  1. she only became scum because her folks did not take her need for sikhi and appropriate role models in the faith seriously . 16 years old are still naive kids and easily impressionable , it is our sanjha responsibility to be there for such young seekers

  2. The one thing that baffles me is how on earth did the Sikhs back in Punjab sign up to fight for the British during their campaigns in India after such a short period of time that had elapsed. Also why did they volunteer in masses to serve in the WW1 and WW2 to help the British again. The memories of annexation should still have been fresh in their minds. Also I find hard to digest this romanticised Anglo Sikh relationship of loyal Sikhs and a beautiful friendship nonsense that we are still fed today. Sometiing tells me the British still fear Sikhs to this day and view us as a threat as to why they still continue to stab us in the backs (1947, 1984 etc). Fast forward the events to the present day we are standing exactly where Duleep Singh and the Sikhs in Punjab were after the annexation. We are still facing the same struggle for independence. I think we really need to be more vocal about the British betrayal and stop sucking up to these cunning sweet faced devils. Going by our history can never and should not trust the British.

  3. from my experience Samras tend to be clueless about sikhi and do stuff just because it has always been done that way. The particular family I knew had 2 daughters and married the younger daughter to deor of older sis just because they couldn't be asked to look elsewhere.

  6. Read this extract from a letter by M. Jind Kaur. You can almost sense her desperation and pain at having her son taken away. It's sad. On another thread singhnihk was taking about the 'gentle victorians', but this is what they were really like. Be careful when you are reading history about the time, a lot of it is whitewashed. Some goray like to talk about how civilised the were at the time but when you read contemporary literature of the time (i.e. Dickens, who is a favourite of mine), you see that there was all manner of cruelty taking place on the poor here in London.

  7. Sartaj was the Duleep Singh for 2 hours. I had my reservations and felt it was wrong to portray such an important event in Sikh history with a well known celebrity as he would overshadow such an important figure in history. But believe me you forget who is actually playing the role. He also sings a song in the backdrop of the movie 'dardan wala desh' it cuts you in two. Don't worry about the slow pace as it's been done this way on purpose and you will understand this when you later reflect on the movie.

  8. I understand what you are saying. One should be present to get the laha of it, (benefit from it). I'll just give my own example, I know it's not the same thing as an Akhand Paat, must it maybe why others have them held long distance. For years I used to look at the picture of Harmandir Sahib on our living room wall, and used to yearn to go from the Sakhis and history of it. Although I'd been as a child, I do not remember much. I was unable to go due to physical problems, so I couldn't see myself ever going. Then one year we went but even though we visited Harmandir Sahib, I did not get to go into Darbar Sahib, due to some reasons that were beyond our control. And as we didn't have the time to wait, I would have missed my plane back and be stuck in India for a long time, I needed to get back home. So that upset me, but had to accept it as Waheguru's Hukam. Then I had another chance, but this time we went before catching a plane. And it was a wonderful visit. Before visiting, I used to feel a bit empty that I haven't had the chance to. Then afterwards, I felt at peace and my wish was fulfilled. It could be that people have desire to have an Akhand Paat there for whatever reason. Either somebody has told them to or they themselves want to. Harmandir Sahib is special to Sikhs. And not everybody has the chance to go, so they may have an Akhand Paat instead. That's just my guess though. Also reciting Gurbani ones self is not as easy for all. The pronunciation has to be right too and it takes time to learn and reach that level of reciting within sangat too. That's why as Singhbj paji has said, the Granthis are only doing their duty.

  9. It's better to learn tricks of trade before starting your own channel. Just don't make the same blunder as Bhai Jugraj Singh of debating & hurting sentiments of Muslims. If you do Shabad Vichaar, there are a number of verses which teach not to hurt feelings of any soul as Almighty resides inside all ! Even baad-vivaad is bibarjit. It is better to seek council of learned, subdue manmat so that one doesnot make unforgivable mistakes.

