  1. There is no reason for the non sikh to perform lavaan, What are they trying to profess, if they have piaar for Sikhi (in 99% cases) they wont have as it's love and lust which drives these marriages, then why not become Sikh. If this is not a choice both should convert to the other's religion, practice it as best as possible and bring up their offspring in a non-confused manner. We are not after quantity in Sikhi. A handful of Chardhikala Gursikhs like Sants in the early part of this century or ones that gave their heads for the panth can have an impact worldwide, this is the type of population we should aim to nurture.
  2. I would like to ask DTF why he/she votes to like for both sides of the argument. Sukhmani Kaur was Amritdhari at the time they married so I don't understand Sunny's point, its not like they met before taking Amrit. My personal preference is arranged marriage but that's another subject in itself. Singh559, on 13 Aug 2015 - 18:53, said: I too feel for the Granthis they are treated like dirt, paid less than minimum wage and fear the committee members. In an ideal world, like if we had Gursikhs running the Akal Takhat and our own Desh, they would be protected for walking out and the committees members severely punished for openly flouting the sandesh from Takhat Sahib.
  3. Sunny Hundal the scumbag (Sorry Jagraj) has started stirring on FB following an article in the independent about 2 Sikh fellas who confronted the head Giani at Havelock Road about a Polish male marrying a so called Sikh girl. https://www.facebook.com/sunnyhundalorg/videos/875037319233019/ Unsurprisingly the money hungry Samra labelled them as thugs!!
  4. You will be hard pushed to find a date in the year when Singh's were not being persecuted, sacrificing their lives for Dharam or when protecting others.
  5. This might change now that Osborne has decided to restrict tax credits and universal credit to 2 kids.
  6. No one should hate them or treat them like animals like they do in some parts of Russia for example ,but by the same token they should not try and impress upon their beliefs onto changing the Anand ceremony. Also, Sikhs who are LGBT should not misquote Gurbani to justify being Gay.
  7. Sama ke eh Singh noo Sirapao dhi dhaat bakshni chaheedee hai, par nukta chinee vala jaade hunde han. Gurdwarey committeean manmukhaa noo siropao galaa vich pa ke paisey kathe kardhe han!
  8. The fact that they were on their way to visit Guru Sahib for sure played a part in them both being saved. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmldEZB__lw
  9. the fish are vadbhagi that's for sure, good karam have sprouted for them to be in Amritsar.
  10. When I was younger we wore Rakhri and they were even posted to us from Punjab. At that age did not know the real meaning, just viewed it as harmless fun, along with waving dhoof to photos and my gran scaring us half to death saying not to go out with open hair on specific days as they might get cut..lol. wiki says Raksha Bandhan (रक्षा बन्धन) is a Hindu festival that celebrates the love and duty between brothers and sisters; the festival is also popularly used to celebrate any brother-sister like relationship between men and women who are relatives or biologically unrelated.[3][4] It is called Rakhi Purnima, or simply Rakhi, in many parts of India.[5] The festival is observed by Hindus, Jains, and many Sikhs.[1] Raksha Bandhan is primarily observed in India, Mauritius and parts of Nepal. It is also celebrated by Hindus and Sikhs in parts of Pakistan,[6] and by some people of Indian origin around the world.[7] Raksha Bandhan is an ancient festival, and has many myths and historic legends linked to it. For example, the Rajput queens practised the custom of sending rakhi threads to neighbouring rulers as token of brotherhood.[8][9] On Raksha Bandhan, sisters tie a rakhi (sacred thread) on her brother's wrist. This symbolizes the sister's love and prayers for her brother's well-being, and the brother's lifelong vow to protect her.[10][11] The festival falls on the full moon day (Shravan Poornima) of the Shravan month of the Hindu lunisolar calendar.[12]
  11. Been to Lisbon x2 and they have a Gurdwara on the outskirts of the City if you want to meet Sikhs most fresh from Punjab. Was expecting the usual gawping with the locals like I was a martian but nothing of the sort. I was lucky enough to have guides who I knew through work. If you are vegetarian I would research places to eat before travelling otherwise your choices will be limited. Good places to visit in and surrounding areas are Casais (+Masala restaurant, worked by Punajbis), Sintra (Pena National Palace), Vasco da Gama bridge (longest in Europe) and Arrabida beach.
