  1. Look, why can't you be yourself, instead of drawing so much attention to yourself? I am sure there is a very huge gay community out there you can open your heart to whenever you feel desperate. I am 100 per cent positive that you are not the only gay man in this world! So, stop drawing so much attention to yourself, it is not very nurturing for your well being. You are gay and not some criminal! Stop feeling sorry for yourself. Self pity is not good for our mental and physical health. You are an ordinary human being who happens to be gay, nothing wrong with you! Stop acting like some sort of pariah you are not! Tell your parents about your status. They are grown ups they should have the ability to deal with it and stop forcing you to get married! I can't believe I am living in the twenty first century and reading all this! It is unbelievable!

  2. You can do 10 astpadis daily instead of whole paath. But i find if i do the whole paath even if without concentration, i feel better at the end of it. And we should be making an effort to discipline our mind so keep tryinv to do the whole paath and fight to keep ur mind in the present, on the meanings. If ur tongue gets tired from doing paath, ahh wat a blessing! Is there any more shubh karam? But u might want to switch: 5 astpadis out loud, 5 in ur mind, get up and walk while listening to the other 5, sing the other 5, and read meanings of the 4. Also dont worry about the 3 big choices. Keep ur options open, live day to day. Leave some on God, and try the rest urself. I think u should try to come out to ur parents. Not all at once, dont make it another option and stress about it, just try to be truthful. Also maybe look for religious gay ppl, u said u tried the gay scene n didnt fit in so look for the religious gay ppl. There is a blog by a sikh gay person, google it. See wat issues they facing, wat solutions they have. Take it slowly, keep faith in God and keep searching when u feel despair. The right path to ur life might show up. Also look into how other religions are dealing with gay marriages, cuz sikh ppl might need to address this issue one day, and it would be nice if someone had done research on it. Look into the jati concept- Ika Naari Jati Hoe Look at comparison of degradation of society and homosexual behavior ( is there any correlation, causation, cuz christians r always saying roman/greek societies fell due to deviant sexual behavior), the debate of gay marriage (esp in America. I learned a lot. Like some pastor was arguing that studies show children need both a father and mother, so kids growing up in LGBTQ households with 2 moms or 2 dads, have same tendancy to fail as single parent kids. Also that there is alot of divorce/cheating in gay marriages as men are more promiscuous than women, so if u have 2 men, it doubles chances. Also that many lesbian households have domestic abuse) also check out Milo Yianopoulis on youtube, hes a Gay, Catholic, Jew who is against gay culture. He wants to live the gay lifestyle, but thinks pushing the gay agenda is harmful tl;dr: the choices u r facing in life r hard and unique n nobody has the answers becuz there r few ppl in ur situation. So i say do more research n maybe u will be able to help urself or at least help others in ur situation. More than research, keep doin paath, have faith, wat happened to u is part of Gods will and Gods Will Can't Take You Where God's Grace Won't Save You. Guruji protects his devotees, fulfills their wishes worldly and otherwise, so become a devotee and never fear

  4. Oh touchy are we? are you him or related/friends with him? lol your very defensive of these guys all of a sudden I've interacted with the sikhtalk guy on facebook before in the past few months over the brexit vote issue and others have said he blocks polite people just for challenging his narrative on his social media accounts he censors people. so anyways like I said I agree with some of his views but not when they concern leftist marxist communist agenda then no i dont agree. Others who I know who have interacted with him on various platforms see him as an arrogant pro-islamic grooming, pro-gay marriage censorship loving commie I have not come to that conclusion yet. I'm just giving my views of what I have observed about him and the other "inqulab guy" and I qualified it with an "if" so if he does that or has those kinda non-sikh ideological views then he is fair game to be challenged and called out in my personal view just as they attack and slander others on social media. However if both of them do not hold anti-khalistan views then fair enough I have left my final assessment on them on hold until they clarify where they stand on certain issues (ie islamic grooming gangs, khalistan sikh nationhood, etc) I will let what others think of them in the forum.

