  2. VJKK VJKF I can accept they were around at different times and weren't in joon and everything but I don't understand this whole past life and being different people and not perfect and our sikh gurus in other lives. Vaheguru Ji.

  3. VJKK VJKF I don't know how I feel about this. I thought all the gurus had no past lives. It's just not right... how can a mere mortal do many lives of bhagti and become the guru? Not just any guru but the only true guru in this world and all the next worlds and are god themselves. This confuses me so much. I've always been taught that the gurus were god themselves on earth because they were one with god and god came themselves 10 times in the human form. But there are many mahapurakhs who are one with god so why don't we consider them the guru as well? I'm really confused and it's really shaking me... I just can't come to terms with this. Vaheguru Ji.

  4. VJKK VJKF Sangat Ji, I'm hearing that apparently the gurus had past lives. I find this hard to believe because I thought they were Akaal Purakh themselves so can someone please enlighten me? Vaheguru Ji

  5. given that Indira had planned since 1980 to attack Harmandir Sahib , built full scale replica in Doon valley in 1981 , asked three times and got refused three times by her General to attack the Gurdwara . I think your folks are totally deluded ask them if that is true why did her father attack in 1952 and her son in 1986 and again 1988 . that family just wanted to drive home that sikhs are ghulam nothing less and if they could they would have finished us off .

  6. VJKK VJKF chatanga Ji, I never said I doubt my gurus. I said that I find it hard to believe because of what I've been taught before and that I've never been given any straight evidence. If Guru Ji said this themselves then the conversation stops here but I have not said anywhere I doubt my gurus in the slightest. Vaheguru Ji.

  10. If it was only to get santji, why attack on sri guru arjan dev sahibs shaheedi purb? Why allow all the sangat to come and fill up darbar sahib then place a curfew? And so noone was able to leave. Why not attack another day when not so much sangat? Why not place curfew and stop sangat from coming in? Why kill the sangat in the parkarma?

  12. Our greatest sin, is not that we commit wrong actions. Because tempatation is great and we are weak. But the greatest sin is, that we can turn our attention towards Him and hold on to Him and we do not.

  13. Guest Angry Jee, your cousin´s chacha is absolutely wrong. It is evident, age does not bring gyan, rather by His kirpa, and those blessings are surely on you, so be strong mentally, for the world will always try to put one down, instead of being supportive, but Wahiguru is with you, that is why you have that prem and sharda in Him. So thank Him, for that precious gift. Regarding your case, you see, it is said that if the path to our destination Wahiguru, was short and easy, and we had unlimited time at our disposal, then we could begin the journey of bhakti at any time. But the fact is, our condition is the opposite, the journey is long and ardous, and the time is very much limited and uncertain. Therfore, would it not be wise to start as soon as possible? Time is passing rapidly. Minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years just seem to flash away, so, where is our sense or urgency, when we should be making the most of what we ought to really do, which is His bhakti as our first priority? Living in the world, interacting with people, it all seems to be so real and true. Our daily routine, work, friends and family, all take up a significant proprtion of our time and attention. Considering them to be urgent, we put off, that which is truly important. We all have good intentions, lofty goals, and even the desire to attain them. However we are caught up between, that which is important, our devotion to Him, and that which, we think is urgent, as per our daily worldly life, duties and resposibilities. "The urgent" has taken over our lives so much, that, "the important"is put on a back burner, and unfortunately either forgotten or postponed. Wahiguru does not say, leave all your duties and come to me, rather we have to be like swans, while being in the pond, when the need arises, it flies with its wings dry. The same should be with us, from the 24 hours at our avail, we should take out time for all activities and duties, but, we should not fail, to devote certain time of each day, in His rememberance. We owe our existence to Him, so should we not, as thankful children, pay Him some attention of love, by doing His bhakti? just as we want to make money right from our young years, so that in the old age we should live with dignity without depending on anyone or anybody, in a similar way, the "dhan or wealth of Bhakti", which we go on gathering or amassing, with eaxch passing moment in our lives, is the only wealth, which we can ever carry with us, everything else shall be left behind, except our heavy karmas. So why not gather that dhan as much as possible, that also which is showered freely by Him upon all. Our attitude in gathering this spiritual wealth, should at least be, just like as a miser gathers each one penny and puts it into the piggy bank. Though His Name is unvaluable, and no amount of any money in the three lokas can make it ours, if it was not for His grace and mercy alone. The wolrd will keep on putting us off from the path of Truth, nevertheless we should pity them, and with courage and faith in Him, do our bhakti as much as possible. Stay blessed. Sat Sree Akal.

