  1. LOL means whatever you do for a living must be much better than translating Gurmukhi...HAHAHA WJKK WJKF
  2. Listen to Kattha (e.g Thaker Singh).... http://www.gurmatveechar.com/katha.php Check out this site for a list. I deeply recommend Bhai Thaker Singh....very clear and precise explanations. WJKK WJKF
  3. Honestly I'm sure that there was some injustice done to the poor fellow...but I don't think they would beat him up...probably fabricated to make the story look worse than it really is. Then again anything is possible in Kalyug. Why'd you post this Mehtab Singh?
  4. Usually...in most life situations that I (and most people) have encounter, the solution is not as simple as a yes or no answer...They're are always many different situations/consequences that need to be looked at and considered. Reador ask a Giani at your gurudwara to explain the meaning of the Hukamnama. And...this is simply my own opinion...but you shouldn't take a second hukamnama over the same issue...once you have recieved Guru Ji's Hukam...it is upto you to accept it no matter what. 5. WJKK WJKF Sahdsangat ji.....I've recently been wondering about this and would appreciate all of your opinion. Should someone that is non-amritdhari....but keeps kes and is trying to become one(amritshak) be allowed to do Kirtan at Gurudwara or Smagam? I know AKJ smagams don't allow that but wouldn't it help raise the self-esteem of these young sikhs and encourage them to follow Sikhi? They are not preaching to anyone, they would simply be doing kirtan that is written in Guru Granth Sahib....not taking a hukamnama, or doing the ardaas or anything. Just give me your opinion on this subject. THX Bhul Chuf Lei Mafi WJKK WJKF
  6. When Khalsa will start Raj WJKK WJKF
  7. After Guru Gobind Singh Ji left this world...he was seen numerous times after helping Singhs at various times. So it is possible to have darshan of Guru Sahibs.....I have heard about the Shaheeds darshans more however. But I do agree with Japman Singh...if we have Guru Granth Sahib then why would the other Guru Ji`s feel it necessary to do darshan??
  8. Hold up here...I disagree....It's easier to say "What's wrong with kids these days?"...rather than accept that everyone is like this when they are kids...I remember when I was a kid and how i used to do Shrarta and get punished for it and then do it again LOL The generation before us....our parents were just as rebellious when they were growing up in their teens and early adulthood age...I don't know on what basis anyone is saying that children are ruder now than they were in the past. It's a part of growing up people, everyone is a child once and learns only by making mistakes and through guidance. And our parents didn't go to Sikhi camps or anything and they probably didn't get any "talks" (they just got smacked lol)....they learnt everything from School (Khalsa schools etc.)...but nowadays in abroad (and in Punjab) we aren't taught Sikhi in schools so it should be a credit to those of us who go out of there way to learn about Sikhi and go to the weekend Sikhi classes and Sikhi camps. I agree that times are changing, people have less time for family, etc. but still lets be realistic when making such statements as "the children are so ignorant and have attitude problems". THEY'RE CHILDREN...teach our younger generation about our Great Gurus, our Shaheeds, and Guru Ji's Gurbani :WW: ....with Waheguru's kirpa they will sooner or later begin to realize the Sikhi way of life. :T: Bhul Chuk Di Mafi WJKK WJKF
  9. "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takht_Sri_Hazur_Sahib"]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takht_Sri_Hazur_Sahib" THANKS "Sarpanch"...I was having trouble finding where I found out about Guru Gobind Singh's wishes.....maybe ithat statement is incorrect though...someone please give more info on how this "rumor" (IF it is a rumor) began than...\ WJKK WJKF
  10. Oooh kk I know a little about him...how does he know Guru Gobind Singh was 5.4(point 2) ft tall??
  11. :D What is this guy on? Somebody should ask him or say something about this, instead of letting him "preach" to people about his crazy "facts". Would anyone know whether he has any sources?
  12. WOW :D ....This post was not posted to start an India vs. Sikhi debate (Which btw I have no fear or trouble of replying to). I disagree with your view....if their is anything that hurts Sikhi...the teachings of our Great Gurus :WW: I will firmly stand against them and I expect any other Sikh that loves his Gurus to do the same. Morphlkrb stated that he is aware of India and the "impact it has had upon Sikhi" (negative)...so how can you still "LIKE India". I don't see anything offensive or controversial in my post to Morphlkib. And by "polarization of the Sikhs in punjab by militarizing them" you must be referring to Khalistan...a prophecy of Guru Gobind Singh Ji...who are you to say that this so called "some" and "so called Sikhs who rouse the mob" is doing so for their own gain in power?? ( WHAT MOB?????!!!) Leave the judging part to Waheguru.... If you have anything to say about my post, Khalistan or whatever you are talking about....do so...with a clearer explanation.
