  1. Wheguru Je Khalsa Wheguru Je Ke Fateh We all love to remember our Shaeeds and Kharkus, one way is with threads on forums, and we are overdue one here. I am very interested in the life style and movements of Kharkus and their Jathebandhis, so here's a few questions for the sangat, and may be we can find some answers between us. 1} Were Kharku Jathebandis regionalised ? Was one Jathebandie more prominent than others in areas. For example did KLF have more members in one area and KCF in an other. 2} Were some Jathebandies more religious than others ? Babbar Khalsa comes to mind as look like nearly all Gur- Sikhs others have non Gur-Sikhs 3} Crossing the borders of India. Its common knowledge there was training and weapons supplied by a neighbouring Country. I would Imagine the punjab (ind) Punjab (pak) would have been red hot in these times and very difficult to cross. I have read areas that the Rajistan border was used to enter Pakistan. But how did they do it with no maps. no GPS, no mobiles. I doubt there were road signs like there are now. 4} Monar in the Movement. Bhai Harjinder Singh Para , Harjinder Singh Jinda , deepa heran wala come to mind were there any more ? 5}How did they get around Punajb , ?there were easy to spot did they have vehicles, Toofan Singh movie shows them travailing on foot and stopping at the first shelter place they could find . I do know they would go to houses in pinds to eat. 6} Communication ? How did they get messages to each other as no mobiles then . 7} What does the word Kharku actually mean ?

  2. So Sant Ji were all liars in your book. That's what they did according to you. So what you're doing is calling the Santhiya and Gyan of Guru Gobind Singh Ji as being dishonest? I'm still waiting for you to provide me with the Carbon dated texts dating back to the age of Satyug.

  3. Very! No read/ write Punjabi means Guru Granth Sahib cannot be understood. Guru Granth Sahib can ONLY and ONLY be read shudh if it in Punjabi. And if one has the ability to understand Punjabi then when listening to Gurbani it can b easily understood, if not all of it. To understand all of it one must take the farther step of listening to Guru Granth Sahib katha or read teekakars of Gurbani.

  5. I've had the same opinion for many years. I remember having a debate with Ravi Singh on Sikhnet over 16 years when Khalsa Aid was collecting money for the Gujarat earthquake. I asked him why he wasn't doing anything for Punjab and those Sikh farmers committing suicide (yes, the issue does go far that back) there who needed help. His view was that Khalsa Aid needed to gain a 'reputation' by helping in other causes first and then start projects for Punjab. I thought that was a BS excuse then and seeing how they have only done some minor work in Punjab while the vast majority of funds goes towards non-Sikhs shows that was just an excuse. His other argument was that they were only involved in humanitarian and disaster relief so they could not help the Sikh farmers! It's an unfortunate fact but Sikh organisations such as Khalsa Aid and United Sikhs are mainly only interested in rushing to help non-Sikhs while pushing the needy Sikhs to the side. Only organisation that I see which is involved in Sikh causes is Sikh Relief. They should be the ones that we should be giving donations to and not Khalsa Aid.

  6. bhen ji I think you should actually approach Guru ji to get the akkar/letter of your name and select a name according to gurmat NOT numerology because that has a big Zero to do with Guru ji's path. These convoluted 'yogic' namings often seem clumsy and overworked sikh names are normally simpler just one apart from Singh/Kaur

  7. Well, if you can learn Urdu, you should be able to easily learn Gurmukhi. The reason is that Urdu is a square peg fitted into a round hole. I.e., the Urdu (Arabic) alphabet was created for Arabic, not Punjabi. By contrast, Gurmukhi was specially created for Punjabi, and it includes vowel marks, too. For the most part (once you learn some simple rules), you speak words as they are written.

