  1. 1.None of the denominations you have mentioned have similar maryada or nitnem to start with. Let alone for us to even consider their lineage traces back to Guru Gobind Singh's time. 2. When people claim their lineage goes back to GUru Gobind Singh sahib himself starting them like how Taksal or Budha Dal does. To such extent that both claim "we" were trace back to Baba Deep Singh jee. Then conclusive historical evidence matters, because both lay claim authority & legitimacy in their narratives, maryada, interpretation of Gurmat in many key area. Evidence matters because in nihangs, what mainstream Sikh see as Kurehit(e.g. meat, intoxicants(marijuana)) have been normalized. Even interpretation of Gurbani is twisted to suit their narrative & bias. Problem definition/Conclusion: These lineage claims are merely oral claims without any substantive conclusive evidence.

  2. Basically gurbani is talking about and directly to those religious extremists/fanatics of hinduism, islam and christainity went around preaching all others religious books are false and only their religions has the only truth and path to salvation. Gurbani is saying those who do not understand the meanings and essence of most religious books are false. And most religious books are teaching humanity the same basic principles how to live a civilized human being and do good to each other and how to run a moral society and seek salvation through meditation/prayers. Gurbani is NOT saying Islam/quran is true so don't refute or counter its arguments. Is NOT saying vedas/hinduism is true so don't refute or counter its arguments. Is NOT saying bible/chrisianity is true so don't refute or counter its arguments. Because quite clearly in vast majority of instances in SGGS Ji most of rituals and tenets of islam, hinduism and christianity are countered and are refuted.

  4. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Often times when I or many other Sikhs are debating people of other faiths, I allways hear some Sikhs bring up the line: ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬ ਕਹਹੁ ਮਤ ਝੂਠੇ ਝੂਠਾ ਜੋ ਨ ਬਿਚਾਰੈ ॥ - Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Ang 1350 Which is translated to mean: "Do not say that the Vedas, the Bible and the Koran are false. Those who do not contemplate them are false." Link to full shabad: https://www.searchgurbani.com/guru-granth-sahib/ang-by-ang I have asked many people about the true meaning behind this tuk, and most people would agree that its correctly translated, however there are some who would disagree, and translate it in a way that is directly the opposite of what the English translation means. Let me give you an example: Literal meaning breakdown ਬੇਦ = Literally meaning "Ved" referring to the Vedas from Sanatana Dharma (often called "Hinduism") ਕਤੇਬ = Literally meaning "books", however in the context of Bhagat Kabeer it means the three major abrehamic books: bible, quran, torah. ਕਹਹੁ = Literally meaning "Say" ਮਤ = Now this is the part that is often disputed. How one interprets this one word can change the entire shabads meaning, and even affect Sikhi as a whole. Often times people will say "mat" means "do not", however the same word is also used with different meanings. An example is the word "Gurmat", this word doesn't mean "Guru Dont". ਝੂਠੇ = Literally meaning "false" or "untrue" Differences in Opinion The AKJ founder Randhir Singh translated this tuk to mean that Bhagat Kabeer (who is technically not a Muslim but a Sikh as per Gurbani) is saying that this tuk is saying that the ved and abrehamic books are false, however most of the English translations that Sikhs read, seem to suggest the exact opposite. I am personalty not AKJ or any other jatha, and I disagree with some stuff Bhai Randir Singh says, however on this specific issue, I lean towards "ਮਤ" not meaning "do not" in this context. The reason for this is becuase if you take the entire shabad, as well as the life of Bhagat Kabeer, its obvious that hes criticizing Islamic practices, and fundamental ideas of the abrehamic regions, and the eastern dharmas under the blanket of Sanatana Dharma. People often bring up the counter argument that "all relgions/dharmas have some truth in them", and this is generally true, and varies on specific relgion or dharma, however in general, the reason Sikhi needed to be revitalized in the 4th age (Kal Yug "the dark age") was becuase all other religions and dharms had failed (as stated in Dasam Granth which is generally believed to be written by the Guru in his 10th temporal form). Bani also criticizes the vedas on other shabads, correct me if im wrong, but at one point it literally says that its make belief, so then why would the Guru contradict itself? Here is an example of a counterargument against the English translation of "Do not say that the Vedas, the Bible and the Koran are false. Those who do not contemplate them are false." Link to counterargument: http://www.searchsikhism.com/islam-in-gurbani My questions for Sikh who are educated in Gurbani: What do you guys think of this? Do you think the English translation of Gurbani was deliberately changed to not offend others? If so, what is the correct way to interpret this tuk?