  13. And to mophlrkb...how can you love India if you know what they have done to Sikhi? Do you not love your Sikhi (I assume your Sikh) more?
  14. Yeah it's all good Bhai Namstang. I'd appreciate it if you would answer my previous question about Takht Hazoor Sahib regarding Guru Gobind Singh Ji's request...you seem to be very knowledgable about the subject (or I can start a new topic :D ) WJKK WJKF
  15. When did i said i found any objection on sgpc maryada????????????? Sry about that, I mispelt that, I meant to say "I don't think that ANYONE could find any objection to that...." If historians are correct...then it is Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Maryada and not Bhai Mani Singh's, so naturally I do. The chart of "Bhai Mani Singh's Lineage" simply shows the people that were the head Jatheydars of the Jathebandys at the time....the chart seems to make it look like they are Gurus or something...which is incorrect as none of these Gursikhs taught or preached against Guru Ji's wishes. Anyways this conversation seems to be going out of control and in a totally different direction...I did not mean to start any argument with anyone...you initially started with a very ignorant tone about how "new age sikhs" always fighting with each other, etc., etc. and I gave you a reply. The initial question was...what is the Panthic Maryada asked by Heera Singh...I tried to answer the question and you can do so aswell....but please don't insult anyone or start saying that we are "bickering" when in reality we are just all trying to learn and have more gian of Sikhi... Bhul Chuk Di Mafi....Sangat Bakhshanhar hai WJKK WJKF
  16. Hahah I think we've gone off subject....(important issue too). KarKirpaaVaheguroo had a really good point. The sangat that we surround our selves with is very decisive and reflective on our own image. I can say with experience....and have seen many others as well. "What is dangerous is that often because of the difference in look - others will ask them questions etc. and when they are incapable of giving a decent answer it just makes Sikhs look dumb. This happens so often." (dalsingh101) I think that's a pretty big generalization your making....I would think that Singhs/Kaurs that keep their hair would "usually" know more than what a "mona" would know about Sikhi...and even if they don't know very much about Sikhi for Guru Gobind Singh....just keeping your Kes and Panj Kikaars is 50% of a Sikh for Guru Ji. Bhul Chuk Di Maafi WJKK WJKF
  17. WJKK WJKF Bhai Namstang...I agree with every single one of those lines of that Maryada...I don't think you could find any objection to that as that seems to be the basic beliefs of Sikhism (other than the Raag Maala part which has many debates over its validity) I don't think there was any conflict or "bickering" as everyone was very polite about the issue. I posted the SGPC website for Heera Singh not you Bhai Namstang... You did not seem to see the point of my arguments...I believe that with ONE APPLIED Maryada, we would not have issues such as Chairs in Langar halls, or Aarti towards photos, etc. With the numerous maryadas, there are some that have continued to believe in Human Gurus, etc. I am not saying that this would stop with a single Panthic Maryada, but it would most likely of have, if it had been applied many years ago. Better late than never....I am not educated enough to speak of Raag Maala or other issues similar to that, but I know that it should be. And I don't think different Jathebandys are fighting each other or anything, so I don't understand why TALIKHAAK wrote the story of past Singhs fighting under the one Nishaan Sahib....nothing has changed, the Singhs and Kaurs of today would do so as well. Although I have all the respect in the world for Takht Hazoor Sahib...and the numerous Singhs there that do much seva (as you pointed out for soem reason), there is also a large proportion of "Singhs" there that after hearing Guru Granth Sahib's hukamnama feel the need to finish their tradition of killing a goat (or some animal) with Charkha and then eating the flesh and drinking the blood. Please don't compare sevadars by the Gurudwara they go to...we cannot characterize a Singh/Kaur by which Gurudwara they go to, Seva is done at all the Gurudwaras' around the world. It is upto Waheguru to judge that seva... "I highly beleive five takths are five pillars in the khalsa panth, and they all equally represent "Guru Khalsa Panth"" From my knowledge, I have heard that Guru Gobind Singh Ji did not want any monument or Gurudwar at the place where he left this world...so if that is correct than would not the location and presence of Takht Hazoor Sahib be incorrect and against Guru Ji's wishes?? (Please explain this.) I am simply asking a question and would not like to make any point...as I am not educated enough about this to even have an opinion on it. I agree with Bhai Sahib Chatrik...the TRUE Panthic Maryada is not being followed, and won't be unless we are all willing to change and get rid of our ego's. Bhul Chuk Di Maafi WJKK WJKF
