The question, though, is that you seem to believe the khand specified above is different from the khand in olden times. You are right, though, that a block of butter from Tesco is not to be used. It should be clarified butter (ghee).

  2. I'm glad prominent Sikh representation in the Canadian government is annoying the Indian regime. It's amusing to see the Indian government constantly raise concerns and undermine foreign Sikhs to whichever western government it deals with at the time, almost suggesting that one key condition of Indian cooperation hinges on how well the western government in question undermines its Sikh population under the flimsy pretence of preventing "extremism." Unfortunately, Indian economic influence means they are, and will be, heard to a certain degree. It's so obvious how the Indian apparatus wants the Sikh diaspora to be toothless, voiceless, and powerless. Seeing Canadian Sikhs in somewhat influential and visible roles in Canadian politics must be so galling for India. British Sikhs would do well to follow their example when it comes to political engagement and involvement.

  3. What are your thoughts on this recent article? https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/sikh-separatists-in-canada-drawing-ire-in-indian-media-before-trudeau-visit-1.3792889 Here are my thoughts: You know you are on the wrong side of history, when you attack freedom of speech. "Sikh relgious sucessionism"? LoL! Have they ever read Sikh history or Gurbani? Its common sense to those who are educated on Sikhi that the Sikh Panth is meant to be distinct from others and be independent. The Khalsa is literally meant to be a sovereign army and institution all in one, that only answer's to the Guru, that by itself isnt legal in another country, and its a pretty obvious hint that the Guru clearly taught Sikhs to be independent, but of course. But of course all this means nothing becuase most "Sikhs" in India dont support it, which must mean its a radical idea, even if its backed up by history and bani... Of course its going to come up coincidentally when a Prime Minister visits India, what better time to attack Sikhs. One could make the argument that the Indian government lets Hindu right wing national movements flourish, and there's actually proof that India got a German official to spy on Sikhs. Or what about that time that that. If you wanna talk about state sponsored terrorism. there's a lot of accusations India has gotten, but the problem with them is that they dont care. Read article: German official charged with spying on Sikhs for India : https://www.thelocal.de/20160920/german-official-charged-with-spying-on-sikhs-for-india India State Sponsored Terrorism: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State-sponsored_terrorism#India Amarinder Sengh is a meme at this point, he will say anything to tarnish the reputations of Sikhs abroad. He is salty that international Sikhs are making it, and that him and his third world government are losing their power over the Sikh community. At this point, who cares what that ladoo has to say? its obvious hes doing this as part of his personal smear campaign.

  4. frankly speaking says so much about our heritage that people have to attack in numbers even one Sikh , maybe it's time we restamped a new legend of toughness . I know all the musleh spend their time doing sports martials arts etc and get their lads doing the same from a tiny age (3) very very pushy on their kids to be aggressive . They are planning for the near future . Our lads need to leave the pubs and clubs to the saps and build real character and weight . Our Girls too

  5. yep but as Guru Pita ji has said the main faults in the others is they have muddied the waters by either focussing the seeker on their own names , dividing humanity by 5chor related divisions or plain removed naam from the equation ... so Guru ji has relayed the same missing information to those seekers so they can fufil their missions on the paths they started on ... without being trapped on lower levels of attainment because of their Guru's lack of instruction/support

  6. It should be noted that Sikhi is part of the Dharmic framework which is very different from the Abrehamic framework. When Sikhs do parchaar, their aim isnt to "convert" its to spread the universal truth that carries no particular identity. It would be accurate to say that Sikhi doesn't promote trying to "convert" people (in this case into the Khalsa sub tradition), however its fine with spreading universal principles of "Sant Ka Marg", which dont carry a particular identity and are purely dharmic, not religious as per the abrehamic framework.

  7. Oral rehit. But I would say it's based in the ethos of Gurbani. Because if you believe from Gurbani that 1) Mankind is one brotherhood with one Divine Father. and 2) Nasha (drugs) are poison then why would you not also believe 3) You shouldn't want to poison your brother

  12. Source? As far as Bani is concerned, all humans are equal before the one, all "religions" are not. Sikhi isnt a "relgion" its just the universal truth, some of which is contained in "religions", and there is differently more in some than others. Being free to believe what you like, and believing that "every path is right" are two completely different things. The Guru criticized the Hindus beliefs so much, but he still sacrificed himself for their freedom to believe what they want, even if its not inline with Sikhi.

