  3. Can't verify it, but Kuldeep Manak has got some great songs and he has an amazing voice. His last interview was great, he talked about how the Punjabi music industry has gone to trash by promoting kaam and other nonsense. He risked his career during the 80s and 90s where he sang songs about Khalistan and Sikh history.

  5. GURU roop Sadh Sangat jeeo, Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh. Caste system realy needs to be eradicated from Sikhi. But no one is doing some thing for practical implication of the same and everybody just talks ,gives quotes from Gurbaani . Can any body from so called higher castes can marry his daugtrer/son to a boy /daughter from so called lower caste? If yes, it is O.K. and if no , please forgive me , we are only so called Sikhs or BHEKHI SIKHS and not real SIKHS. I being an Amritdhari ,wanted to marry an Amritdhari SIKH Girl in 1979-80 and advertised in a leading Punjabi news papper mentioning especially "Caste no bar"but got response from only 2 references one was from Sandhu Jats and another from Ahluwalia family.Because I had decided for inter caste marriage and that too without dowry and with Baraat of only 5 persons including Myself ,Ihad no option other than the Ahluwalia familys Girl who ( now my SINGHANI )was Amritdhari too. Though I had to make all out and very hard efforts to get my mother agreed for it. One of my brothers daughter has married a boy from RAVIDASIA family and the farher of the girl who is my elder brother ,though participared in the marriage and has also perfomed the Rasam of PALLA PHARANA, is not in talkative terms with his daughter and her husband and does not allow the couple to enter his house. I call him BEIMAAN because is hostile in the court of SIKHI and GURU by participating the marriage ceremony in the presence of GURU GRANTH SAHIB as father of the Girl but now hasitates to accept the relationship due to society. So to eradicate the caste system from SIKHI we shall have to be bold enough to accept rather welome such stories. Bhul chuk Khnma Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh

  6. There have been a few fictional accounts of Sikhs fighting the British recently. This is a real account , one which many Sikhs still do not know about. The Battle of Chillianwala during the second Sikh war in 1849 is a battle in which a large British army was defeated by the Sikhs. What makes the British defeat even more remarkable is that the British army was larger and better equipped than the Sikhs. It also had information from many spies and informers. Its a battle British historians do not like to talk about, because the Sikhs not only beat them but that the Sikh army had up to date weapons and used them like a European army would. British Colonial history is based on the British army defeating large number of 'savages' like Zulus who only have spears and swords. Had the Sikhs not been betrayed by the Dogras and Brahmins Ranjit Singh had employed the course of Sikh and Indian history could have been quite different. http://en.wikipedia....of_Chillianwala http://orbat.com/sit...anwala1849.html

  7. For some reason, when I saw this picture, and since it comes 2 weeks after Muslims performed Namaz outside our local Gurdwara Sahib, it made me feel as though Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj was smiling upon this planet right now, and whispering to Himself "This is how I really wanted things to be!". Another newspiece - Yesterday Muslims were having a Namaz session in Uttarakhand Gurudwara (northern India). Due to heavy rains 800 people could not do prayers in open area, so the Sikh community opened the Gurudwara gates for them to perform Namaz. Too bad the haters on here will need to first learn to read Hindi, the language of another clan you hate with a passion, LOL! :D And before anyone posts hateful comments, I am sure you've noticed some troublemakers haven't been posting for a while. Wondering why?

  9. Good discussion. It's important that average Punjabis who don't know much about Punjabi let alone their own history and listen to modern music to know what is being discussed here. Without understanding this crucial period's history from different perspectives we're lost and can't empower ourselves to help ourselves for the future.

  13. kidda paaji, i highly doubt jagga jatt, was a member of the sikh empires army, coz he was born after 1900, round about 1901-1905, that im sure of, but regardin sikhs becomin dakus, i wudnt b suprised, anythin 2 oppose the british was done by apnay. Dakus like him, and later sucha singh soorma r sumink 2 b proud of. Even if they wern't gursikhs (they trimmed beards n drank sharab), they stil upheld the sikhi ethos, of never doin zabardasti of rapin n lootin innocents, they were wat the west call "a robin hood" type of person, who robbed the dirty rich (choudarys) and gave to the poor. Isnt it funny how the english have 2 make up fake characters of the past 2 give em an identity 2 b proud of (st george killin a dragon n robin hood), both fake ppl n made up, yet as sikhs n panjabis we got endless heroes 2 sing and learn about n look upto, i for 1 am sooooooooooooooooooooooooo glad im born in a sikh house and a panjabi house 2!! panjabi heroes: jagga jatt daku/sucha singh soorma/jeona mohr/abd'ullah bhatti (dullah bhatti)/(jamal n fatah rajputs)/udham singh/bhagat singh etc sikh heroes: ALL THE SHAHEEDS, the list is tooooo long, u kno who they r guys english heroes: St George (a turk not even english n a fake character)/robin hood (fake character, who i thort was genuine coz of nottinghams forests) scottish heroes: william wallace (legend n genuine babar sher of the highlands, nuff respect)!!, rob roy/im sure they have more, but im not educated enuff on their history. soz for the rant, safe