  12. Never tire of this album, simply one of the best by Balbir Singh Ji, transports you back to Guru Ji's time.

  14. balle balle, imagine how much of an impact he would have made had he been at least kesdhari, question is would they have signed him then.. good on him, guys done well!
  15. SYB Ji, Please quote one historical reference that shows women in Punj Piyare dhi seva. The relatively recent & small cases of Jatha Singh's who allow this practice are as rare as Giant Pandas!
  16. Women should not be in Panj Piyare, it was not hukam and is not now. I dont disagree with anything coming from a true Gurmukh as Sant Ji whether it fits my thinking or not. In this case I agree with them, have my own reasons. That's not why I'm posting though.. I liked this message from Paneer Monster some years back on this very forum. Grammar, lingo and spelling mistakes aside its a good post he definition of homosexuality plays an important role in this debate. The oxford dictionary defines a homosexual as the ‘feeling or involving sexual attraction to people of one’s own sex.’ On this basis, homosexuality is wrong for obvious reasons (kaam). For those that say its OK to be homosexual but not have sexual intercourse…- this is stupidity in its purest form. why would it be ok to have sexual desires but not act on them? - all sexual desires should be avoided. One should only desire to merge with Satguroo Ji. Its good to love others providing theres no sexual contact. In the Sikh faith sexual intercourse is only permissible with the one you have had anand karaj (Sikh wedding) with. So then people ask ‘'why cant man and man have anand karaj?'’It has never been recorded in any janam sakhi (let alone orthentic janam sakhi's) or any other part of our rich and gay-free history that anand karaj has been conducted with 2 people of the same gender so why would we change a tradition laid down by our Perfect True Guru Sahibs?... Anand Karaj is the joining of 2 souls. Sikhi recognises the perfect balance and untimate way to evoke an unspoiled and natural lifestyle. these balances are always of two entities that are clearly evident in shakta and shakti, moon and sun, ridh and sidh, physical birth and death, sri akaal thakat and sri harimandir sahib, physical and mental, miri and piri, (spiritual sense of the bride and husband lord), double sided khanda, and evidently male and female. So in terms of Gurmat what support is there for someone to be homosexual? NONE. We do believe in equality, homosexuals are welcome in the gurdwara like any other person who can not become the master of their mind including alchaholics, meateaters, drugabusers etc. Homosexuality is a choise, Satguru Granth Sahib Jee tells us how to place our mind at the Charan of Sri Akaal Purakh. Gurbani has already been quoted, I don’t feel it necessary to quote any more in this post. We are very fortunite that our Beloved Satguroo Ji;s recognised we have the intellect and brain capacity to make our own decisions. Unlike other faiths (im sure I don’t need to mention them) we don’t follow a ridiculous amount of meticulous and unneeded rules that are more complicated then java programming (if x is true then y else z) lol these rules are often hidden under the discuise of ‘life guidence’. When a religion has so many rules it is easy for one to get trapped in them and lose track of Naam Seva Simran Amritvela. Guru Jee has made us aware of the thieves (the cause of all evil) that try to conquer our minds (kaam kroadh lobh..)… Anything that brings us close to The Eternal is truth, all else is false. You do not need sexual attraction / abuse of anand karaj to get closer to the lord… they do the oppersite. We should respect the foundations laid by our Masters and respect the sanctity of Anand Karaj. In summerary homosexuality is wrong, one should focus on getting closer to the lord rather then getin closer to nex manz.
  17. I used to be of the same thinking but if we cannot ask from Vaheguru Ji who else can fulfil his sons wishes? Like a child may ask his father for something we should ask from Vaheguru Ji and just as in the real world, depending how you ask, determines whether you will receive :biggrin2:
  18. Please ask the Sant Samaj to go forward and reach out to the Badals. Oooeerrm! wait, the Badals work hand in hand with the Sant Samaj so that'll work :blink2: . Any other bright ideas? After this approach speak to the families who had a glimpse of their sons or at the very least managed to find out which prisons they were detained in due to the efforts of Gurbaksh Singh and now Bapu Ji. They are in their own words a sacrifice to these Singhs!! Yes, it is not right for this to happen or protest in this way and we feel much for their situation, but other than empty talk no one else has solutions. We are in desperate times and these call for desperate measures. Before someone harps on about Gurbaksh Singh, he did fail his mission but that is between Guru Sahib and him. I am still the dust of his feet and cannot live without food for more than 2-3 days MAX without whining.