  5. The shabad has to be looked at as a whole with the tuks that proceed. There are a few important messages in the shabad and they don't demean ancient texts written thousands of years ago. This shabad's important message is "chutah joh na bicharey"... To understand the context, you have to meditate/contemplate this shabad deeply. Spend some time on it and I would be more than willing to work through it with you so that you end up with a more truthful understanding. Few points to consider is that - Kabir ji is addressing this to the mullah,...He's not addressing the wisdom of the texts, but the practice and vichaar of the people...

  6. ‘Veda Koran bible do not say they are false, false are those who do not contemplate’ meaning, the Vedas, Koran & bible are not false because they contemplate parmeshvar, those who do not contemplate parmeshvar are false. Essentially it’s the contemplation of parmeshvar that is being exalted here above all else regardless of faith or religion etc

  7. What I understood from this, and I ask for an apology in advance, is that don't just blatantly rule out something because of the status quo. Don't just be a mindless sheep that follows popular opinion, however formulate opinions on your own. If most Sikhs or people in general are saying the Koran is fake, the Vedas are fake because they are not texts from their religion, don't just accept that. Find out for yourself. Read, understand, contemplate on them, and then form a conclusive opinion on them. Because otherwise by calling these texts fake without having read them in the first place, makes you as fake as your accusation.

  8. Everyone knows that nihangs in both budha and tarna dal practice jhatka and drink shaheedi degh, but people always say “oh that’s going against rehat” and “that’s a “kurheit”. Mate go and look at all the evidence out there that says that we ate meat. The English have been successful in messing up the Panth. They changed our dastaars, made most of the Panth think that dasam and sarbloh Granth is not authentic, changed our nishaan sahibs and made us into some Brahmin religion. Looking at the Sikhs today, it really does look like we are a sect of Hinduism with our vaishnu practices. Go and read your history and see for yourself, stop making sikhi into some Hindu sect! go onto http://www.jhatkamaryada.com/ and see for yourself the amount of evidence from souces ranging from Panth Prakash to the British themselves!

  9. On the other hand, "Rise Canada" is indeed anti-Sikh. It's not even a real organization. It's just Ron Bandar-ji and his website. The logo shows a maple leaf rising out of a lotus. I don't know what that's supposed to mean, that the Canadian renaissance will come out of Hinduism? Bandar-ji is a infamous Candian Bengali Sikh-hater. Did a Sikh take his lollipop when he was a kid? Who funds this idi ot?

  10. The video you posted https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3fqDonyV6M is not by a Jewish extremist. His name is Kevin J. Johnston, a Canadian Christian who is anti-Islam and is not anti-Sikh. He says some friendly things about Sikhs here: Muslim Boys Are Lying To And Defiling Sikh Girls In Canada https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kF0mMswTg60 Note: there is no video there because the account has been terminated (i.e., censored) by Youtube. Let's not fall into the position held by some Jews that any criticism of a Jewish politician is anti-Semitism. Merely criticizing a Sikh politician is not "anti-Sikh". There's an been an awful lot of criticism of Jagmeet Singh here on this board, are we anti-Sikh? Jagmeet Singh wants a bigger government and high taxes to pay for it. This guy Johnston doesn't. He has the right to criticize Jagmeet SIngh on that basis if he wants to, that's not being anti-Sikh. Since you are basically anti-Islam, I would imagine you should actually agree with Johnston, because Jagmeet Singh is basically the same kind of head-in-the-sand politician regarding radical Islam that Justin Trudeau is.

If your talking about Randhir Singhs translation, its already in the link I shared, if you havent read it, then here it is again: http://www.searchsikhism.com/islam-in-gurbani As for Bhagat Kebeer, its so obvious that he is a Sikh when you take his bani into account. Even if he and other Bhagats were around before Guru Nanak was physical born, they can still be Sikhs of the Guru, the ONE Guru (there is only one Guru as per Gurbani).

