1. i kno im gona sound horrible and controversial, but ill say it, maharaja ranjit singh, when he ruled his empire, shudda forced sikhi down ppl's throats. im not sayin forcefully convert, but make sikhi SO dominant all over his empire, that every1 wudda succumb 2 the continous exposure of sikhi and its promise of spirituality , oh and the warrior thingy too! When afghans used 2 kidnap hindu women, they used 2 kidnap panjabi muslim women too, and the fact that it was the 12 0 clock sikhs that got em back, it wudda been perfect tool 2 show non-believers wat they r missin out on! we had our chance, and we blew it! the hindu/british changed sikhs mndset that we r not a missionary religion, wen in actual fact, sikhi IS as much a missionary religion, as christianity/islam, but we r dumb at parchar! Guru amardas, in his very 1st duty as the new guru, was to send all his missionaries all over asia. Also lets not forget, guru nanak visited turkey-middle east-india-himalayas-burma etc, and he didnt go there 2 stretch his legs did he? During the 1900's-1947 in panjab, Sikhi WAS THE HIGHEST GROWING RELIGION, by this i mean our population rate was higher than muslims/hindus/christians. This is coz we were encouraged 2 have loads of kids, which is sumfin we need 2 get bak 2 now! Also during this period in panjab, Sikhs also had THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF CONVERTS into our religion, more than islam/hindu/christianity! It jus shows u wat effect that dirty indian govt has done 2 our ppl's mindset after partition

 3. Zakir Naik always picks on the weakest members of another faith. Those who don't know their own religion well, fall for his traps. It's a publicity stunt. He never debates religious scholars because he knows he will be made to look like a fool.

 4. SatSriAkaal (N30S1NGH) Paji that was an excellent post you made. It makes me mega khush to know that you care so much about Sikhi to think all those superb ideas. Regrettably i can't respond in full right now and simple economics mean that I don't intend to contribute to this forum at the same rate as this weekend in the future (as my strong belief is that money is key to effecting the kind of change Sikh philosophy wants to create in society for Sarbat dha Bhalla ... and if we have weak financial ability ourselves ... we are somewhat constrained from pushing forward Sikhi or helping others). I really liked your ideas 1d, 1e(ii), 1f + 2a, 2b +2f. I do however diagree with 4a. I believe that Amritdhari + Sehajdhari have equal claim upon Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj ... though obviously Sehajdhari Sikhs would need to be thoroughly vetted that they are genuinely committed to Sikhi as for example in Sindh, Pakistan there are hardly any Amritdhari there and hence the Granthi's and Committees are Sehajdhari. Ideally Amritdhari presidents where possible though. A few quick points i'd mention are ... ... that I hate Ragi's getting offered £1 etc in front of SGGS Ji. Committees should pay them upfront or afterwards, as we are the only Panth that has such a strange tradition. I don't like that one bit. The other thing I hate, being from the building trade myself, is that we are spending so much on Gurdwara structures. Case in point Havelock Road Gurdwara and Gravesend costing 17.5 million and 5 million respectively. Guru Sahib taught us that the structure need not be elegant (it was Ranjit Singh who was responsible for Harmandir Sahib in its current form) whilst people on this planet are going hungry. I strongly don't like gold at Harmandir Sahib as a Giani said we should melt it and distribute the funds raised from that to helping the poor+downtrodden globally. I think we should leave fancy-dan houses of worship as the speciality of Hindus, Muslims + Christians and set ourself apart from those peope. To them spending a 100million brings them closer to Sai Baba or Jesus or light-skinned Arabic virgins in Paradise as they proudly proclaim to the world. However, the more we waste on construction costs, without justification, takes us further away from God and Sikhi's true message imho. I don't like the ornate decorative features at certain Gurdwaray particularly when we're in the West. Architecturally they may look nice but we don't need them for spiritual salvation. I think if we could have saved 8 million from the build cost at Havelock Road and 2 million at Gravesend .. and used that 10 million to help poor people around the world in a sustainable way, ParmAathma would be more pleased with our actions according to what Sikhi teaches us. It's like the brother said if we are praying in some warehouse ... our Sikhi is strong because of the SGGS Ji + not the structure. Last few points no paintings in Gurdwara's, no names of Gurdwara's associated with individuals or backgrounds and snooker tables compulsory in gym halls :-) ... in order to attract the youth towards a better way of life as opposed to them playing pool at the Pub. Conscription of youth into activities that assist those around in the local non-Sikh community such as helping disabled kids, or homeless apne ... that stuff will help us as youth stay disciplined and focussed in our life and remember the blessings we enjoy ourselves. No wastage of electricity money on lights on Diwali or Holi or even Gurpurabs ... again the money thus saved to go towards sustainable assistance to those that need the help rather than to blindly copy the Hindus, Muslims+Christians simply for the sake of it. And it would be nice if all framed photo's of Giani Zail Singh could be thrown into the bin as well. Quite what place they had in Gurdwaray (especially before 1984) is beyond me ... But overall in conclusion, Paji you had the best ideas already with what you already suggested and ParmAathma karay that we as a Sangat can one day get the majority of your ideas implemented

