So why is Laughter good for your health ? Laughter makes you feel good. And the good feeling that you get when you laugh remains with you even after the laughter subsides. Humor helps you keep a positive, optimistic outlook through difficult situations, disappointments, and loss. In fact laughter is so powerfull it has helped people in life threatening situations back to health. Humor changes behavior - when we experience humor we talk more, make more eye contact with others, touch others, etc. Humor increases your get-up-and-go, and with increased vigor we perform activities that we might otherwise avoid. The lack of humor in your life increases distress. so lighten up…

I watched the Dudley Protest show on Sikh Channel last night at 9.30pm...now while the Gursikhs in the Studio correctly stated what occurred on the day and they did so very well but the only video's shown by Sikh Channel showed a very one sided account of the day...the videso were very aggressive and confrontational...why was the other side not shown (Simran/Jaap)? Yes a few moments were shown where simran was done but the complete focus of the videos was on the few outburst alone! I've received numerous calls from mone friends/family saying that the protest was wrong as all the youth were acting like thugs and rampaging - this was all based on what was shown on Sikh Cha…

Why Beant Singh Killed Indira Gandhi?

Bhupinder Singh of Delhi has raised (DV Nov.16, 1984) a pertinent question which had struck us even as the Hindus launched the reckless killing of Sikhs as a retaliation to Mrs. Gandhi’s assassination. To some extent our Editorial had analysed the situation leading to her death (DV Nov.16, 1984: “A Dalit kills Indira taking Sikhs closer to Khalistan”). However, the issue needs deeper philosophical analysis because quite a number of readers have sent answers to Bhupinder Singh’s question. This killing is not a simple affair between two Individuals, Mrs. Gandhi and her assassin, Beant Singh. It has deep philosophical, historical implications. Hence we want to begin with t…

Community leader. That's who I am. I'm a community leader. So are you, So is your dad and uncle. Imagine if a white news network came to your town, was interviewing members of the public in the street and stopped you to talk. What caption do you think they're gonna put up on screen under your name ? Congratulations you're a community leader. When white people come to brown and black towns they imagine it is something like going to another planet such as venus or mars. Like aliens, they imagine we have a leader and if thats the one that made it to the news interview segment that that must be the leader. That's white people for ya. Camping. After working hard all mon…

Urgent Report: Today Grays Gurdwara had a open meeting regarding party hall issues. We can sadly report the sangat voted in favour of allowing alcohol, meat and tobacco on Gurdwara Premises. Contrary to texts that went out this morning to stop sangat from travlleing to grays the local sangat decided to allow manmat to continue. Only 7 Singhs attended the open meeting. They peacefully sat in the sangat and the vote went ahead. The Singhs got up to leave quietly after the decision was taken. As they walked out of the Darbar Sahib members of the Grays sangat/comitee attacked them from behind. The Singhs had to rush out as 4 or 5 locals tried to shield them from the att…

I have observed that of lately Sikh philosophy network site is turning into a kala afghna mouthpiece. There are some die hard anti Dasam Bani people who have been made mentors on that site. They slander bani of Dasam granth on one pretext or the other. They also interpret SGGS ji in a totally different way. They write that there is no gurmantra and naam simran in sikhi. New meanings of Amrit vela are being given.Any effort to combat that is nipped in the bud. Does anyone has experience on that site. Please share that here.

Hello everyone, so let me explain what is going on. I am a keshdari Sikh guy in University. I work out, have friends from every race/religion, I consider myself to be a social and fit guy who also holds Guru Jis teachings very strongly in his heart and I absolutely love Sikhi. Now, I've always had a bunch of female friends, talking to girls has never been a problem for me. Throughout High School, and at the beginning of Uni, I always wanted to start a relationship with a Punjabi girl. Most were friendly with me, but wouldn't go out with me. The few that did always ended it after a few dates, because they wanted short haired guys. Of course it was disappointing, but I ne…

Chalvey Boyz V Shere-E-Punjab, 14.10.05 There may be calm right now on the streets of Slough hit by gang violence eight years ago, but Eastern Eye has found teenagers poised to restart one of the bitterest inter-Asian conflicts. Muslim schoolboys, whose parents hope would be concentrating on their exams, openly talk about taking revenge on Sikhs. They are waiting for the right time to strike, learning in the meantime from their older brothers who started the initial troubles. The fights will lead to bloodshed in Slough. That is the scene in Chalvey, a predominately Muslim district of Slough, where underneath a superficial layer of harmony broods a sense of cultural t…

Gurfateh ! Whether we like to admit it or not all Singhs are 'peacocks' - we all take time to perfect our Turbans and are known to take a number of tying attempts to get the right look and won't leave the house unless we 'get it right'. Whether you tie a small and graceful Dastar or a large flamboyant ਰੋਹਬਦਾਰ (Rohbdaar) Patiala or 'Ludhiana' style, or a smart smooth Dumala or the 'without the use of a mirror' more organic dumala - we all are particular about our Dastars which give us a Royal Bearing - Sardaari - a Blessing from Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The punjabi peacock comes in many forms; the village Jatt peacock - with a high ਤੁਰ੍ਹਲਾ (turla) on his turban, a kentha a…
