Amnesty International does not launch Urgent Action appeals unless it has evidence that an execution is about to happen. Read the actions you can take below. The Indian elections are coming soon and as usual the Government has no policies apart from whipping up hatred against minorities and acting tough against Pakistan an China. The economy is in a mess with the Rupee in freefall, they are looking to divert people attention. I have recently started going to the gym to gain some muscle. I have noticed that rather than finding it difficult to actually lift weights because they are too heavy, my problem is I become very fatigued over all very quickly (lack of stamina). I think it may partly be due to a VERY unhealthy diet. Could anyone please advise a simple diet plan which would provide me with enough energy needed for training? If you could incorporate punjabi foods into that that would be really nice of you . Obviously purely vegetarian.

CHANDIGARH: Punjab police are set to increase the firepower by placing an order for 3,350 AK-47 assault rifles - a weapon much favoured by the force during the height of militancy in the state. This shopping for arms comes in the wake of Union home minister Sushil Shinde's revelations in June about attempts by Pakistan to revive Sikh militancy in Punjab. The AK-47 assault rifles, each of which can fire up to 20 rounds per minute, will set back the state - reeling under a fiscal crisis - by Rs 12.82 crore. The order was placed last month before the Centre, a senior official with the Punjab home affairs department told TOI. The lethal AK-47, commonly known as Kalash…

Fought in the barren and hostile terrain of the North West frontier on 12th September 1897, the battle of Saragarhi, in which 21 Sikh soldiers valiantly fought and died defending their post against insurmountable odds, is alarmingly neglected in the pages of modern history. This year's Heritage Shared will feature the launch of ASHT's nationwide 'Saragarhi Day', aimed at increasing awareness of this brave episode in British military history. The campaign was recently launched at the Imperial War Museum by former head of the British Army, General Sir Richard Dannatt, His Honour Judge Sir Mota Singh QC and Pops from Tigerstyle. The campaign aims to encourage participat…

THE battle of Saragarhi is a saga of 21 heroes of 4 Sikh (then 36 Sikh) who thought nothing of their lives when it came to devotion to duty. Saragarhi was a small communication post on the Samana Ridge in the North Western Frontier Province (NWFP). It was held by 20 men under the command of Havaldar Ishar Singh. On September 10, 1897, the tribals started gathering and by September 12, about ten thousand of them surrounded the post and started attacking it early in the morning. By repulsing charge after charge, the 4 Sikh jawans fought valiantly for seven hours. Finally, the number of defenders dropped to a single man and that was Sepoy Gurmukh Singh. Shouting the war c…
