  1. Hey thanks for all the commens. MODS PLEASE CLOSE THIS THREAD Maharaji have me the strength to forgive her and has helped me move on totally and shown me happiness in being single and content within myself. Thanks for your words of advice and wisdom.
  2. Thank you all. I'd like to sort of summerise if I may. It seems we have two differences in opinion. My gut instict says that all 5 K's are EQUALLY important, and if we keep the other 2,3 or 4...then why not the Kirpan? Or at least we if start off with the Kara, then Kesh + Kanga, then Kaacha then Kirpan...work our way up slowly. The other side of the coin are those people who think the Kirpan is different? I respect your point of views but I also can't see how it's any different from the other 4, other then the fact that it is a 'weapon' in the modern day sense and we are afraid of carrying it if we are not ready, or we feel it may cause problems with the authority. I imagine a lot of you, like myelf, have 3 or 4 of the K's but for those who have 4 but not the Kirpan, may I ask you why you do not carry the Kirpan if you have the other 3 or 4? I'm just curious from a psychological point of view!!!!!!! (SOrry about the spelling, its early and I'm tired!!!)
  3. Its great to see so much gossip about vairous issues related to the chammar 'caste'...I find it a really great insight into anyone who visit this site who wants to know more about Sikhi.... It really gives them an insight into the : ONE THING THAT IS CAUSING SO MUCH PROBLEMS WITHIN SIKHI.... How many of you have actually been to a 'Chamar Gurudwara'? And what gives you the right to offend these human beings? I'm a chamar, I keep my kesh...I keep my dastaar, I belive in GGSJ as being the ultimat and everlasting source of Sikhi, a lot of you guys fails to realise that it is ISOLATED individualas that cause such tensions and issues within Chamars and other Sikh communities and there shouldnt be this widespread gossiping and condeming of another 'group'... We all keep control of condeming Muslims and Hindus (well some of us do) but don't we just love gossiping about our own community!!!! Well done. By the way...the Gurudwara I go to have Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Dasam Granth ji BOTH as the focual point with Guru Nakak Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji as well as Bhagat Ravidass. This sort of disucssion has been posted so many times before and I'm surprised the mods havent closed it already. NEHMATs comments are VERY APT!!!!!
  4. I use fixo purley for work related reasons.....its pretty good to use...a lot of older sangat i know use it..so I thought I'd try it. However, it proptly comes off after work and when I go Gurudwara. However, i have a sneaky suspicion Fixo is some nasty chemical entity, so if anyone has managed to figure out what Fixo (or Simco) actually contains it woul dbe greateful!!!
  5. Very lovely name...i think DAYA SINGH is a beautiful name also.....
  6. 1 year old MacBook...5 hour battery life after full charge. I remember the good old days of lugging around my HP media laptop or my Vaio....having only 1-2 hours batter life!!! (Methinks there is a subliminal message for all those non-Mac geeks out there!!!)
  7. Thanks for the comments...!!! Does the first response : 'Yes. As long as he doesnt break rehit.' not also apply to all 5 K's....or is special signficance paid to the kirpan? I mean if someone only wears the Kara and keeps Kesh and breaks rehit...?!?! So how is the kirpan any different? Also, in the same sentance, I'm sure a lot of us (who are not Amritdhari) break our rehit whilst wearing some of the K's?
  8. I was waiting for someone to say something like that hence the use of the ' ' . In a lot of communites around the Uk thats i've been to, families use the word 'Gursikh' for those who keep at least their kesh and dastaar so please don't pull me up on that one cause I already know that it really is better associated with Amritdhari... Also, where does showing off come into this? I mearly asked if it was something someone can do, but didn't imply it involved me at all. But again, thanks for those useful comments or 'assumptions' about the poster...
  9. Just want to know if a non-Amritdhari 'Gursikh' (i.e. keeps Kesh etc) can wear a Kirpan in their process of becoming an Amritdhari?
  10. With all due respect to the thread, how come the mods have allowed the phone number of the family to be put up online? OK, its a beadbi going on which is VERY serious...but I always thought the mods didnt allow personal details like that to go up? Any clarification?
  11. The mods do a good job. However, it would be good to ensure: 1) People post in ENGLISH and not : "lik dis u knw wt i mean" 2) Moderate ANYONE who posts foul language or attacks against ANYONE (be they Sikh or Non-Sikh) 3) Maybe have a subforum for younger sangat or something? I think a lot of postings and comments come from very young folk but are often lacking in substance (no offense meant) so maybe a listing to deal with their issues and another listing for those a little older..?? also, 4) Maybe control the postings that are obviously put up to cause infighting or hatred...things like "Look at this article" or "Check this site out"...some are valid but I'm sure some posters just try and raise attention to certain issues without good cause.
  12. Thats a great reply!!! Thanks!!!
  13. There is nothing wrong with getting engaged at an early age. In most cases it's the choice of the individuals...granted some could potentially be quite immature, but I'm sure there are many 18+ who are pretty mature enough to know what they are getting themselves into. Also, I don't see anything wrong in getting engaged (with a view to marrage) in terms of Sikhi. As long as both partners are focussed on Sikhi, there shouldn't be this "OH STAY FOCUSSED ON SIKHI AND NOTHING ELSE, FORSAKE THE WORLD AND EVERYTHING IN IT AND LETS JUST LOCK OUR SELVES IN A LITTLE ROOM AND JAAP NAAM" Whilst that would be VERY GOOD to do, we all have commitments and should not take an ascetic view on things. We all have to make chioces about marrage, it's NATURAL....(please don't bring BF-GF or Sex into this)....finidng a parter is an important step in that process and nowadays it's done in conjunction with the parents. Finally, if two Gursikh Jivans are 18+ and wanted to get married...what better expresion or love...in every sense of the word...both individuals are commited to God and each other and both will support each other on their path towards Sikhi.
  14. Just curious to know if its possible to marry (Sikh boy and Sikh girl) without the parents being present within a Gurudwara....for example if one of both passed away or without the parents blessing etcc..
  15.
