Vjkk vjkf I want to raise awareness about an issue. There is a Singh *EDITED* who helps out with sikh kids camps. He has made a disrespectful video for a singles site, he is meant to be an Amrit dhari role model for sikh kids. Watch the video and have a word with him. Check out this video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXZ5ZtsBROE&feature=youtube_gdata_player Vjkk vjkf Seva Singh

Sat Shri Akal Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh I have seen that in some Non-Punjab States there has been a major problem for Sikhs of learning Turban (Dastar) perfect Turban and they wear Patka's which is meant for Sikh Kids....I have visited Delhi some years ago and I watched that no one was much passionate in wearing Beautiful Dastar But what amazed me was that they are atleast Sabat Soorat Sikhs and don't consider much Fashion or appearance things....But the thing that pinches me is that why some of our expert Punjabi Sikh Brothers don't bother to open Turban Training Centres in Haryana (2nd majority Sikh Place in India) Rajasthan (3rd Majority Sikh Place a…

What do you do if someone tries to rip your turban off?(Or if your turban fell off) 1 2

Hello, My question is what do you do if you are involved in a fight and your turban falls off , or the 'enemy' tries to rip it off? What would you ? Would you fight and dont care if your hair is seen? Take it off by yourself and wouldnt give him the chance to take it off? Run away? Please some serious thoughts - because this can happen everywhere and everytime . I mean if someone else sees your hair, what would you do/think/react?

Um, I'm not sure how to write this... I don't know where to start so.. I am fifteen years old living in Michigan. My life has been extremely depressing ever since.. ever. I was born in Canada and moved to michigan and everything got worse. I always thought I was different with my patka and hair and all that. I went to a catholic school in elementary (haha that didnt help). Recently I've been questioning religion. I've been studying other cultures and religions for the past 15 weeks or so and have been having different thoughts about it. All I see is corruption in the world. I was never really religious in the past. I have uncut hair so I wear a patka right now. …

Hi all, I'm trying to set up a Sikhi Forum on StackExchange. It requies people to follow it and upvote questions and generally take part. An Islam one, Christianity one, Hinduism one, a Buddhim one and a Judaism one are all either created or have lots of followers but no one yet has set up a Sikhism one. Any support would be much appreciated. http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/52432/sikhism Thanks.

Hookah /shisha 1 2

I'm seeing all of a sudden these hookah/shisha bars springing up and young boys and girls sitting there smoking away. They say they don't use tabbaco but even the flavour can mess up you're inner stoumach linning. I thought this hookah / shisha rubbish was only mainly done by: - Old men - Bandhmash men who sit around watching dancers - Dancers & prostitutes? Am I correct or is there more to it?

Sat Shri Akal I have seen that whenever any Hawk OR Falcon stands on Nishan Sahib or come and stands near gurdwara Window some people start Believing that It is Guru's Baaj....How can they be so sure??I know we should regard Baaj or White falcon u can say as it was lovely bird of Guru Saheb but that doesn't mean we should start worshipping a Bird without any specific Reason??A White Falcon was always perched on Guru saheb's hands...... Do you think by these superstitions we are promoting Animal Worshipping in Sikhism as well??? I have seen many videos where a Baaj sits near gurdwara window OR somewhere on roof and people are so innocent that they start bowing to 'Baaj"…

Obsession and Sikhism
by Guest SikhStudent892- 0 replies

How does obsession and Sikhism work? I'm not talking about obsessing over an item or idol, but a person? How does asking/praying to be with a person work under the guidelines of Sikhism? Will it be bad if I constantly ask Waheguru to see or even be with a person that I want? Thank you,

The History of "Kaur"
by Guest Jai Singh- 3 replies

I would like to know more about the history of the title "Kaur" in Sikhism. After doing much research in to works such Gur sobha, Gur Bilas, and other primary sources of the 18th century and puratan rehatnamas and hukamnammas, I cannot find much evidence that this title was introducded on Vaisakahi day 1699. Please refer to Mcleod's book Sikhs of the Khalsa: A history of the Khalsa Rahit, and Mcelod has stated that the title Kaur may have been introduced by the Singh Sabha movement in early 20th century. Could you provide me with more information on this and any primary sources of the 17th or 18th century I can refer that can confirm that Kaur title was introduced in …
