Dear Mr Singh, Thank you for your email, I also reply on behalf of Malcolm Harbour MEP, as I take responsibility for constituent enquiries from your area to Conservative MEPs in the West Midlands. As this is quite a specialist issue, I contacted my colleague Dr Charles Tannock MEP, the Conservative Party Foreign Affairs Spokesman in the European Parliament. Dr Tannock has been very active in calling for a review of Professor Davinderpal Singh Bhullar's sentence. He has also written a parliamentary question to the European Commission and co-authored the European Parliament Resolution on the issue which passed on the 7th July 2011. Both the EU and the UK government do subscribe to the universal abolition of the death penalty. As far as the accusations against Minister Kamal Nath are concerned, the Conservative Party opposes universal jurisdiction for domestic courts and the UK government is in the process of abolishing it for our courts as it makes it difficult for politicians to visit our country on official business without immunity guarantees. There is a role for the International Criminal Court in ending the climate of impunity for crimes against humanity but India is not a Rome statute signatory and I regard the alleged crimes of Minister Kamal Nath as for the Indian criminal justice authorities to investigate. ONE POSSIBLE SOLUTION: Taksaal dehre and Nihang Dehre need to be disbanded of their residents, and sent as missionaries to each and every Gurdwara in each and every Pind in punjab. If the poor simple folk of punjab are given regular satsangh and sadhsangat through Katha, ithihaas Katha, then pind vaasis will have no need to do satsangh at pakhandi dehre such as narakhdharis, radhaswamis, lucha soudha, noormehal etc WE NEED TO TAKE UP A PROPPER MISSIONARY STANCE LIKE THE CHRISTIANS AND RE-ESTABLISH THE FAITH IN PUNJAB!

Dear _____________________ Recently 50,000 Sikhs from all over the UK gathered in Hyde Park London to express their democratic right to protest against the injustices and genocide committed by the Government of India for the indiscriminate murders of thousands of innocent Sikhs during 1984. This act of genocide clearly endorsed by Congress hired mobs, murdered and raped Sikh civilians, to the extent of torture via means of placing tyres around the necks/arms of Sikh men and youths, dousing them with petrol and setting them alight. Punjab police during the period indiscriminately picked up thousands upon thousands of innocent Sikh men and youths on the pretence of them being “terrorists” and killed them in fake encounters. To this day not a single politician, policeman or individual has been brought to justice. Yet India still kids itself to believe it is the world’s biggest democracy. This past Thursday British Foreign Secretary Rt Hon. William Hague held a bilateral meeting in London with Indian External Affairs Minister S M Krishna. According to the Indian Express (Indian News website) it is reported that Mr Hague has assured S M Krishna that “the UK is sensitive to India’s core concerns and it will look into anti-India activities in the country and anti-India demonstrations will be curbed”. It is most woeful that the UK has given assurance to stop democratic protests which the Sikh Diaspora holds on various occasions. It is the universally recognised right of people to raise their concern via peaceful means. Does the UK, by giving such assurance, want to snatch this right of the British Sikh people? Britain is seen as a world leader in setting the precedent for democracy and freedom of speech. Let us not look much further than our involvement in the Libyan crisis, where our forces set out to free the Libyan people of a tyrant and establish democracy. By silencing the voice of the Sikhs, and taking away our democratic right to protest, will our efforts in Libya and across the world in other countries in political turmoil not seem hypocritical? The Sikhs have been asking for justice from the Government of India for over 27 years, and it falls of deaf ears. If Britain cannot help the Sikhs in this matter then the least Britain can do is not rub salt into wounds, which Mr Hague has openly done. Mr Hague has truly demonstrated that he is indeed a son of Thatcher as giving reckless assurances for the silencing of political protest can only arise from deep rooted Thatcherism. I would be most grateful if you could raise this issue with Mr Hague and ask him to give clarity. His assurances have deeply harmed the sentiments of British Sikhs and most importantly the very principles of this country, democracy, fighting injustice and free speech.