  5. As with most history sources you've got to apply some critical thinking; discern the intentions of the author, etc., but taking that into account there's the two volumes on Sikh history by Khushwant Singh that are a good foundation for further reading. I was dissuaded from reading them for many years due to his apparent pro-India leanings, but after going through them quite recently, I think he does a more than admirable job of chronicling the origins and growth of our people. He frames his research and his findings in a way that puts the achievements of our Guru Sahibs in a relatable historical and social context of those times, something that no giani I've listened to has ever managed, with the impression being - if your knowledge of Sikhi is exclusively gleaned from what's presented to us in a Gurdwara - that our Guru Sahibs existed in a rarefied, unattainable ether, whereas the reality was that they were of the people, and not just sitting on a throne passing down holy commands. They were (and are) divine, but they also understood and experienced the many facets of humanity. That's why we love them to this day, not because of a sense of servile awe at their supernatural abilities, but because they realised the Truth.

  6. Many people suspect the chand torra on the dumalla of Nihangs as a hindu symbol as the chand(moon) is linked to hindu demigod Shiva. But there is a Chand Shastar of Guru Gobind Singh Jee. It is kept at the Historical Gurdwara of Laxmipur, Bihar. This is a sher panja shaster of Guru Sahib. This was worn around the knuckles as a knuckle buster, Laxmipur is a small village which has a lot of sikhs living in and around the village.

  8. This is going to sound really desi, but I have to massage my joints (knees, ankles, elbows, and shoulders) with badaam oil twice a week. I train hard - running and bodyweight exercises - so the oil massage just kills any lingering aches and pains I have. Then I have a very hot shower and get into bed. The next morning I'm as fresh as a daisy. Also, if you're getting pain in your knee from running, you might want to get your patella checked out. There's a commonly available strap that's available which alleviates the pressure on the knee when running. Another thing you might consider is your running style: are you a heel striker or a toe runner? This is stuff you most likely know.

  9. Yeah, I revisited that interview and he does say the same thing. If we are complaining about the state of Panjabi folk singers singing all kinds of rubbish, us as the public and our own media are to blame because we give an audience to that type of crap and essentially promote and reward it. So yes, we should be encouraging, rewarding and promoting folk singers putting out relevant and positive stuff out there, otherwise we get the situation we have today. Singers and other types of creative artists have intrinsic drives that makes them create like they do, they are also reactive to the public. In the end, as Joe Public we should have a very strong hand in directing what they produce. They can be a very powerful social force if they are directed properly.

  11. Yup seems like possibly another brainwashed far lefty <banned word filter activated> who has some cringe worthy bhangra videos on his channel. I think both of them have pictures of revolutionaries of bhagat singh, che guvara, sant bhindranwale, etc on their walls, yet they don't believe in self determination for their own sikh community and nationhood of Khalistan? Strange hypocritical people, these types want to jump on bandwagon and suck of Islamic-fascist causes like freedom for Palestine protests and other islamic missionary groups. If these people are anti-khalistan then they are in the same camp of the maha fudhu infamous evil islamic rape apologists sunny hundal, gurpreet bhatti, katy sian. And this christian named katy witch who likes to call herself a Sikh female and dr of sociology has slept around with non-sikhs and probably with muslim guys at college, uni then preached to sikhs on social media that there's no such thing as islamic grooming rape gangs back in 2012 in her tweets and articles and that Sikhs are deluded or racist for calling out pedo muslim gangs then boom 2013 comes along and pakistani muslim rape gangs are exposed by the white british politicians and mainstream media outlets and she goes quite as a mouse. She hasnt retracted her statements either that theres no cases of sikh girls exploited by muslim pedo rape gangs.

  13. Further thoughts: Zafarnama would also represent some sort of zenith of the use of Farsi, it also represents the peak and decline of the use of the language, so it would be interesting to people of Farsi heritage in that respect. Another overlooked issue that has been touched on by some of the later posts above, is how Farsi (I think) represents Shia expression and culture as opposed to the majority Sunni. Shias and Sunnis (as most of us know) have had (and still have!) brutal conflicts with each other over religious doctrine. In that perspective Zafarnama is also symbolic of their culture being used to fearlessly confront and castigate a renown Sunni fundamentalist (Aurenga), so it would be inspiring for them in that sense. Some of them may well get a sense of Guru ji's independent spirit and stoicism in the face of extreme loss and be inspired by it. It would also be a model for leadership in trying times. Point is, it contains a lot and can be analysed from multiple perspectives that Farsi people would find relevant to their lives today.

