  1. Been watching these brilliantly researched videos by respected patarkar Surinder Singh. They provide a real insight into the political ongoings, uprisings of the Sikhs and of course treachery and injustices pre and post the events of the 1978 Amritsar Saka. Personally on the 4th video and thoroughly recommend watching.
  2. Father gave me the complete MP3 set almost a decade ago, came across it online recently. For me one of the best recitations of Gurbani and shudh enough for most. Enjoy! http://www.gurbaniupdesh.org/multimedia/listing.php?q=f&f=%2F04-Katha%2F12-Amrit+Bani+(12+CD+Set)%2F01-Paath+Sri+Guru+Granth+Sahib+Ji+-+Volume+1
  3. Good work. Agree with @BhForce points. Please implement asap.
  4. Singh, I don't understand why you're singling out politicians for special treatment. The same rules apply to anyone claiming to be a Sikh. Hypothetically speaking and yes this an extreme example; if in the loosest sense of the word a "Sikh" is raising their voice the loudest for Khalistan, rehai for imprisoned Singh's, justice for genocide, Punjab rights as per Anandpur resolution etc, but is clandestinely visiting brothel's, doing drugs or other illegitimate base activities going against grain of Sikh teachings, would you be happy to be represented by them? I certainly wouldn't. Please elaborate what was his stance on women, with examples.
  5. Bhai Sahib is blind, these are called soorma Singh's. There is a well known kirtani school aka Vadda Dera established in 1859 by Sant Shuddh Singh and later for the visually impaired in Daudhar pind, Moga Dist. Kirtanis such as Gian Singh Surjeet who are no longer with us trained there and I might need to be corrected but I think Sital Singh Sitara as well.
  6. Thanks for the clarification. Now back to IF marriages in general can someone find me a rehatnama or for that matter one of our reference teekai used by Kathakaars that a Sikh can marry a non Sikh. Oh the irony. Stop hiding behind your narakdhari idol's ID and reveal who you really are, je jurat hai and I might respond to your claptrap.
  7. 1st time I've seen this post, what a fantastic idea. Be worth approaching local committee to see if they are willing to support this initiative. Aside from soorma Singh's teaching and performing kirtan and Prof Surinder Singh who walks with a stick, all other kirtanis I've come across have been able bodied.
  8. As far as I'm aware they are not banned, they simply cannot use them as platforms to push political agendas from stages.
  9. Thankfully, I don't drink Coffee. I'll keep my reply short as I don't have the time now, but Sikhi is a niara panth we accept quality over quantity everytime. We coped perfectly fine after the Vada Ghallughara when our numbers were in the few thousands and Sikhi according to Bhai Jagraj Singh in one of his videos is one of the fastest growing faiths. We have no need to mix with other faiths (in the context of marriage) and shouldn't as per maryada.
  10. We don't, hence why I used 'if' and my response was more to you stating 'what does it matter'. Considering her father's standing in society and previous active role in Smethwick, I'd be disappointed if she married a Hindu. Without knowing the full facts, I'll leave it at that.
  11. Looks like the confused boothi bunch is out in force tonight
  12. Is it ok for us to accept interfaith marriage, if it took place at the GuruGhar, providing the person in question then works for Sikh rights?
  13. This was posted here in 2009, very much in line with missionary soch: Waheguru Je Kha Khalsa, Waheguru Je Ke Fateh: I just wanted to chime in as I see this thread has had some recent activity in light of the recent controversy surrounding the Sojhi curriculum at Fremont Gurdwara which I understand has now been removed... I'd like to thank everyone who has weighed in so far. I continue to believe that there is a great deal of potential for an entity like the Sikh Research Institute. As mentioned in my original post, they have done some good work such as helping with the making of the Widow Colony. But the good that they do should not give them a pass when they are wrong. I am convinced, now more than ever, that the worldwide sangat, particularly those here in North America need to stand up and refute some of what Harinder Singh is saying. Just to recap, here is a sampling of the more controversial aspects of Harinder Singh's "research" courtesy of Panthic Weekly: Do not believe in Dasam Granth Promote meat eating Promote pre-marital dating, do not allow parents in their camps Promote 3 bani nitnem with only 6 pauri Anand Sahib Do not believe in reading gurbani for our soul, only for research Believe Guru Granth Sahib Ji is a book of knowledge and not Pargat Guran Ki Deh Carry Guru Ji in suitcases to their camps etc Do not believe in Chaur Sahib, Parsad bhog, Guru Ji's bastar and other daily sewa Has changed Gurmantar from Waheguru to Vahguru Has removed reference to Sri Nankana Sahib from Ardas Has changed Dohre - from Guru Manyo Granth to Guru Panth Has disrespected Guru Ji by saying Dasam Pita Ji was saved by sikhs in Chamkaur (vs Guru saves us all) Has written disrespectful things about Pancham Pita's shaheedi and believe if Sukhmani Sahib could not save Guru ji from hot tavi, how can it help a sikh's problems I'm all for people having an opinion but he should be prepared to back these up. Ideally he would participate in a debate similar to the one that the Singhs in Toronto had with Kala Afghana a few years back. Bhai Bhinderpal Singh would strike me as a good person to participate in such a debate. From everything that I have heard, Harinder has so far refused to participate in a debate each time he has been requested to do so. I think we should try and identify folks within the community who are just as articulate as he is and tackle each one of his blasphemous assertions...just my two cents.
  14. Isn't he the same guy spearheading the free Akal Takhat movement? Had no idea he started PDL and what controversies..
  15. Sikhi is khaneo tikhi, valo Niki. Unless there are instant results people become weak and expect Guru Sahib to work miracles in their favour. There is no easy answer it's a hard slog for everyone, until you reach the stage of sehaj and have complete control of senses and 5 chor. It's for the reasons you've outlined emphasis has been placed on increasing naam and performing Ardas. This is why Mahapurash perform immense naam kamai to burn sanchit karams and thus form a close bond with Vaheguru Ji. Without this effort we have little chance of finding inner peace, the only other way is direct kirpa 'bin bhaga Satsang na labhai, bin Sangat mail bhareejai jeeo'.
  16. Her wiki page has inserted Singh, it's possible they are trying to legitimise the relationship. I'm really not concerned about Singh's finding like minded partners, is it really such a big issue?
  17. A dog entered the open space where the sanchar was taking place, the Singh's tried to chase it away a few times but the dog would circle around and return. Eventually it ended up under the manji sahib. Once the sanchar had taken place, this dog came and licked Amrit boonda from the floor. When Hari Singh asked vadhay Mahapurakh about what would happen to the dog, they said for sure it will achieve manukha janam once again, it was vadbhagi as it persisted. This was one of the incidents the ignorant types in Canada latched on to and turned it into the headline 'Hari Singh gives Amrit to a Dog'.....I mean even he asked them how ridiculous this sounded yet they had no response. OP, Guru Kalgidhar Pita kept a peregrine falcon, of course the diet is small mammals. So just because you are a veggie/vegan or whatever you should not restrict animals eating what they were supposed to. In the case of domesticated dogs, it might be the case a veg diet is better suited, I think it might depend on the type of dog in the first instance.
  18. Manjit GK along with Badal, is one of the biggest sell outs. He calls himself a firm Hindustani, the moorakh thinks he was closer to Sant Jarnail Singh than anyone else and even more amusing is he thinks Sant Ji never talked about Khalistan. He has also made false allegations against SFJ, claiming they are extorting money by filing lawsuits in the US court, his family had close ties to I Gandhi, he never challenged BJP on Operation Bluestar being a "largely civil disobedience"....list is endless!