Members of the board encouraged me to read the quaran to back up what I said. I then read the quaran and realized I couldn't back up when I had heard academically so I retracted my posts that I could no longer stand by. The originals are still quoted so I'm not hiding anything, just not standing by my original statements. There are definitely trolls here. I'm not one of them but in your opinion I am. That's cool. You'll get over it some day brother man. To confused face. Some of my posts aren't properly marked by you, you're slipping a bit. I need you to be 100 ji. Let's get em all, we can't have one or two slippin like that.

  14. We are quite reactive, whereas muslims are being proactive. This all feeds into masculinity. Our people have de-valued masculinity whereas muslims value masculinity. We live in a feminised society and Sikhs being part of society have embraces this. My kids have been doing martial arts for years and I notice the same observations as you do. At a particular age, during school age you notice more muslims. However, in my observations Sikh kids participation increases considerably around 16 and it is when they get picked on and have to make changes. Another observation is that it tends to be Sikh fathers that take their kids to martial arts lessons whereas Muslim mothers are far more supportive. Very infrequently do I see Sikh mothers take their kids to martial arts lessons unless it is for grading. I think the mistake our parents make is that they think taking their kids to martial arts deprives their kids of education. In fact martial arts is complement because it teaches kids discipline and this carries over to other areas like their school work.

  15. The Sikh lad wanted no part of any confrontation. You can see in his body language that he was backing up as soon as they started to walk up to him. The smallest guy out of the pack was the one that landed that blow. I remember seeing this up and down the country outside clubs when I was younger. Apne lads getting sparked out when drunk. ‘Je peeni aah taan fir shittar raj ke khao’. The difference between our lads and Muslim lads out on a night out is that our lot go to get drunk and fall about like idiots. The Muslims train during the day and enter the clubs sober and leave the clubs sober at the end of the night. Then they go looking to hand out beatings to our drunk youngsters who are in no shape to defend themselves.

  17. In india we used to use khabd that was cube squared abt 1 mm in size. We didnt use granulated sugar also as gurr n shakar come from sugarcanes or ganne then khand must be the next step. So get shakar n try to find out how to turn it into khand. Also most definitely shakar is different from khand as both are mentioned by bhagat kabir ji in the same pangti. About butter. You can make ur own from milk. Theres lots of youtube videos on it. But the indian way is. First turn milk into daahi/ yogurt. Then churn into makhni or whipped cream. Then heat that to get ghee. Also google this. Ayurveduc ppl have lots og videos. Very healthy. Has lots if vitamin K as it had pribiotic yogurt in which bacteria make vitamin k.

  18. Have u watched maha bharat? The way they use the word dharam is diffeent. To them dharam was specific to each person. And different for each person. Like the dharam if a brahmin vs a kshatri. The dharamofa mother vs the fathers. So they defined dharam as duty or morals being a righteous person. Even we do. Eh banda bahut dharmi aa. We dont mean religious we mean saintly or has good qualities. That is the difference between dharam and mazhab. Dharam is usually concerned about an individual. And istrying to get the individual to be better. And dharams are always getting ppl to stop doing something. Like quit alcohol. Or do something. Take amrit While mazhab is concerned with communities.Getting laws passed to make abortion illegal. Or stopping abortion clinics in ur area. Or getting all meat to be halaal. Or breaking idols and desteoying temples. Its always an effort based on a community. Also more concerned about worldly affairs or outwardly elements. Like which way do u face when praying etc. I think christianity is the most dharmic out ofall3 abhrahmics. Because it focusesmore on inside, so most like budhism.. Judaism is more sanatan, its the oldest and ppl r ok with othershaving different interpretations and as long as ur born into it, its up to u to follow, so most like hinduism. And islam isthe you gest, most war like, more abt prescribed prayers...least dharmic...but a little like sikhism. At least outwardly.

