  1. Why are you hijacking this thread to divert it onto another irrelevant topic? Address me in that topic if you have concerns not this one. You beginning to sound like the same as the troll "SinghOne" and his many alias........ are you him? And btw that's not attacking SGGS Ji that's just saying my personal view point which is that SGGS Ji is not Waheguru. I gave you my explanations and reasoned logic behind my views. If you cant differentiate between an attack and a difference of view point then you really need help. If you continue to divert the topic to another personal attack and dig at me like a troll would do, I would let Mods take care of you as your intentions are clear your not here to discuss the topic at hand your here to make mischief with members.

  2. Attacking Sikhi, what you on about? If you haven't got anything relevant to say about the topic I would suggest you do not contribute with useless trolling responses.

  3. Let him, or anyone for that matter say whatever they wish about Sikhs. What truly matters is what we, as Sikhs, believe in. Do we truly believe that we are a sect of Hinduism, who uphold the caste system, do pointless rituals such as pilgrimages/fasts/idolatry, or do we believe none of that and follow only what's written in the GGS, and go about living life according to it? Because there are many so-called Sikhs that adhere to the caste system and conduct those mentioned pointless rituals, you can't help but see that our own people are agreeing indirectly through their actions to what Rajiv Malhotra is saying. However, if you are the latter type, then you should not be hazed by comments coming from such insignificant people and should stay firm in your way of life. The Hindus name-call us a sect, because they see us doing exactly what they do. Until our Sikhs don't follow the guidance of the GGS, such people will always exist. It is not their fault, it is ours. Let's not give them a chance to call us out on practicing their pointless rituals/caste-ism. When most of the Sikh population itself believes that Sikhs are very much a part of Hinduism, then why does it matter if an outsider says so. We need to change ourselves first, in order to change others.

  5. Funny how we are a Sect of Hindus when it suits them and then we are massacred we are not. Have you seen any other sect of hindus treated like this. I don't see Sai Baba devotees given this treatment or Vaishnavites or Shaivites for that matter.

  7. I was watching some videos on youtube the other day and came across this old hindu guy called Rajiv Malhotra he seems to be influencing the younger Indian generation towards hindu nationalism. Evil Sakshi Bhardwaj the anti-sikh infamous hindu extremist who recently made highly offensive videos against Sikhs and Sikhi is a follower and admirer of this guy. https://twitter.com/RajivMessage/status/5808820218718

  9. Mankamal Singh 31 August at 12:27 WHY HOMELESSNESS IS IMPORTANT FOR THE ILFORD SIKH COMMUNITY. Some of you may remember that in 2011 a few of us started a cold winter shelter for the rough sleepers in Ilford. The shelter was run in the gym of Gurdwara Singh Sabha Seven Kings. This was done in response to the growing number of Punjabi men who were sleeping on the streets in Ilford. As volunteers, we would run an overnight shelter from 9pm to 7am, where up to 30 men used to sleep during the freezing cold months of November to February. We were able to carry out this seva for 2 consecutive years with the support of the Gurdwara commitee and volunteers from Seven Kings Gurdwara Gym. The Gurdwara shelter started when one of us was approached by a volunteer from the Salvation Army who requested turban material as one of the homeless men at their shelter was a Sikh in need of a new turban. When we visited the Salvation Army cold winter shelter to provide the turban, we were shocked to see that the majority of the sleepers were Sikh Punjabi men. This triggered the Gurdwara cold winter shelter project which ran during the winters of 2011/2012 and 2012/2013. Unfortunately, due to the lack of support from Gurdwara sangat and issues of security, we were unable to carry on with this Seva at the Gurdwara. In the 2 winters that we ran the shelter, we developed a relationship with our brothers who used to sleep at the Gurdwara. Whilst many were Sikh, we also had some Muslims, White English, African and Eastern Europeans. It's worth knowing that there were many different reasons for their situation and why they ended up sleeping on the street. Many had developed addictions which made their circumstances more complex. Some were suffering from mental illness. In short, as sevadars/volunteers at the Gurdwara, we were unfortunately inexperienced in many of these matters. Some of the rough sleepers moved on and were able get their lives back in order, we helped a few go back to Punjab, one back to Congo and a family back to Mauritius. We helped some get housing and even managed to get casual work for those who were eligible. It is fair to say that the stability of the Gurdwara shelter over the winter months helped individuals make the right decisions to help them back on their feet. As we could no longer run the shelter in the Gurdwara, we supported the Salvation Army as best as we could who have successfully been running a winter shelter since 2011. However, here we are in 2017 and Ilford still has around 60 homeless rough sleepers, 42 of them have No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF). Of those 42, the majority of them are Sikh Punjabi males who have unofficially entered the UK a few years ago and are now destitute, unable to work, find accommodation or return back to Punjab. Many of us recognise who they are as they have been sleeping rough for many years and congregate in Ilford Town Centre. They do have drink problems and some are chronic alcoholics. Whatever the issues, they are Punjabi, they identify themselves as Sikh and they look for help from their own community. Sikhs have a wonderful global reputation for helping the homeless through langar and food. It's now time to really think about how we can help the homeless get out of the situation. The Salvation Army have managed to acquire a site with the support of Redbridge Council and are building a hostel and training workshops (PROJECT MALACHI) in Ilford to support NRPF rough sleepers. As a local Sikhs, we have also been supporting the funding of this hostel/workshop and also with the running of the project. We have managed to collect some funds from our family and friends. We are still in need to collect more. I have sent many messages to you and posted a few times on Facebook about Project Malachi. It's great to receive likes, but the reality is the project needs your goodwill. Below is a link to the launch event which took place a few weeks ago, you can find out more about the project. If anyone is serious about supporting with either donations or wish to volunteer time once the hostel is up and running, please message me directly. I have given a backdrop to why me and my brother are involved in this project, those who know us will hopefully relate to that and take our involvement as an endorsement. I know the nature and content of this post means many people will not really be interested in reading it to the end, thank you if you did. https://www.facebook.com/Thesikhnetwork/posts/1573341372722088