  15. Vaheguru's creation is immeasurable. Do I think Sikhi is pure truth? Yes. But clearly it isn't the only path to sanyog. If you think it is, it's haumai sorry. I have no knowledge regarding this bani, but this comment is more directed at the Sikhi is the only way mentality, which anyone is free to believe but I'd caution one to consider the weight of this statement given the infinity of time, space, and place. I've turned to Sikhi, and thrown myself at the feet of the Guru for a reason. It is pure truth, but it's not the only expression of pure truth. Note, I'm not saying these other paths are pure truth, but they contain enough truth to forge saints and the naam is an open path to all, regardless of the naam they use, if one fully embraces Vaheguru as Sikhi teaches, sanyog is available. My gut says this bani is about respecting other faiths and respecting the truth they contain to whatever degree. I however am an illiterate child in regards to Gurbani. I'm sure I've offended some people, but it is what it is. I'd feel like I was letting you down by not saying this. Beware the trap of trying to own Vaheguru and thinking you can describe and own the entirety of Divine, Immortal, Timeless, Selfcreating, Fearless, Hateless Truth and Love. Japji Sahib speaks to this. Feel free to hate away, I've said this with love for you all, and the utmost respect for Sikhi as pure truth itself. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh

  17. The translation above is not correct on some of the verses. This is a mistranslation done by Sanatanis and promoted by RSS. The correct translation to some of the verses should be as this. Throughout the world the Khalsa Panth will be prominent. The (Khalsa) Dharm will prevail and the Hindus and Turks will be banished The first Vishram(comma) should be placed after Dharm not after Hindak as the sanatani translator has wrongly done. The Hindak and Turkan is grouped together as the two Panths that the Khalsa(the teesar panth mentioned in the preceding Tukh) will banish as the Khalsa will become prominent through out the world. Also in this composition it is written the Mandirs and Masjids will be destroyed by the Khalsa(ਮੜੀ ਗੋਰ ਦੇਵਲ ਮਸੀਤਾਂ ਗਿਰਾਯੰ). The Khalsa will destroy the Vedas, Shastars and Purans of the Hindus(ਮਿਟਹਿ ਬੇਦ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਠਾਰਹਿ ਪੁਰਾਨਾ) and the khalsa will finish the Circumcision practice, Azaan,Namaz and Quran of the Muslims (ਮਿਟੈ ਬਾਂਗ ਸਲਵਾਤ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਕੁਰਾਨਾ) In Uggardanti it is written about the two Panths(Hindu and Muslim) ਦੁਹੂੰ ਪੰਥ ਮੇਂ ਕਪਟ ਵਿਦਯਾ ਚਲਾਨੀ । ਬਹੁਰ ਤੀਸਰਾ ਪੰਥ ਕੀਜੈ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨੀ that since there is too much Kapat(corruption) in the two Panths(of Hinduism and Islam) the teesar Panth(Khalsa Dharm) has been created and is superior. either this was the worldview of the Khalsa of the 1700s or maybe this was a Bhavikat Bani or a Bani predicting a future MahaYudh or great war in which the Khalsa will become victorious over both Hindus and Muslims.

The reason they are saying don't find someone else right now is they want you to focus on the correct thing your studies and future. Last thing you want to do is go the bollywood drama route and messup your A levels ... There is plenty of time to worry about your life partner later, honestly getting with someone who is going to sour your relationship with your family is a really bad idea as it will leave you with zero support if anything goes wrong . Maybe postpone all this rush and say to your folks that you will revisit this whole issue in a year or so, and you make it clear to your BF there is no messing around to be had and we'll all see if he lasts the distance of time proposed ...

