The Art Of Gatka-fighting By K.s. Akali

http://www.lulu.com/content/597512 In 1936 K.S. Akali, the Physical Director of his college, published a book on the then little known to Western Society Martial Art from India known as Gatka. Boasting 19 photographs and illustrations, K.S. Akali's book offers over 60 pages of instruction on footwork, handling, and use of "the Gatka." This instruction, considered training for the sword, offers a unique perspective into not only the Martial Arts of India, but also the efforts to include "scientific" physical education of the time. The emphasis of K.S. Akali's book is on the sporting aspect of the Art which is similar to Japanese Kendo or English Singlestick. he…

After hearing about the grooming programme and whats happening out there. i just feel so scared, especially when i see a Pakistani. I know this sound stupid but i just feel really scared. I dont understand why it has affected me in such a way?!?! but i just need guidance. I pray to Mahraj everyday and i also go to the gurdwara most days. I just dont know whats happening. Craving Alcohol
by Guest sober- 8 replies

I used to be a mona sikh. I used to go clubbing and drinking a couple of times a month, however I never drank at home, I only used to drink if I was going to a club. I always had a belief in Sikhi. Whenever I hit a tough time in my life I would go to the gurdwara more often and pray to god. When times were good I would stop going to the gurdwara and question if god exists. I was off work for nearly two years due to an injury that was difficult to diagnose. During those two years I hit many lows, got depressed and wondered if I would ever get better. One day I was so low that I bowed in front of the SGGS and told god that I would stop drinking if he made me better. Grad…

Pl post the meaning of SO PURKH PATH

I would like to know the meaning of 'slander' as it occurs in Sikhism. 'Slander' it mentioned many times in the SGGS, specifically in Sukhmani Sahib. My understanding of what slander is, is saying untruthful things which are harmful to another persons reputation. But, I have some friends who think that even if we tell the truth about someone that we had a bad dealing with, we are engaging in slander. For example, if we had a bad dealing with an autoshop and they ruined our car & then we told all of our friends not to go there, would that be considered Nindia/Slander? Wouldn't we be doing a good thing by informing others so they don't have to go through the same thing?…

Dasam Duaar - Help from experts 1 2

Sometimes when I do Naam Simran or meditation. I start feeling intense pressure at the crown of my head where the jura is. Sometimes I feel like someone trying to drill a hole through there and sometimes I feel something sharp like a knife poking there. The sensations come from the inside of the head to the crown. The exact feeling is that of .. some sort of pressure has built up at the base of the crown and trying to be released. Can someone explain what it is and give some reasonable explanation. Is this positive sign or negative sign or some symptom of energy blockage. Thanks All.

So my brother doesn’t keep long hair, I do. My brothers reason is. ‘I just wanna live life, I don’t wanna follow being a Sikh even if it’s true I don’t care’. Now my cousin keeps long hair but he’s been pushed into being a Sikh. He really doesn’t know much. Now recently, My brothers been asking him ‘when he’s gonna cut his hair’ like it’s a definite thing. It seems that my brother is getting around to my cousin now and I’m asking my cousin why would u cut it and he’s staying stuff like ‘it’s too hard to manage’ like what? He’s saying he might cut it before uni or something, How can I persuade him around? I’m trying to learn myself as much as I can about sikhi bu…
