Gurfateh I know a lot of the sangat has left this forum because they are sick of arguing with the hindu majority but now that there are no Sikhs on the forum hindu are getting away with saying what they want. I know that this goes on in a lot forums but this is different because many teachers in the UK use the BBC site as reference. That means that this distorted view of Sikhi may get into schools. I know that this sounds a bit far fetched but know of many people that use the BBC site as a teaching aid. http://www.bbc.co.uk/cgi-perl/h2/h2.cgi?st...eastern&&sort=T

Vaheguru Jee Ka Khalsa. Vaheguru Jee Kee Fateh. have a look - http://www.sikhifm.com/pl_24hrkeertan.htm On March 11th 2005, the Comic Relief charity celebrated British Red Nose Day - a fundraising day where people from all over the UK raise money for aid work around the world. The 24-Hour Keertan Darbaar was organised as part of comic relief. Many thanks to all the sevadars involved who were able to bring the sangat (yourselves) almost 24hours of keertan. Enjoy. Special mention - Rajwinder Kaur, Gurpal Kaur, Roopjit Kaur and Gurbinder Kaur who spent the 24hours looking after the whole thing. Well done.

Bhai Saahib Randheer Singh Jee's Puraatan Narangvaal Smaagams Adapted from Bhai Jodh Singh jee's description in Soan ChiRee ChaRee GaiN and Soora, July 1979. Introduction At Poh Sudee Saptmee, during Guru Dashmesh jee's birth Gurpurab, an amazing and wonderful smaagam used to take place at Narangvaal. Remembering those smaagams even today fills one with a sweet sensation. Trying to describe the divine colours of the those smaagams is like "Kaho Kabeer goongai guR khaaiyaa poochhay tay kiyaa kaheeai" (333) Many days before Poh Sudee Saptmee, Bhai Saahib Randheer Singh jee used to, by hand, write loving invitations and send them off. Those letters were examples of the…

I think as Sikhs we get a little carried away with the "all religions are equal" saying. I read a very interesting topic about the future of Hinduism and Hinduism's belief that all religions are equal. The whole point of the article was that Hindus keep saying that all religions are equal and many of today's Hindu youth in the west say if al religions are equal then why should I be Hindu? I read this article before I was to attend an interfaith meeting of student Associations at my alma mater. Interestingly enough the Hindu Student Council made the same representation and said Hinduism believes that all religions are equal and in the Q/A session a Hindu student aske…

How close are modern Sikhs with Hinduism? [The following article is by Sanjeev Nayyar] As Punjabis, our family has always worshipped Guru Nanak and Lord Shiva. I saw nothing wrong in this till the recent celebrations of 300 years of Khalsa. Through out the celebration the media and Punjabi leaders kept on harping that Sikhism and Hinduism are different religions. Till recently, visiting a Gurudwara or a temple was a manifestation of belonging to a different sect rather than a separate religion. Unable to know whether I am a Sikh ( S ) or a Hindu ( H ) , I decided to figure it out for myself. The essay talks about the lives of each Sikh Guru, reasons for the birth of Si…