  10. Same old argument that has been proven to be wrong. I asked for an new argument based on Gurmat. Again, take your time and ask your seniors to help you with it. The Khalsa Panth is not a popularity contest. Yet this how so many of you view it. Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji never followed the world. Today the Sunday Sikhs are trying to change sikhi as the world changes. This is how desperate these guys are to fit in. Always feeling second class. Never confident in their skin. Always trying to show the western world how they are trying to be like them. They get a tan and these type are trying to cover it up. Gurbani makes a perso Grounded in Gurmat. Never scared to be a Sikh. Never acting a fool to fit in. Never bending over backwards to please the western world. Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji took the world out of darkness. Darkness took the form of higher and lower class when he came in human form. Today the world is in darkness but not because of the caste system. Today darkness has taken the form of liberal extremist. They have no clue what is Gurmat and they have completely erased the line between right and wrong. Gurbani is only their in English translations for them to beat their own chest. There is some sun out but these liberal extremist will due away with it. Full darkness will fall again but this time because of the liberal extremist. Again Vaheguru will send his fauj to eliminate the liberal extremist. It was ego when the caste system was created and its still ego destroying the world because of these liberal extremist. Let the cycle continue. Regarding your link. The Guru says teach, explain, and show the way to Gurmat. However don't become so nice that the Gurmat bankrupt people start oppressing you. When this happens there is only one way to defend the saints.

  15. True I've not come across a samra or sanghera girl thats had any real knowledge of sikhi but they do know how to bhangra they know how to sleep around, get drunk, smoke take drugs and indulge themselves in serious crime. Its a systemic problem with some families and these kinda families should fix up before they disgrace themselves any further. Most sikh and hindu families are not living in reality they are living in world where they will fight and die for material goods but not for their faith. Its a mindset that needs to change, ask any Sikh you meet what have they done to convert non-sikh to Sikhi or to promte sikhi and 99.9% will tell you they aint done jack because they too busy living their own selfish life in their own selfish existence until their daughter or sister runs off with a muslim terrorist or some other non-sikh degenerate then they start crying and wailing like a dog blaming everyone but themselves.

  18. we need to be proactive and EVERY gurdwara should have golak invested in learning materials , gym equipment/ weights, bowing gloves , guards, shasters such as bows and bolts/arrows , salotars and be actively training ALL kids in sikhi and being tough mentally and physically. we don't need carparks, banqueting halls or even larger diwan halls. Our ancestors had tiny dharamshaley and larger akhardey this is the proper weighting

  19. Way too much Tamo Gun being expressed on this site, no wonder why it only has a handful of hardcore posters now and the MODS are clearly super lax - good or bad depending on the age of visitors coming to learn about a Sikhi. How about STAMPING an 18+ sign or warning before logging in, just so they know what type of language might be used on the site. Possibly requires a separate post

  20. Also on instagram and other social media networks there is a determinated effort by dawah islamists to convert girls to their evil ideology. I see how impressionable girls are being lured by islamists with various tricks of trying to make islam look sugar coated yet their own faith is neglected because they are not being presented with peer pressure to conform to sikhi as muslims do to their friends and family.

  21. understood bro but the opportunities in the west have to be found or made from other ustads/disciplines who may not be sikh .e.g.. archery clubs, martial arts like escrima . Until we make every gurdwara a learning gym this will remain the barrier to wider shaster vidhiya in the sangat

  24. These articles are interesting. Sartaj says in an interview at Vancouver, that the British had distorted some parts of the history. One thing I don't understand is why none of the singers aren't supporting this movie or Satinder Sartaj? Is it jealousy? Is it because it's a Hollywood production and not Bollywood or Pollywood? Even at the Birmingham premiere, of what they showed on tv, there doesn't seem to be any artists or well known celebrities at it. But I only saw clips of it, not the full programme, so may have missed it. But I'm puzzled as to why the singers don't have it promoting on their fb pages, when normally they do promote others. Kavi Raz seems a good writer, and I would have thought they would have mentioned it for him. "Sofia Duleep Singh, the Maharaja’s daughter is famous for her part in the suffragette movement in England. Kavi says that he wants to make a film on her as well." "Currently, Kavi is working on another period film, based on Indian independence, “which is a sort of a follow up on The Black Prince." Another article from Hindustantimes, it seems to be promoting it in a positive way, rather than the previous negative one. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/m.hindustantimes.com/entertainment/the-black-prince-is-fascinating-complex-and-tragic-says-director-kavi-raz/story-f01TcLESwcOyfSLpY9t27H_amp.html