  14. VJKK VJKF Sangat Ji daas has been blessed to hear many kathas on the spiritual side of Sikhi (bani, naam, Shakti of abhiyaas, avasthas of sants etc) and I've heard that among all the mahapurakhs Sant Thakur Singh Ji had the highest avastha? Is this true? Feel free to drop anything about any mahapurakhs or anything in general about Sant Ji. Vaheguru Ji.

  15. What you say is true. But I would add the following: The sakhi is widely told in the Sikh panth that Guru Gobind SIngh ji bowed (with his weapon) to Dadu's smaadh. Then the Khalsa imposed a tankah (religious punishment) on Guru Sahib for violating the Khalsa rehit. However, some gianis also add the caveat that Guru Sahib did not make a mistake. Guru ji knew what they were doing all along, it was merely a test of the Khalsa to see how closely they follow the rehit and if they grant any exceptions to anybody, no matter how big they might be. Similarly, I think it can be said that the Gurus did indeed live various sorts of lives prior to coming in contact with the Satguru, but that was for our benefit, to show the power of Satguru to change lives, to bring people up from the normal to the highest, and the power of bhagti and seva. The Gurus did, e.g., worship the Devi and so forth, but only like an actor in a play.

  18. VJKK VJKF Phaji, controversial means when you say something that is there solely aimed to cause public disruption. I ask questions because I have a genuine urge to ask questions which I have no other sangat who can answer. Sorry if you think I'm doing this to cause controversy as you believe it is my "penchant" to do so. I'll do my best to stop asking "controversial questions". I think a better suited word would be deep as appose to "controversial". Additionally, I do actually engage in veechar now and again Ji - not as lot as I used to do as I was on holdiays but I started off doing veechar before asking questions. Hope that helps and that I haven't offended anyone. Vaheguru Ji.

  19. point I'm making is relying on someone's imagination is just that ... like my husband pointed out when I got disappointed I could not see the footsteps nishan of Guru ji at Chungthung on the boulder 'is it more important to know His word's and actions or see evidence of his footfall?' Is it more important to know the shape of the nose , the colour of the skin or deepness of His love and experience of hearing his Bani? Waheguru ji lives in all of us , in everything we see the bismaad is endless when you sit and contemplate...

  21. God doesnt need to do bhagti. What would God do bhagti of? himself? Maya is created by waheguru it is nothing without God...the mind boggles at how maya became so strong, God needed to subdue it... @Singh2017 consider this a lesson on why not to believe everything on the internet. Also please dont be confused. Guru Nanak Dev ji certainly did not have a past life. Guruji is the avtaar roop of Waheguruji. About the other gurus, it does seem like they had past lives. But dont worry, if waheguru ji can reside in scripture form and hear our prayers and answer them and accept the food we offer and perform miracles and even in the Granth avataar, not be limited in power. Then God can choose to reside in imperfect human beings as well and not only purify them but make them him. Tell me what is stronger paap or wahegurus power to cleanse paap? If waheguru is most powerful, then paap, joona are nothing to him. Where he appears that place and person becomes pure. Im not an akj but one book which can answer ur question as to why sants arent considered like gurus is the book: 'Is worshipping Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Idol Worship?' The book is by Bhai Randhir Singh Ji. You can find it online. On vidhia.com or ikatha.com or google it. Its name might be Is Bowing to SGGS akin to idol worship...