  20. Sri guru granth sahib ji is limitless ocean of gyan-wisdom. Other dharam scriptures are sea of gyan in the ocean. Check out comparative commentary by sant gyani gurbachan singh bhindranwale on mahavaks of gurbani and vedas. http://www.sikhawareness.com/topic/15795-~~deep-gnosis-behind-mahavak-in-gurbani~/ http://www.sikhawareness.com/topic/15768-gurbani-position-on-vedas-beautifully-explained-by-sant-gyani-gurbachan-singh-khalsa-bhindranwale/ Sant isher singh ji rara sahib used to say in their divans, karam and upasana of all dharams are different , different but when it comes to gyan, they all point towards same gyan. Hinduism have main four mahavaks among others in upanishads, vedant such as: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahāvākyas The Mahavakyas are: prajñānam brahma - "Prajñāna[note 1] is Brahman"[note 2], or "Brahman is Prajñāna"[web 3] (Aitareya Upanishad 3.3 of the Rig Veda) ayam ātmā brahma - "This Self (Atman) is Brahman" (Mandukya Upanishad 1.2 of the Atharva Veda) tat tvam asi - "Thou art That" (Chandogya Upanishad 6.8.7 of the Sama Veda) aham brahmāsmi - "I am Brahman", or "I am Divine"[7] (Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 1.4.10 of the Yajur Veda) Buddhism also have main mahavaks among with others: Heart sutra- Emptiness is form, form is emptiness very similiar to our gyan- Nirgun Aaap Sargun Bhi Ohi http://www.sanghalou.org/oldsitebackup/heart_suttra.htm Gate, Gate, Paragate, Para Sam gate Bodhi svaha Gate, Gate, Paragate, Para Sam gate Bodhi svaha Gate, Gate, Paragate, Para Sam gate Bodhisvaha. 33. 304} 1. The Manmukh (such person who is run by his mind) person stays stuck in greed all day. Manmukh is interested in non-Naam tasks and actions (ਹੋਰੇ ਗਲਾ). 2. At night the Manmukh is overcome by sleep. All the 9 doors (mouth, two ears, two nostrils, two eyes, two excretory organs) are lose or weak because they are indulged in non-Naam actions. The word ਢਿਲਾ means lose in the sense that the 9 doors of the body are not under the control of the Manmukh and rather the Manmukh is under their control. During the day, the Manmukh is stuck in greed and at night by sleep. In other words, no time for Naam Abhyaas. 3. Manmukhs are totally under the spell of Kaam and for this reason, they are under the control of women. 4. Manmukhs, under the spell of Kaam, do what women tell them to do and for this reason they are impure and stupid. 5. Such persons who are under the spell of Kaam are impure persons and they do as women tell them to do. The above was the literal explanation of the points 3, 4 and 5. The above pankitis apply to both men and women. There are so many stories and tales in our folk-culture to prove that when persons act under the spell of Kaam, they don't make rational decisions. They listen to their partners, not because what they are told is correct but because they are under the spell of Kaam. The story of Pooran Bhagat is just this. Raja Salvaan the father of Pooran Bhagat got married to Loona who was almost the same age as his son. Loona, the step-mother of Pooran Bhagat tried to seduce him and when he rejected her advances, she falsely accused Pooran Bhagat of molesting her. Raja Salvan was totally under the spell of Kaam and without thinking, sentenced that his son by cut into pieces and thrown in a well. Everyday we hear tales of men and women acting under the spell of Kaam and doing some really stupid and atrocious actions. There was a report of a woman who killed her young children because she wanted to be with her boyfriend, who did not like the fact that she had kids. She killed her kids for the sake of a Kaamic relationship. Newspapers are filled with stories where a person under the spell of Kaam obeys the evil requests of his or her partner. In the above pankitis, the reference is to such men (or women) who under the influence of Kaam, listen to evil advices of their partners. It is not directed towards women in general. Guru Sahib who was the protector and unholder of the honour of women could have never asked his Gursikhs to not listen to women in general. The Hukam of Guru Sahib is to not get under the influence of Kaam and then listen to evil suggestions of women. This Salok is very clearly geared towards ਕਾਮਿ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਕੁਸੁਧ ਨਰ (Impure persons under the influence of Kaam) and not towards men who otherwise have loving relationships with women who are their mother, aunts, grandmothers, sisters, daughters and wife. 34. Islam is the answer. Islam will succeed where others fear to tread. It will restore order and propriety to a decadent and degenerate culture that is determined to destroy itself. I'd feel sorry for the West only if it wasn't deserved. Any culture, race, or group that is blind to its inevitable destruction, and not only ignores the signs but eagerly heralds its own demise deserves nothing but contempt. Whether we drown with Westerners or not is a choice that is diminishing with every moment until there'll be no choice remaining at all. Nah, I'm kidding, divorce is all the rage in Punjab, too. Ain't no goreh there. ?