  14. Satnaam - his name is truth. Everything else is false only the name of the creator is true. So what does this mean.... For you it means this - this body is false, all your desires are false, all your feelings are false, all your thoughts are false. So what is true - the truth is God did not create the soul as male or female. God created everyone with a purpose. The main purpose was naam simran. When this body will pass away - nothing will be left but you a little soul - without a body. Who will guide you then ? His name will. However if you are still stuck in thoughts of shall I get married or not ? shall I have sex or not ? Shall i have children or not ? Well those thoughts are what will be left with you when you leave your body. When will that be ? It could be any time. No one knows how much time we have left. Would you like to come back and still have to live on this earth with all its problems starring you at the face? Whatever your past sins - naam is powerful enough to burn them. However you need to turn to naam first. Slowly in time - naam will bear fruit. Thoughts of your sexuality, marriage etc will start to evaporate and you will realise that you are a soul sent here with a mission. Perhaps you will realise your sexuality to be a blessing for you. Naam brings brings blessings to all - however you need to get down to practising it first. It is fine to just do a few asatpadies of Sukhmani sahib as a starter. Speed comes with time. Devote half an hour or an hour everyday at the same time. if you workout - you can listen to the kirtan version of sukhmani. You can decide alternatively to read each astpadi like 5 times instead. This means you are repeating it and will find it easier as time goes by. In a month you will have read each astpadi 5 times... this means your confidence in reading the bani will increase too.

  15. DSS work to the same modus operandi as the Radhaswamis. They take earth-shatteringly excellent aspects of Sikhi and adopt them as their own. This draws people towards them, people visit them and in turn more people join. Before long, millions of them are singing to the same hymn sheet and pointing out how they are so much better than the Sikhs....even though it was Sikhi ideals espoused by our Gurus that they adopted. For example, I would say that somewhere near half of my pend back in Punjab have become Radhaswamis. When you ask them why, nearly all of them point to the environment inside the radahaswami dera. You see, the Radhaswamis realised a long time ago that almost all the Sikhs were either too uneducated, too ignorant or too attached to concreting over grass and building gigantic houses to be able to even realise what the Gurus had taught the whole world about the environment and nature. Our Gurus, were the world's first environmentalists, teaching us about the inter-connecting relationship between man, animal and nature centuries before any western scientist even had a notion of it. It is oft said that Sikhi is the greatest religion in the world but unfortunately it has been revealed to the most ignorant and uneducated people in the world : we Punjabis. So, with this magnificent thing in our hands what do we the Punjabis do with that magnificence ? Old men who pray all day but do no work say respect men who pray all day. Over the centuries these men make written and unwritten rules. One of them is to plant in people's heads the idea that debating, thinking and asking questions is the same as arguing. Thus they say 'only fools argue' and in this way you're a patit if you question their authority and decision making ....thus they ensure they never get questioned. Our parcharaks have been using this ploy a long time now and it is showing no sign of going out of fashion any time soon. For example, 3 weeks ago, Harjinder Singh of Nirvair Khalsa Jatha , in a katha, said only fools share viral videos of Sikhs doing bad things. Of course nobody can question if there is a relationship between a man saying good Sikhs never share and spread viral videos and that particular man and his group being the subject of numerous bad videos, because remember the parcharaks have already told you....only fools argue. They ensure they are never questioned and you always remain in ignorance. In the same way, last year when Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale's jeep was attacked by gunmen, the sangat were not able to comprehend the irony in the fact that he said he was on his way to serve Waheguru and the fact that his car was a petrol guzzler of monsterous proportions. When Gurbani says the air, trees and flowers ARE also Waheguru this means he was killing Waheguru on his way to serving Waheguru So, we get to a stage where half a Punjab village have become Radhaswamis and when explaining the virtues of it they cite how their deras are super clean natural environment where concrete is dug up and trees are planted, birds sing in the trees and bees polenate the flowers. This is a Sikhi ideal given to us in Gurbani but they, and dera sacha sauda and of course that safron wearing pakhandi baba Balbir Seechwal that has become India's most celebrated environmentalist have been able to hijack and claim as their own these ideals because our leaders and rule-makers were too busy making rules. It started with the Maryada they made 2 before the current one where they ruled that any Sikh that learned Persian was going strictly against Sikhi. This rule remained in place for 50 years before some Sikhs started getting educated and pointed out how that would make Sri Gobind Singh ji un-sikh for he was a true scholar of Persian. The next Maryada they came up included the rule that every Sikh female MUST have the surname Devi. This rule stood for nearly a century. Now there are rules for sitting, rules for bathing, rules for the type of elastic to wear....all of which, they say, will make you a non-sikh if you break. Once any people get too hung up on rules they lose touch with the essence of the actual message. The essence of what Guru ji taught us becomes lost because our focus and energy is on following the 'rules'. The 'essence' within Sikhi is enough to save the entire earth. The earth is being destroyed and Sikhi has the answers. But our 'religious' are too busy following rules, making money, knocking down trees, flowers and plants and building giant concrete houses. No more bees in Punjab and they blame Badal...oblivious to the part they played. No more flowers in Punjab and they blame Badal...oblivious to the part they played. No more trees in Punjab and they blame Badal....oblivious to the fact that every tree that has been cut down in Punjab has significantly cut Punjab's underground water table. So, the real question is: How is it that DSS, the Radhaswamis and the Nirmali dera can hijack our Sikhi ideals and prosper from whilst 99% of Sikhs don't even know that those are our own Sikhi ideals given to us by our Gurus ?