  23. They could have issued an arrest warrant for Sant Ji like the first time he was arrested in 1982 I think. If they really wanted to get Sant Ji from Darbar Sahib complex, they could have switched the water and electric supplies off in an attempt to get him to surrender. The fact they attacked Darbar Sahib wasnt just an attack on Sant Ji, but was an attack on the hearts of all Sikhs. Sadly, this seems to be getting distorted.

  26. Thats wrong! I hate wish the government would already just go to hell Government tried their best to destroy sikhi and are still trying to today. (Thats a whole other story) This left people with many misconceptions Like yours or even the whole sant ji being a terrorist by the government If Sant Ji was a terrorist or whatever, then why did the government release him from jail after a month after he willingly gave arrest? (the government would never be able to catch him any other way) However, If he wasnt a terrorist, then why did the government capture him in the first place? The government had a whole month to try to make a b.s reason or something to keep Sant ji in jail but they couldn't. Even after release, Sant ji did open parchar, until the one incident, where buses with sri guru granth sahib ji maharaj were burned, and many sikhs were beaten or gave shaheedi. Why did the government create a complex that replicates the original Darbar Sahib, and practice much before the attack? The answer to all above questions is that the government was looking for an excuse to attack Sikhi by "flushing out the terrorists". Also why were 40 other gurduawaras sahibs attacked beside Darbar SAhib, where there really "terrorists" there? And If not, then why did the government attack? Even if Sant bhindranwale did not reside at Darbar Sahib, would this have prevented the government from attacking it anyways? Why did the government kill all innocent sikhs inside Darbar Sahib, if they really were clearing "terrorists" Why did beadbi of puratan granths and saroops of sri guru granth sahib ji happen if it really were the case? This is a short response to some of the stupid understandings people have nowadays. Anyways, you should probably stay away from your relative if explaining this to him does not sit well. Then again, this is kaljug, and it has gotten to the point where, sant sipahis, gurmukhs and proper gursikhs are seen as terrorists while in sachkhand they are given a seat.

  27. You're blowing this way out of proportion. I'm not talking about evolutionary changes. I'm talking simply about the way we perceive things and respond to stimuli - this has changed over the years. The constant influx of information we are exposed to today has changed the way we process it - we need more stimulation to produce a response - at least in the early stages of ones journey. Regardless of this, we know how closely the senses are linked and how humans are inclined towards one more than the other. Even if we take all of the above out of the equation, symbolic imagery and practise have been a part of Sikhi since the beginning. So where's the harm in a few pictures here or there? Do bear in mind I'm not saying they should be the focal point or even anywhere near the focal point. Either way I don't understand why you and so many other people are anti-imagery. It's a dangerous trend which has led to such deep objection of anything visually pleasing in a bid to bring back the supposed Gurdwaras of old, that some now look like the inside of a conference hall.

  28. bro ever thought this is Maya testing your resolve ? Guru ji wants us to be pukke not dil de kache . What your folks don't realise is that models are highly exploited and can be pressurised often into abuse especially youngsters, it's not all that it's made out to be . Last week a teenager died at a photo shoot because she was too scared to tell them she was sick. I'm glad you chose better it's not fair your Mum, Dad and chacha ji trying to live vicariously through you , they have their lives to lead and you yours if the call of Guru ji is strong in your heart , follow it there is nothing wrong in trusting the perfect Guru ji. Start doing your nitnem banian as it will smooth the ripples made by Kalyug and help create a calmness in you.