  11. He is right about laying alot of the blame to the door of the British who left India in a mess and stolen all its resources and manpower only for UK's economic benefit. However his response for religious minorities like us Sikhs wanting our own political autonomy or independence in the form of Khalistan is to say its only backed by pakistan or by the British in order to cause problems for Hindu India is wholly wrong. When the fact of the matter is Sikhs are a distinct religious group, who had their own sovereign kingdoms and an empire. And who are not safe or truly free in hindu dominated India where our concerns are not heard or taken seriously and enacted upon. We also faced genocides and destruction to our places of worship under Hindu majority rule without justice or readdress of our grievances so it is legitimate for our community to have our own nation to safeguard our needs without Hindu / Indian nationalists like Rajiv and others complain that its all external entities (Pakistan or the UK/west) that are funding or propagating Sikh nationalism and separatism.

  12. Haridas ultimate truth or Sat is "Naam". Being honest is great but top virtue as per Gurbani is Naam Simran. Below is a Shabad that will bring clarity ਕਾਲੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਜੋਗੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਤ ਕਾ ਢਬੁ ॥ No, no, this is not the time, when people know the way to Yoga and Truth. ਥਾਨਸਟ ਜਗ ਭਰਿਸਟ ਹੋਏ ਡੂਬਤਾ ਇਵ ਜਗੁ ॥੧॥ The holy places of worship in the world are polluted, and so the world is drowning. ||1|| ਕਲ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਰੁ ॥ In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Lord's Name is the most sublime. ਅਖੀ ਤ ਮੀਟਹਿ ਨਾਕ ਪਕੜਹਿ ਠਗਣ ਕਉ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ Some people try to deceive the world by closing their eyes and holding their nostrils closed. ||1||Pause|| https://gurbaninow.com/shabad/2531/28682

  14. Master Tara Singh did what he knew was best for the Sikh Kaum at that time. In 1946, a whole year before partition, The Muslim League began attacking Sikhs in Multan, Chakwal, Lahore, and Rawalpindi areas to purge the region of all Sikhs and Hindus, changing the demographic landscape, to minimize or destroy any chance of those areas becoming part of India. Secondly, The Muslims wanted to take Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur etc along with half of Malwa with them. They began cleansing Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Lyalpur purely so that those districts could go to Pakistan. Our forefathers eventually got sick of this and retaliated fiercely. This was all for the sake of our survival as a Kaum. Master Tara Singh did what was best for us that that time. Hindus and Muslims both wouldn't have allowed for an independent Sikh Homeland to form. It was best to side with the lesser threat of that time.

