  1. I swear everyone who says this while bashing other sites comes off as a pretentious hipster who only dines at the most organic and most raw vegan lettuce restaurants. Both are good

  2. This forum has changed a lot over the last few years (for the better). Whatever people might think now, it used to be infinitely more narrow minded and prone to hardcore censoring of alternate views. This has changed and I can only put it down to more visionary admin. The opposite seems to have happened with SA, which used to be the most uncensored forum and full of people who'd actually made efforts to read historical texts, but after admin changes changed to a more censor based approach. Let's be frank, forums have their markets, SPN is geared towards pacifist, kum baa yaa malord, PC type Sikhs, Sikhnet is geared towards white Sikhs (although some of their stuff is good for others to read), Sikhchic caters to US SIkhs who have a very leftist pacifist PC worldview, other forums have catered to specific groups like AKJ. SS users seem to be majority Panjabi Sikhs (even if diasporic), which form the biggest numbers. SS has survived because it adapted.

  3. For me sikhawareness is a great forum, the amount of knowledge on those topics, real discussion and not a debate with limitations of what you can say.

  4. Well sikhsangat is not freedom to speak. Make a topic about meat or anti khalistan and you will see the forums true vibes...silence anyone who doesn't agree with their view of sikhi.

  5. Many people believe that 'adhakk' is a new invention but there is a puratan bir of Dasam Granth called Bhai Daya Singh bir Aurangabad. It contains the great bani 'bhagauti astotar' and it contains the 'adhakk'.

  7. Personally I neither support nor oppose such a move. However if the Punj Sahibaan's were women more females would turn up for PESH :-)

  8. That forum will never be a place for meaningful discussions (as far as Sikh issues are concerned, meaningful usually coincides with 'controversial', hence the censorship) if they're not willing to extend almost total openness to their forum users. Ofc this'll mean some 'indecent behaviour' every now and then, but if someone wants to dig for gold they're always going to have to dig through mitee too.

  9. While I don't really care who gives Amrit or not, where do we stop on trying to keep the tradition identical to the original 5? Why at sex? Why don't we also make sure the 5 have to be from the same areas the original 5 were from? Same profession? Etc

  10. I think that forum was well ahead of its time. As good as this forum has got (compared to the past), you'd still not get all the textual analysis you got on SA - and the amount of people it inspired to look at texts and share findings and translate stuff says it all. Let's be real, that was down to N30.

  12. hey you forgot about sikh Philosophy which seems to be used more by american sikhs. I would not say sikhsangat is a success, and some topics are still not allowed which are part of maryada of Gursikh. Also I haven't seen much success from any of these forums in promoting issues effecting British sikhs such as turban hatred from other sikhs and relatives, keeping proper rehit like training with shastar and martial arts, and I am sure this forum at least is not designed for discussing halal meat being served in schools and workplaces etc. The fact that there is no forum which caters for the whole sangat is a big problem. Reddit is ok, but facebooker and instagrammer pendoos aren't going to touch Reddit when they are busy posting shraabi and nangi photos are they?

  13. My opinion on this forum are as follows. Many of the posters are quite intellegent and knowledgable. However I have also noticed a sizeable number of posters with deep pyschological issues who use this forum to vent their anger and causes unecessary arguements in topics. Its like they have been bullied all their life so they let all their frustrations out on people who make innocent topics. These low lifes need to get a grip. These people know who they are and really need to take long hard look in the mirrow and do some serious soul searching.

  16. Sikhsangat is community service site funded by few individuals. Reddit is a business run by professionals. Just hire a PR agency & promote your content. See how you tubers make money, those who don't are usually funded by Religious organisations or political parties. Nanak Naam & BOS both have backing. Sikh awareness is the least popular & least influential of the lot. Tapoban was one of the pioneers, they had very good content & wise members. But being kattar led to their downfall. They have differences with their ideological family members ie Akj's & Bibekis so how can they unite no-jatha amritdharis, non-amritdharis, sehajdharis, non-Sikhs ? "Every living thing must grow. It can't stand still. It must grow or perish" I agree with the rest regarding moderation, member's, topics. If you want to discuss Gurmat, find and start relevant topics. Don't wait for others.

  17. Right, this is why Harjit Singh Sajjan, born in Canada, is a Kesadhari Sikh who uses his Indian name and Nikki Haley, born in Punjab, is a sellout that cuts her hair, uses a Western name, and married a white Christian. Oh, oopsies, that's exactly 180 degrees incorrect: Harjit Singh Sajjan was born in Punjab, and Nikki Haley was born in South Carolina. If you had just made a general statement that we should not sell out and change ourselves in a misguided attempt to please Westerners, that would have been fine. By making a sweeping statement, the statement becomes false. In contrast to you, I salute all of our people who stay true to their roots (to either lesser or greater extents), including Canadian-born Bardish Chaggar and Navdeep Bains and Punjab-born Harjit SIngh Sajjan and Amarjit Sohi. Any Sikh with his head screwed on straight is proud of both Harjit SIngh Sajjan and Navdeep Singh Bains, and does not discriminate between them based on place of birth.

  18. Thanks for highlighting this. Some of our brothers who are deluded on the issue of the 10th Guru's bani like to bring up one argument after one, just to try to refute the Master's bani in one way or another. When when argument is shown fake, they just move on to another, or sometimes they recycle the fake argument after an appropriate amount of time has passed. It's quite clear the addhak is being used on the words ਜੁ੍ੱਧ at the top and ਅੱਤ near the bottom.

  19. With girls, in the early stages they are probably wondering how bad the effects will be after reconstructive surgery/healing etc. I think they might be secretly hopeful it wont be too bad. God knows how it effects them long term but people are adaptable. I remember one bird I met in her late 40s (I think) crying to me about its so hard now, because when she was younger she'd get all the attention from blokes and have them running around after her - and now she doesn't. I didn't have much sympathy for her. Problem with 5hit like this acid attack is that it sets a precedent, and gives ideas to other fudhoos in the local area. Where are you based destruction? What country?

  20. I don't think them being stuck up about their looks justifies this sort of thing in any way. It reminds me of Baba Nanak's word's in Babbur vani when he talks about attractive women's looks (that they were proud of) now becoming a liability when Babur's soldiers went on the prowl for female slaves.

  21. This website officially is a representation of why sikhs are a laughing stock & not even a shadow of what mahraj wanted us to be. The sheer level of low intellect, tunnel visioned & fairy tale rubbish that appears on this site is a joke. This is my last post on here
