Interfaith
by Guest Summer- 4 replies

I am from a Sikh family and he is from a Punjabi Hindu family. We are both doctors working in New Zealand and have been together for 4 years. His family is supportive whereas my dad is extremely angry and wants us to break up. He says he will never approve. Me and my partner are both very open minded, easy going, believe in god and have immense respect for our faiths. I have no idea what to do. The stress is taking a toll. Any help would be appreciated

Gurufateh - I am torn between reporting an interfaith marriage and just letting it happen. The boy as I understand it hasn't converted to Sikhi yet they are having an Anand Karaj at a Sikh 'Centre' which is essentially a Gurdwara in London

Interfaith Marriage 1 2

The sikh community worldwide has not more than 30 million adherents. So can we afford to have interfaith marriages.I am no supporter of it but how can we stop it. Sikhism will only stay alive as long as people who profess it stay alive. What are your views on this topic ?

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru ji Ke Fateh, This is a post that I wanted to share as I have pent this up for a year now. I am currently in my early 20s and ever since I could remember I was in love with the sakhis of the Gurus and the Shaheed Singhs. Maharaj kirpa, through the teachings of my mother we grew up doing mool mantra and jaaping naam. I have always had a deep pyaar for maharaj. Though I am a mona, through the kirpa of Vaheguru I have been continuing my mool mantra and simran over the years and do nitnem of bani I know such as Japji Sahib, Tav Prasad Savaiye, Chaupai Sahib, Kirtan Sohila, and listening to Rehraas Sahib and Aaarti Aarta in the evenin…

Hi guys, I need someone to talk to about this. As many of you out there, i have had the pressure to get married and so i joined an internet dating service. For a long time nothing much happened but then finally i thought i met someone. At first things seemed to be going well but suddenly he stops contacting me and becomes very unreliable. I know he had things on but he had plenty of time to send a text message or email (and i am much more busy than him anyway and yet i can find the time). Also, sometimes i would see him on MSN but he wouldnt send me a message unless i sent one first (whereas before he would send me a message). So, after about 2 months, of me having to …

Internet Radio For People In Punjab
by Guest Guest- 0 replies

Gents Can someone think of available devices that can be used by people in Punjab to listen to Punjabis radio abroad. Basically the idea is that common sikhs in Punjab can listen to discussion programs or social programs broadcasted from uk(akash, panjab, raaj radios)And also from Canada & US. Such media broadcast is must to give confidence in our people. At the moment complete ban of such radios in India are forcing people keep listen to hindish punjabi programs and have low confidence with no worth discussion programs to have their say Expecting everyone to have computer setup then using net connection will be too m…

Interpretations
by Guest Guest- 1 reply

i have noticed that unfortunatley many of us will intepret gurbani to support our own views rather then using gurbani to make our views. for example, i came across an email recently which was using gurbani to try and show that a certain rehit is not gurmat and is pakhand. however all of the gurbani tuks had been totally taken out of context and not looked at from a neutral view point. if i get time i will post these tuks at a later date and discuss with the sangat the true meaning of them but i think that all of us (myself included) should read gurbani disregarding any of our own "peronsal" opinions of what is rite or wrong, and purely rely on gurbani. also we should …

Intimidation In Sangat 1 2

I have been an "active" part of my local gurghar since I was about 19 years old (I'm late 20s now) when I found Sikhi away from just the Punjabi culture. Unfortunately, I have openly disagreed with and continue to disagree with certain powerful elements within our Sangat who in my opinion are hot headed and beat up anyone and everyone that doesnt tow their line. The groups I think mean well but have caused so much strife in the midlands, Im sure some sangat on here are familiar with some of these elements/issues where people have been beat up, for instance when it was falsely rumoured a Gurdwara was going to be turned in a Buddhist temple etc and Sikhs and their familes h…
