  1. Gurdwareh usually tell kathavach, dnt talk about kesh, meat, drinking etc.. as we dont want it to affect our golakhs but tell as many sakhia as u wish
  2. Whatever happened to Bagri? is he still alive?
  3. There are many different types of women in a wordly sense yes and MEN to if it'll make you happy. Well alot of Sikh , Punjabi women do this whether they make it a promise or not I can see where you might disagree here as a couple should ideally have the same teacher, but with inter racial marriages etc.. this is not always the case. Whats wrong with a women helping her husand of course a man should help the women to and take intrest in each others affairs.
  4. Well in ancient indian philosophy they have the concept of the "four deeds" , the "four evil minds" and " the six holes" and also the six directions of truth" By the four great sins it is meant, killing, stealing , committing adultery and falsehood, the four evil minds are, greed anger foolishness and fear. The six holes , which cause the loss of wealth are desire for intoxicating drinks and behaving foolishly, staying up late at night and loosing the mind in frivolity, indulging in musical and theater entertainments, gambling, associating with evil companions and neglecting ones duties. the six directions of Truth are EAST - for the way of parents and child SOUTH - for the way of the teacher and pupil WEST - for the way of husband and wife NORTH - for the way o man and his friend BELOW - for the way of master and servant ABOVE - for the way of the disciples Buddha (GURU)
  5. Basically what lay Buddhists are told to follow and thought I'd share it here as i think its interesting and also is similar to Sikhism in a way. Basically their are 4 types of women, 1 - those who become angry for slight causes, who have changeable minds, who are greedy and jealous of others happiness and who have no sympathy for the needs of others. 2 - those who grow angry over trifling affairs who are fickle and greedy but who do not feel envious of others happiness and who are sympathetic for the needs of others. 3 - those who are more broad minded and do not become angry very often, who know how to control a greedy mind but are not able to avoid feeling jealousy and who are not sympathetic for the needs of others. 4- those who are broad minded who can restrain feelings of greed and retain calmness of mind, who do not feel envious of others and who are sympathetic for the needs of others. When a women marries she should make a promise to herself that she must honor and sreve the parents of her husband after all they have given them all the advantages they have and are wise protectors so should promise herself to serve them with appreciation and help whenever she can. another promise is " I must be respectful of my husbands teacher ( this can be reffered to Guru Sahib) because he has given my husband sacred teachings and we could not live as human beings without the guidance of them" " i must cultivate my mind so that i will be able to understand my husband and be able to help him in his work. I must never be indifferent to his interests, thinking they are only his affairs but not mine" another one is to not waste the income of the husband or income of the family for selfish purposes. The relation of husband and wife was not designed merely for their convenience. t has deeper significance than the mere association of two physical bodies in one house. Husband and wife should take advantage of the intimacies of their association to help each other training their minds in the holy teachings. An old couple, an "ideal couple" once came to Buddha and said " we were married after we had acquainted in childhood and there has never been a cloud in our happiness. Please tell us if we can be remarried in the next life" The Buddha replied. "if you both have exactly the same faith, if you both received the teachings in exactly the same way, if you preform charity in the same way and if you have the same wisdom, then you will have the same mind in the next birth." The true significance of family life is the opportunity it gives for mutual encouragement and aid on the path of enlightenment.
  6. I need a job well part time job , anyone hiring in the UK?? <_<
  7. To be honest mayweather allthoguh a good fighter jsut hit and run, while hatton was more of a toe to toe fighter, obviolously hatton is a light welterweight and was moving up a division to fight an welterweight fighter. Mayweather was too good for hatton, would have been better if they had gone toe to toe instead of mayweather jsut hugging every chance he got
  8. Everyone makes the excuse about how being spiritual is more important (which is might be true) But their where many spiritual individuals before Sikhi look what happened to them. Sikhs of today seem to be good at making up excuses. Why cant they just admit that alot of them are wimps. I'm sure the Guru would be happy with them telling the truth rather than trying to make up these silly excuses.
  9. " why cant you be a "modern" Sikh with a trimmed beard and have a glassi every know and then"
  10. Know one wishes to teach the ethics, the values of Sikhi, because their is no preaching in a language that the youth can understand this is bound to happen, When they is a talk its the same old ave faith etc... but Faith... Must be enforced by reason...When faith becomes blind it dies.
  11. Its funny how this has made headline news, but i remember Paramjit Singh was being held in India under false charges and may well be suffering from torture has not made any headlines ? Everything in the news today has to be about Islam for some reason otherwise its not worthy of news time.
  12. To someone who is just a Sikh by name and has little knowledge on Sikh principles it would not matter. How ever to a practising Sikh it would matter as a clash in beliefs and values would occur. Marriages between indivduals of different religions usually looks ok on paper but is hard to practise.
  13. Sikhs love to drink, dance so whats all the fuss about? The Gurdwareh only care about money, no wonder they are investing in a party hall, bet you its prob has a wedding party booked every week. You need to change the mentality of Sikhs, well the mentality of these Masands running the Gurdwareh. Cant you just kick them out? I'd e quite happy to run gurdwarehs money and affairs, Got an E in Maths tho