  18. I think it's the same thing, Jathedar Mohan Singh (Jathedar of Akal Takht) was their and he approved it and was part of the Advisory committee.. http://www.sgpc.net/sikhism/code_of_conduct.html So ya... WJKK WJKF
  19. http://www.sgpc.net/sikhism/sikh-dharma-manual.html Firstly here's the official Rehat Maryada by the SGPC... And for Namstang...I am perfectly aware of what I write...you can watch the daily Rehraas Sahib on Aastha Channel on ATV which is broadcasted live from Takhat Hazoor Sahib. You can see the Gianis do Aastha to Guru Granth Sahib first and then go to the big picture of Guru Gobind Singh and then do aastha there...not only was a platter containing the lighted lamps waved in front of Guru Granth Sahib and the photo of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, but after doing that, the 'Poojari' of the Takht takes the platter around for the Sangat to do what Hindus do in these rituals - they take their hands upto the flame, and then wipe their face, eyes, head with the hands. I have family and friends who have also personally gone to the Takht and seen this with their own eyes....but whatever forget it, I don't understand why we started this conflict. All I want is a mature conversation, instead you chose to reply to some of my points but completely ignored my other posts and my main point. WJKK WJKF
  20. I don't think anyone was fighting Namstang...Heera Singh had a valid question which some ppl (including myself) tried to answer, I don't see any conflict or how we are "fightin like kids". Anyways I must be the newage Sikh you speak of too...I disagree with you on the differences in Sikh Maryada...in my opinion there should be one maryada that the whole panth should follow. I see too many problems that have arisen from different maryadas being followed by diff ppl. Here a few that I know from the top of my head: -A major example would be Takht Hazoor Sahib. Where the Gianis do Aarthi to the photos of the Gurus in the presence of Guru Gobind Singh...not only is this disrespectful to Guru Ji, but it (Aarthi and worshipping of Pictures and statues) is against Sikhi. So then tell me, seeing such an example from one of our Takhts, how can Akal Takht allow this to happen? -A second example which is more of a problem in Canada is the use of Chairs in Gurudwaras...especially in the West Coast there are now numerous Gurudwaras that allow Chairs into the langar hall....also against the teachings of our Gurus. -Even the Nitnem we do in the morning has not been synchronised with our fellow Sikhs...Some do long Chaupai Sahib, Swaiyay, and Anandpur Sahib...while others (under the Guidance of theire Panj Pyareys at the time of Amrit Sanchar) do the shortened versions...how is this right? These are the reasons why Akal Takht was born...it is the primary seat of Sikh religious authority and central altar for the Sikh political assembly. I have much respect for your previous posts and am in the process of reading your posts of JapJi Sahib which has given me much knowledge...HOWEVER I do not appreciate your arrogance on this subject, you have not given much of an answer to Heera Singh's question (which was a valid one) and instead brought some unwanted negativity into the topic. Bhul Chuk Di Mafi Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.
  21. I'm reposting this...so I'm not sure if you will see it twice (Im new on this forum) Anyways heres a website I found : http://www.sikhlionz.com/rehatmaryada.htm You can ask the webmaster where he got his sources from, as the whole thing seems to be copy pasted out of somewhere else. Anyways I hope this helps.
  22. Here's a website I found on the "Official" Maryada. I'm sure if you look hard enough you can find it... http://www.sikhlionz.com/rehatmaryada.htm Its copy pasted straight out of somewhere so if you ask the webmaster or something you may get the actual sources...hope this helps.
  23. The "Akal Takht Maryada" or "Panthic Maryada" is written...I don't think its available online or anything like that, even though it should be... Some points in there are such things as the Shortened Chaupai Sahib in Rehraas Sahib, and proper way to take a Hukam Nama and from what side (left or right)...etc. Dastars are required....they are always in any maryada you read. If you meant Dastar as opposed to a "Pag" then the Maryada is that the last laar is not allowed to be tucked in from behind....(meaning that little bit that you leave at the beginnning...) That's some of the points that I know of about our Panthic Maryada...but there definitely needs to be only one. Meaning same length of banis read everyday (Chaupais and Swaiyais), etc.