  30. Dusht Daman was a Monarch who reigned near current day Hazoor Sahib during Satyug, deciding to meditate on God he goes to Hemkunt Sahib and starts tapisya there to become one with God, he succeeds obviously. During his time there in a different region of the world Durga is battling demons again, the demons overwhelm her and she flees the battle field, from the katha I heard she became so weak she actually lost her corporeal form. Finding a Rishi doing tapisya she begs him to protect her. That Rishi is Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Maharaj. The Rishi protects her and the demon hoards come to him, demanding he hand over Devi. Rishi Ji is unafraid and prays to Waheguru who sends Dusht Daman to help, Dusht Daman (also being a warrior) razes the demon army along with an army of lions (created by Rishi JI from his lion matt), iirc Durga also takes part in the battle after Rishi Ji restores all her powers. It was during the time of Dusht Daman that Sarbloh Granth was written.

  31. I think we have to understand what guru is. This is how it works in my opinion. Feel free to correct me: God was alone first then he created naam then satguru. After that he created the world. So its kind of like the christian trinity. God is 1 but has 3 forms: naam, satguru, and God himself. Very similar to trinity: father, son, and holy spirit. It is satgurus job to go to all the lands and universes to enlighten the people. So satguru was pargat in our world as guru nanak dev ji. But the other gurus like bhai lehna seems to be normal humans with karma and past lives. Forgive me if im wrong. Like bhai lehna worshipped a devi, bhai jetha was an orphan...these all seem karmic. But satguru has paraas kala, no greater then paaras kala. A paaras turns stones to gold, but doesnt turn stones to paaras, itself. The guru can turn ppl not only into gurmukhs, sants, devte, but also the guru. Then the primordial jot of satguru resided in each of the gurus as it now resides in SGGS JI. some of these thoughts i got from gurmatbibek.com. others are mine. Please satguruji forgive me if i have spoken wronglyor against ur shaaan. For how can a mere human know ur mysterious grand ways