 5. True if a velvet divorce between India and azad Punjab could be achieved without bloodshed like how Czechoslovakia peacefully divorced into the Czech Republic and Slovakia ... then even I have to admit an azad Punjab would be something no Sikh would likely oppose. But let's get real ... if Punjab splits ... the whole country would disintegrate (which they would never willingly allow) ... I think we can achieve more by getting the Anandpur Sahib resolution adopted and supported by other Indian states ... leading to a Confedaration of independent states similar to the EU or ASEAN. Ie Punjab would be independent sovereign nation, free to set its own food prices ... but still able to sell its products in other independent states (within the EU-like confederation) such as Maharashtra and Gujarat and Bengal ... whilst still having a common defence against Pakistan. That would allow the millions of Sikhs outside of Punjab to remain where they are whilst still allowing us the capacity to spread Sikhi in other parts of the old India. However, let's remember India has 1.2billion non-Sikhs so it won't be an easy task to even convince them of a velvet divorce! But given that all population segments of India are minorities ... for example even Brahmins only number 50 million at best (and Brahmin dominance of GOI is continuing to fade year by year as Yadavs, Jatavs + various OBC communities gain power as evidenced by Congress getting wiped out the last 20 years in Uttar Pradesh) ... Sikhs can achieve more by getting other states on side with demands for greater federalism

 6. Excellent thread. I agree with the majority of the suggestions you've made. I will try not to duplicate what you have suggested. Here are some of my thoughts for the future. 1. Regular weekly English Katha on sunday's at all UK gurdwaras. 2.Every gurdwara should have a feedback mechanism where sangat can provide feedback on current services, services which they would like the gurdwara to provide and ideas for improvement. 3. Support groups for- single parents/widows/divorcees. alcoholics/drug users. 4. Improved use of media- facebook, youtube, email, text message, gurdwara website, 5. education- weekly sikh classes, gatka, kirtan, santhiya, free sikh education books to families to learn about sikhi and for parents to teach their kids the basics. 6. Panj kakkars and gutkas should be freely available to sangat 7. cresh/child care facilities 8. support wider non sikh community- homeless 9. gurdwaras should start purchasing farmland to produce their own food requirements, milk, surplus can be sold for income 10. Each city should create a local council of gurdwaras where represantitives meet regularly to discuss local issues, and work together to promote sikhi. perhaps sikh council could organise this. 11.promote healthy lifestyles- Healthy langar, less butter in dhaal/sabji. gym. 12. university scholarships for intellectual gursikhs whom cant afford to go to university to study top degrees 13.Teach all gyanis English, CRB checks on them, purchase accommodation locally for them, Should receive at least minimum wage. Incentive to learn English- bonus/pay rise? Also need to raise caliber and qaulity 14. more bibiya and youth in committees 15.weekly/monthly "challenges" for sangat eg amritvela for 1 month, stop alcohol for 1 month etc. if they know others are doing this they can help each other to persist with it