  9. So you're going to sit there, a first grader and try to argue with those who have a PhD? You have no knowledge of the scriptures or any Brahmgyani yet you're challenging the words of an institute that was started and taught by Guru Gobind SIngh Ji. That alone is arrogance and insulting the 10th Master. Where have I demeaned them? I stated what's written in Gurbani, Which says their egotistical, which also says they're lost in Maya. Is that Gurbani wrong then? Read Dasam Granth you cretin or even Chaubis Avatar, the first 37 stanzas SAY DIRECTLY that the incarnations are all lost in Maya and got lost in Maya. Guru Sahib refers to Krishna as an insect, oh look guys, I guess now Guru Sahib is demeaning them. He even penned an entire bani (Shabad Hazare Patashe 10) all of which criticises the Devtas and their incarnations. I've stated what's written in Gurbani, If that's demeaning them then go and argue with Guru Sahib as he's the one who penned it. Siv siv karṯe jo nar ḏẖi▫āvai. That man who chants "Shiva, Shiva", and meditates on him, Baraḏ cẖadẖe da▫urū dẖamkāvai. ||2|| is riding on a bull, shaking a tambourine. ||2|| All of them renounced the Devta, that's why their bani is within Guru Sahib. Read the works of Bhai Gurdas Ji as he states they followed the One Primal lord and not egotistical devtas. He NEVER equates them, He says Guru Nanak Dev Ji is the greatest. You tried this argument with when you stupidily claimed that Guru Gobind Singh Ji worshiped Devi. The Avatars of Vishnu came and did their deeds, but it was God acting through them. Just like it was God acting through various people in ending world war 3 God acting through various people in doing just about everything in the world. Kal yug is an age, not a demon. Stop pulling out nonsense from everywhere. There''s only been 2 instances where Kalyug has personified himself, and Ravan isn't one of them. Shiva's own foolishness resulted in his ego granting Ravan his boons, who wasn't even truly evil btw. He was actually a rather pious person. Guru Granth Sahib Ji isn't a book, that alone shows you're not a Sikh. No Sikh would call it a book, The Gurbani that came was here to COUNTER Kalyug not because he asked for it. Gurbani hurts him. Waheguru came down because Kalyug was too powerful, not because he begged for it. Shiva, an Akali? Guru Sahib calls those who worship Shiva as being donkeys who kick up the dust. Why are you purposely going against the words of Mahapurkhs and Scholars and Gurbani. I've posted quotes upon quotes and sources. You have none. In all honesty, all you've done is shown people you're nothing more than a liar who's insulted Guru Granth Sahib JI, insulted Guru Gobind Singh Ji, insulted Sant Jarnail Singh Ji, insulted Bhai Sahib bhai Randhir Singh Ji, insulted Sant Gurbachan Singh Ji and insulted multiple other Bhagats in Gurbani by comparing them to fallible beings like the Devtas. You're free to go and beg Shiva to save you, to love you and make you his slave. No one will stop you, but everyone here will happily follow Guru Sahib to the dot. Ok I'm done now. We have someone here claiming that Kalyug is a good person who did Bhagti but that Bhagti didn't do anything for him and he begged for Gurbani. Ok then.

  10. I feel the same. We need to set our own house in order before helping others. Dont want to belittle Ravi singhs great work, but if only we could put our resources for helping the weaker sections of the panth first before spreading out. Jewish community is a great example of using community resources for nation and state building.

  13. Following are some Sat Bachans from the Bani of Dhan Dhan Satguru Sree Guru Nanak Dev Maharaj , to settle for once and all, the issue of that the trinty gods are not at all neither gurus as per the title of this thread, nor are any sargun forms of Wahiguru Akal Purukh. jaa this bhaanaa thaa jagath oupaaeiaa | When He so willed, He created the world. baajh kalaa aaddaan rehaaeiaa | Without any supporting power, He sustained the universe. brehamaa bisan mehaes oupaaeae maaeiaa mohu vadhaaeidhaa |14| He created Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva; He fostered enticement and attachment to Maya. ||14|| In this verse above Guru Jee is clearly saying, that, He the Supreme Lord when He so willed, He created Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. And not that He manifested Himself through these sargun forms. This also menas, He existed before all these gods, and exists separately from them, just as apart from all of us also, unless we do His bhakti, then we merge in Him, and become one with Him. This His bhakti, is the very unique feature of Wahiguru Akal Purukh, that whosoever performs it, He makes that jeeva one with Him. While with the gods, devtays, godesses, one reaches their dimension to reap the fruits of one´s devotion to them, but then, one returns back into the wheel of 84 sooner or later, just as these gods are the so called children of mother Maya and father Kal Purukh, the caretakers of the mayavee creation. As stated in a previous example, Ravan was the biggest devotee of Shiva, but even then, he could not rid himself from the panj chor(he was kaamee, krodhi, lobhee, mohee and ahankaree), thus he died as per his hard earned merits of his wickedness/evilness. Had he done even 1%, the bhakti of Wahiguru with the intensity he did of Shiva, it would have been more than suffice for him, to merge in Wahiguru. Why so ? Because one does not merge in Him by one´s efforts, but by His kirpa alone. No god, no devtay has the power to unite any jeeva with them and make them one with them, because they are not the ultimate truth, but rather regarding Wahiguru, the Bani tells us: ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਾਸਿ Jeeo pind sabh teree raas, This body and soul are all your belonging, all the jeev atmas belong to Him. Among all the divine entities, He is the Highest : ਊਚੇ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥ Oochay Tey Oochaa Bhagavant || the highest of the high, most generous God, then also nobody knows about His infinity Koe Na Jaanay Tumraa Unt || No-one knows your infinite vastness. He alone knows Himself and his grandeur Tumaree Gath Mith Tum Hee Jaanee || You alone know your existence and vastness . And it is to this very highest Being, should one offer one´s devotion Nanak Daas Sadhaa Kurbaanee ||8||4|| Nanak, Your slave, is forever surrendering to you. ||8||4|| Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Guru Arjan, Sukhmani, Raag Gauri, Ang 268 Sat Sree Akal.