  25. After hearing of the death of Maharani Jind Kaur, novelist Charles Dickens visited Kensal Green Cemetery to see the coffin of the lady whom the British Empire feared. Read his account of the visit from old publications... In July 1863, writer and author Charles Dickens visited Kensal Green cemetery. A couple of weeks later he heard that Maharani Jind Kaur died at Abingdon House and her service and temporary burial in the catacoomb of Kensal Green Dissenter's Chapel was arranged by her son Maharajah Duleep SIngh. On the 19th September 1863, Charles Dickens wrote the following two remarks in his weekly journal "All the Year Round": "I have read in the papers of the Indian Princess brought here the other day, and whose remains some of her Sikh servants wished to have burnt. The coffin was placed in the Dissenters' catacomb, and though a speech was delivered on the virtues of the deceased, the burial is described in the company's registery book by the words "no ceremony". It was a large funeral with many carriages." Later in the article Dickens writes: I asked to be taken to the Dissenters' catacomb, that I may see for myself the last resting place of the poor woman whose ashes have been squabbled over, and written on by Sikh and Christian. And down here, in a coffin covered with white velvet, and studded with brass and nails, rests the Indian dancing woman whose strong will and bitter emnity towards England caused Lord Dalhousie to say of her, when in exile, that she was the only person our government near feared. I place my hand on the coffin, and holding the candle obliquely, see a large gilt plate, whereon her name and titles are engraved." 26. I've read more than one contemporary account by goray (who were obviously watching him) explaining away his apparently 'profligate' behaviour as a trait he inherited from his father. They destroyed his mother's reputation (apparently she was the only one with the bollox to challenge them in Panjab):

I am saying that the panj have to have excellent spiritual jeevan ...Bhai Rama Singh ji was one of the panj for me as a kid as far as I know he was not known for proven battle skills or the others but we were all aware of their spiritual depths anyone can develop shastar vidhiya and be bereft of a spiritual side (just look around in the world) . Do we praise Baba Deep Singh for his shastar vidhiya alone or is it his level of Brahmgian in combination with that?

  28. Sangat Ji, i have been noticing a disturbing trend of especially here in the west, instead of doing paath themselves will pay for the paath to be done in Darbar Sahib on their behalf? What is this nonsense and what does anyone get out of paying for others to do paath in their absence? Isn't the point of paath to do on ones own for gian? My family for example do it ourselves and we all take turns even the young ones who can read. And we do langar during and do all the seva ourselves. Isn't that the point? I think it's ritualistic for one to pay others to do it while they go party or watch the television etc. Pointless!

  30. I would say its great if you want to start your own sikhi parchar channel but before you do. Think if you have enough knowledge of sikhi or not? I would steer clear of controversial subjects that can divide people. If you do and you think it will be a positive thing for sikhi and sikh community then go for it. The best subjects to make videos on is to answer the fundamentals of sikhi. Like answering peoples questions. e.g some ignorant people say we worship 10 gods when we only worship 1. Some say we worship a book put it to bed,etc when we bow down to SGGS ji as sign of respect and reverence not worship, etc. So answering the basics questions and queries will help dispel the misconceptions people have about sikhi.

For those whose appetite for history has been whet by the film, try reading the attached document, it contains the text of letters Maharani Jind Kaur sent to the brits begging them to return her son to her, it also gives details on how she was imprisoned by them. 32. I'm glad the movie lived up to your expectations penji. I'll probably take my parents to watch the Punjabi version. I couldn't fault the movie either. The initial slow pace and the subdued character of Duleep Singh gave the viewer a real feel of emptiness and lack of purpose in his early life. Whilst watching the start of the movie I felt that Sartaj may have been deliberately given limited dialogue because of the lack of acting experience but as the movie progressed and Duleep Singh became aware his faith and heritage you could see the confidence and awakening in his character. This is what really impressed me about Sartaj because he totally had me fooled from the first impressions. I don't understand the negative reviews from Hindustan Times as I truly have not seen any Bollywood production that has approached any historical chapter with the sensitivity and serious approach and pulled it off in it's delivery. I also had no idea that the budget was only 5 million as that kind of money in movie can be blown on just one set but I never felt that th movie was low budget as it ticked all the boxes such as script, dialogue, music, cinematography, costume, locations and big names personalities. I definitely didn't feel short changed and most importantly for me the movie has awoken something inside of me and has given me feel of being alone, betrayed and homeless. We possess everything yet have nothing.

