I was just watching " The Fab 40 " on MTV today (Saturday 15, 13:00, MTV) Its a show that Explores the lives of well-known celebrities. There was an item on the show reagrding celebrity harir styles, and how celebrities buy the hair of <admin-profanity filter activated> brides shorn off before marriage ceremonies in India. They then went on to say such hair is purchased by stylists from sacred temples, a6t which point they put up a picture oif Harmindar Sahib on the screen- now thats misrepresentation for you! Maybe they should do a little research before they run off making TV programmes!

January 6th, 2005 24 Poh (Samvat 536 Nanakshahi) COMMUNITY VOICE TSUNAMI RELIEF AID IN SOUTH EAST ASIA - TRIALS & TRIBULATIONS www.unitedsikhs.org contact@unitedsikhs.org KUALA LUMPUR - The attempts to provide relief aid to areas worst hit by December 26th’s Tsunami disaster has proven a challenge for international relief agencies. Logistics of transportation to the areas for volunteers and relief aid supplies, furthered by security issues and a history of political unrest in many areas has complicated attempts to reach the victims. The crash of a supply plane at Banda Aceh airport delayed flights coming into the affected areas for more than 17 hou…

LIFE (Dec 31 - Part 1) By Navneet Singh, Volunteer and Team Leader for UNITED SIKHS I spent all night yesterday, and all of today morning thinking about the Tsunami Disaster in Asia. With pictures of the wrath shown on CNN over and over again, with panic of another Tsunami coming and people running for their lives, my eyes became red and my heart skipped a beat. I couldn't think or feel anything for 60 seconds. Approx 120,000 people dead, with one third of them children, all gone in one day, just like that. It reminded me of the delicate times we are facing in today's world all around us but this was something really not imaginable. With nothing else on my mind, I clo…

From Ravinder Singh We reached Coddalore at 10 am today (11 /01/05) and drove straight to the District Collectors office. The meeting was arranged last night so that the building of the houses for the Tsunami affected families could go ahead as soon as possible. The various Sikh groups from around India were discussing the final phase for this development with the Collector, Mr Gagandeep Singh. Khalsa Aid again reiterated that we will not support any housing project involving Asbestos and that the whole building contract should be put out to tender to achieve the maximum amount of competitive attention. We left the meeting after 45 minutes to have a look at a functionin…
