Beginners guide to Simran
by Guest DumbIdiotBanda- 3 replies

VJKK VJKF I have recently started back my attempts at walking sant da marag after a brief run in with atheism. I was wondering if there is any special technique to simran or if what I was doing was what most sikhs use. Also, is focusing on chakras gurmat? Do chakras even exist in gurmat? How can I enter a state of samadhi? Thanks.

Which maryada for preparing Amrit is the one guru sahib used?

VJKK VJKF Sorry I am not trying to cause any fights but I have a question. I’m not much of a jathebandi guy because high avastha gursikhs are in every jathebandi, but a question popped into my mind. What maryada of preparing Amrit is the one Sahib Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji used? I understand that Sant Jarnail Singh Ji approved of the SGPC rehit maryada, but here’s my problem. Taksali Maryada states that a Shri Sahib has to be kept of the edge of the batta while stirring the Amrit with a khanda in the right hand, and these two are to be passed with the Shri sahib remaining at the edge and the khanda remaining in the Amrit.. SGPC only mentions a khanda being use…

Would you ever date a non religious person? I am not speaking about an atheist, but more so someone who is not very religious. Let’s say they let you stay close to your religion & culture and are ok with passing down your culture/values to future children. Do you think that’s ok? I think I’ve met the perfect person however he’s not very religious. He belongs to a different culture however our cultures are similar and compatible. All of my values line up and they are extremely respectful.

How Do Indian Sikhs Feel About White Americans Wearing The Turban? 1 2
by Guest Guest- 12 replies

WGJKK WGJKF Hello, I am coming here for honest opinions. I feel the members of my gurdwara would feel uncomfortable speaking openly about this subject, and I don't wish to make them uncomfortable as I haven't been studying long. I am a 25 year old white American who is very interested in Sikhi. I have only recently begun my path of discovery, and would want to spend an absolute minimum of one year (probably longer) meditating, reading gurbani, doing seva, and properly understanding Sikh philosophy before concerning myself with the five K's. However, I do feel I will eventually get to the point of sufficient devotion to feel comfortable identifying myself as Sikh, and …

I dont want to do this anymore

So I am 16 and was blessed with khande di pauhl exactly 1.5 months ago at anandpur sahib. Before that, I practiced everything a khalsa would do. nitnem, chastity, naam abhyas, etc. I have a pretty good image in public and people. Before, i felt like guru is very much near me, but now I feel like i am being seperated from him. I still do nitnem but i really want to defeat kaam and other evils. I read other threads but I feel like this is the only option left. I quit social media for 6 months but now my manmukh mind is back at it. I have committed no kurehit. Please tell me my amrit is not broken.

Sat Sri Akal Ji! I was searching on the above topic to prep for my case, to present to the Judge, how Sikhs look at adultery. As sikh we are thought to be faithful only, but what happen if one of the partner commit adultery? How is it should be handled in Sikh Maryada? My case, I went to India to get married as professional living in US, I was cornered in every direction and strangely with my own relative. (crazy). After getting married (Lava), the girl was acting strange, I'm not accustom to indian/punjabi culture and I thought its normal in arranged married. Fast forward she arrives in USA, pregnant, she told me it was my baby, she leaves me when the baby was 1 mo…

I've always wondered, what happens to people of other faiths? I'm not talking about someone leaving Sikhi for another religion, more like someone who was born into another religion and has followed that, and never even knew much about other religions. Compared to other religions, Sikhi is small, so what happens to people who never even learn that this exists? Just a question that I thought would be interesting.

Prophecy of 78 and 97
by Guest DumbIdiotBanda- 0 replies
VJKK VJKF There was this prophecy about 78 and 97 Bikrami in Gurbani to Bhai Lalo regarding the mughals invading India. These dates have been repeated throughout history such as Maharaja Ranjit Singh securing his raaj in 1878 Bikrami and the Dogre destroying it in 1897 Bikrami. There was this guy that made a post about 2021 and 2037 being important years in like 2007 or some year around that, and it was closed by moderators under his request. What do you think about it? Was there any major event in 2021 that would carry on the prophecy? What preparations are needed? Thank you.

Waheguru Ji Ki Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Im 13 years old and I’m planning to take Amrit. I’m trying to gain as music information about Sikhi as possible. I heard that Amritdhari Sikhs can only eat food made by other Amritdhari Sikhs. Is this true? If it is then this follows the Brahmin way of eating food. Guru Nanak Dec Ji taught us that everyone is equal. Also do Amritdhari Sikhs have to eat from a steel or iron plate?

Freezing Embryos, IVF
by Guest 1234- 0 replies

WJKK WJKF Given the current demographic trend with later marriages etc, many couple will start to turn to IVF especially in the west. What would the Sikhi stand be on this, is it against hukam? But it promotes growth of the panth and gristh Jeevan. Also what would where the egg is fertilized with sperm and the embryo frozen? Sometime the Embryos are destroyed if not used. Lastly, what if a female chooses to freeze eggs or a couple freezes an embryo before marriage. Is that a bujjar kurehit?

link to original thread once moderators are no longer missing! so last week was west bromwich nagar keertan. the west midlands transport didn't even bother calling us sikhs, instead they used the terms "indian religious worshippers" and "indian religions". was it ignorant goras, anti-sikh hindus (I am not sold on this though but you never know) or sikh-hating muslims (like some of the muslim police officers)???