 7. This is Sant Bhindranwale's reply to those who called him Congress agent as well as exposing traitor Akali leaders Longowal,Badal,Talwandi etc. and how they had conspired to kill him much before attack on Darbar Sahib in 1984. Bhai Surinder Singh Sodhi (Right-Hand man of Sant Giani Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale) Enemies within Sikhs, people like Longowal, Badal conspired to get Santji and Sodhi killed(listen from 0.50 part 1). Assassins were paid Rs.50 lakhs for killing Santji and 25 lakhs to kill Bhai Surinder Singh Sodhi. Bhai Sodhi was trained in anti-tank mines & anti-tank missiles and he would prove very useful during fight with the army.So they wanted him eliminated before Bluestar. Bhai Surinder Singh Sodhi's shaheedi day is April 14,1984. So by getting him killed they wanted to cut off Santji's right hand ...watch this from santji ji ...in second part.. Another enemy of Sikhs, Bhajan lal who had committed atrocities on Sikhs and got Sikhs killed in panipat was on the hit list of Singhs. Bhai Sodhi was sent for this mission by Santji. He went there disguised as a Navy officer, had tea with him but the mission was aborted as Santji said he was needed at Amritsar On a another mission he drove his motorcycle on the railway track to deliver Santji's message to a Singh in a village,as there were police naakas on the roads. Harbans Lal Khanna was the ex MLA and head of Amritsar unit of BJP in 1984 who carried out a violent procession of Hindus in Amritsar, which broke model of Darbar sahib at Amritsar railway station, threw cigarettes in face of Guru Ram Daas ji’s photo. They also raised slogans like : Dukki tikki khen nahi deni,Sir tay Pagri Rehn ni deni Kach kara kirpan,Ena nu bhejo Pakistan The Guru nindak was punished by Bhai Surinder Singh Sodhi and Bhai Labh Singh within a week on April 2,1984. 8. ~ Ideas to have your dream Gurdwara ~ Ok now that i got everyone's attention, i want to dedicate this thread for all the sangat to post their ideas how to run the gurdwara if you were the head, in other words, what things would you implement to run an dream gurdwara of you have perceived to be an perfect model of an gurdwara? I will start off with most important thing which is maharaj darbar. 1. Guru Maharaj darbar- a). Pehradars in maharaj darbar with either small soti or barcha to ensure proper respect is paid to maharaj. eg- men/womens chatting, kids running around and crying etc. I honestly beleive these pehradars should be paid or salaried to keep consistency in their daily duties. b). Make a small room for bibiya with cranky kids and have an audio input with glass facing the maharaj darbar so they can take laha too. c). Having an serious morning/afternoon/evening Gurmantar/Mool Mantar chanting with lights dimmed with body fully straight...chanting should be done in a way where shabad spontenous resonance is vibrating all around maharaj darbar... i am not a fan of high speed simran - sorry. d). Golak for maya should be downstairs, only offering in maharaj darbar should be flowers/shastars/different types of incense for sachkhand darbar and fruit/anaj(wheat/rice/milk etc for langar). Reason for golak should be downstairs - who are we offer maya infront to maharaj..we are beggers..we should fullfill our daswanad in galok downstairs in the langar hall. e) Sachkhand room is already perfect in most gurdwaras, just small additions nishani of royalty for maharaj i.e- diamond malas, shastars in miyan with gurbani written on it e). There should be criteria (course on sikh theology/sikh mysticism/sikh history/gurbani) to be an Kathavachak/Kirtanis/Dhadivaar and after passing the course, they should be paid to overcome poltics within kathavachak/kirtanis circle (how come i get less time, he get more time, how come he gets more charva and i don't). I am not suggesting they should get paid for all of it..if kathavachik/kirtanis/dhadivaars is doing duty for 2 hrs, he should be getting paid 1 and other one is form of seva which he needs to fullfill in maharaj darbar. f). All the politicans