  1. You have to make many adjustments in your life, way of thinking, sangat, the way you behave ( I.e. avoid chugliya), in order to keep feeling ras. When something bothers you and your mind is not in control then you will not be able to focus on path. Try listening to kirtan as well during the day. Bani is meant before sunrise. After sunrise kirtan.

  2. Yes, it's normal. High and lows are part of a spiritual journey, that the soul will find its own way to adjust when the time is right. Bhagti isn't easy, instead of dwelling of why this happens, accept it and work towards methods of reigning back the mind.

  3. Is it normal to go through the highs and lows of spirituality? What I mean by 'highs and lows' is the time spent to do simran and the state of mind. I noticed that there are days or weeks when I feel the motivation and love to do path/simran. It's so easy to concentrate on doing path. I long to join sat sangat and feel blessed during those days. Then there are days I have a really hard time getting up on time. Mind is wandering so much that I can hardly finish japji Sahib or sometimes do not want to do any path at all. My interest in doing path/simran totally dies and feel 'no ras.' I find it striking how can I jump from one state of mind to another so drastically? How can one be in 'sehaj' state of mind?

  4. The highs and low are expected in this journey. If there are mountains, there will be valleys. If sukh then dukh. If tikeya man then chanchal mann.if day then night. If happiness there will be sadness. That is how this world works. Until youve found yourself, your true self which is atma which exists in sehaj avastha, equipoise, samdrishti, gazes upon dukh sukh, gold dirt, death life as one. Until your true subhav, personality: eternal anand is found, the high lows will remain. But u must not stop the journey, no matter how low u go, if u keep traveling, u will get out of the valley. It isnt bhagati or love or worship to only do simean when u feel like it. Its bhagati when its done when u dont feel like it. 5. Guest Jee, Guru Sahiban beautifully gives us the answer to this your query in simple words: ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਜਮੁ ਨਸੈ Prabh Kai Simaran Dhookh Jam Nasai प्रभ कै सिमरनि दूखु जमु नसै Remembering God, the pain of death is dispelled. Moreover, Guru Sahiban goes one step forward, and guarantees us that: ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕਾਲੁ ਪਰਹਰੈ Prabh Kai Simaran Kaal Pareharai प्रभ कै सिमरनि कालु परहरै Remembering God, death is eliminated. *So, you too, if you want to get liberated from that fear, take shelter in Guru Sahiban, by following their instructions, of the only solution to all maladies: Prabh Ka Simran. Sat Sree Akal.

  6. Brother, the main reason for moral decline, is that we are in the age of Kalyug. The answer to your question, could be an analogy, like if someone asked, why is it so cold in winter? Well, it is supposed to be cold in winter, or hot in summer. each season brings along its own climatalogical conditions. In a similar way, Satyug was and is different from the rest of the yugas, and altogether all the 4: Sayuga, Dwapur, Treta and Kalyug are different between them. But while there is decline for sure, Guru Sahiban have given us the freedom to choose righteousness, by following Gurmat implicitly, and get ourselves out from this mayavee creation, be it may Satyug though, and reach our Nijh Ghar Sachkhand, forever in the lap of Wahiguru Akal Purukh. Sat Sree Akal.

  7. There are certain moments when we suddenly become aware of our weaknesses and limits. Raj na koi jiveya... no one has lived life to the fullest. Even st the ripe age of 120+ years... no one will want to leave this world. That is why dharam raaj and his dhoot have a very hard job to perform. First they have to force the life out of someone by causing some massive organ failure. Then they have to deal with the soul which simply refuses to obey and still believes it is attached to the body. However Kabir ji has glorified death for whose who have passed their days in naam simran. Marne hi te paiye puran parmanand. It is only after death that we can become one with God. Thr death of the ego. We have to forget ourselves and perform seva like how bhilni tasted each fruit for Sri Raam Ji without realising she is making it jhutha. Gurbani gives us various examples of ehat our love for God should be like. A fish/ rainbird longing for water/rain. Chakvi longing for sunshine. This is the love which makes people seem insane to the world. True bhagats of God cannot be understood by man. Kabir ji had to admit to people that he is baurha. No one understood what Jesus was talking about about hence no one stood by him in his crucifixion time. If we want to forget all about dwath then this love has to take us over so that all we can still see is God the divine everywhere. Guru Arjun Dev ji on the hot tavi, Guru Tegh Bahadhur ji parting with his sis, chaar sahibzadhe, Baba Deep Singh Ji... all unafraid of death but ready to stand by truth... which is God. Adh sach jugadh sach hai bhi sach Nanak ho si bhi sach.