  14. yup remember wen a lot of high profile panjabi celebs were gunned down by black cats (kalay kachay) and panjab police, n it was blamed on khalistanis, 2 defame the movement. ppl like actor veerendra, singers like amar singh chamkila and amarjot. Also kuldeep manak especially joined in with khalistan approval, coz of dilshad akhtar, a panjabi folk singer, who gunned down by probably kp gills men, kuldeep manak, even tho he knew it was a waste of time, he stood in elections 2 try n bring justice for apnay!! Kuldeep manak is a legend, end of!!

  15. Very informative. Why are Sikhs so poor at documenting and researching their own history. Is it because punjabi parents don't think 'historian' is a good enough career?!! It may not pay well but the seva of preserving history to inspire the youth is priceless.

  22. UK: Sikhs are demanding the amendment of the Article 25 of the Indian Constitution as it currently states "reference to Hindus shall be construed as including a reference to persons professing the Sikh, Jaina or Buddhist religion, and the reference to Hindu religious institutions shall be construed accordingly" For some time now, the Sikh community have been demanding the change of this article and to be recognised as a separate practicing religion. The status of Sikhs being recognised as a separate religion has been supported by National Commission to Review the Working of the Constitution headed by the former Chief Justice of India, Justice M.N Venkatachaliah. International Panthic Dal (I.P.D) had launched a world-wide campaign in early 2012, which includes nationally in India, to build awareness in the community to support the change of the article. I.P.D, through its footprint in Punjab, will be working with various organisations, MP's and MLA's in gaining their support to the amendment. As an organisation we believe working through the system of democracy is a way of gaining results. Good, our brothers/sisters of Jainism and Buddhism should also get their unique identity recognition.

Without the True Guru, no one has obtained the Lord; without the True Guru, no one has obtained the Lord. Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji ang 466 Also, Bhai Randhir Singh Ji in Anhad Shabad Dasam Duar: “The Liberation-state of Gurmat is unique and different in concept from other religious faiths. Liberation is not the mere ending-up of the human body or just an escapement of the soul from its bodily cage. Some envisage liberation as riddance from afflictions associated with the human body. They believe liberation is unattainable as so long as the soul is caged within the human body. Others identify liberation as the fulfillment of their desires to abide in a heavenly abode. However, this kind of liberation falls very short compared to the Gurmat concept of liberation. Liberation is not the banishment of imagined pain and sorrow, nor can it be described as the disassociation of the soul-being from materialism. Yogic faith conceives liberation as empty consciousness through meditational practices that bear no semblance to the Gurmat concept. Vedantic faith believes in the removal of duality to arrive at oneness with The Absolute, in order to be liberated. Buddhism believes liberation to be a state of total renunciation of desire and negative thought – Nirvaana. Jainism considers that non-violence and non-killing leads to liberation. Mere escape from transmigration is not the essence of True Liberation…. Gurmat considers the above listed forms of liberation as halfway and incomplete. The swan-bird Gurmukhs who are blessed with Divine Enlightenment reject all these forms. They merge with The Divine Immaculate Light whilst living; they envision The Glorious Lord in full Divine Splendour. Gurmukhs are sustained by the nourishment of Naam-Divine, while they behold The Lord at all times. They find True Liberation within this Love-Divine…Their Liberation lies in the sole occupation of Naam-Devotion, in accordance with Gurmat. This supreme state is reached through complete dedication, when one takes refuge within The Guru…what is not sought is a form of liberation devoid of God-Realisation.”

  28. I think the term Sahejdhari has been misinterpreted by the current generation of Sikhs. The term Sahejdhari was used for Hindus who were Shardaloos of the Guru Ghar and were on the path to Sikhism. About a hundred years ago, the Sahejdharis were a large community in Punjab mostly consisting of Aroras. Eventually they became Sikhs and the now Sahejdhari community is almost no more. In current times, Sikhs who were born in Sikh families and have cut their hair call themselves Sahejdharis. This is a misrepresentation of the term.