mps/vips should do their baashan(speeches) downstairs 2nd floor in seminar room/inter faith/conference room/presenation room. Maharaj Darbar should be only for patt/kirtan/katha/dhadi varans. Optional - Lotus is very symbolic. I always wondered about this, it will look extremely beautiful to have guru maharaj parkash on huge customized lotus flower made out of gulab tile. Even though i think it would be great idea, i m reluctant to share that idea with anyone in real life because they may think its beadi as it would replace palki sahib. i m bit confused on this, what you guys think? Does that break maryada in anyway? 2. Gurdwara Structure (addition to what's already there in gudwara) a) GYM in the last floor beside langar langar along with offices/guest rooms to stay. Activities like yoga, gym, kusti, dand bhataka, gatka can be held in the gym. b) Large hall dedicated to Sikh History/relics of maharaj ( Guru maharaj histories/Saints/Soldiers/Scholards contributions, sikh war history, sikhs in 20th century) all should be representated into pictorial form (sometimes picture have amazing effect on person than words because of beginners surti of this jev). This should be in 2nd floor along with seminar room/conference room/inter-faith room. c) Another large hall dedicated to sikh manuscripts (this hall should be at the same level at maharaj's darbar) as we are dealing with priceless sikh manuscripts (old and new), caligraphic items with gurbani written on it. d) Sikh Research Center(2nd floor), which should be sikh library along with computer lab for youth singhs to do research on gurmat, make presentations to present in either maharaj's darbar or seminar's darbar. e) Master room sizes room for classes for punjabi/turban typing in 2nd floor f) Gurdwara should be built with huge property surronding developements of garden, senior homes/ multiple permanent huge tents for family akhand patts/anand karaj- same protocol should be followed of main maharaj's darbar. g) Elevators should be there for elders 3. Langar Hall a) Golak should be there b) Perhadards should be there full time and should be paid. c) Main langar as in (afternoon and evening ) should be distrubted after the sampati and ardas with mool mantar patt and jaikara followed by it. d) Small snacks - samosas, pokariaies, sweets, cold drinks can be vartah all the time to keep maintaing 24/7 concept of langar. d) Everyone in langar hall contribute to the seva first to organize langar for sangat prior to sampati. e) Mid size rooms near langar for people who like to yap away. f) Everyone should be allowed to do seva of langar monaie/amritdhari alike together to like we are already doing. 4. Gurdwara committe structure a) Committe members should be all keshadhar/amritdhari (can follow samparda/jatha maryada but should advocate panthic maryada when speaking to sangat), and should be part of panj pyares appointed by sri akaal takth sahib jathedar(may be too far fetched) with meeting of other takth sahiban and samparda's. b) Gurdwara Committe should have web centeralized database to report to Sri Akaal takth sahib as form of communciation and providing additional funding and this should be also used to acknowledge and enforcing the edicts and hakumnamas. c) Gurdwara committe should have khajan ji (which they already have) but also should have another body to do audits and oversee the fianicies d) Gurdwara committe should have army of Public relations/Media relations singhs/singhanis..this is extermely important from holding seminars to presentations to speaking to media to holding inter faith sessions. e.) All the gurdwara committe members and sevadards should be paid in a sense not salaried but percentage of full gurdwara revenue per year. This decision should be carefully made by jathedards of five takth sahiban we have. f) Gurdwara committe members should be transparent as neera jal(crystal clear water) when it comes to year end income, mortages payments, cost, percentage going to their pocket to win confidence of the sangat. Please share your own ideas...!!!!