  15. Gurbani is never inconsistent, Mahapurkhs aren't inconsistent. What a load of tosh, who on earth are you to call them liars? You can't even begin to fathom their knowledge, yet you claim to know more. Gurbani is never inconsistent on anything, it's already stated that Shiva is egotistical, Vishnu is egotistical and Brahma is egotistical. How dare you call Gurbani a lie and then claim to be a Sikh. His Sargun form was Guru Nanak Dev Ji, it was never Shiva or Vishnu. They're part of his creation, a far far smaller aspect of him, in the same category as us. No the definition will change depending on the context. That's the teaching of the Guru, the same people who are now carrying that tradition you are calling Liars. Words have always changed depending on the context that's how Gurbani was written, that's how it always has been taught. The arths spoken by Sant Ji were passed down by Guru Gobind SIngh Ji Maharaj, to insult them is to insult Maharaj himself. So I'll ask you once again, last time, yes or no answer please. Are all the Sants and Mahapurkhs wrong when they define the words? Do you think you know better? Are they all liars?

  16. And Who gave him that Name, wait for it...it was humans....after he asserted he was God. All names are traced back to God, not the other way around. Anyone with half a brain can see that. No pracharik has done that, That's the Sanithya taught by Guru Gobind Singh Ji that the Taksal is teaching, that every Brahmgyani teaches. According to you all of them are wrong. What a creature you are. Are they all liars in your book? No it's not. History is what's written by humans, not the History Guru Sahib taught. If you want to argue history then lets do so. The Vedas themselves are constantly changed, infact the ones written now are completely different from when they were first prescribed. So please find the texts that existed during Satyug because the tradition was always oral and the oldest ones are traced back to a couple of hundred years BC. Again with this stale and stupid argument. The only way it has infinite meaning is if you look at it from the glass of Gurmat. Which you cant since you've never even read Gurbani clearly. The fact that Chaupai Sahib calls people who consider Shiva as lord as being "High fools" is evidence of that. An atheist can play around with Gurbani to mean that its nothing more than metaphors for knowledge and that God isn't real. I guess they're right too. I'm the one changing it? this is the Santhiya and arths taught by Guru Gobind Singh Ji to the taksal, these are the arths given by Brahmgyanis. None of it is my own interpretation. So are they all liars? So Sant Gurbachan Singh Ji is dishonest? So Sant Jarnail Singh JI is dishonest as well? So every Mahapurkh who stated the facts such as Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh Ji are they all dishonest? all you've done here is show you're nothing more than a cretin who's lying through his teeth. The fact of the matter is your Lord Shiva is nothing more than a beggar at the Doors of the Mahapurkhs as he's lost in Maya like everyone else. Vishnu is the same and Brahma is the same. Fact. Written and penned by the 10th Master. I've shown you the Gurbani, I've shown you Katha by Mahapurkhs. So i'll ask you a direct question, are they all liars?