  30. I think Mand5 should come back to this forum, and start learning about Sikhi..As he/she is only going to go and get more brainwashed. The reason i am still on this site is because of what I am learning from it and realising what Sikhi is all about. I am not perfect, and do find it difficult at times to do paat, but at least now, i know the difference between fake babe, and the truth. I dont know much about Radha Soami's, but I do know that if somebody gives you naam as you say, and its secret that should not be told to anybody else, then thats a cult, not the truth, as god's name is for everybody, which Sri Guru Granth Sahib do not hide, or do not have to hand out. If you want the real naam then it is up to you to take the step towards God, not for others to give to you. @Mand5 nobody is being nasty to your baba, or to your faith, they are only stating what they have been through and what the truth is, and they are only saying to you to help you. You are taking it the wrong way round as you know no different, Sects, cults, other groups also existed in the Guru's times, not just now, they have been going on and on for years. You calling Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, merely is book is disrespectful. You dont understand this as you have chosen somebody to be your Guru. This is the reason why Guru Gobind Singh ji decided to have Sri Guru Granth Sahibji as the next Guru, so as nobody would have to bow down to any person, and gurbani would be amar forever, whereas in some faiths if the guru dies then another one has to be replaced, and who is going to that job? Our Guru is neverending and does not die, and is infinite. 150yrs is not a that long, our faith has been going for longer and will carry on, nothing can destroy the bani of Waheguru, people may use it, play with it, amend it to attract others, but nobody and nothing can change the truth, which always has, and always will exist. You are the one that came on here to ask questions, now you got the answers it hurts you, why does it hurt you? Why does it hurt so much if you are so strong in your faith? Nobody has attacked your baba physically have they? Everbody is entitled to their own opnions. I really hope you come back onto this forum, to learn more about the right path.. it maybe hard for you but if you really want to know the truth then it is up to you to do the work too, you will not be given it on a plate. Why dont you give Paneer Monster a call, what are u afraid of? Are you an RS scared follower?

  31. Agree with you/ Mand5 has lost the plot definately. as he/she cant see anything else beyond what he has been entrapped in for 15yrs. He/she says are not brainwashed, obviously are. When somebody is brainwashed they dont realise it until something bad happens to them, or until it too late, like it did with me, I lost a lot coz I was stubborn until the end. They will carry on believing what their brain has been taught, they know nothing different, and even if they want to change its going to be hell of a journey. Stubborness will not get you anywhere, there is nothing wrong with learning other faiths@ Mand5,just because you are following yours, doesnt mean it is the right one. For the last time@Mand5, they are Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, not bible. Bible belongs to the Christians. You talk about others offending your faith, but you are not exactly a Sikh are you, if you are using vulgar language back to Paneer Monster. I been through a lot of brainwashing, but never to this extent did I disrespect Maharaj ji, mine was a different story thou, I always respected other faiths for what they are. Mand5 seems to have been fed hatred towards Sikhi, either directly or indirectly....and thats not a good thing. Mand5 will just have to learn like the rest of us did and still are as regards to what Maharaj ji are all about. Its such a shame having been through something similar myself years ago, that somebody else going through it. But you watch Mand5 when u start questioning your idols or whoever u believe in, then watch how the tables will turn, when you start to realise the truth and that maybe you were on the wrong path, then see when the time comes how they all change towards you. Nobody is going to help you when you need them, no living person, only Waheguru will help you. Thats the only way you are going to learn, makes no difference what anybody says to you, only God will make you realise what is right and what is wrong. And I have to say Maharaj ji, are the truth, they are the Jyoti-Jot of the 10Gurus, being our living Guru, to God ~I am grateful I found even at the end. Everything else that uses gurbani is fake. So thats coming from another one that was diverted the wrong way.

  32. I have nothing against people believing what they want and I dont think any sikh of Guru Granth sahib jee has either. But there is a famous saying, "you cannot cross the ocean with one foot in one boat and another in the other boat." I find that this is what the followers of these babbes are doing. They are trying to take aspects of sikhi whilst following these babas. Majority of the time, these babbes advocate sikh practises to gain more followers. This whole situation can be compared to people buying chiense knock-off goods, they may look the same, feel the same but they will break when you need them the most.

