  1. IPD is just taking credit for anything anyone does. Why have IPD not spoken up now or Dhumma? Politics OR Ego is main reason Panthik Jathaa have not come together "osingh" this will only get worse soon after the election. Dhumma needs to take a stand like Sant Jarnail Singh would have and not sell out. Did Bhai Dhumma speak out when Badal was to be Honoured With Panth Rattan Fakr-E-Qaum?
  2. Sant Samaj under Dhumma is now in same party as Badal. It is sad to see pictures of Dhumma with this Nazi - leaves no faith in Damdami Taksal or Sant Samaj.
  3. What do people think about Sant Samaj, they seem to be hitting headlines all the time yet in recent panthic protests I have not seen the head Dhumma. On the other hand Baba Baljit Singh is always arrested by police for leading Gursikhs.
  4. I would really compare economic Punjab situation to developing African countries. This clip is just shocking!
  5. I find the new make up of SGPC astonishing, how can the DamDami Taksal “Jathedar” could give siroppa and now be in bed with Badal and BJP. Dhumma and SantSamaj should have spoken up against Badal becoming Panth Rattan – bring on a new election but not just people of Punjab but why not make it international!
  6. kabaddi I agree maybe ok once every month - I wouldn't mind as much if the people playing had Sikhi Saroop but majortiy always monai.......
  7. Why are SWAT and Sikh Channel not working together?
  8. Ok now watch this interview harsimrat badal on sarpanch slapping teacher
  9. I have dry scalp and was hoping someone can tell me what oil is best to use or anyone knows different oil's I can mix?
  10. can anyone do this? What if we live in Scotland, or Bradford?
  11. the complete story: why the teacher was slapped the poor teachers including the lady teacher varinder kaur wanted an audience with harsimrat badal. the burly thuggish sarpanch did not want them disrupting the clean image he wanted to present to his supremo sukhbir badal's wife. the teachers however perhaps mistakenly believed they live in a democracy and so will be able to get through to harsimrat. that did not happen. finally when the sarpanch tried to push her away she said how would you feel if your daughters or womenfolk were also getting whacked by society like we are. that did it for the sarpanch who obviously is alright with other women going through a tough life but found it hard to imagine for his own family. and thats when the hefty thug unleashed blows and slaps on the delicate lady teacher. the police took no action for quite some time saying they dont have a complaint. there were reports that the sarpanch came to chandigarh to meet sukhbir badal at his residence along with the police officer who is supposed to book him. the sarpanch is a powerful man in the politically sensitive gidderbaha constituency and the akalis don't want to alienate him for some "lady teacher". the lady teacher's family who were staunch akali supporters are now heart broken and say they will withdraw form the party. this is the state of affairs in the state. democracy??? law and order??? decency??? respect for women??? tolerance???
  12. During the camp there was an issue between some female campers and a young female Sewadar. The issue was that girls, aged 16 and 17, were saying that their female Sewadar cuts her eyebrows and how it is wrong considering as she representing the 'Gurmat Camp'. On the morning of Saturday 31st August, the female sewadar decided to 'punish' the girls for asking her why she cuts her eyebrows by making them clean the toilets. The girls were given bleach to clean the toilets. Not having done this before or used bleach before, they began using the bleach to clean the toilets as you would any other cleaning liquid. The sewadar gave no health and safety guidance etc. The girls got bleach on their hands and one somehow got bleach wiped on their arm which ended up burning their hands and arm. The girls were in agonizing pain and clearly distressed and were taking to the first aid room. The girls were kept there for 4 hours with the door shut. The camp sewadars told them they are banned from telling anyone about the incident and that this should not escape the room. The girls were reluctant to even till their parents! When the girls told what happened to them they were crying and really upset at how they were treated at the camp. If the SMS Camp sewadars cut their eyebrows which is seems to be the case for the majority then perhaps they should look within themselves and accept there wrong doings and aim to be decent role models rather than bullying and punishing campers for speaking the truth
  13. It was during the Nagar Kirtan, not during yoga.
  14. Pictures of the S.I.K.H. camp on penji's blog: http://daughterofgur...9-in-wales.html Personally, the camp was really confusing and had alot conflicting messages in the parchar. It was cringing to watch the lecture when the Cherdi kala Baba ji from Oxford stood up and spoke his mind against the speaker doing the talk, I think it was Dav Panesar(?) who was saying some really weird things that Im sure were not in line with Gurbani. I thought it was excellent when Baba ji stood his ground and said "No! My Guru is Gobind Singh Ji Mahraj". Its a real shame that campers had to watch the drama.
  15. Nice to see events happening in Kent area. I will try and attend with my kids.
  16. Nice. I watched the Discover Sikhi Talk show on Bullying and Racism. It was really good. My kids learnt something. Good if that show could be uploaded.
  17. Agree. Good point. Its amazing how my little kids pick on small things like that as well. Also would be nice if Raagis had their beards Parkaash. Some of the Tabla or side raagis have had their beards tied up and gelled up. It looks aweful. You would never be allowed on a stage to do Keertan in India if you did that. Another thing is that my daughter noticed that some of the Bibia who did Keertan with Veer Manpreet Singh a while ago had cut hair and eyebrows. It is amazing how much akkal little kids give the grown ups. Would be nice if Sikh Channel asked Raagis to be at least in Sikhi Saroop as they are representing Sikhi and there physical appearance and parchar has big difference on the Sangat watching, especially kids. I think the Live Shows are really nice. Keep it up.