  16. Milkman....I find your posts amusing. You speak some truth. If you copy and paste from a wide variety of sources to strengthen and further your argument, well, I regard that as a seva to the sangat as it saves us valuable research time. Of course you well know it is always good form to quote one's sources. You let me down when I see grammatical and spelling errors in your posts though..tut tut. Death nail...death knell was meant for you. As for Monica and the rest.. that analogy belongs to you and you alone. I think you belong on a certain wave or spectrum...maybe <banned word filter activated> savant. As my old man used to say about certain people that can gab on ad nauseum - their words flow like a drain (you can do the translation). What I would say to all those anonymous pseudo Sikh keyboard warrior/saints (you and me included), is.... what's the point? What is your purpose? If you have a gift (I certainly believe you have), then petty point scoring on an internet forum is surely an antithesis to that said gift.

  17. Tbh, when i was younger, i made a mission in my mind, that i wud not only fully read/understand the zafarnama, but id learn farsi/persian to read it, as opposed to a simplified english translation. Trouble is though, the farsi/persian spoken in modern day iran is diluted and is not pure farsi. Infact, they say, that dari (east persian), which is spoken in afganistan, is the purest form of the old farsi left, to the point, afghans mock iranians for ditching it for their modern day rubbish. I remember watchin a documentary on iran presented by rageh omar, n they were using french phrases, like 'merci beaucoup' and 'bonjour', which i thought was ridiculous. So it looks as though, if there is gonna be sum sort of persian/farsi revival, then it will have to come from our fellow afghan sikh brothers/sisters.

  19. its best to go to a proper Taksali approved Santhiya teacher, doing it alone is good for practice but learning it is a completely different thing. Whatever you do don't go to any old person teaching Santhiya, especially ones trained by the "SGPC", all their stuff has no lineage to actual santhiya and its sources are murky at best. If you want some good apps to use here's the ones I use. Damdami Taksal app (just put that into app store lemme know if u have trouble finding it) - this app is great as it colour codes which parts of gurbani has pauses and how long they are meant to be. There's an amazing range of bani and loads of variety there. You can do paaths like Chaupai Sahib and Reharas Sahib from various dals from there too depending on which one you connect with the most. This app is definitely the most reliable. SearchGurbani - this app is also good as it has english written Gurmukhi too, however DO NOT trust the translation on there. The ones of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji are ok but the ones of Dasam Granth Ji are just horrific, they're completely misconstrued so for translations I recommend listening to Katha about it. The app also has a habit of adding bindis in random places from what I gather, just remember that pher bindi isn't in Guru Granth Sahib Ji or Dasam Granth, though Dasam Granth has bindis within it iirc. So if you see words like Durg-shah, remember to pronounce it as Durgsah. or Dusut and not Dusht. But once again. I recommend finding a proper Taksali teacher to teach you.
