Gurbani often mentions the 'Jamdoot' presiding over the heads of those who are not in tune with God. Now, from what I understand, the Jamdoot is an 'angel' of some sorts in Hindu texts (correct me if I am wrong), and this suggests that Gurbani is saying that those who do not heed God will be struck down by this entity. What I do not understand is whether this Jamdoot is to be taken as a physical being, or whether the Jamdoot represents death and the cycle of rebirth. This also applies to the ideas of 'hell', 'rakshish' (devils), etc.... in Gurbani. This brings forth another question. I heard in Giani Thakur Singh Ji's katha of Jap Ji Sahib that it was called Jap Ji Nishan in my Fraidkot wala teeka it also says Jap Ji Nishan in the table of content can someone please explain why it was known as Jap Ji Nishan and why it was changes.

khalsa ji, a while back we had a thread of a singh who posted the english translation of jap ji sahib katha done by giani thakur singh ji. this thread was really long, and the singh had the posts organized by each katha file as it was recorded by giani ji. i was trying to look for this thread but didnt find it. can anybody help out????