 9. Pehnji Finding a Sikh attractive and wanting to marry them is a very good thing but having romantic feelings for more than one person is not right.

 10. WJKK WJKF I am in no way gay, I am a hetrosexual man. (I thought I would get that out the way before I post this). I don't know how to advise you, but, I can say, I see many young Singh's, and i think to myself, how proud their parents must be of them for being such a fine figure of a man. And how the the in-laws they marry into will be proud to have them as an addition to their family. In fact, I see Singh's of all ages who I think look like super heros (they look like the Singhs you see in the purathan paintings). Those Sikhi Saroop Singhs can't help being extemely good looking men, it's just the way god made them. Look how many posts we have on here where young men feel they want to cut their beard because they feel they don't look as good as shaved men. Well, I'm sorry, it's not all about Singhs not looking as good a shaved men. In fact, in my opinion, most of the Singhs look better than the shaved men. We can't all pretend to be surprised when women start finding Singhs attractive, for looking like men. I can't advise you, but if you;re both single, you could think about asking your parent into arranging for him to be you partner in marriage, one day! But only if your parents will not rip your head off for asking. Preventing Sikh Girls from ever looking at any man Singh ever as a prospective marrainge partner, ever, could lead to more Sikh Girls running off with muslims or non-Sikhs generally as they could think they are commiting incest if they marry the Sikh Brother, if every Singh is their brother! I am not encouraging dating here, just marriages arranged by the parents at the request of a young Sikh men or women.

 11. Given recents events in Gurdaspur, I have posted this link which shows that even when proceedings are taken against officers, they largely remain out on bail and the cases are often dropped. Will Shaheed Jaspal Singh's family ever see justice? I think we can all start by signing the www.kesrilehar.com petition requesting the UK Government raise human rights abuses in Punjab on a international level. 12. DAMN bro, only 100 yrs ago? how come, coz in panjab, there is a gurdwara every few 100 yards or so. In my dad's pind (Sandhwa, Nawanshaher), theres a HUGE gurdwara, called Danda Sahib. Its where the 7th guru, Guru HarRai, did some sort of miracle involving a stick. check it out http://www.sikhiwiki...harraidanda.jpg

 14. I'll tell you some good 'superfoods' for your detox : Alsi (flaxseed) and Tulsi (holy basil) All too often we dismiss the recommendations of our elders as being ill-informed or without scientific merit but....they know what they're talking about when it comes to superfoods. Our grandparents have been telling us alsi seeds have hyper qualities for years. But we only started listening when Californian movie stars started saying the same thing and made alsi an official superfood. Same with holy basil. I remember when my wife first came over from Punjab. She was feeling quite unwell and asked me to get some tulsi (holy basil). I tried and I tried but I just couldn't get any anywhere. The Chinese and Thai shops had it in paste form but I needed the actual plant leaves. In the end she told me to go down the local Hindu temple. She said every Hindu temple in the world will have some tulsi. I thought it was a bit strange but off to the Hindu temple I went. Lo and behold, they had the holy basil in abundance. The geezer there informed me that all Hindu temples have a holy basil plant because it is considered a herb of the gods as it has so many super healing qualities. Anyway.....you'll be surprised how many times the tulsi plant has soothed various ailments in our household. Same with the alsi (flaxseed). In the old days, when the average height of a Sikh was well over 6'2" and they were built like brick s***houses, the alsi seed was a major part of the Sikh's diet, as it mad their bodies strong and healthy. In modern days, the farmers just give it to the cows to fatten them up. Our strength and health has deteriorated accordingly. But in our household we try and put alsi in alot of things. It has so many super qualities it cures so many ailments. Actually I seem to remember an interview I read with the marathon runner Fauja Singh. In the interview he says the secret for his longevity and good health is the alsi walian pinnia that he eats religiously every day. Seriously i've got so much respect for the knowledge of the old timers from Punjab. They know so much more than we think we do. Take my car for example. For months and months I was driving around with a seriously overheating radiator. Leaking like hell. RAC man couldn't get to the bottom of it. Garage wanted to charge me a small fortune. Then an ol uncle visiting our house just happened to overhear my problem. He told me to put some haldi (turmeric) in it and the problem would be solved. Bish bosh bish...haldi in and problem solved. Happy days. Moral of the story ? wanna get your body detoxed so all the rubbish comes out and the goodness stays in ? Talk to an old timer from Punjab and get their advice. Health conscience Hollywood stars are doing it. Cut out the middle man (Hollywood) and go straight to the horses mouth. Oh....start growing some wheatgrass and drink 2 glassed of the juice you squeeze out of it per day. It will help in getting rid of the 2kg's of filth we've got stuck on the inside lining of our intestine. Either that or get a colonic irragation. But if you do go for the colonic...be warned...buy some adult nappies to wear on the way home. Friend of mine had it done and he made an awful mess on the car seat of the fella driving him home after.

