  1. lol I'm the one 'trying to split Sikhs'. If you had half a brain you would realise that your the one who is dividing Sikhs. You are saying non dastaar wearers are not even 'Sikhs'. Your putting people into two seperate camps by saying this and thus dividing us all and creating a wedge and unharmony amongst Sikhs. I guess that is why they say the measure of stupidity is a bottomless pit.

  2. What I find humorous is that the very parameters, of identity, utilized to define "colonial Sikhi" versus "pre-colonial Sikhi" are somewhat ambiguous. In relation to Hinduism, it is argued that modern Sikhi is but a Europeanized revamping; yet if the same parameters are applied to Hinduism then it emerges that Hinduism too is a Europeanized revamping.

  4. The fact that you called Jainism a "soft" laid back religion... You lost all the _____ i had to offer in respect of your response, which though started awesomely, lost me, because Jainism is anything but soft as it is a strict religion with hardcore ideology that has been steadfast for centuries. Now... Being a Sikh, definitely in the outwards sense, requires agreement with the panths rules as transcribed by bhai mani singh but lets not forget that that rehat marayada is a political act established under punjab sikh guradwara act in early 1900s and was drafted multiple times over multiple years to appeasement of various individuals (babas) and organizations and certain convinces of the rulers of the time. All i can say is believe in SGGS and focus on your ownself and rest leave to waheguru to decide and judge.

  5. As a Sikh we must also never judge others... Something many seem to have forgotten over time... Its almost like we are no longers Sikhs of our gurus or SGGS but of the various baba's and translater/scribes. Immerse yourself in gurbani, let go of your worldy views, focus on youself and accept everyone as they come, and waheguru will be one with you! If you like the guy, go for it, ask him out, be confident in yourself and your beliefs, true strength lays in not changing yourself or your beliefs for others appeasement.

  6. Yet he achieved - admittedly temporal - feats that no other Sikh has managed since those times. If we believe the strength of a people and its nation are recognisable in its successes on the non-spiritual plane, he's one of the greatest Sikhs of all time from a certain point of view. Those worldly victories may count for very little in the kingdom of God, but unfortunately the kingdom of Man is where we all reside whilst we breathe, and on that front Ranjit Singh made his mark not only for himself but for the benefit of our people. That counts for something.