  18. Video of the Sant Baba who wants to build this replica Gurdwara of Sachkhand Harmander Sahib. Sad to see Simranjit SIngh Maan supporting this Sant Baba and stooping low by Matha Tekhing him in front of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji!
  19. Has the Wednesday youth Discover Sikhism discussion show with Bhai Manvir Singh and Bass been scrapped? I only saw the first show and they announced it was a weekly show but last Wednesday night it was Katha happening instead. Also can the Sikh Channel play different kirtan during the day time. I have seen the Atam Ras Kirtan Darbar being played a hundred times! At the end of the day its kirtan but it would be nice for the channel to play different kirtan and not repeat. It feels as if the channel have a machine programmed with the repeat button. Lastly on bank holiday Monday I was watching the channel with my wife and kids and was bit worried why a Nirmala lady who was clearly not Amritdhari because she wasn't wearing a Kirpan or in Sikhi sarup allowed to do Katha? I have seen Namdharis in the past do Kirtan and Katha on the "Sikh" Channel. And now a Nirmala. Does the Sikh Channel have some Sanaatanists working for it something? How long till Nidar is allowed on if you are going to allow Namdharis, Nirmalas and Udasi who don't believe in Amrit and don't believe Sri GurU Granth Sahib is the only Guru. Look forward to a response.
  20. I herd the presenters of Gurbani program are cut hair. How can you have clean shaven presenters for youth gurbani programs?
  21. Recently my wife and I were discussing Sikhi and she said that she has noticed young Amritdhari girls and adult women are doing Kesha Di Beadbi. Sadly I have seen not one, not two but quite a few Amritdhari girls with make-up that stands out and eyebrows plucked which I believe look more odd than natural eyebrows, even if they are large! I feel very demoralized at seeing this. Having a young daughter I wish her to see positive role models and get inspiration from young Amritdhari girls. Contrary to that I have found that I don't want my young girl mixing with such Amritdhari girls because it gives wrong message. This is an important issue and needs to be discussed and awareness needs to be increased! The biggest Kesh beadbi issue I have seen is with Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha (GNSSJ). I've attended Nishkam Sewak Jatha programmes and had friends from the Jatha. I have noticed that majority of Bibia cut their eyebrows, wear no patka or keski, wear make-up, wear earrings, and keep their heads uncovered outside the Gurudwara and I seen elder ladies associated to Nishkam Sewak Jatha dye their Kesh yet they are Amritdhari. My wife spoke to one girl who has taken Amrit from Soho Road and is part of the GNSSJ. The girl had cut eyebrows and my wife told her this is wrong. Rather than be apologetic she was very defensive and said that the 5 Ks have to be adapted according to modern times and that if you don't adapt the 5 Ks then you cannot live or do well in the modern world, in particular getting a good city job. Don't the Punj Pyare at Soho Road Gurudwara tell Bibia not to cut, trim, pluck or dye their Kesh?? Less so, but still I have noticed that Taksali and AKJ young Bibia have started to wear make-up. Worst is to see an Amritdhari bibi wearing a Patka or Keski with huge amounts of make-up, lipstick and powder on the face and it looking obvious that she does her eyebrows. I myself don't realise that easy but wife picks up on it really easily because before she took Amrit she used to thread her own eyebrows and bleach her facial hair. Are Taksalis and AKJ in UK aware of this? Do Boss and Khalsa Camps raise these issues? I don't wish to cause offense. I want to create awareness and hope that Amritdhari Bibia can be strong role models and inspiration for people like my daughter.
  22. Did anyone listen to the Sweet Sikhi show on Panjab Radio yesterday? I haven't listen to the Sweet Sikhi show regularly for a while but recently I have ended up listening to the shows and I am shocked how the show has declined so much! I used to enjoy listening to the shows and actually learnt something from the presenters. But the past month or two that I have listened to some of the Sweet Sikhi shows I started to think what is happening. Last night someone called Sunjeev or Sunjeet Singh was the presenter and was talking about idol worship. The presenter could barely speak English let alone Punjabi. It's difficult to understand the shows that are meant to be for the english-speaking youth. Then in the show one caller-in rang up and got frustrated with presenter and asked what his view on doing matha-tekh to the Sikh Guru's photos was because the presenter had allowed people to ring in and say its okay to matha tekh to photos. The presenter also agreed it was okay. I just switched off then. Does anyone know why Sweet Sikhi show has suddenly gone dead in parchaar? The only other show I heard recently by another Sweet Sikhi presenter was by a presenter called hardeep singh and another guy who went on and on about mussalman and blaming the whole Sikh world's problems on mussalman. I have never heard that presenter and his colleague talk about 5 Ks, amrit, gurbani, or reht other than bang on about musallman! It would be nice if there was more decent youth parchar on radio stations because a lot of people listen.