  35. Vaheguru ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru ji Ki Fateh, ji That is a very tricky thing to do. What influenced your passion for wanting to make a parcharik video account? I think it is dangerous to start a parcharik account if the individual is not a brahmgyani (not saying you are one or that you are not), because if something is preached in the name of Sikhi through parchar that is not gurmat then it can lead to a lot of negative karmas upon oneself. It may be best to be an observer (and practice personal bhakti) until that high avastha is reached.. These are just my two cents about becoming a parcharik. If something is not known for sure, it is better to keep quiet or to clarify that you do not know for sure. Vaheguru ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru ji Ki Fateh

Now mostly it is haraam di kamai, so unless they spend part of it on Dharmic kaaj. Their financial cycle will collapse or they will loose wealth. 38. The point is, not everybody is at the same spiritual level or are unable to for whatever reasons. Could be not being able to read Gurmukhi, could be physical conditions, anything. Or not enough members of the family to participate. There's nothing wrong in paying for it to be recited, as long as the family make an effort to do some seva by attending or listen to it. It maybe somebody's sharda to have it at Harmandir Sahib and they are not able to go all that way, so instead they would sponsor the seva of it. Even if it's in their home town, their family may not be as tight knit as yours. It maybe nonsense for you, but not everybody goes partying or whatever. You do seva for yourselves and nobody else, but you can't judge another family on what they are doing, without knowing. You do have a point, that it shouldn't be the easy way out as it's for our souls to be engaged to Gurbani, so the attendance and listening to it should be done by oneself, if they can't read themselves. But, there can be various reasons for non attendance, not just what you've quoted.

They can take amrit, why can't they take amrit? Just as you, akj people try to rationalize the illogical and anti Gurmat new find practice of adding women to punj pyare, this was done in the past by akj. Gurmat clearly says kes are kakkar. Some akj people think its alright for homosexuals to have an anand karaj. It never ends with jatha. They have new demands every season.

  40. Just got back from watching The Black Prince - Punjabi version. Originally went to watch the English version, but was totally sold out on getting there. So decided to watch the Punjabi version and we did, as connected to it easily, has subtitles in English too. English version was probably good too, as Tigerforce1 paji mentioned. It was superb, amazing, brilliant movie. Probably the best directed with Punjabi actor as main role I've ever seen. All the actors were great. It's not like the usual Punjabi or Bollywood movie. Was emotional and wish it was longer. Definetley a must to see, that's all I'm saying as I don't want to tell too much for those who still have to see it. Satinder Sartaj was superb, they couldn't have chosen a better actor than him. It's definitely worth seeing.

Also read gurbani and take a hukamnama so Guru Sahib can guide you on the spiritual path and it wont be so scary.

  47. Sangat ji, dont forget that taksal is founded by guru gobind singh maharaj. There is no way that guru sahibs taksal can go away from sikhi. No hate against anyone, I just do not want people believing in lies. Sant baba thakur singh ji said that those singhs who stay at mehta would be get chardikala. Chardikala is not easy to get and in times like these guru sahib does parkhna of khalsa by making the world majority if not many of sikhs against taksal mehta. In addition ninda of anyone is never good. Fact is dhadrianwale did ninda of sant baba harnam singh ji but sant baba harnam singh ji did not do ninda back. He stated facts. Also important to note, no guru sahib did ninda of anyone. In fact sant baba jarnail singh khalsa bhinderwale a true sant sipahi of guru gobind singh ji maharaj always said bibi gandhi or Indirha to adress indira gandhi. They knew of the attack beforehand. Also they did bachan that if anyone can find proof of me attacking someone with my words or body i would cut off and give my head to them. Also to do parchar of sikhi is no joke. Khalsa ji charkaris must be climbed, khopris mst be taken off shaheedi must be given if required but parchar on stage on a higher level than sangat should always be the truth and one should be willing to give shaheedi for what they say. Jio to prem khalen ka chaio sir dhar tali gali mere aou.
