  1. Do you think it is now time to have the original colours and flags reinstated to distance us from the Saffronisation by hindu influenced SGPC? Personally I'd love to see the yellow and blue nishan sahibs flying at Akal Takht again

  3. I think some of you might be aware of this prophecy : Ayega Bees sau beesa By Twenty twenty ad, Na rahey eesa na moosa, The followers of Eesa and Moosa will cease to exist. Looking at the current situation of Western political atmosphere among general public and assessing their hate for migrants from Middle east, the above prophecy ( by Anonymous poet), made in early 20th century, can be clearly foreseen and looks like its becoming true soon.

  4. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh, I'm interested in learning about the origins of the Khanda, which is today the symbol of the Sikh Panth. There is no mention of it in any puraatan accounts, nor any representation of it in Sikh art before the mid-20th century. Nor was it depicted on the Nishaan Sahib - the only symbols carried on the flag of the Sikh Nation were three shastar - a dhal (shield), a katar (punch dagger) and a tulwar sword. This is evident from old Sikh paintings, as well as the gold engravings at Sri Darbar Sahib dating back to the time of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Who created the Khanda, and when? How did it come to be so ubiquitous?

  7. Issues important to rural folks? Issues such as obtaining alcohol, selling their religion for drugs and nice motorcycles where they can write "Putt Jattan Da" on the back? Fantastic. Not sure why you're suggesting I'm a supporter of Congress. I have asked my family and friends in Punjab to support Simranjit Singh Mann for years now.

  8. About 4 years ago I asked a student I was teaching about this very thing. She brought in a Persian-English dictionary and I specifically asked her to look up crocodile - and nihang was in there. It wasn't the first entry (more towards the latter synonyms) but it was there - so you appear to be misled.

  9. The Hindu gods are more analogous to superheroes than actual deities in Sri Dasam Granth Sahib. The Tenth King's Granth is the scripture of Bir Ras, the essence of the warrior, it's passages are supposed to be invoked in the heat of battle so that the Sikh can find courage. This is the only purpose of Chandi Di Vaar - to provide martial inspiration. Guru Sahib deliberately chose to include stories of Hindu mythological figures and their inspiring deeds because these were the sorts of tales and characters he could be certain that most of his followers were, to at least some degree, familiar with.

  10. Definitely! It should be THE symbol of us returning to our true roots.

  11. The Badal family, which has destroyed Punjab over the course of 5 decades now, has relied heavily on the "pendu" vote. But he's one of us! He's a farmer! Let's vote for him! Yes, let's just completely ignore the fact that he's a mass murderer, anti-Sikh, and does not believe in God. I have no faith in the jats of Punjab in their current state.

  12. i mean exactly those voices which are of those trying o preserve our gurmat sangeet, our itihaas, our purataan granths and reviving the calligraphy tradition, the voices of the diverse youth interested in Sikhi in its pure form and message, the voices who will face down police charges in the name of the panth...those voices.

  13. I don't see it like you. I see it more as our lot have a blank canvas, that we can work on. And that the only way is up. I think if more and more apnay reject the current pendu bewakoof precedents we'll have the start of something different that can snowball into a bigger ground level movement. Truth is that this has already started. Mainly because so many of us have escaped the feudal cesspit that is Panjab and have seen that people can, and do, live in an infinitely superior way to how our lot are today. If you're right about the backwards behaviour being biologically driven (cellular in your own words) we're f**ked. I think it is more cultural though.

  14. I wish I had the time to locate a post I made on the myths of Sufi Islam from a few months back, but I don't. In summary, here's what it covered. I saved a quote in a notepad file but neglected to note the source: This wishful thinking on the part of non-Islamic Sufi sympathisers is weak-willed sycophancy. Why defend something that, if the tables were turned, would never be reciprocated? I understand about seeing God in everything and everyone, but some take it to unpalatable extremes at the expense of common sense and the truth that's staring them right in the eyes.

  16. I also think that the average jatinder is not qualified as He/she has very little knowledge and thus lumps everyone together under an umbrella label because of a single or handful of bad apples . I think really EVERYONE needs to go back to basics and build sharda pavana from there . Generally where there is love for sangat and cleanliness in Langar there will be more in Darbar Sahib. My own past knowledge is the one gurdwara which had filthy floors and tables for sangat weeks on end , had a problem with mice in Darbar and Sach Khand ...it was shameful. My Mum and I tackled this beadbhi head on ... the funny thing is those who had 'historical ' links with the place hadn't done Jack for many years.

  17. I agree it is disappointing and also really unfortunate that the existence of that type has now become the norm. And I say that with a very heavy heart because I am now well on my way to becoming amritdhari. Unfortnately, as things stand today, if you would ask the common man in our community what he thinks about amritdharis the answer is always that they are theives, cheaters and fraudsters. The reputation today of amritdharis generally, in our society, is rock bottom and all of us with religious / spiritual convictions have to take collective responsibility for that. In a sense, we've watched with our own eyes the mistakes the Muslim (Pakistani) preachers have made in their community over the last 20 years and instead of learning from those mistakes we're actually so silly we're copying them. They're mistake was that they went for quantity over quality and as such told their young to grow their beards and wear the hijab and do their prayers. Thats all that mattered. They did not teach them that this must come hand in hand with improving one's moral and ethical compass. Today, our parcharaks, especially people like Harjinder Singh and Nirvair Khalsa jatha, are making that exact same mistake with Sikhs resulting in more amritdharis than we've ever had before but very few of them actually being pure of heart. So, like I said, I would be hapier for my food to be prepared by a non-amritdhari that is a genuine, humble moral person than an amritdhari that cheats and lies.

  18. I'd rather eat food prepared by the hands of an honest bandha or budhi that does not cheat or steal than from the hands of many of those 'amritdharis' that think they're insurance fraud, mortgage fraud etc is NOT stealing.

  20. The kind of spiritual people who follow a Rehat, of which one of the key constituents is arising at dawn for a full-body wash before settling down to meditate. Those kind of spiritual people ? It's a good initiative in my opinion. The places I was referring to have been awarded nothing less than the top rating in the few years I've been aware of such a system being in place. I occasionally have reason to go into the kitchen of one of the Gurdwareh, and it genuinely is pristine, despite it being a small, local Gurdwara.

  21. With this logic I guess ill just start j-walking across traffic etc, live without a worry, I mean everything is in Gods hands no? Might as well we all quit our jobs everything, its all in Gods hands! Ps most people do worry about unsafe meat, just as we should care about how the langar we eat is. And youre not just going to get sick from food lol, obviously youll have to eat some bad food, so why not avoid it?

  22. Update: Govt promises reservation, jaatts partially lift blocks http://m.ndtv.com/cheat-sheet/haryana-quota-protests-8-killed-in-violence-jat-leaders-refuse-to-end-stir-1279602?pfrom=home-topstories

  23. The reason there is no transport en route Delhi from Punjab is that there's chaos in Haryana. Haryanvi jaatts demand special reservation status - they have blocked main roads, water supplies put fire to govt buildings and rail stations. Army has the order of shoot at sight. 10 already killed in the violences across Haryana. As far I heard, govt is ready to meet all their demands. I wonder if Punjabi jatts can get the same now without much hassle..
