Understanding the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji I have difficult understanding the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji when I listen to it. Many have said learn Punjabi, but I guess its just like learning English, in that you will only incorporate the words that you use in everyday life. When I speak in Punjabi, its only usually at home but the conversations are not that technical which cross would many words or hardly any words in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Is there anything on the internet that could help one learn parts of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in language form, rather than just reading it in English. One of the things that I have found on the internet, which I advise e…

I just need to know some basic stuff so I'll ask in point form: 1. Is Sri Guru Granth Sahib the Adi Granth? Or is it all of the the Adi Granth , The Dasam Granth and the Sarbloh Granth combined? 2. Adi Granth is made of of hymns and scriptures from the first 5 gurus? Dasam Granth is all by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji? What about Sarbloh Granth? 3. What is the meaning of Sakhis? Sorry if I made any spelling errors :St:

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Often times when I or many other Sikhs are debating people of other faiths, I allways hear some Sikhs bring up the line: ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬ ਕਹਹੁ ਮਤ ਝੂਠੇ ਝੂਠਾ ਜੋ ਨ ਬਿਚਾਰੈ ॥ - Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Ang 1350 Which is translated to mean: "Do not say that the Vedas, the Bible and the Koran are false. Those who do not contemplate them are false." Link to full shabad: https://www.searchgurbani.com/guru-granth-sahib/ang-by-ang I have asked many people about the true meaning behind this tuk, and most people would agree that its correctly translated, however there are some who would disagree, and translate it in a w…

http://witness84.com/unesco/ :: Heritage Status For Sri Darbar Sahib :: The Sikhs face a big threat to their sovereignty - the jurisdiction of the Sri Harimandir Sahib and Akal Takht is to be formally conceded over to the jurisdiction of the Indian Government, if this 'behind the scenes stealth' move is allowed to go through. Without any consultation with the Panth, collusion between the Government of India and some misinformed Sikhs, has resulted in an application for 'heritage status' to UNESCO. In essence, the Harimandir Sahib should have no formal juridical control by any manmade political institution. Its physical protection and management is the responsibility…

India Gov along with badool party is trying to stabb sikhs in back. By making the presentation suggestion to UN it has come to light that the Indian Gov has said the higest authority of sikhs is SGPC. and is is a gov run org. it is answerablle to Gov of Hindia. They are saying SGPC represents sikhs and was made by law. this means Akal takkath is not our supreem court as Guru Ji said and the SGPC was made by india Law and therefore is answerable to Indian Gov. I will upload a audio ASAP which MUST be listened to. We Must Take A Stand. They are saying there is no Khalsa Panth.

Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum and new to Sikhism. I have questions about sin and forgiveness. I was reading a bit of the Guru Granth Sahib online and trying to get a feel for it. I saw this: Page 1152: ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕਾ ਕਹਿਆ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮਾਨੈ ॥ निंदक का कहिआ कोइ न मानै ॥ Ninḏak kā kahi▫ā ko▫e na mānai. No one believes what the slanderer says. ਨਿੰਦਕ ਝੂਠੁ ਬੋਲਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਨੇ ॥ निंदक झूठु बोलि पछुताने ॥ Ninḏak jẖūṯẖ bol pacẖẖuṯāne. The slanderer tells lies, and later regrets and repents. ਹਾਥ ਪਛੋਰਹਿ ਸਿਰੁ ਧਰਨਿ ਲਗਾਹਿ ॥ हाथ पछोरहि सिरु धरनि लगाहि ॥ Hāth pacẖẖorėh sir ḏẖaran lagāhi. He wrings his hands, and hits his head against…

The following stories give a glimpse of who Maharaja Ranjit Singh really was and how much love and humility he had. Whenever he was presented with pricey and expensive gifts he would send them to Darbar Sahib as he believed that such things belonged to the Guru. Once again, keep the negativity away. The source of these pages is Bahumullay Itihaasak Lekh.

hey ya'll, my uni's bookstore is gonna find and order new books on Sikhism. I wanna give em suggestions but I dunno what books on Sikhism are suitable for Sikh and non Sikh students. does your school have religious studies course that uses a textbook on Sikhism? or books that are used as part of a course? do you know of any books that are fairly exceptional for Sikh/non Sikh to read and learn and understand something about Sikhism, what its all about? If you have any suggestions plz post the title, author, and ISBN or link to it online. THANX!!!