  19. What I find intriguing is the rapid shift in Da'wah strategy being employed by Muslims. In my experience whereas before they were attempting to exonerate Islam from the accusations being hurled at it, they are now attempting to contend that all faiths have a similar strain of elitism (for a better want want of expression) as is found in Islam. I acquired the following from a social media group where a Muslim attempted to argue that akin to Kafir and Muslim, Sikhs have the Gurmukh-Manmukh disparity. 'Given the "grooming" phenomena which is prevalent in the Pakistani Community (though all communities have their fair share of devils) we are not surprised that in order to exonerate their faith, from the negative attention it continually receives, some Muslims feel justified in disseminating fallacious propaganda regarding other faiths. Below are some new absurdities which a Da'wah group has come up with in order to contend that equal to Islam's "Conformist-Infidel" dichotomy is Sikhi's "Gurmukh-Manmukh" principle. Is this verifiable in light of the "evidence" which they have provided? Or is there more to the latter than meets the eye? Let us scrutinize the matter closely. The central thesis of this absurd, and somewhat humorous, contention is that "Gurmukh" (Guru-oriented) evolved into a more narrow term after the first Nanak rendering non-Sikhs "Manmukhs" Ipso facto. Point 1: Cherry-Picking Shabads to substantiate their fallacies. Bhai Gurdas's Vaar 5, Pauri 7 (of 21) is quoted to the effect: "Without the Guru's Shabad and sadh-sangat even good persons find no liberation." On a Prima facie basis, Bhai Gurdas seems to be implying that a non-Sikh who is righteous is doomed to spiritual damnation because they are not a Sikh. The proselytizer desperately needs to do this in order to exonerate his/her faith and instead direct the stigma towards Sikhi. Let us, however, scrutinize the full vaar and comprehend it in it's proper context: "ਜਤ ਸਤ ਸੰਜਮ ਹੋਮ ਜਗ ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਦਾਨ ਪੁੰਨ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ। Hypocrisy by and large enters into the praxis of continence, burnt offerings, feasts, penances and gifts. ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਖੰਡ ਬਹੁ ਤੰਤ੍ਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕ ਅਗਲੇਰੇ। Incantations and spells ultimately turn out to be hypocritical plays. ਵੀਰਾਰਾਧਣ ਜੋਗਣੀ ਮੜ੍ਹੀ ਮਸਾਣ ਵਿਡਾਣ ਘਨੇਰੇ। The worship of the fifty-two heroes, of the eight yoginis of cemeteries and of places of cremation leads to whopping dissimulation. ਪੂਰਕ ਕੁੰਭਕ ਰੇਚਕਾ ਨਿਵਲੀ ਕਰਮ ਭੁਇਅੰਗਮ ਘੇਰੇ। People are obsessed with the pranayam exercises of the inhalation, suspension of breath, the exhalation, the niolr feat and straightening of kundalini the serpent power. ਸਿਧਾਸਣ ਪਰਚੇ ਘਣੇ ਹਠ ਨਿਗ੍ਰਹ ਕਉਤਕ ਲਖ ਹੇਰੇ। Many employ themselves in sitting in the siddhasanas and thus we have seen them seeking myriad miracles. ਪਾਰਸ ਮਣੀ ਰਸਾਇਣਾ ਕਰਾਮਾਤ ਕਾਲਖ ਆਨ੍ਹੇਰੇ। The belief in the philospher's stone, the jewel in the serpent's head and the miracle of life immortalising elixir are nothing but the darkness of ignorance. ਪੂਜਾ ਵਰਤ ਉਪਾਰਣੇ ਵਰ ਸਰਾਪ ਸਿਵ ਸਕਤਿ ਲਵੇਰੇ। People are engaged in the worship of idols of gods and goddesses, in fasting, uttering and giving blessings and curses. ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦ ਵਿਣੁ ਥਾਉ ਨ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਭਲੇ ਭਲੇਰੇ। But without the holy congregation of the saints and the recitation of the Guru- sabad even the very good person cannot find acceptance. ਕੂੜ ਇਕ ਗੰਢੀ ਸਉ ਫੇਰੇ ॥੭॥ The superstitions bind themselves with a hundred knots of falsehood." -(Vaaran Bhai Gurdas, Vaar 5, Pauri 7/21). In light of the above it emerges that the Bhai is not downplaying the concept of righteous non-Sikhs. Rather, he is satirizing society's perception of a "good person." Performing ostentatious acts of worship and charity are futile if one, clandestinely, engages in vice over and over again. If one is impure from within ('Jeoh Maile Baroh Nirmal-' Anand Sahib), outward purity is rendered hollow in the Divine Court. The Bhai's derision of such "good people" is made evident at the end when he declares (all thanks to the Da'wah crew for providing such an acute translation): "Without the Guru's Shabad and sadh-sangat even good persons find no liberation..." Is this in any way different from what Guru Nanak declares in his Bani? "Make compassion thy cotton, contentment thy thread, modesty thy knot and truth the twist. This is the sacred thread of the soul; if one be in your possession then put it around me. It breaketh not, filth soils it not, fire burns it not, it is not misplaced." -(Asa Ki Vaar, SGGS, Ang. 471). By attempting to play on limited knowledge, the proselytizer desires to twist the Guru's word and substitute it with their own falsehoods. Point 2: Distortion of Gurbani and Sikh history. In an attempt to "evidence" that the first Nanak's teachings were different from his successors' the proselytizer asserts that as time progressed, "Gurmukh" became a more narrower term for each successive generation of Sikhs. Let us divide this section into sub-sections for ease of comprehension. A.) It is asserted that Guru Nanak Dev Ji never emphasized upon the need for obtaining a Guru, vis-a-vis liberation, and later Gurus construed this principle in order to establish the equivalent of "Kafir-non Kafir." Unfortunately for the proselytizer: "Without the Guru, how can anyone swim across to obtain peace?" -(Guru Nanak Dev Ji, SGGS, Ang. 20). B.) It is asserted that Guru Amar Dass Ji shut off liberation to non-Sikhs by declaring: "Without the true Guru, there is no Guru at all; one who is Guru-less has a bad reputation." (SGGS, Ang. 435). Who is this true Guru? The aforementioned Guru, himself, informs us: "Seek and find such a true Guru, who shall lead you to the true Lord." -(SGGS, Ang. 30). Furthermore: "Oh Nanak, the one light has dual forms; through the Shabad union is obtained." -(Ibid). The true Guru is Shabad, the ageless spiritual wisdom. One is left wondering as to how these proselytizers function. It should be clear by even a cursory glance at Sikh history that the third Guru played a pivotal role in collating the words of non-Sikhs and preparing the ground for their inclusion in the Sikh canon. If he truly regarded them as "manmukhs," why would he desire to have their words collated in a "Gurmukh," going by the proselytizer's logic, scripture? The theological implication here is clear, conversion is not the sole aim of Sikh liberation. Non-Sikhs can reside in their faiths and if possible locate spiritually enlightened souls who can lead them to the "true Lord." The true Guru is one who manifests the spiritual truths of Bani, which pre-date Sikhi itself, in their life and we acknowledge that non-Sikhs too can do this. The inclusion of Bhagat Bani and Bhatt Bani should be evidence enough of this. C.) Guru Ram Dass Ji continued the tradition of constraining "Gurmukh." The Shabad which apparently substantiates this claim is the following: "Oh Nanak, in the shops of the city of the human body, the Gurmukhs buy the merchandise of the Lord's name." -(SGGS, Ang. 95). How this implies that only Sikhs can be Gurmukhs eludes any sane individual. But maybe the proselytizers possess a different mental build? The concept of "true Guru" and "Sadh-Sangat' are also found in the words of the 15 Bhagats who pre-date Sikhi. We provide an example from the works of Kabir (quoted in the SGGS): "Without the Sadh-Sangat, the company of the Holy, without vibrating and meditating on the Lord God, one does not reside in the truth..." and, "Sayeth Kabir, to cross over the terrifying world ocean, I have taken to the shelter of the true Guru..." -(SGGS, Ang. 336). Guru Nanak Dev Ji was not even born when Kabir wrote these verses so how can Kabir, then, be referring to the "exclusivity" which the proselytizer claims is inherent in Sikhi? The ninth Guru informs us: "Renounce thy hubris and attachment to Maya; focus your consciousness on the Lord's meditation. Sayeth Nanak, this be the path to liberation. Become Gurmukh and attain it." -(SGGS, Ang. 219). There is nothing exclusive to Sikhi in this verse. All spiritual traditions emphasize upon renouncing hubris and false attachment. In light of the latter, then, a question emerges. If "Gurmukh" evolved into a more constrictive term with passage of time, then why did the ninth Nanak possess such an open definition of the term? We advice all Da'wah crews, targeting Sikhs, to try harder next time and maybe they will get somewhere. Fortunately for them, though, as Sikhs we can concur with them on one point: "Truth being made clear from falsehood." By their falsehoods, the truth of Sikhi emerges ever stronger and ever shining.'

  26. And shouldn't you ponder the gurbani? Why shouldn't you question it? Why not be critical? When we write essays or analyses in English or whatever we are always critical we are analytical. How is learning done? People criticize Sri Krishna all the time, you criticize him Vishnu Shiva Brahma Devi all the time, but you do not just criticize them you demean, degrade and lower them as lesser beings while some see them as the very form if God as you do Guru Nanak. What is wrong with criticism? Sure to criticize and question is one thing. But to demean someone's belief is another. There are so many Hindu and Brahmin poets in guru grant sahib, all the bhats are high caste brahmin, swami parm anand, guru of bhagat Kabir, dhanna Jatt, Ravi das, sain nai was also Brahmin. How can you tell me for sure that these bhagats denounced Vishnu and did not hold Guru Nanak or Vishnu at the same level?????? There is even a quote in bani where Bhat Kal equates guru nanak with Vishnu. What are you going to do about that?