 15. UKLondonSingh, You posted a reply directed at me and I would like to respond however...I have to say the way you structure your posts does make it difficult to understand exactly what it was you said but....picking up little bits here and there I can see that you are one of those that liike to use the argument that most ill-informed Hindus use, i.e the fact that the prime minister of India is a Sikh and the politicians / Police of Punjab are Sikh, and Sikhs in India are doing great financially. Well, the less said about the patheticaly impotent Manmohan Singh the better....but if you think that most of those Punjab policemen that wear the turban as a hat as part of the official uniform are actually keshdari sikhs you are sorely mistaken. Then you repeatedly make reference to the fact that muslim jatts massacred 300,000 Sikhs during partition. Well...firstly, you need to know that unlike Sikh Punjabis, the jatts only make up a small minority of Muslim Punjabis, with the vast majority of them belonging to other groupings such as arains, sheikhs etc. So, unless you have uncovered startling new evidence which suggests that 90% of Punjabi muslims stayed indoors listening to the radio whilst the tiny 10% that were jatts went out and did all the killing...can we assume it was a rant against 'jatts' ? Again, in another post of mine I did mention how Indians repeatedly sidetrack us from the fight for freedom by manipulating us to fight their dirty way by proxy against the Pakistani muslims. You seem to be doing just that by mentioning at least a couple of times the fact that 300,000 Sikhs were killed by muslims during partition. But I'd like to ask you, where does the fact that more Muslims were killed than the total number of Sikhs and Hindus added together fit into all this ? Do they not count as human lives ? Anyways bruvs, I think you'll be a wlcome addition to this forum coz you do make some very good points also. But...I want you to know that I'm not the only one thats noticed how the majority of your messages do contain an anti-jatt underbelly. You keep going on about 'the incident in Vienna' and at one point you even gave the game away by referring to the great Bhagat Ravidass as a 'Guru'. All in all though, I find your message to be exactly the same message that Indians wish to give to Sikhs, i.e...'everything's fine' 'sure things were bad in 1984 but everything's been fine since then'. So...let me leave you with this question, seeing how in your message you stated that we don't need freedom because they haven't committed any atrocities against us for years now. My question is....How many times would a mad man have to attack your child with a hammer before you demand justice ? As long as he only attacked once and hasn't done it since do you become best friends with him and want to stay by his side ?

 16. i kind of agree with you here, i know it dont sound too good, but i wish that Maharaja Ranjit Singh had taken more steps to strengthen Sikhi, although it cannot be denied that he didnt do anything, he did a lot, but just some of the more basic things, like setting up Sikhi schools/centres/unversities of learning, making sure every village had a gurdwara and access to SGGS and sangat etc. Even in my own village, there has only been a gurdwara for less than 100 years, although the village was 95% Sikh.

 17. that is terrible, i dont know why sikhs are just not able to counter blatant beadbi on the spot. If it were a singh and singhni, they would get jutia without hesitation. Once at our local gurdwara, there are some gore who come to eat langar, and as they a couple were walking in, the guy stubbed out a cigarete on the wall, and then put it in his bag around his shoulder. 5 or 6 people saw him do it, and they walked straight past them and not one person said anything to them, so i stopped them and told they cannot bring tobacco on gurdwara grounds. They didnt give me any trouble, they just walked straight back out, but i just couldnt believe my eyes, that the 5 or 6 people just either didnt care, or were too scared to say anything. If it happened in their own house they would not be so passive, but if it s the Guru's house, then it s somebody else's problem.