  34. mand5 - im an ex radhasoami..... before i continue, well done for seeking answers from another source other then your radhasoami community. for this i must commend your efforts. I use to ask my family questions, they use to tell me not to ask others because others are "non believers... they think there way is right"... also my family use to say "maharaji (rs baba) is a walking granth... those who insult him are acting in ignorance"... my friend... you, and all other radhasoamis that believe in this pakhandi baba have been brainwashed. i hate to disapoint you, but he isnt god - just the thought really does turn my stomach. the radhasoami baba is NOT antarjami (innermost knowing)... if he was, he would have knew my plans to turn to king of kings Guru Granth Sahib ji MAHARAJ - SACHE PATSHAH and he would have stoped me from doing so... but he didnt... hes nothing more then a con artist. please save your family from the falsehood of radhasoami. at their time of death u do not want them thinking of a pakhandi "maharaj"... or reciting a fake mantra. Everyone knows Gurbani is truth and real... you want your family thinking of Vaheguru and reciting Vaheguru at their time of death. i can answer all your questions. please message me your phone numeber and we can have a chat. many things wrong with radhasoami mat. 1 - randha soami land in beas is currently legally in the name of Guru Granth Sahib Ji Mahraj 2- radha soami forbids alchahol and meat... not tobacco... read into radha soami history, or read "the masters answers" and find out why tobaco is not forbiden (or allowed) in radhaosami faith 3-radha soami replaced sikh greating of WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH with "radhasoami" 4-radha soami replaced gurmantra with a fake mantra 5- radha soamis do not belioeve in guru manio granth 6- radha soamis do nothing for the victims of the 84 genocide - not even the radhasoami victims 7-radhasoami baba does not speak out against injustices (guru nanak sahib did) i can go on and on and on. the list is truely endless. radhasoami baba is nothing... nowhere near our 10 satguru sahibs and guru granth sahib ji. the works of our Puran Satguru Sahibs is nothing short then the Work of God. All radha soami baba does is fool innocent and simple sangat - this is no achievement as punjabis are generally simple in nature. Radha soami refuse to believe GURU granth sahib ji is guru... yet radhasoami mat use to be centered around Guru granth sahib ji. Guru Granth Sahib Ji use to be parkash in beas... they wheeled in sikh sangat with ttheir fake prachar... messing with Gurbani is messing with Vaheguru... this is not a small sin that can be overlooked. yes gurbani and guru granth sahib ji maharaj is universal... but that does not mean it can be misused. this is mahapaap (huge sin). radha soami copy sikh traditions like guru ka langar, yet they do not believe its necessary to keep kara kachera kirpan kesh khanga... they call dasam bani false in "spiritual letters" book in "spiritual heritage" book they say sri harimanir sahib is just "brick and water" - how offensive the other radhasoami book "guru nanak, his mystic teachings" - is wholly offensive to sikhs. bhai gurdas sahib's bani is discredited... they also disagree with the documentated history behind gurdwara panja sahib... the list is endless.... i turely can go on and on. why does radhasoami only mess with sikh history and sikh beliefs and not the beliefs of other faiths?? why does radhasoami baba keep sikh apperance?? regarding your comment "you need a living guru" this is true. guru granth sahib ji is alive. if you believe in guru granth sahib ji mahjaraj you will be aware of the following truths: "bani guru guru hai bani vich bani amritsare" "sun sun jeeva terey bani" and others. there is no difference between gurbani and the guru.... we live by listening to GURBANI. we can not believe in what you guys believe in. satbachan is not gurbani... far from it. a sikh would never recite the words of tobacco users, and a sikh would never accept a tobacco user as their satguru. tobacco is strictly forbidden in sikh faith. even if gurbani told us to run to a living human for salvation (which it doesnt)... i would never run to the feet of such a fraudster radha sooami baba. do not study gurbvani from pakhandi baba, please learn gurmukhi and study for yourself. ive done it all... my family use to visit haynes park, and beas... we used to attend bhandara and put our names down for sewa... i am so thankful that Vaheguru has saved my family from that path and brought us to the path of Gursikhi. I am deeply saddened that there are literally millions of radha soami devotees. its very saddening. ill finish on this tuk of guru gobind singh ji maharaj.. sagal duar ko shhad ke, ghaiho tuharo duar, banhe gahe kio laj as gobind das tuhar - i have abandoned all gates (paths) and i have come to yours o lord, o lord please protect my honour and hold my arm, for i am your humble servant for any mistakes bhul chuk maaf vaheguru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ki fateh. (mand5, inbox me, we can discuss this further if you wish, i know its hard to accept... but believe me your baba is a fake... go back to the house of Our Puran Satguru's... we know for a fact they are real and true... have no doubts and embrace their pavitar bani)

  35. wrong. the low slung trousers signify that whilst in jail inmates are not allowed belts, because they will use them to hang themselves, that on the outside of prison they (blacks) still percieve themselves as being inside a "jail" hence the trend of wearing trousers without belts, and trainers without laces continues on the outside. Its been made innto a fashion statement with rarelty anyone knowing where or wy it started. basically its the blacks percieving themselves to be in an asylum called racist america, even if they walking the street or behind bars, they still draping they county blues.

  36. From what I gather and correct me if i'm wrong OP, but the topic is about Sikh youngsters adopting the 'way of black people' - most of which doesn't seem to be too good. I think of it as, what kind of image are the youth who choose to dress/speak/live like this representing to the rest of the world after all this is why we have a dastaar/5 kakkars etc so that we are recognisable to those around us as Sikhs. If we tarnish this image by mixing our dastaar (or sometimes worse...a doorag) up with jeans hanging down our butts and a balaclava round our necks, what kind of message is this sending out about us? It seems even young white people act like this and to me, it demonstrates how they want to be like their black 'gangsta' counterparts, I wonder if thats the same for the Sikh youth who dress similarly? It's not about being pompous and uppity its about not looking like you want to be someone else!!