  35. Where to start The difference between now and then was that girls in particular were taught values of being responsible, caring, respectful, household duties and nurturing in extended families. The degradation of social structure in our families due to Western influence and upbringing and liberal tendencies has not helped one iota. The root cause in IMO is lack of control and regulation through a firm hand and for women independence through full time work, therefore less reliance on breadwinner. Even the bandhay have become pansies and there is a crossover of defined roles in the home, certainly does not help. In the past great stress was placed on discipline and even an element of fear from a young age, this is disappearing fast, I know members in my family who would be reluctant to or never give a thapar for non compliance, back in the day but far less now now, a good thrashing hanging over ones head, meant compliance was a given. This is viewed as child abuse and the barmy laws see it as violence against kids which is why in the UK, we have children controlling classrooms, teachers can all but stand and watch, juveniles hanging on street corners drinking cider, repeat crime levels though the roof etc etc. Even gorey had a hold on the kids before the 80s, now its a free for all. Working all hours of the day and leaving children in the care of nanny's usually of another faith is another bug bear of mine. What can they possibly instil in our children. No shared values, no idea of honour, Sikhi, reverence of bazurags. Divorce should be an absolute last resort, most things can be worked out, when all other means have failed, but you're right, it's like its going out of fashion.

  36. There are no 10 Gurus, there is only One, and the Guru isnt a "prophet". Gurbani literally says there is only One Guru: "There is One Bani; there is One Guru; there is one Shabad to contemplate." - Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Ang 646 https://www.sikhitothemax.org/ang?ang=646&source=G Sikhi is described by the Guru himself as the "Sach Dharam", is that also like the term "Hinduism", Sanatana Dharma? IS SIKHI HINDU-IZM??? As I already stated in my other comment, Sanatana Dharma, is a blanket term used to describe an ocean of different south Asian originated beliefs, some may be dualistic, others may not. Sikhi is unified, who knows, Sanatana Dharma might also be, but its not interpreted that way by modern scholars. Modern day "Hindus" (basically Indians) are not really dharmic, and just do a lot of stuff out of superstition and ritual, this goes against the sach dharam. Also, the marriage ceremony that you are talking about isnt the same across the board. Im not sure about that term, and I need to research it before I give my thoughts. I haven't really heard this word before, but I think I know the argument your trying to make. The words that we use when describing something, especially something as important as Sikhi, are important. Gurbani itself is very careful in how its constructed. In regards to dharma vs relgion. there is a significant difference between eastern and western schools of thought, and to truly understand each school, one must look at them through their respective theological lenses. Distinct words are important becuase they serve to help (literally) distinct ideas. Would you be fine if people started calling the Aadh Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji: "Timeless Teacher Book Sir" or Siri Guru Gobind Singh Ji as "Teacher Preserver Lion Sir", or whatever is commonly understood to be the correct "translation". The words that we use, especially in a highly evolved, and constantly changing language like English, matter. One could argue that why speak English at all, however thats not the point.

How strange it is that some Sikhs feel the need to hate on their own history. I would say that this line is merely metaphorical. Guru Tegh Bahadur ji was not actually smashed against Aurangzeb, rather Guru ji smashed the state led by Aurangzeb. Thoughts?

  41. A amritdhari in this case jagmeet Singh always has loyalty to Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji before anyone else in this world. So politically jagmeet Singh holds his loyalty to rehat before any political agenda in Canada or party. He stood strong and ties a dastar, wears his kakkar and sticks up for Sikhs. Now coming to the topic at hand. Jagmeet Singh engaged to a girl who is not amritdhari. Taksal, sant Maskeen Singh ji katha, and Hazoori rehat were brought up to promote jagmeet Singh decision to be okay with Sikhi. This miserably failed because the first two didn't apply and the last point was shown to be manmat. Now it has come to, you can't get between jagmeet Singh and his fiance and the Guru. The Guru has spoken on who a amritdhari is to marry. The Sangat has took this advise and applied it to jagmeet singh's choice. The choice is wrong. The sangat pointing this out has bothered many people. Gursikhs and sikhs love to hear the rehat of Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji. They praise the rehat but here the sangat who expresses the rehat are being subject to nindiya and chugli. This truly speaks to the mindset of these people. These people are not satisfied with the Guru's rehat. Gurbani says to be content with the Guru's teachings. Jagmeet Singh falling in love with a non amritdhari girl is like getting drunk on Fridays and going to the Gurdwara on Saturday night with kakkar and Bana. Alcohol has its benefits like rubbing alcohol for clean wounds. However you wouldn't take that alcohol and drink it to poison the mind as Gurbani warns us against. Hence the sangat, jagmeet singh future wife who is engrossed in maya (her character is displayed on social media for all to see) and will be spending a lot of time with is not approved by Gurbani. In passing we meet many people in the world who are engrossed in maya. Simple conversations are had and we move on. We don't force our views on them. If they ask about Sikh, we are more than happy to explain. Jagmeet Singh has made a huge mistake on selecting a nonamritdhari for a marriage partner. He should have followed his Guru's teachings on such a big decision in life. I hope the youth don't see this choice and make it as something they want to do as well. Instead the youth should look to the Guru and don't be fooled by the false show of isolated links and messages many people place all over the internet. There is a lot of false information being presented.

