How does Gurbani define manmukh, Gurmukh. Are other religions full of manmukhs? What happens to their adherents when they die? Can their prophets be considered as their Gurus?

A faithful Sikh and his wife lived in a village. They had no children. One day a group of Sikhs on their way to see Guru Har Gobind stayed at their house. Both husband and wife entertained the Sikhs as best they could. When the party was about to leave, the couple asked them to pray that their wish to have a son might be fulfilled. The Sikhs prayed for the gift of a son in the family and advised the couple to meditate on God, work honestly and help the needy. The couple faithfully acted upon the advice of the Sikhs and by the grace of God, after a time they had a beautiful son. They named him Gurmukh (the Guru's Follower). The devoted parents often told stories about the …

a short story : 5 enemies of mankind 5 enemies of mankind One day, a Sikh named Kadhari, came to see the 2nd Guru Ji - Guru Angad Dev Ji. He had come in a "vairaag", bowed down before Guru Ji and asked the following question. Q. The five enemies of mankind, namely lust, anger, greed, worldly attachment and the ego have surrounded the whole world. How can we save ourselves from their deadly clutches? If we can know them then some defence against them is possible, but most of the world is not even aware of their existence. Guru Angad Dev ji gave a "parman" or example. He told the Sikh that, when a jungle catches fire most of the animals are unable to run to safety and s…

When I was little, my mother used to embroider a great deal. I would sit at her knee and look up from the floor and ask what she was doing. She informed me that she was embroidering. I told her that it looked like a mess from where I was. As from the underside I watched her work within the boundaries of the little round hoop that she held in her hand, I complained to her that it sure looked messy from where I sat. She would smile at me, look down and gently say, "You go about your playing for a while, and when I am finished with my embroidering I will put you on my knee and let you see it from my side." I would wonder why she was using some dark threads along with the br…

MAN INCOMPLETE WITHOUT HAIR Once, when the Guru was in the Lakhi jungle, a Sikh came and complained, "0 True Emperor, the sangat coming to pay their obeisance to you, has been robbed by the Governor on the way." The Guru heard this, but made no reply. Next day another Sikh came and said, "0 True Emperor, the sangat was coming to see you. The Governor has robbed them." "Listen, Brother, why doesn't somebody say that the sangat has looted the Governor? But the sangat is right. They think that the earlier nine Patshahis only gave them rosary. Now they shall wield swords also. I shall make sparrows destroy hawks. Whoever is my Sikh, shall not be without hair and sword. With…

Dass has seen lots of people wanting to keep hair, may it be Bibis or guys, but they just need that extra help and boost to do so. Dass has seen and dealt with a few people who think keeping hair is not necessary, this article was something that Dass was looking for in order to show people another way to look at why Sikhs keep our hair, and many Sikhs are asked why do you keep your hair? Many just say It’s apart of my religion, or "God made us like this". Many will argue the significant of hair, the purpose, there is not much online either, Health-wise hair growth is due to testosterone hormone in men, and lack of this in women is what makes their facial hair controlled,…

WaheGuru Je Ka Khalsa WaheGuru Je ke Fateh, I dont know if there has been a topic like this before, but there are some questions that lingers in my mind about getting bald or losing hair. An example, if you are a Amritdhari and your are beginning to get bald how can you still wear your kangi? I mean if there is no hair to tie your yura how can you use your kangi?? Gettin bald is just a part of life that we must accept, but isnt that when you loose your kesh even by nature its forcing down your strength? Well whats the sangats view? Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Amritsar, April 14 Tears rolled down the cheeks of Sultana Begum as she offered Ardas at Akal Takht this evening as her act of repentance for the atrocities committed on Sikh Gurus by tyrant Mugal Emperors. Sultana Begum, great grand daughter-in-law of the last Mugal emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar, who is living a life of penury on the pavements of Kolkata, said she wanted to repent when she learnt that her great Mugal kings had unleashed torture on Sikh Gurus and their disciples during the most traumatic rule of Aurangzeb in the 17th century. Appearing at Akal Takht she tried to meet Akal Takht Jathedar who was not …
