the file had been destroyed. Sandhu was initially charged with blackmail but pleaded guilty to fraud. Judge Robert Orme said the plot was “blatant, prolonged and manipulative”. He said: “It looks very much like a good old-fashioned blackmail case. This is a grave case because it is a blatant abuse of a position of authority and trust.” Mr Jas Mann, defending, said his stupidity had cost him everything.” In police interview former Travel West Midlands bus driver Sandhu claimed he had wanted to teach the victim a lesson and would never have taken the money. http://www.expressandstar.com/2008/03/18/j...-in-fraud-case/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/arti...in_page_id=1770 http://www.desixpress.co.uk/article.aspx?articleId=838
  4. You can just ask Sukha Singh yourself. Hes got email etc and you can invite him to your local Gurooghar too
  5. I didnt feel a thing! My mum came in to my room and i was like "kee hoya?"...!
  6. Oh wicked. Whos going? Okay, serious note, what concerns me is the below : Is this Ramgharia Gurdwara hall or is it named Ramgharia Hall? Clarification anyone? Other than that, Sikhs dont own Vaisakhi. We dont own any particular day in history to claim it. And as someone already said, Vaisakhi was around long before Guru Gobind Singh Jee chose to create the Khalsa on that day. So dont worry about what others are doing. Concentrate on yourselves and what you will be doing that day.
  7. I just noticed SikhSpeak magazine has gone :D Will miss it and thanks to the guys and girls who done the sewa for as long as they did. :WW:
  8. Dhan Sri Guru Gobind Singh Jee Maharaj. Dhan Teri Sikhi... _/\_
  9. I can admit i was wrong to say Sikhi is going down down down. I get that message loud n clear. Im not saying its us against them. Hell, im part of "them" myself. Im not saying im in a seperate group. And if it came accross im speaking down to people like some sort of King, then i apologise. Personally, i think its wrong of u to say that because even if someone was acting like that, we shud say "indeed, u r my king, i am not even the dirt in ure toe nails"...
  10. Of course... of course there are positives in Sikhi bro. People will say "yeh but concentrate on the positives" but in my opinion, we need to concentrate on the negatives to see where we are going wrong and expand and build them into positives because, negative issues are cropping up more n more in Sikhi, and people just sweep them under the carpet, but these issues need resolving. And yes, i too have met Gursikhs, chardhi kalaah Gursikhs, who i wish i was the dust off their feet myself, but my view is that those who have got to such a level are already there and will most likely (and with His grace) stay there. But we are ruining Sikhi for the youth bro. By not allowing a school to have darshan of Guru maharaj... by disallowing nagar keertans... by not creating true sangat for them where they feel they can talk openly about issues and not have someone look down on them. people may disagree and say we shud concentrate on the positives. But if we r going to get anywhere, we need to concentrate more on the negatives and cancel them out. And this isnt a moan n groan on a forum without a reason ... i hope others in other areas where Sikhs are beginning to populate can learn from this and build a much stronger community and show us idiots in the UK where have and are goin wrong
  11. I tell ya what it is - we are turning into the mob with our own little families in different towns and cities and we are hating on anyone trying to "work" our patch.
  12. no - its been there since i joined. wakeupsingho...
  13. Well, what have you seen then? I see dead people. But on the level, i see Singhnia mature faster than Singhs (sorry Singhs) and they therefore begin to understand Sikhi a lot faster and if they do begin to wear dastaars/ keski at early age, its because it is their own choice and they are not forced or anything. With Singhs, it takes longer to mature, so first comes the prattin around, then comes the bana etc. Thats the only difference i seen but i dont think there is any sorta issue other than maturity and personal preference when it comes to which gender starts to wear dastaars/ keskis in the earlier years.
  14. I agree with this thread and these comments. I personally love the events such as Kirtan In The Park and so-forth BUT if wannabe militants have something to say about Maharaj being taken to a childrens school gymnasium, then the same rule (even though im against it) should be applied to all. Not singling out a few poor organisers. One thing though - i dont believe that R4G was involved with this particular issue at the school but there should be a more global ruling and more definitive approach rather coz at the moment, u got lil kidz going on forumz raising a hoo-haa when they dont know jack *@#t. People seem to be making their own rules here. We (as the Khalsa) need to start speaking in one voice about these issues - we gotta start somewhere.
  15. Erm... i dont believe that is true. Not from what i seen in Pindland England.
  16. Agree. Most sensible answer. When someone NATURALLY does not have facial hair etc, it dont look bad but a Singh with a dhaari n that looks like a total budhoo wearing a patka. Like he from a bollywood movie or sumin
  17. As a rapper one said mo money, mo money ... mo money :D
  18. Dont be silly. Sikhs have got to build more bigger n bigger Gurdwaraz on every street - they aint got money to preserve their heritage.
  19. Dey shud call demselves Pathetic Weekly
  20. sorry coz i am a total <banned word filter activated> and uneducated, can someone explain to me a little on the history of the Nanakshahi Calendar. AK-47, are you against the nanakshahi calendar?
  21. I think certain Sukha Singhs stuck some nerves with people and they are using hate vendettas to try and cloud the fact that maybe the ones he talks about in his talk are representations of themselves.
  22. A Gursikhs spreads love and message of Gurbani far and wide. Yeah, he might chat to Naamdharis n such, what does that mean? He is anti-panthic? Some of u lot r reli thick. Let him go out and do parchaar wherever he can. What is so bad with him meeting naamdharis etc? What, do u think they will brain wash him?! From wot i know of Sukhaa Singh personally, he is a strong character and no nangs n the like could twist him their way now. If anything, he can bring them closer to Guru Jee and get them away from the Nidhaar dude. Maybe u lot shud think outside the box a little.