 18. I agree a lot with what you mention above RebelSingh ... however the fact that we don't ram our faith down other people's throats ... and the fact that we will do sewa not tied to the gareeb people subsequently converting (but purely for the sake of Sarbat dha Bhalla) is what sets us apart from the Muslims+Christians. True that thanks to great GurSikhs like Giani Ditt Singh of Singh Sabha fame ... more Punjabi's realised that Sikhi was the truth in the earlier decades of the 20th century ... but what happened in the past is gone (no point in us crying over spilt milk from the Ranjit Singh era or 1947 or 1984 ... though we can still fight for justice for the 1984 victims) ... but's let's stay in Chardi Kala (knowing that ParmAathma + Sikhi is the truth and that nobody can never stop us if we are united) and realise that the sheer truth of Sikhi can turn the tables on fake religions like Islam and Hinduism that support slavery and caste discrimination respectively. Islam is about political power to rule the world by turning people like the Muslim Jatts and their other converts into the mental slaves of the Arabs, similarly caste discrimination as advocated in Hinduism is there to keep people in their place so that wealthy Hindu's can mistreat the gareeb. Sikhi offers universal freedom, justice and equality for all

 19. Yes I think one of the ways to keep ego's sweet via any proposed mergers would be to make sure that the newly merged Gurdwaray don't have a single leader but a council of 5 leading sewadars from each of the Gurdwaray as demographically everyone knows the relative population strengths of each Gurdwara ... but if we had for example Singh Sabha, Ramgarhia, Ravidassia, Bhatra, Mazhabi etc sewadar joint-leaders that would ensure that nobody (hopefully) would have anything to complain about. We need to actively fight the conversion of Mazhabi Sikhs into so-called Balmiki Hindu's ... we all know Bhai Jaita Ji's supreme bravery after Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji's shaheedi ... Ravidassia's need to know that every single Sikh bows down to Guru Ravidas Ji as our present Guru contains Ravidas Ji Maharaj's words ... Similarly, i think people need to know that the Ramgarhia Misl's fighters were historically composed 100% of true Khalsa's without any link to jaath-paath anyway (as they had all shed their old Hindu+Muslim caste identities) ... and that the Ramgarhia Misl ancestry-wise was actually composed of 90% non-tharkhan fighters ... and that was the glory of Sikhi ... that erstwhile Jatts, Khatri's, Saini's, Brahmin's etc all fought under Sardar Jassa Singh Ramgarhia ... because Sikhi was the one faith where all were judged purely on the merit of their ability and actions rather than their background. As for the fear of Jatt domination we need to actively spread the word that the vast majority of Jatts are Muslims + Hindu's and that the majority of Jatts actually hate+despise us Sikhs as proved in 1947+1984. By any means necassary achieving Gurdwara mergers both in the West and more importantly Indian villages is a vital pre-cursor to us having grander visions. So long as we have multi-Gurdwara's based along pathetic lines we can't hold our head up high to explain our faith.

 21. Bro, why wait for them to go? Why should that stop you acting? The elder generation do not understand the younger generation, so you can take a 2pronged attack, by reasoning with them and also joiing the committees at the same time. If there were 10 of you committed to sewa at gurdwara, then the next time a committee is to be made, you ALL give your names in, and even if half of you get selected, then thats great, if none get selected then you should brung the issue before the sangat. Also try talking to the elders, and asking them not to join the committee this time, as there is important work to be done. FIGHT YOUR CORNER!!! You have to the same right to be in the committee as anyone.

 23. The majority of the Sikh diaspora speak the doaba dialect of Punjabi, and in the doaba dialect the letter 'v' , although existing in written form, does not exist in speech and pronounciation. Thus, although it would be gramaticaly correct to say 'happy vasakhi', in spoken form it would never come out of the mouths of the majority of us because the sound of the 'v' would have to be forced out as it is so unatural. It would be happy Basakhi.

Please fill your lives with the highest rehit and udham - make it your priorities to make your bodies and minds strong, develop excellent martial skill, familiarise yourself with Sikh Ithihaas and arth of Gurbani (Aad and Dasam), learn more paat kant, listen to and promote the highest quality kirtan, become passionately involved in some form of seva for the Panth and establish an iron amritvela in order to benefit from the fruit of simran. May Sat-Guru bless and guide us all to put divisions/fences/jathai/sampryada behind us and all continue to unite under the banner of Shahi-Shahaan-Shah Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharajs eternal wisdom.

 25. Very nice thread. My suggestion would be to replace golak with commercial grade credit cardmachines. Two reasons: people will donate more and most important is financial accountability in papers.