  9. I don't know whats happened to the forum, but i hope that it will be up soon. There was a lot of good info on that site, and some translations i put up, i never bothered to save on my own computer. If it comes back up (fingers crossed) then that will be the first thing i do. Neo can't be faulted for allowing an open forum. because it did lead to some pretty intense debating and learning. From time to time, we had mini-invasions on that forum. From time to time, we had Snatanis, missionaries and vaishnavs throwing their views around, plaguing that forum with the same drivel over and over. But when they weren't, there was some pretty interesting things going up, which sadly were rarely seen here. That was one of the reasons I rarely posted here over the last 2 or 3 years.

  11. Don't know whose behind this Sikh Network initiative and what's their agenda. Instead of 350 women it should have been 35 or 50. They went for Quantity instead of highlighting the Quality !

  12. jis marne te jag dare mere man anand marne te hi paiya puran param anand. life is but a dream; death is reality. If u r scared of going to hell keep on reading. Guru gobind Singh ji said that if a Sikh that doesn't cut his/her hair ends up in hell he will be rescued by me. If your amritdhari u have nothing to fear. one thing u shud do is sing praises of the almighty and sing his name as much as u can (while u eat, walk, sit, etc.). The last thought u have before death decides everything! If ur life is not uchi suchi do ardas to waheguru to make ur life uchi suchi (a good gursikh jeevan). Waheguru is the doer he is the one that acts through everyone, everything that happens is within his hukam. His hukam is ALWAYS perfect. Everything he does is really great (words fail to describe it). So death is his hukam as well. Tera kiya mitha laage. remember death and sing his praises day and night. Hao kurbanai jao tina ke lain jo tera nao. hope this helps

  14. Re; The Moral Decline in Society thread on the main page: Lets use any society as an example....lets use our UK society: 100 years ago robbery and murder were commonplace on the streets of London. Now they are rare. 20 years ago peadophilia was considered so acceptable it was out in the open. Now it is not. That is not a decline in morals.......It is an enhancement. 60 years ago, our grandfathers in Punjab regularly took opium and other drugs. 20 years ago our weddings here in the UK were full of blind drunken fights. Now, you will never ever see a person drinking to excess at our wedding. This is not a sign of alcohol culture getting worse. its a sign that things are actually so much better than they used to be. Everything that is happening today also happened yesteryear. 60 years ago our grandfathers used to gamble their family's wealth away playing cards under the pippal tree in the centre of the pend. Now it is rare. That is not a "decline". That is an enhancement. Victorian London, for example, was many hundreds of times more dangerous than it is now. Every generation always thinks crime was less yesteryear but that it very rarely the case. What I used to get up to as a kid with my mates in west London back in the day would get me locked up today. ummm........ No worse today than it was yesteryear. No. Actually, you'll find so many good young people in the UK and especially America they go out of their way to help others, fight for the poor and disenfranchised etc.

  18. Bhenji, that is the side effect of a timeworn practice of reading books. Tusi ta aapi kehnde ne ke sikhiaa sabh tau jaroori hai, but you object to people demonstrating this same education in their manner of speech? I don't understand.

  19. In my opinion, we should do any do any work available, to earn our living honestly, without compromising moral laws. There is so much worldwide crisis nowadays, that it is luxurious to have choices. But in any case, as said, work for the world, just to earn your daily bread with honest means. Not by torturing, taking advance of others or by cheating anyone, because that will be a hindrance in our spiritual life. Then, from one´s salary, one should give at least a dasvand of it, otherwise whatever we can, it will be acceptable in His eyes. We give dasvand not for expectation for rewards, but to cut our attachments with Maya to an extent, and at the same time have an humble attitude of gratitude towards Wahiguru, for allowing us to live decently, for only then can one easily concentrate on Him. See how many people have economic problems, thus they maybe spiritual oriented, but then, they find it difficult to focus on spirituality....So better to thank Him, for all His unlimited Grace upon us. Wahiguru is nowhere outside, to whom we have particular timings for meeting or appointment, He is right within us, as soon we wish to conatct Him, we just shift our thoughts towards Him, that´s it. Sat Sree Akal.