  32. Sant Thakur Singh Jee also believed they would come back and remained in Chardikala. As much as I respected their kamaee and that of old school Taksali Singhs, I find it hard to believe. I replied to a private message on this very topic. Sant Jee's body was found riddled with bullet holes, all at the front, this shows their immense bravery and adherence to Guru Sahib's spirit of never turning ones back on the battle field. What type of Singh with as much Bhagti as Sant Jee would cower in hiding whilst so much paap has been committed since '84. Below is one account from Sant Jee's life. By Dalbeer Singh in "NayRayo(n) Dithay Sant Bhindranvale" Dalbeer Singh Journalist was a close friend of Baba Jarnail Singh It was a Sunday in May 1984. I arrived at Harmandar Sahib at 9 AM, and noticed an odd sadness everywhere. I came to the Parkarma and saw about 25 young men in yellow dastaars with kamarkasas marching. In the room underneath the stairs of Guru Ram Das langar, Sant jee's companions used to plan out strategy and have meetings. All outsiders used to enquire here first. I arrived there and asked Bhai Amreek Singh about the 25 men marching in the Parkarma. He answered "These Singhs are from Hazoor Sahib. They told the Kar Seva Babas that until the existing gurdvaras are secured and protected, there is no need to build new gurdvaras." Today I think that these young men had arrived from all over after receiving training, all according to Sant jee's strategy. Their march was to give warning to the government. Bhai Amreek Singh said that in a little while the Jatha (Jatha Bhindran) would be having an important meeting on the roof of Sree Akaal Takhat Sahib. "Sant jee has asked that you (Dalbeer Singh) should certainly come to this meeting." I said that "I am neither a member of the Jatha, nor even amritdhaaree, how can I go to this meeting?" Bhai Sahib asked Sant jee on the intercom and said Sant jee wanted to speak to me in person. After answering my Fateh, he forcefully said "Gurmukha, you must come to the meeting." Answering my concerns, he said "I'm the head of the Jatha, and it is my decision to make about who can attend the meeting and who cannot". At around 10 AM, I, Bhai Amreek Singh and others went to the highest roof of Sree Akaal Takhat Sahib where the meeting was to take place. Because there were too many Singhs and not enough room, they had made an "L" shape around the dome. Tyaar-bar-tyaar Singhs with yellow dastaars, yellow kamarkassas and knee length cholas and kachheras, with their weapons facing sky-ward were giving an amazing sight. This sight can be seen in paintings of puraatan times. I took a place in the corner facing Harmandar Sahib. Sant jee came and stood in a corner. He could see all the Singhs form this spot. In his pure Punjabi, Sant jee said "Singho, I have called your meeting because the situation is very serious. A Jatha has come from Sree Hazoor Sahib and you should arrange weapons for them. Whoever amongst you have two weapons, should return one. You may choose which weapon you want to keep, because later on, there will be no changes. After this, Sant jee's assistant Bhai Rachhpal Singh took his small diary and began to take an account of the 100 Singhs' weapons. This took about half an hour. Then Sant jee resumed his speech. He said "Singho, the government will according to its strategy surrounded us with 100 000 soldiers. It is possible that jets and helicopters could be used and parachute soldiers could be dropped onto the parkarma. But until then, you will not fire any weapons, until the soldiers fire. Let the government fire first. Until the soldiers jump from the planes, do not fire. But when they do, not one parachutist should land alive. Don't waste ammunition and you should take one life with each bullet at least. If the enemy comes very close, distribute the Ladoos (hand grenades). This will be a very terrifying incident but taking the support of Guru Ram Das jee's feet, we will pass this test. " Sant jee said some other things and then finished his speech. He stopped for a while and then according to his habit, he took his lower lip into the left side of his mouth and began to think of something. He would do this when he was double-minded about something. After a minute or two of silence he spoke in very drawn out voice "Singho, I have to speak to you about another issue as well." He looked towards me and said "Bhaeeyaa, should I do it?" I understood what was in his heart and said he should do it. In a very serious mood, Sant jee said "Singho, that which is going to happen will be very shocking and we should go according to the will of Akaal Purakh. I can't say that at that time what the status on my life will be. If at that time I have breaths, I will tell the name of the next head of the Jatha, if this is not what pleases Akaal Purakh, then the next head should be chosen by consensus. My body should be cremated at Gurduara Gurdarshan Parkaash Mehta, on the street in front of the gate. Taking his right elbow onto his left palm, he said "Put a Nishaan Saahib of about this size there. Don't make any memorial. I want my cremation on the road so that the Sangat can continue to pass over my pyre and I'll get the touch of their feet." Everyone's eyes were teary after hearing Sant jee's words. In his clear voice he said, "Don't lose heart. Remain steadfast. The time has come when the Dharam cannot be protected without giving our heads." After this, all the Singhs quietly went to their own resting spots. When walking, Sant jee put his hand on my shoulder and said "Brother, keep your duty of friendship to the end [yaaree nibhaaee(n)]" After this, Blue Star happened and it remained a very big weight on my mind that who should I talk to about all this? After a lot of thought I shared this with the late Sd. Jagjeet Singh, the respected scholar of GurbaaNee and Sikh principles and the author of the book "Sikh Revolution". I asked why the Sant had called me into that meeting. He said very softly to me, "Dalbeer Singh, the reason is quite simple. The Sant had given a spoken final testament and without writing it down, he made you a witness to it."

  35. Although I agree with the notion that we need to spread our faith. We aren't exactly in a golden period, I'd go as far to say that we're actually in the worst phase. Although our lives have become easier, the practice of Sikhi has been tarnished. I have met very few Sikhs that practice the Sikhi of Guru Nanak, and even I'm not one of them. Most Sikhs don't exactly know what they're doing. We need reform in Sikhi first of all. It has been littered with practices that have no place in the religion. You have Sikhs priding on caste. You have Sikhs performing all kind of stupid rituals and superstitions. You have Sikhs indulging in drugs/intoxicants and philandering. You have Sikhs that are following false idols and babas that blind them. You have Sikhs that are working against the panth. We need reform, before we can go ahead and spread our faith. Because what's the point of building towards the sky, if the very foundation at the bottom is weak.