  42. As a politician he doesn't owe to any particular group of people, he owes to his constituents and his constituents are vary diverse group of people. Just because many sikhs may have voted for him or may be part of his party donor list does not mean they will now dictate his personal life. With that being said, he did made his engagement as photo up by inviting media so i guess its fair game if people don't like what they are seeing. They are entitled to voice their opinions. I've seen reactions from wider Canadian audience too both positive and being thrown off comments who invites media in personal family event -very tacky at the very least. As a amritdhari singh if he falls in love with non amritdhari and marries non amritdhari, thats between her, Guru and sikh gyani who administer their anand karaj where she be encouraged to adapt Gursikhi life style and thats up to them since it be done in front of hazoori of Guru maharaj its between him/her and Guru, so again its none of our business as him being regular baptised sikh* (he is not a jathedar of misal, sikh leader) he is not really answerable to fellow sikhs but rather panj pyare and or sikh gyani who administers their anand karaj. So if you have sikhi related issue with him, take it up to panj pyares. He has done tremendous work for wider Canadian community including sikh community, none can take that away from him. *Wonders* if he was a regular baptised sikh not famous canadian politican would he be subjected to this type of scrutiny ? I didn't think so. Now as far being him being gursikh role model goes, is he claiming to be role model. If people wrap their head around personality worship and bunch of human pointers and consider him to be role model thats their prerogative not his. Heck, its not like its emanating from him that he is role model, its not like he is declaring every where he goes that he is role model. I've find people to have unrealistic expectations from others and put them on pedestal and get all disappointed if they don't meet our standards. Would you be guys be satisfied if her fiance waters down amrit like many akaalis and sgpc leaders have done- them and their spouses taking amrit just for sake of getting seat and position in sikh panth. I wish them best of luck.

  43. I'm sorry that your children are subject to racism. I'm happy that you've been there for them as a voice for support and a voice of truth in your community. I applaud you sir. I'd just ask of you perhaps show some compassion for Jagmeet since he's a human being, and you yourself have been in very similar shoes. Keep up the good fight, of addressing racism and homophobia, and your very successful marriage is a beacon of light to many who still face persecution. There are still a lot of unanswered questions in the above posts, it's okay if you don't want to respond to them all, I think they're good food for thought for anyone.

  44. Why not contact Jagmeet SIngh in private then? Why not be so quick to address every other trangressor of rehit? Why be so angry about it? If none are high and none are low, how do you pull a man down to his rightful place? Didn't you just get called about your own rehit? In the past, when people called you out and they did it in a mean way, how'd that make you feel? Maybe the dude could benefit from reading your profile pic. Keep the confused looks on all my posts going, I'm going to print it on a t-shirt. Last question. How does saying "f" Jagmeet Singh embody the spirit of helping a brother? At least in the south they say "bless his soul" or "bless his heart" when they mean f that dude.

  45. You missed ‘jealousy’ I said that too or maybe you agree with me on that one. I sense your vein on the side of your head about to burst. You hate me now too. Just chill out geezer! Put on some velvet slippers, light a dhoof, brew some camomile and listen to some Marvin Gaye or something.

  46. I didn't date him ... but like a broken record you keep repeating the same old stuff... I was aware of my status and how it would affect another and I am not big on lying to anyone so I didn't even try. No doubt there are many girls who are not as scrupulous and pose as gursikhs and do roma di beadbhi but then make out that they never do that and marry amritdhari husbands who are not aware of the deceit which affects them too (patit marrying a gursikh).

  47. Guys secretly admire girls with open hair. My husband always used to encourage me to leave mine open. Uncut hair is hard to leave open without it blowing everywhere and getting untidy. I finally told him - they cut their hair to get that look. So yes- being amritdhari does mean that you have rid your feelings for a spouse whose looks match the western ideal stamped upon us by advert after advert about what looks best. Why don't people see it as a positive - as in a cut hair girl actually married a sikh boy When they reject pag vale we complain - do wheres the praise now? An apna married an apna and we are still sad. What do we want and who made us judges by the way?

  48. somebody should explain to the two of them that amritdhari sikhs should also have likewise spouses irregardless of gender of amritdhari person . As far as his cringeworthy proposal vid shows (released today ) she shaves her pits, does her eyebrows, trims her hair also and probably her legs as she is in the phashion trade.