  15. Sikhi is a very simple and easy faith to follow if not taken rigidly and literally. Also when Sikhs start getting involved in useless rituals then we know they are going away from Sikhi and into the realms of what Guru Nanak Ji preached against in gurbani. These days alot of Hindunised Sikhs who think they are part of sanatha dharma because of brainwashing from Hindutva groups. They should ask themselves what was the reason for Waheguru in creating Sikhi if Hinduism was fine as it was? Obviously there was a problem to begin with for our Hindu ancestors to break away from mainstream hindu movements and into a new spiritual path called Sikhi.

  19. I agree, however by exploration what I meant was to seek knowledge about possible life systems in other worlds. Gurbani, I think and I may be wrong, is for self-exploration, understanding how to live life and gaining spiritual knowledge. But Gurbani also encourages the pursuit of all knowledge, for we are Sikhs/students, and therefore space exploration is a great method to gain worldly knowledge. Although, worldly knowledge is second to spiritual knowledge, it is still required that we learn both. Therefore, I think both the recital of Gurbani and search of worldly knowledge (including in the form of space exploration) is important to us humans.

  20. Interesting, why is that? I am personally in favor of venturing out into the galaxies unknown. It's not only a testament to the progress of human technology, but also reflects the inquisitive nature of human. It is even mentioned in the GGS on multiple occasions that there are an endless number of worlds, so why not explore them and study all of creation. Of course, if you have the perspective that there are far more pressing issues to tackle on Earth, I can agree with that.

  22. No judegments A 24 year old boy seeing out from the train’s window shouted… “Dad, look the trees are going behind!” Dad smiled, and a young couple sitting nearby, looked at the 24 year old’s childish behavior with pity, suddenly he again exclaimed… “Dad, look the clouds are running with us!” The couple couldn’t resist and said to the old man… “Why don’t you take your son to a good doctor?” The old man smiled and said…“I did and we are just coming from the hospital, my son was blind from birth, he just got his eyes today.” Every single person on the planet has a story. Don’t judge people before you truly know them. The truth might surprise you.

  23. Thanks for your question. I have had this avatar when I first joined the forum and haven't changed it since. At the time I identified as being British Sikh which I still do. Even though there have been many atrocities by the British in history I don't let this get in the way of knowing that I was fortunate enough to attend a Sikh school in this country and completing my education at uni. I would like to contribute to the society around me and think Sikhi is the way to starvation in the world and provide justice to those who are abused or oppressed. In order to do this we need to be organised and a Khalsa Military Academy is a step in the right direction. Would you attend a Khalsa Military Academy Big Tera?

  24. if we get a group of us asking for the farsi (gurmat specific)course to be delivered again online format perhaps then they may be persuaded to run it again, I'm on the wait-list already: Firstly, thank you for your email and taking the time to write to us with interest and passion with regards to the Farsi language course. Secondly, humblest apologies that we have neglected to reply to you sooner. The course has been run for the second time now and at the present time, there are no further plans to repeat the course in it's current format. What we are exploring, however, is to offer some kind of learning opportunity in terms of Farsi language in the future but how that will look exactly is yet to be cemented. It is time to evolve the course in the interests of "continuos improvement" and to keep on striving for excellence.Being a small charity, we are also mindful of our resources and the number of projects that we can responsibly undertake at any given point in time. Currently, we have diverted our resources towards making available ithiaasic texts (translated into English) for purchase via our website. These include Gur Sobha whereby the translation was sponsored by Turiya. We have further such projects in the pipeline and it is our wish and aim to provide opportunity for the Panth to take control of their personal learning as Sikhs, rather than relying on unsubstantiated historic accounts from 3rd parties. We try to run the charity with great efficiency and none of the sevadaars are paid for their time (it is given freely as Dasvandh) and we endeavour to keep costs down to minimum. All sales proceeds from our online store are wholly diverted towards our current translation projects. We have recorded your contact details so that if and when we are ready to revisit the delivery of a Farsi language course, we can engage with you and other interested parties in order to ensure that you are given first refusal.Thank you for your understanding and supportMany Guru bless youT.