  21. <<<Tulsee Das was a Saint. When he was young he was devoted to reaching God and he struggled slowly on this path. When he got married he was head over heels in love with his beautiful wife, she became the sole reason for his living, everything he did was to please her. One day he surprised her with a gift - she was overwhelmed by his love and said, 'If you were devoted to God half as much as you are to me, I'm sure you would have reached God by now.' The words struck Tulsee Das to the core and his earlier life of devotion came flooding back to his mind, from that day on God became his sole focus once again. Many years later when Tulsee Das was old and wise and respected by all in the village as a saint, a Brahmin priest came to him. He said to Tulsee Das, 'All my life I've preached and read the scriptures, but I haven't met my Beloved Ram. Tell me what I should do?'. Tulsee Das said, 'It's very simple, all you have to do is climb that tall tree and jump off the branch with full faith that Ram will catch you.' The Brahmin was inspired and climbed the tree, he sat on the branch and looked down at the hard ground below. No matter how hard he tried he couldn't make the leap. Many hours passed and the Village HeadMan (SarPanch) walked by with a bag of money. Noticing the Brahmin he enquired as to what he was doing. The Brahmin explained that Tulsee Das had said that by jumping off the tree Ram would catch him. The SarPanch who wasn't a religious man quickly said, 'O Brahmin, if you like you may have this bag of money, but give me Tulsee Das's blessing in exchange.' The Brahmin didn't take too long to think about the offer and was soon off on his way with the bag of money. The SarPanch climbed the tree went across the branch and with full faith in Ram he jumped off. Ram caught him like a baby in its mother's arms. Sounds too unbelievable to be true? But look for the deeper meaning, there's a very, very important spiritual point to this story. I am like the Brahmin, I do my nitnem prayers and preach to people. I do Waheguru Waheguru meditation and I follow the bits of the Guru's Shabad that I like and ignore the bits that are difficult to apply. I follow half of the Hukam, God's Order, and my life trickles away like this then I wonder why I haven't met Waheguru ji. When my brother comes to me with a great business opportunity my focus becomes how I can make lots and lots of money and in the background I rush my nitnem and Waheguru Waheguru meditation. My life trickles away like this and I wonder why I haven't met Waheguru ji. But one day with Guru Ji's great kirpa, I hear the story of Tulsee Das. Now I realise I am like the Brahmin, I have lots of things to live for and I am scared of dying. Guru Nanak Ji says 'I have no anxiety about dying, and no hope of living.' (p20). Why is Guru Nanak Ji so brave? Because he has full faith that Waheguru ji is looking after him 'SIREE RAAG, FIRST MEHL: I have no anxiety about dying, and no hope of living. You are the Cherisher of all beings; You keep the account of our breaths and morsels of food. You abide within the Gurmukh. As it pleases You, You decide our allotment. || 1 ||' (p20). So in my ardas, 'Guru Granth Sahib Jee you have given your blessing like Tulsee Das gave to the Brahmin. Give me full faith in your Gurbanee Words like the SarPanch had full faith in what Tulsee Das said. Baba Ji may I follow your words 100% and if it kills me then I have faith Waheguru ji You yourself will catch me.' And dear Khalsa Ji, when you die while alive and are caught by Waheguru ji then you will be called Jeevan Mukhat. While still alive you have obtained liberation. By dying to the Shabad one finds the True Life held in the arms of Waheguru ji.>>> vahigurooo

  23. 1) Similar nitnems or Maryada mean nothing. Depending on the lifestyle different marayadas and different nitnems are used, that's common sense. Why would a warrior lead the same lifestyle as a e.g baker. That's why their Marayadas differ but both are Parvan because they lead different lifestyles. 2) Except there is historical records of it, you can find it in places like Amir Bhandar Steek and steeks from the 19th century, to find records you need to know the various names the oraganisation takes as they change through the courseof history ,Both Samparadayas lay claim to the lineage and both don't refute the other, the opposite actually as both consider each other brothers, there's no conflict there. Why the hatred for Nihangs? because they eat meat? There's plenty of historical sources that say Sikhs ate meat, what intoxicants are you talking about? is this about Shaheedi Degh? A universal rehit will and has never existed, due to the fact that there were several traditional organisations within the panth all doing their own seva for it. One can't be applied to the other. "Mainstream" sikhs are also misguided, some believe that all paths lead to God, most wouldn't even know the 5 Banis, so why are you concerned with the mainstream panth. There were several pages on SA about this very issue, I urge you to go and read them. They're pretty good.

  29. Exactly. Something everyone needs to take note of within this past week taksal has accomplished 2 major things for the panth. 1. Completion of janam asthan gurduara for sant baba jarnail singh ji khalsa 2. Completion of Thara Sahib gurduara within darbar sahib. Somethings that should be noted about Damdami Taksal- 1. It was started by 10th guru, guru gobind singh ji maharaj 2. Each mukhi has always been one of the greatest mahapursh's of their time and have done very important things for the panth. Taksal is not just some organization or committee, there is nothing really like it in the world, because this is a group that guru sahib started themselves. People need to reconsider their thoughts and words when they say Taksal is falling or has been driven in the dirt and etc. When they say these sort of things, they are insulting all of Taksal, including all previous mukhi's, all singh and singhnia who were in Taksal and all of their jeevans and their sacrifices, and even Guru Sahib themselves. Also people should really reconsider their thoughts and words when they talk about the state of the panth, and the state of sikhi. We should never say Sikhi is dying, or people are killing it, it will never happen. People from all over the world have tried, the greatest empires in the world, and all have failed. Sikhi isn't something that will be wiped off the Earth. We need to remember that Guru sahib is always watching over us as a panth and as individuals, because we are their children. The chaar sahibzade are always standing by as are all shaheed singh's, and all sikhs in sachkhand. Don't worry about the state of Taksal or the state of the panth. Worry about the state of your own sikhi. The rest will fall into place.
