Hair / nails / mutation sikhism
by Guest Confused- 7 replies

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa ,Waheguru Ji ki Fateh Everyone, I have a doubt. I read somewhere in the forums that we dnt cut hair because they are living(living cells) where as we cut extended nails because they are non living(dead cells). What if a sikh is born with a rare mutation ,example : a extra hand or something which is living but of no use.(the cases you see on discovery or national geography). Is he/she allowed to cut(obviously through operation) it? Now one more thing,Due to hair at my private parts I have got a fungal infection.Doctor simply said the reason was water clogging after bath. And no matter whatever you do it wont dry(i cant simply use a dryer)..and …

Waheguru Ji! I hope with this post I can find some kind of solace with fellow Singhs and Singhneea! Since April of this year I decided to keep my Kesh, my dad is a keshdhari Singh however cuts his dhari. I come from a moderately religious family, however everyone's drinks and eats meat within my family. So anyway I decided too keep my Kesh however continued I cut my dhari a I did before. In July I went to Punjab for a holiday by myself and visited numerous Guru Ghar and decided to also keep my dhari, a point to note is that I listen to loads of Kirtan and diwans I also do a lot of jaapand path. When I returned home my family told me to cut my beard saying that I look t…

I just wanted to let the sangat know on this forum that you should always be vigilant about other forum members on this forum. Please do not disclose your own personal information( ie tell your real name, gender, place of birth etc) to someone on this forum just because you think they have gian or have 100+ posts on this forum and you think they are in "chardikala." For example, i once posted a question on this gupt section of this forum and one of the forum members told me to send him a PM. So, i thought this person wanted to help me out, so i created a account on this forum and sent him a PM, and then he replied back and said that it would be easier for him to discuss …

why use derogatory words in sikh.frustrated 1 2 3

its been quite sometime since i have been reading posts on sikhsangat.com referring to different castes by by derogatory slangs.I am sure the guys who mark such posts would refrain from calling blacks "nigger" for fear of "rascist" vibes. Sikhs say that the others being rascist to them when they call a sikh a taliban .But why do they fail to analyse their own actions when they refer to a khatri as "bhaaappe" or "bania' and a ramgarhia as "tarkhan",mazhabi sikhs as "churaas".When the other castes have not invented derogatory slangs for jats.Does it all imply that khatris, ramgarhias and mazhabis had absolutely no rule to play in the progress of the sikh religion. Have th…

Question on death 1 2
by Guest Gsk1993- 11 replies

I am very confused and concerned about what happens to the soul, if there is one, in the afterlife. A relative of mine took her own life recently in uncertain circumstances. I know that in the Christian and Muslim faiths this is seen as a major sin. What is the opinion on what happens to the soul in Sikhi if someone takes their own life, is murdered or dies in an accident. Is the time or cause of death predetermined? Is there even anything beyond death. I am very confused and I apologise if I cause offense. I just don't know who to ask.

I hope this is allowed and the sangat can be mature about this. We shouldn't suppress such discussions as they cause more problems if we can't understand them. Becoming addicted to such things will deprive you of success in everything* in life.

Vaheguru ji ka khalsa, Vaheguru ji ki fateh. I need serious Gurmat advice. There is one Singhni in particular who I have to see very often, and who I will be living with next year (I'm close to her family). It is very hard to put up with her. She has been brought up in a Gursikh family, but is not practicing Sikhi in the sense of having taken Amrit or doing Nitnem. She has had a very good upbringing, and has been spoilt with all the love and attention she could want. Now, as a young adult, she's self absorbed, temperamental and overly confident (ego). She is more concerned with popularity and taking pouty pictures than anything else. For example, she will constantly ta…
