  1. Hi all, I just wanted to let you know that Volume 1 of The Sikh Religion: Its Gurus, Sacred Writings and Authors is available for free download as an audio book now from https://librivox.org/the-sikh-religion-volume-1-by-max-arthur-macauliffe/. If you would like to help to record volume 2, then you can do so by going here https://forum.librivox.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=56171&hilit=sikh. Any questions, please do ask. To date, The Sikh Religion: Its Gurus, Sacred Writings and Authors, Volume 1, is the only book relating to Sikhi on Librivox. Thanks, Sachin
  2. They have a new website with all 17 of their albums on it.. http://www.sikhunit.co.uk/
  3. I heard that term in post in this forum but have no idea what it means. I Googled it but could not find enough infomrmation. What does this term mean?
  4. Is the complete Sarbloh Granth available in audio format like the Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Dasam Granth are?
  5. Sikh Unit have a new website. All their material is up on there. http://www.sikhunit.co.uk
  6. They've got a new website: http://www.sikhunit.co.uk
  7. Does anyone know where I can get a high quality version of this video (ideally the original uncompressed video). I wanted to make copies to place in Gurdwaras.
  8. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh everybody, There are a few teachings that I have heard people attribute to Guru Gobind Singh Ji but since I am not too learned in this area I don't know what the source of these teachings are. Here are the two that immediately sprint to mind. 1. Guru ji put applied oil to his arm and put his arm in a container full of mustard seeds. He pulled his arm out and said that if a Turk says "kasam" as many times as there are mustard seeds on his arm that we still should not believe him. 2. One day, after a battle against the Turks in which the Singhs won, a Singh said to Guru ji, "When we were weak these Turks took away our women, now we are strong and have won the battle we should take away their women". To this Guru Gobind Singh ji replied "Do not even think about it, if we did this what would the difference be between us and them"? Does anyone have any more details about these two incidents and where the details about them are recorded? Thanks, Sachin
  9. Unfortunately, the Area 51 site does not have a mobile app and nor does it have a mobile version of the site. But all the sites that are created using this site (including the proposed Sikhism forum) do and will have mobile versions of the site. Some have apps too (http://meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/116038/are-there-mobile-apps-for-stack-overflow ). We still need 44 followers for this proposal so please do log in and ask a few questions too if you like.
  10. N30S1NGH - Good points, Singh559 - It really is very easy. When you click on the link above you will see a 'log in' link at the top. Click on that and you have multiple ways you can log in. You can log in using Stack Exchange, Goofle, Facebook, Yahoo, MyOpenDB, LiveJournal, WordPress, Blogger, VeriSign, ClaimID, ClickPass, Google Profile and AOL. You can also create an account on the site and log in using that. They could not have made it easier for you to log in. :giggle:. Once you are logged in, you can follow the proposal by clicking on the 'Follow' link below the number of followers (currently 10). You can also ask up to 5 proposed questions. And you can upvote (or downvote) any of the questions on the site. At the moment we need 50 more followers and 40 more questions with a score of 10 or more. One person from this site has already followed the proposal. So, thank you. And to give some motivation, here is how the Sikhism site is doing agaisnt other religions (of course I now it's not a competition to say who is better than who, I know that): http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/56114/sikhism http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/53689/hinduism http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/45110/buddhism http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/14922/islam http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/11655/christianity So, if we can get 50 more people from here following it, it would make a huge difference. :biggrin2:
  11. Please do follow the suggested site. If you follow it, it will get created.
  12. Hi all, Here is a new forum that has been set up. If you sign up to the site (you can use existing account logins for Google etc to sign in too) and follow this proposal then this forum will get set up. Other relgions have their forums on Stackexchange, so I don't see why Sikhism shouldn't have one too. http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/56114/sikhism Thanks, Sachin
  13. Hi all, I'm trying to set up a Sikhi Forum on StackExchange. It requies people to follow it and upvote questions and generally take part. An Islam one, Christianity one, Hinduism one, a Buddhim one and a Judaism one are all either created or have lots of followers but no one yet has set up a Sikhism one. Any support would be much appreciated. http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/52432/sikhism Thanks.
  14. I just checked and the site does not seem to exist any more. I hope someone has a copy of all the material on the site and that it's not lost to posterity. I wonder why the site is no longer running.
