  1. Guru Nanak did enter Mecca. Non Muslims being banned from Mecca-Medina is a modern phenonomon associated with the Saud Kingdom. In Ottomon times Christians were unwelcome due to their rivalvry with Islam and the Ottomons specifically and also numerous Portugese attacks during Guru Nanak's time on Muslim pilgrimage ships. A Christian appearing at those sites would have been summararily circumcised and executed. Guru Nanak would not have had the bearing or outward appearence that would have placed him under suspicion given his asiatic looks and monotheist preaching. When the kaaba moved or at least the vision of it moving was observed by those who were protesting at the way Guruji's feet were positioned, in at least one saakhi that I've heard, the irate Arabs were placated by a Muslim Pir from Multan who recognised Guru Nanak and told the gathering that he was a notorious Pir from Hind whose methods were unorthodox and no one should interfere or bother him further.

  9. Yes there is proof. I heard there is a certain book at a university touching this topic. If you want more info on it I certainly think I can contact someone for you. Just don't get mixed up online searching and getting anti-Sikh writings saying Guru Nanak in no way made it to Mecca without being Muslim. Some will say he was Muslim and blah blah blah. To the point, yes he went to Mecca.

  10. Phen jee, it is you who have to reach Wahiguru by doing your own simran.... the ipod can never reach there, even if goes on and on, non stop everyday for x, y or z hours ... :biggrin2: Listening it on Cd, cassette or any audio video electronic device is one thing, doing it within you, with your mind focused on it, it the real thing, which will bring you, purity, peace, bliss, and love for the Lotus Feet of Wahiguru. May God bless you.

BJP MP from Chandigarh is playing main role in this movie and STILL our people thinks that "Oh maybe this is a good movie & might show the truth". Advani along with former punjab cabinet minister chawla - main bjp leaders led a march in amritsar with a huge banner wording: "Save punjab, send army"

  14. Dear bdemon, Nam Simran is done for the purpose of removing one´s filth of karmas, thus to get purified. At the same time, it is done as a prerequisite to meet our beloved Wahiguru. Nam Simran is a means, to meet our beloved Wahiguru. Who has not been in love? So while doing Nam Simran, our attitude should be that of a lover, who is anxious and desesperate to meet the beloved, and when he goes to meet his beloved, there are no other thoughts except those of the beloved, means he has his beloved´s picture in mind at all times, until he goes and gets her beautiful face, and when he sees her, his heart overflows with his love for her... In a similar way, while doing Nam Simran, we must entertain no other thoughts than those of our Pyara Preetam Wahiguru Akal Purukh. We must be so desperate to meet Him, that our condition is like a fish out of water .... At least the fish is lucky, after a few minutes out of water it gives up its last breaths, and we shameful beings, we have been since yugas away from Wahiguru, and still we are alive and entangled with "maya and sin", moreover we have forgotten Him, and have devloped attachment for His creation... But anyhow, our Sachay Patshah, is so gracious, that He has given us His Simran, as a rope to pull Him towards us, whenever we want Nam Simran, is the highest form of devotion, the highest religion, because by perfecting this sadhna or jugtee, we, as said above, we can merge in Him. In summary,Nam Simran should be done with attention, with care, with faith, with humility, with utmost love , as it is the only tool we have, to become nearer ever to our beloved Wahiguru Akal Purukh ..... Wahiguru has blessed us with this tool, now it is up to us, how wisely we use it, and free ourselves forever from this creation, by merging our surtees(souls) in Him. Jin Har japeeya se Har hoeeya. Sat Sree Akal.

  16. In Sikhism, it is believed that one should meditate on God as much as possible because of the world being in Kali Yuga. Because of Kali Yuga, it is stressed that one should meditate as much as possible to reach the state of Nirvana and be liberated or be one with God. Guru Granth Sahib Ji on Ang:1185 says: ab kaloo aaeiou rae Now, the Dark Age of Kali Yuga has come. eik naam bovahu bovahu || Plant the Naam, the Name of the One Lord. an rooth naahee naahee || It is not the season to plant other seeds. math bharam bhoolahu bhoolahu || Do not wander lost in doubt and delusion.

  20. Dear Pashanks Conversion is a must, but is a massive step. How affiliated is he to his religion if he is dating and if this is a loose affiliation, then is your only concern about how to play happy families? Why don't you both wait until your Registrar years to make any descision about marriage, because a lot will change for you both personally by then?

  21. Behenji If the only problem is your not being a sikh, then that is something that can be easily overcome by conversion. However it is extremely unlikely that that is the only problem. There may be a caste and racial element to this scenario that we are not aware of.... if this is the case, then sikhi and becoming a sikh of the Guru would help you more than anything else could, but you will still have to face the fact that the family wont want you. This would be overcome by the presence of a child a few years down the road. If you feel connected with this marg then ignore what i am about to say..... but if you do not feel an honest, sincere and genuine and connection to the path that is described by the 10 Gurus, then please do not fold to the oppressive pressure of others to conform. Believe it or not, that is absolutely diametrically opposed to the teachings of the Gurus in the first place. Guru Tegh Bahadur ji Maharaj died to allow hindus have the right to remain hindus- so if you dont feel like sikhi is something you would want for yourself then respect yourself and the message the gurus brought, and just be yourself. No matter what you choose, understand Behenji that we will support you. To thine own self be true.

  23. Any mantra/ repetition (tuhee in the case of the tuk) of any word is time bound this also applies when saying waheguru in the mind or out loud. The Gurmat way is to discover the anhad shabad, which is always there for everyone regardless of religion (na roop na rang na rekh etc). Anhad shabad is not a sound or word it is the ajap, which would apply to the tuk you posted earlier. One who discovers this anhad shabad will discover the Lord there will be no death, amrit is found here and death to the shabad occurs. But one who hasn't found the nirgun quality of the shabad has not found naam. Some people limit naam so much that they only call repeating waheguru with 'love' naam but this is incorrect. They also say that it removes the sins and over time you'll become sinless. This is wrong Naam is so powerful that it removes all sins instantly and you become one with God. If you are doing naam and haven't realised the Lord then it is not the 'right' naam. More shabad veechar needs to be done. When you discover anhad shabad (unstruck/ No shabad) you'll be the Lord himself - no sin or anything can touch you. This occurs instantly beyond time. Gurbani is 100% correct. Naam in gurbani means God himself there is a big difference between someone reciting God's name and God himself. ir hir nwmu jpy AwrwDy ivic AgnI hir jip jIivAw ] har har naam japaeaaraadhhae vich aganee har jap jeeviaa || Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, and meditating on it within the fire of the womb, your life is sustained by dwelling on the Naam. The naam here is clearly Gurmat naam i.e. anhad shabad, which is the Lord himself. Not a repetition of his name- because a baby cannot repeat God's name. NAAM in gurbani is the highest - it never implies to something else other than god. The same naam the baby has that has been forgotten needs to be discovered again.

  24. The tukh quoted simply states that parrot repetition alone of a gurmantar is not what it is all about. There is no point naam japping if your mind is not in it. If it is simplt uttering without any vibration of the shabad within, then you are wasting your time!!!
